The Slytherin team was going to look extremely different by the end of this tryout, Alana Finch knew. She took a deep breath before dropping her things onto the bench and heading off for the shed, using the password to enter and take out some extra brooms and the practice chest. The teenager had been extremely surprised to learn that she'd been named as the successor to Esme and Lucien in the captain's position. This was quite a different responsibility from being a prefect, and she was ready for the challenge. The chance to be in charge of something was not something Alana Finch would pass up.

Ignoring most of the group until it was time, Alana finally turned her attention to the group. Her red eyes were shining with excitement as she began speaking. "My name is Alana Finch, and I'm the captain of the team" she began in a quiet but firm voice. "We lost several good players due to graduation...and other things" she stated, "so if you're looking to take up any of our open positions, you have huge shoes to fill. We're Slytherins, so I expect you to do your best. Otherwise, don't waste my or the team's time." Alana was not going to be made a fool of this season by putting a subpar team on the field. No, they'd be the best or they'd get kicked off the team. It was as simple as that. "Before you begin, I'll need your name and the position you intend to try out for. You are capable of trying out for more than one position. Once in the air, you will take your positions and get started until I call time. Let's get started." Alana kneeled down and opened the game chest, releasing the snitch and bludgers. She handed the quaffle to the first person who declared they were trying out for Chaser.

OOCOut of Character:
Players from the previous year are guaranteed their spot without needing to try out again - as long as attendance is posted before try-outs are over. Alternates, however, will need to try out again.

First years are required to PM me for approval before attempting to try out - which will only be accepted if there is a need for more players.

Lestat Styx felt bad that Avie Mitchell died, but then again, it did let him play in the last game. Sure, that was a bad reason, but now, he was ready to prove that he had it within him to become the full-fledged seeker for the Slytherin team. He was a third year, and rather young, but he believed that he could do it. He was ready to move on from being on the sideline. Lestat was ready to shine, and he was ready. Grabbing his broom, he headed toward the Quidditch pitch. He made it and saw that it was Alana that was the new captain. He looked over the girl, and saw that she was rather hot. But it was a shame that she was older and taken. So, he did not have a single chance in hades. Oh well. He waited for the others before the captain finally started to speak. He listened to the directions before smirking. Oh yes, this was his time to finally shine. And to be better than the other serpents here. It was in his blood.

"Lestat Styx, trying out for seeker," Lestat introduced himself, with a nod to his captain. He was an alternate before, and now he was going to prove himself. He mounted the broom and readied himself as the snitch, and other things, were released. He soared up through the air, and looked for the snitch. He had to find it before anyone else could. His silver eyes darted around like a cat. He just had to find his prey. And then, there it was! Lestat soared after it, with his hand out. Before a few moments, he managed to capture it. He let it go, and went for it again. He only caught it once before before the time was up. But it was better than nothing at all.

After her disastrous performance as Keeper in her one and only appearance for the team so far Georgina was more sure than ever that chaser was the position for her and with two chaser positions open this year was her best chance. She spent the morning polishing her bew broom which she had managed to save for during the past few years. Georgina was so entranced by her new broom that she completely forgot about breakfast. By the time she remembered it was too late, she needed to start making her way down to the quidditch pitch to get ready.

The grounds were too quiet for her liking, she preferred the hustle and bustle when students were running around before classes. There has been a low mood around the Slytherin team after the death of Avie Mitchell. Georgina didn't know the boy well but he was a teammate and his death affected her. Putting all thoughts of Avie out of his head she made her way into the changing rooms, quickly changed into practice robes and went out onto the litch and approached Alana the new captain. "Georgina de Lacey, trying out for chaser," She nodded and mounted her broom.

Georgina couldn't remember how many goals she scored in her previous chaser tryout but she was determined to do better. She picked up the quaffle and made her way to the hoops. She didn't think she just hurled the quaffle towards the hoops and it dinked off the side of the centre hoop and went in."That was terrible," She moaned as she retrieved the quaffle to go again. This time it sailed through the hoop to her right, the keeper just inches from saving it. "Better," Georgina scored her remaining shots until she came to her last one. She was feeling cocky, went to trick the keeper and double back to the unguarded hoop. The keeper sussed her out and made a spectacular diving save. Georgina returned to the ground cursing, she thanked the Captain and made her way back to the changing rooms.

