If Chloe Chan had never met her father coincidentally before her first year at Hogwarts, the thought of trying out for her house Quidditch team would never even have crossed her mind once. But with her mother’s not-so-happy consent, she had spent the entire break with him here in New Zealand. Of course, Chloe had missed her mom, but she was also really curious about what her biological father was like. Naturally, she felt some resentment towards both of her parents - her mother for never telling her about the wizarding world and her father for not being around. Heck, he didn’t even know that he had a daughter. But, after the long break, he had taught her how to fly a broom and had miraculously convinced her to try out for the team.
The girl clutched her brand new broom (a gift from Chad) in her hand and took a deep breath, nervously looking around her at the sea of unfamiliar faces. She knew absolutely no one here, and she guessed she was the youngest of the group but tried not to let that bother her. Chloe stepped forward when it was her turn, remembering the positions that Chad had told her she would probably be good at. There was Beater, Seeker and Keeper. Seeker seemed like too much pressure, so she picked the next best one. "Chloe Chan, and I’ll be trying out for, uh, beater." She sento the captain a small smile before she mounted her broom and kicked off the ground, warming up a bit like the others. With a bat in hand, the second year tried to manoeuvre herself at the same time as watching out for any bludgers. When she saw an in coming, she swung the bat far back and took a good swing, sending the ball straight for the other side of the pitch. Man, that felt good! She did the same thing again, keeping an eye out, not being in the way of the other players, and although she missed one or two, she managed to hit the next three, and by the time she hit the last one, it was over. Chloe grinned, she had fun! Her father had been totally right. But, she couldn’t tell her mother about this just yet. She thanked the captain on her way back to the castle.
