It was the first round of the year's duelling tournament, and Katherine lead the first batch of competitors to the raised platform in the centre of the chamber. Gesturing for the two to take their positions opposite each other, the headmistress stepped away, and took her own place at a podium to spectate from. "Competitors, welcome. In a moment, you will begin your first round of duelling. The victor will continue on to additional rounds, and further their chances of winning the title of Champion. Wands out, and prepare yourselves." Katherine spoke with a voice amplified by magic, and allowed the two time to ready their stances. "Bow and commence."​
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

It was Analei's final competition. There was no way she was not going to win it. She had practiced so much, she was sure she was going to win the whole tournament. Analei bowed to Mazikeen, wishing the girl luck, before sending the Tongue Tying Curse towards her straight away.

Mazikeen had been taking part in the duelling for a while, she had never gotten particularly far but it had never bothered her. She just enjoyed it for what it was. She had faced Analei a few times and knew this would be a difficult fight. She took out her wand and bowed to the girl as she was supposed to. She was quick to block the spell fired at her, opting for a non-verbal protego and the followed it with a "Levicorpus,"

Analei smiled when Mazikeen blocked her quickly. Though the tongue tying curse wouldn't have won her the duel, Analei still shouldn't have hoped for a quick match, not against Mazikeen, and not in their final year. Analei followed suit and non-verbally protego'd a shield before sending back "Incarcerous!"

Mazikeen threw up another protego, pleased to use the non-verbal magic that she'd worked hard on, and threw back a simple "Aguamenti,"

Analei was getting ready to prepare herself for whatever Mazikeen threw back but was taken aback by the spell Mazikeen used, that she froze for a second, as the jet of water flew at her. Analei spluttered, now soaking wet and thoroughly embarrassed - how was she supposed to be an Auror if someone using a random spell was going to throw her off? Feeling angry at herself, Analei threw "Diffindo!" with as much strength as she could muster.

It was a rather nice surprise to see her spell hit the other girl, the water soaking the head girl quickly. She felt a little bad about it but this was a duel after all. She blocked the girl's spell, feeling the force of the anger behind it. before casting "Incarcerous,"

Still embarrassed, Analei knew she had to prove herself even more now. She reminded herself to focus, and watched Mazikeen closely, trying to prepare herself for anything. She shot up another shield before shooting "Obscuro!"

Mazikeen was able to block the spell as it rushed towards her, and didn't hesitate to throw back, "Langlock," she cast.

Mazikeen's concentration broke long enough for Analei's spell to hit and for her world to get plunged into darkness. She groaned frustrated and just fired back with a trip jinx, not even thinking about dispelling the spell preventing her from seeing if her spell hit or was even going in the right direction

Analei was glad when she saw her spell had hit Mazikeen, and she grinned. She was a bit surprised when Mazikeen continued firing, but she quickly moved out of the way before sending trying a non verbal 'Expelliarmus'.

Adorah had always found the dueling tournaments rather interesting. While she wasn’t sure she was fit to ever partake in them, she enjoyed seeing others going at it and putting the defensive magic they had learned to good use. She was excited to watch Mazikeen duel, as she had never seen her before, but she hoped all of her positive vibes would go to her former Heta Omega big and help her win. “You got this, Mazikeen!” she shouted to the Gryffindor.

Hearing the encouragement, Mazikeen was quick to cast a finite, which brought back her eye sight, just in time to dodge out the way of spell, but she didn't fire back, instead just taking a moment to catch her breath.

Analei ignored the cheer for Mazikeen, knowing that in real life, she would have to ignore lots of other factors. She had to focus. Mazikeen didn't send a spell her way, and seemed to need a breather after giving herself her eyesight back, so Analei took the opportunity to blast a "Stupefy!" at the blonde.

Mazikeen block the spell towards her but let out a heavy sigh, this was a much more difficult fight. She tossed back a rather weaker "Diffindo,"

Analei was feeling frustrated that Mazikeen just wouldn't go down. She was a strong fighter, that was for sure. Analei blocked the girl's spell sent towards her, before sending "Incendio" back.

Mazikeen raised a shield, but it was not strong enough, weakening and breaking just as the girl's spell sailed through and hit her. Mazikeen instantly froze and fell hard on to the ground

Katherine raised her hands to signal that the duel was over, and descended from her podium. "Analei Louw is the victor." She announced, before moving on to reviving the petrified girl.