This would be the first time Kimmyeon had done any kind of extra curriciular activity, but she hoped she wouldn't make a fool of herself. She had decided to try out this year for the Slytherin quidditch team. She was a good flyer and her family had pushed her into it as a child. As a competitive student, Kimmyeon thought this would be the perfect way to interact with other students, especially those outside her year group.

She gathered with the others on the quidditch pitch, and instantly recognised a familiar face. Of all people she would be up against Georgina? They met back in their first year, and keen to find out her competition Kimmyeon watched carefully as the Slytherin attempted to score goals. Once finished, Kimmyeon took the quaffle from her classmate, her broom in hand, and strode confidently onto the pitch. Even if she didn't feel it, she wasn't going to show the new Captain that she was in any way nervous. "Kimmyeon Kendall-Wu" she announced. "Trying out for Chaser" the left side of her mouth lifted, she liked how that sounded.

Mounting her broom, she got herself in the zone and kicked off hard into the air. She circled the pitch once, before coming up to the hoops. Kimmyeon was nimble, and suddently she began to weave left to right in the hope of confusing the keeper. And it worked. As she threw the large maroon ball, it sailed past the hip of the keeper and flew perfectly through the open goal. "Yes!" Kimmyeon was elated. She hadn't expected that to work. Over the course of her try-out, Kimmyeon managed to score an additional two goals. Hopefully not too many of the students below saw her fail however, when she completely mistimed a throw and ended up driving into her future teammate. After a brief apology, and picking her game back up, she returned to the ground. She had done all she could and now it was up to the Captain. "Thanks" she added, and returned to the castle, careful not to make too much eye contact with the others waiting for their moment.

Rome had her broom in her hand as she glanced around the pitch, she was eager to be back here, eager to just get started on this season, which she knew was going to be far better than the last, mostly because it wouldn't end on a note like it had last year, where the victory had been stolen from them in the last moment from an undeserving gryffindor team. She glanced at the people on the pitch but was hardly surprised at who had been named captain. It made sense it would be her. Rome didn't care about that, not in the slightest, and rather was just happy to focus on what she had to do that day. Which for her was just practice, so when the new captain had finished explaining to them what exactly they'd be doing and had finished her little speech, Rome got her broom and shot up into the air, happy to be flying around, and keen to aid in these try-outs, plus Rome thoroughly enjoyed being able to hit people with bludgers.

Not being able to be on the team as a first year had been frustrating to the slytherin who had just wanted to be a part of the team, but now, he had the chance. In his hand was the quidditch broom his father had bought for him for exactly this occasion and on the boy's expression was a look of just expecting to be on the team. He felt like he was owed a spot on the team, and in the way he held himself, the slytherin definitely seemed to believe it. He deserved it because he was of course going to be the best trying out. Quidditch was the only time he didn't get others to do things for him, but rather he did them all for himself, though it had taken a lot of his sister to show him how to fly before he really got into it. He had a small smirk on his face as he looked at the other people keen to try-out. He thought he would do best, he assumed that the captain, one of the older girls would see that he was just without even being in the air better and therefore was owed the position. Eventually after the captain had spoken he was able to step forward and begin the try out, "Rory Fergusson, Chaser," he told her rather bluntly the thickness of his accent unavoidable.

With that, he sat upon the emerald streak and let himself shoot up into the air. He had been practicing over the break, being back home in Scotland with all the open space had been good for him, easy for him to fly around to his heart's content so he sat very naturally upon the broom, clearly very much at ease with it and with being so high up. He wasted no further time, grabbing a quaffle and gripping it tight in his arm, no one else was going to get this, he wasn't going to pass it, he was just going to score. Sure he'd probably need to show that he was a team player, but Rory wanted to show he was good, but given that the person who was acting at keeper was older and had more experience than him of actually playing, they managed to catch the ball with ease. It frustrated the scottish boy to no end and if he had been in any other situation he would've either given up or told the person to say that he scored, to have it be that he scored. Instead he couldn't of course do that and had to just accept the failure no matter how much it had annoyed him.

Following this, he just grabbed another quaffle and decided to work with one of the other chasers, passing the ball to them, before pushing the broom forward and having the ball passed back to him, he wasted no time between having the ball in his hands and throwing it, and this time with the speed at which he had thrown the quaffle the keeper missed catching it by centimetres, Rory felt better but he knew he could do better. The boy continued the practice, sometimes working with others no matter how reluctant he was to give up the ball, on his own, he managed to make a few more goals, although, the keeper far more than he was able to get in. He was annoyed by this, but he believed firmly that his performance had been good overall so he should definitely make the team. He deserved it more than the rest trying out for chaser, he was better suited and above all, Rory definitely thought he was the best. His father had played quidditch professionally, he knew far more than these other clueless people, the position was his for the taking in his mind, no doubt about it.

