@Indira Khatri vs @Jordan Harris

Angel stretched as he stepped up to the duelling platform, motioning to the two students to join him at opposite ends before surveying the crowd. Content everyone looked ready, he addressed the gathered students. "Welcome to your first round of duelling, let's have a nice clean duel today. The victor will be able to continue on to the rest of the tournament, and the loser will sadly be eliminated. When you're ready, please bow to your opponent and begin!" He said with a flourish, letting the students get started.
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Indi grinned when she saw she would being up against Jordie first for the tournament. She still couldn't believe she had lost to him last year. As she got up to the platform she wasted no time and bowed quickly before casting her first spell. "Furnunculus!"

Jordie hadn't meant to sign up for duelling this year, but had upon Indira's insistence. He smiled at her. He was almost tempted to just throw the match in her favor, but he knew she'd probably know and kill him. So, he blocked her spell and threw a knee reversing hex at her in return.

Indi frowned as he blocked her spell even if she should have known he wouldn't lose that easily. It would be insulting. She threw up a perfectly timed shield charm to block his hex and fired back with the jelly-legs jinx.

Salem had figured out pretty early on she wasn't very good at duelling herself, but she was happy to go cheer on her friends, much like with Quidditch. And just like with Quidditch, it was always conflicting when her friends were playing each other too. "Woo, go Indi! Go, Jordie!" She called as her friends started trading spells.

Jordie threw up a shield spell, smiling easily. "Stupefy!" He countered, hoping it might work. He glanced over as he heard Salem and threw the Gryffindor a wink. Either way, he'd have to catch Salem after the match, they hadn't hung out in forever.

Indi was almost distracted when she heard Salem cheer for her in the stands. But she kept her eyes on Jordie and narrowed her eyes when Salem also cheered for him too. She blocked his spell and cast one back. "Furnunculus!"she sent back as quick as she could.

Indi was starting to get annoyed at how long this was taking. She was sure she should have been able to finish him off rounds ago. She blocked his spell and was quick with her response. "Stupefy!"

Salem's head swiveled back and forth as she watched her friends trade spells, equal parts relieved and frustrated when no one managed to get hit yet. "Look out, ahh," she called, though she wasn't quite sure who it was directed at.

Jordie threw up a shield spell, blocking her spell easily enough. Trying to come up with ideas, he threw a slug vomiting curse at Indira. He'd seen it used in a few duels, and thought maybe it could give him an edge.

Indi heard Salem shout out from the crowd again and clenched her jaw. Unfortunately Jordie blocked her spell again and sent one back. She hated the slug vomiting curse and she hesitated for a moment causing her to have to dodge instead of throw up a shield charm. Embarrassed by her misstep she but a little to much energy into her next spell. "Incendio!" she cast and surprised even herself by how big the fireball ended up being.

Jordie threw up a shield spell, but he was only barely able to block the absolute blast that came from the other girl. It threw him back, and he rolled several times. He hardly noticed, however, as the blast had gotten through his shield just enough to singe his hair. He dropped his wand, sitting up quickly and smacking frantically at the smoking curls to try and put it out. "Merlin you win! You win! What, are you trying to kill me?" He griped, forfeiting the match as he swatted at his singed hair.

Angel rolled his lips to stop from laughing as one of the kids nearly got set on fire, stepping forward and clearing his throat to announce the winner. "Due to a forfeit, Indira Khatri is the winner," he said grandly to the audience before lowering his voice. "You're not on fire, are you, Jordan?" He asked, giving the boy a once over, content that the crisis had passed.
