With October having graduated Jackson was now sole captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team and the thought made him a little nervous as he made his way to the Quidditch pitch for the new year tryouts. After just missing out on the championship the previous year Jackson was determined to go one further and win it all. Jackson stood in front of the gathered crowd and got things started. "Welcome to tryouts, we came very close last year thanks to excellent effort from our team and this year we have some spaces to fill, please announce your name and position you are trying out for, alternates from last year will need to try out again, good luck,"

Returning players are guaranteed their spots as long as they post attendance in this thread before tryouts are over. Returning alternates must try out again.

First years must PM me if they want to try out. No first years will be allowed to try out unless there are not enough older students.

Zoe had had a great time being a proper part of the Quidditch team in the last year, and over the holidays she had found herself missing the pitch more and more the longer the break went on. She had practiced a bit by herself, but it just wasn't the same as playing with her team. So upon returning to Hogwarts, Quidditch was the first thing Zoe was excited to sign back up for, a giddy whoop escaping her when she saw the tryout notice. She hurried down to the pitch on the tryout day, relieved that she didn't have to try out again. It would be fun just to get back into the air and help the new people out. Once the tryout began Zoe took to the sky with her bat, relishing the wind in her hair, and spent the tryout helping the new people practice and paying attention to who flew particularly well, hoping they would be new teammates.

Lars hadn't been entirely thrilled last year when Fleur had talked him into trying out for the team, but over time, he'd come to appreciate being part of it all. He had decided to return, hoping to get his alternate spot back. Though he also hoped there would be no more games like the last one, which had been terrifying. Lars waited for his turn. Then he spoke. "I'm Lars and I'd like to try out for keeper again." he said softly.

He quickly took to the air and flew in front of the hoops, trying to appear more confident than he felt. He tried to stay calm and remember the practices from last year and how he had done okay. He'd also played a few times, though he tried not to focus on the pressure he'd felt at those matches. To his delight, Lars managed to block the first attempt. He smiled, starting to feel more confident. He blocked the next one too, but let the third one through. In the end, he managed to save three out of five attempts, though one was only a near miss. He hoped he would get to keep his spot on the team from last year, though he knew it wasn't guaranteed.

Sophie was glad to be back for another year, and another year meant another season of Quidditch which the Ravenclaw was very excited for. She still wasn't a very good player on the team but hoped she would get better at the game if she dedicated more time to it. The Ravenclaw made her way down to the Quidditch pitch for tryouts, looking forward to seeing the potential new members for the year. She gathered around with the other members from Ravenclaw House, listening as the captain briefly explained what to do. When they were told to start, Sophie found a spot on the bench to watch everyone from, looking forward to who else would be joining the team for that year.

Katia Hensel wanted to make the Quidditch team, but with determination, she had to figure out a way to make a permanent spot on the team. With the seeker graduated, maybe Katia could go for that. She was swift, fast, and agile. She loved being a chaser, but none were available. She grabbed her broomstick and headed down to the pitch. She tied her long, red hair into a ponytail. She walked up to the captain and announced with confidence, "Katia Hensel, trying out for seeker." Katia smiled, forcefully, but it was just for show, since she wanted to be on the team, no matter the position it was. Katia mounted her broom and took off, doing a couple of laps to get warmed up, before heading toward the skies to catch a snitch a couple of times, if she could manage.

The Ravenclaw flew around while her golden eyes gleamed. She had to find the snitch to prove that she was worthy enough to be on the team. The snitch had the same color as her eyes, so she thought that she could pick it out. Katia finally found one flying around. She hovered closer to her broom, and sped off after it. She flew around more and more, chasing the snitch until her fingers curled around it. She caught it! Katia released it, and it flew off. Katia spent some time flying around, catching it a couple more times before try outs were over. She landed and nodded toward the captain. She only hoped that others did worse than her if they tried out for seeker.

Simon arrived at the quidditch pitch with his broom in hand. He held it lightly as the captain went over what was to happen that day and then nodded along. He was hopeful that they would have a good quidditch season, he felt like they certainly deserved it. The part-veela waited until they could finally get to it and then he shot up into the air and began the practice. He felt good, this would be good.

If Chloe Chan had never met her father coincidentally before her first year at Hogwarts, the thought of trying out for her house Quidditch team would never even have crossed her mind once. But with her mother’s not-so-happy consent, she had spent the entire break with him here in New Zealand. Of course, Chloe had missed her mom, but she was also really curious about what her biological father was like. Naturally, she felt some resentment towards both of her parents - her mother for never telling her about the wizarding world and her father for not being around. Heck, he didn’t even know that he had a daughter. But, after the long break, he had taught her how to fly a broom and had miraculously convinced her to try out for the team.

The girl clutched her brand new broom (a gift from Chad) in her hand and took a deep breath, nervously looking around her at the sea of unfamiliar faces. She knew absolutely no one here, and she guessed she was the youngest of the group but tried not to let that bother her. Chloe stepped forward when it was her turn, remembering the positions that Chad had told her she would probably be good at. There was Beater, Seeker and Keeper. Seeker seemed like too much pressure, so she picked the next best one. "Chloe Chan, and I’ll be trying out for, uh, beater." She sento the captain a small smile before she mounted her broom and kicked off the ground, warming up a bit like the others. With a bat in hand, the second year tried to manoeuvre herself at the same time as watching out for any bludgers. When she saw an in coming, she swung the bat far back and took a good swing, sending the ball straight for the other side of the pitch. Man, that felt good! She did the same thing again, keeping an eye out, not being in the way of the other players, and although she missed one or two, she managed to hit the next three, and by the time she hit the last one, it was over. Chloe grinned, she had fun! Her father had been totally right. But, she couldn’t tell her mother about this just yet. She thanked the captain on her way back to the castle.

