Y37 Duelling Match #10

[Katherine Alicastell]

Leading the competitors of the first round to the duelling platform, Katherine gestured for each of them to take up a position at either end, while she herself stepped up to a podium overlooking them. With a tap of her wand in the air, the headmistress pointed the tip at her throat, speaking out in a magically-amplified voice. "Welcome, competitors, to the first round of duelling. As always, the victor of this round will move on to compete in the next, and is brought one step closer to becoming one of this year's duelling champions. Wands at the ready, and prepare yourselves for the duel ahead." Katherine called, giving the students an opportunity to take on a comfortable stance. "Now, bow and commence."​

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Sully couldn't believe his first opponent this year was Aisa. He couldn't think if he'd ever actually gone up against her in a tournament and was excited to see how things were. He'd been a bit worried he'd feel bad for trying to jinx his friend, but standing on the stage he was most keen to see what Aisa was capable of. "You ready? I'm not gonna go easy on you," He said with a grin before readying his wand and quickly bowing to her. Straightening back up, Sully shot a babbling curse at Aisa, not wanting to immediately start out the duel with and Lysander's secret weapon yet.

Aisa hadn't expected to have to duel Sully in the first round, or really at all. She couldn't remember having to duel him before. Aisa bowed to Sully, then snorted. "If you went easy on me, I would fall asleep." She countered. She then blocked his spell and cast one back at him. "Stupefy."

Sully snorted at Aisa's response, stepping back so he could block her stunning spell. "We'll see," He sing-songed, casting a confundo charm in return.

[Professor Adorah Zumwalt]

Adorah was never one for actually participating in the dueling tournament. She would much rather watch, and even though she wasn't writing an article directly about the tournament events, it would be good to at least include an informed tidbit. It also helped that her sister and her girlfriend were partaking. She took a seat for Aisa's round and gave a small whoop when the Gryffindor cast her first spell.

Aisa smiled and blocked Sully's spell, enjoying the duel and having to think fast. She cast her next spell, shooting a spell back. "Silencio"

Sully had to duck out of the way of Aisa's next spell, knowing he didn't have a solid counter to being silenced if that managed to hit. Regaining his footing, he grinned, deciding he could try out his and Lysander's secret weapon. "Supercilio!*" Sully said, casting the eyebrow growing charm. He didn't know if it would hit, though the idea of Aisa with crazy long eyebrows was too hilarious to pass up, but maybe it would at least throw her off her game.

Sully's next spell took Aisa by surprise, mostly because she was pretty sure it wasn't an actual spell. She frowned, and reacted too late. The spell hit her, and she immediately felt something strange happening to her eyebrows. Aisa cursed. "Sully, what the hell is this?" She yelled, reaching up to feel what was undoubtedly her eyebrows growing at a rapid rate. Soon they'd cover her eyes. Aisa cursed again, then quickly cast a 'finite' charm on herself. It didn't return her eyebrows to normal, but it at least had them stop growing. In retaliation, she cast an instant scalping hex back at him. She was frustrated she hadn't thought to look up some obscure spells herself.

Sully cackled when his spell hit, Aisa's eyebrow hair starting grow longer. "Secret weapon, man! We made it," He said proudly, still laughing even when Aisa managed to stop the spell. He was still too busy laughing and congratulating himself when Aisa returned fire, letting out an offended yell as he felt the spell shear his own hair clean off. "Aisa, no!" He lamented, running a hand over his scalp mournfully, though he quickly resumed laughing when he caught sight of her new, lustrous eyebrows again. Belatedly, Sully remembered he was in the middle of an actual duel, casting a hair-lengthening charm, if only to attempt to restart the growth on Aisa's eyebrows that she'd cut short.

Aisa was still a bit shaken by the spell, even more when Sully revealed he had made it. "What? How?" She asked, wondering who 'we' was. But she couldn't let herself get distracted, not even when Sully got hit by her spell. She wished she had just stunned him, rather than getting revenge for her eyebrows. She blocked Sully's next charm, sending a simple stunning spell his way. She wanted to win.

Sully puffed out his chest proudly when Aisa seemed confused about how he'd managed to make a spell. He was all ready to explain it all to her when Aisa cast her stunning spell. Sully didn't even have time to think about casting a shield charm when it hit him, toppling over, stunned, his mouth still open to brag.

Adorah was rooting Aisa on, even if it was mostly quietly from her seat. When she saw her girlfriend throw the final punch to Sully, she stood up and started clapping! "Woo!" she said quickly and then looked around, placing herself quietly back in her seat. She couldn't help but gleam, but also didn't want to be distracting to anyone around her.

A student using a spell Katherine had never heard of, despite her many years as the head of experimental charms, was rather impressive to say the least. The headmistress couldn't be sure how true Solomon's words were, and any further explanation was cut short by the boy taking a stunning spell. "Well then. Congratulations, Miss Hunter, you are the victor of this round." She announced, stepping off the podium to revive the stunned student.