Kayleigh was so ready to get back into Quidditch. Without playing, she realized as the recent holidays went by, that she had a bit of rage and she figured she was only able to get through the year without throttling the annoying First Years because she was able to hit the bludger at people. She wasn't looking forward to the try-outs, but they apparently all had to be there, so she irritably made her way to the pitch, even though she wasn't going to get to play. Still, Kayleigh was stoked that Alana made captain. She smiled at her friend before clearing off the pitch so the newbies could show what they were made of.

Asaiah Murphy reluctantly made his way over to the Quidditch Pitch after lunch, though determined to show Alana that he was better than the two Beaters currently on the team, Kayleigh and Rome, even if the two of them had slightly more experience with playing Beater than he did. Once Asaiah arrived at the pitch he immediately walked towards Alana, and greeted her with a friendly smile, softly leaning on his Sienna Storm as he waited for the new Slytherin captain to talk. After Alana was done talking Asaiah stepped forward, ''Asaiah Murphy, trying out for Beater.'' he said knowing all to well that he was going to be an alternate again most likey. After that Asaiah mounted his broomstick, tapped on the handle twice with his own Beater's bat, the one he got from Wyatt as a Christmas present, and shot off into the air.

So far the third year had hit most of his targets, and had only missed a Bludger once. Which was surpsingly good for him come to think about it. Happy with his results so far, Asaiah kept going after Bludgers until Alana called time. Although the thought of him only being an alternate still lingered in the back of his head, Asaiah had to admit that he was having fun whilst doing the try out again.

Ezra knew that the Quidditch landscape would be very different at Hogwarts than at Durmstrang. Nobody knew him, the site of him and his club didn't strike fear into the hearts of chasers everywhere. He would need to change that. The beaters on the Slytherin team were young, and not going anywhere. Ezra knew no matter how good he was in his tryout, loyalty was a big part of the Hogwarts Quidditch teams so he doubted he would be able to unseat anyone. That in mind Ezra made a decision that he would tryout for one of the positions that were open. Even if that meant playing chaser.

The new Slytherin entered the Quidditch pitch and made his way over to the captain. She was a pretty girl, hopefully she knew what was doing on the Quidditch pitch. "Ezra Cade, trying out for chaser," he grumbled and mounted his broom. Ezra took possession of the Quaffle and flew towards the hoops where a would be keeper was waiting. He grinned as he sized up his opponent and prepared to take his shots. The first shot soared just beyond the grasp of the keeper and through the hoop. Ezra scooped up the Quaffle and went for his second shot. He whistled as it sailed through the hoop before the keeper had time to react. His next two shots also wet in, one straight through the middle hoop the other off to the left hand side. Ezra misjudged his final shot, he didn't put enough power behind it and the keeper was able to comfortably save it. He cursed under his breath as he made it back down to the ground and left the pitch without making eye contact with the captain.

Quidditch was Charlotte's favourite sport in the world and it was something she missed the most during the holidays. The Slytherin was extremely excited for the upcoming year of games, especially since she knew that Esme was no longer part of the team, and skipped all the way to the Quidditch Pitch to attend this year's tryout with a big smile upon her face. They were going to do well this year and Charlotte was very positive that they might even get the house cup this time, despite the loss of talented teammates from the year before. Nonetheless, she still kept her hopes up and smiled at her new captain who just so happened to be the keeper of the team. As the people trying out began to try to impress the captain, Charlotte tried her best to give each of them tips as they played, hoping that the new chasers on the team weren't going to be too bad to play with.

Tryouts will close soon, so if you're 2ND year or above interested in posting, get to it!

Alana was happy with how tryouts had gone. She'd seen all of the old faces and several new ones, and she was hopeful that she could put together a winning team from this bunch. Calling for time, Alana thanked everyone for coming. "I'll be posting the team in the common room. First practice will be Thursday evening 6:30." With that, Alana began to clean up.

OOCOut of Character:
Thanks for trying out. Keep an eye on the board in the common room to see if you've made the team.