Minnie knew it was vitally important that she try-out again, and try-out for the same position as last time. She had been an alternate seeker and the old seeker, the head girl, had graduated, so that left the position open. She was sure that others would want the position but with experience behind her, having actually played in a game though she’d been taken out pretty quickly, Minnie thought her chances were pretty good. Minnie reached the quidditch pitch with the old second hand broom in her hand, a broom her parents had bought her because as an alternate that was all she should get though even then despite having the money she doubted her parents would let her get another broom. She was nervous, sweating a little as she stood amongst the rest of the team and the new people trying out. She hoped that she’d make it. The girl listened to the quidditch captain as he spoke, nodding along with his words. He seemed rather nice, though she needed to focus more upon just getting on the broom and showing that she could do it. The ravenclaw took some long deep breaths as other students stepped forward and either being already on the team flew up into the air or like her were needing to try out. Minnie stepped forward when it was finally her turn, she steeled her expression and looked towards the captain, her parents would be less than pleased if she lost her position or if they picked someone else as seeker after her being an alternate last year. But that wasn’t important now, ”Minnie Calida, trying for seeker once more,” the girl said with a confident tone, opting to not smile but instead keep a determined and concentrated gaze.
With that she hopped on to her broom and flew up into the air. Minnie glanced around her quickly trying to get any first glances at anything sparkly. The girl began flying around, her flying much improved upon the last year, she had increased agility, she’d gotten quicker and certainly looked more at ease on the broom. Even the tiny amount of game that she had played had helped her in learning the ins and outs of how playing actually worked. She spotted a little sparkle of silver and immediately flew after it, as it turned out it wasn’t the snitch but something else. She continued flying around, chasing the occasional snitch spotting until she’d lost it. Minnie got pretty close a few times too, reaching out and being within a hair of the little ball. She didn’t mind, though her parents would not have enjoyed this performance of hers. The ravenclaw was still playing well, pushing herself and dodging more blushers than she had in the little bit of game that she had played. She eventually managed to spot another snitch and raced quickly after it. A little disappointed when the thing seemingly disappeared as soon as she started chasing it. It took a few more false chases before she finally spotted it. The ravenclaw pushed forward and flew quickly, weaving in and out of the other players until she was close enough. With an outstretched hand she was able to grab the snitch. Closing her hand around it, and clutching the fluttering thing tightly, she’d caught it. Perhaps a little quicker than in her first try-out. She let go of the snitch once the captain had seen it and she set off again, there was still time left. The ravenclaw managed to catch the snitch a second time before the try-out was brought to a close. She flew back down to the ground and hoped it might be enough to secure her position as seeker or keep her as an alternate. If she lost her position, minnie wasn’t sure she’d be able to tell her parents about it.

Joshua had said he was done with quidditch after last year's bit of drama with his best friend. That should of discourage him from returning to the team, and let's not forget how bad of a shot he was at throwing the quaffle through the hoops. As rational as his reasons were to quit the team, Joshua made his way to the pitch on the day of tryouts. He hesitantly smiles at the others and reported to Jackson. "Back here again," Joshua nodded and went to get a broom to practice with the rest of the team.

Ever since Kimmyeon had joined the Keas', and Soohye had been a Chaser for Ravenclaw, Taerin had wondered whether it would have been good to follow in the family footsteps and try to play for Ravenclaw's Quidditch team. She was quick and could move in the skies easily, so she reckoned she would be good at it. The fifth year took herself down to the pitch, looking around at the mix of older and younger students who wanted a chance to play too, and she wondered whether she would have had a better outcome if she'd started when she was a second year. Nevertheless, she wasted no time introducing herself and hoping the Captain had known how good her sister had been back in the day. "Taerin Kendall-Wu. I'm going to try out for Chaser." she said, before taking to the skies.

Chaser's were vital, and if the seekers were going to mess up then it would be their points that actually counted for something. Racing after the Quaffle, she managed to grab it from another student as part of a pass, before heading off down the pitch to try and score. Taerin prided herself with having excellent coordination skills; she needed to if she was going to be sneaking things from others without them knowing, so it came as no surprise when she threw it clearly into the middle hoop, gaining some points for the team if they were to have been playing properly. She did this a few more times, only missing one out of a further four shots and that was only because a bludger had been flying towards her and she was too busy dodging it as she threw the ball, but hopefully she'd done enough. Returning to the ground she thanked the captain, and waited to find out what would happen next.

Alexis arrived at the pitch in high spirits. She got the good news over the holidays to the delight of the entire Kramer household. Achim even sent her brand new robes as a gift for getting prefect. Spotting the team, she hurried with a bright smile. She waved at Jackson who was now team captain with October graduated. "Chaser Kramer, reporting for duty.", she quipped. Slinging an arm through Joshua's arm, she greeted her best friend with a quick hug before facing the Ravenclaws who were there for the tryouts.
