For someone who could see the future, little came as a surprise to Esme anymore, but receiving the title of Slytherin Captain alongside Lucien had been a pleasant one. Out of the members of the team her friend was the only one whom posed any real competition for the spot, so the two as co-captains worked out perfectly for her. Together, they would have no problem knocking out the opposing houses and winning the cup for their last year at the academy. It was their final chance, and Esme was not going to let victory slip through her fingers. Not this time.

With Lucien by her side, and the pitch set up for the house try outs, Esme waited for the arrival of the would-be players. The Quidditch box rumbled at the witches feet, the bludgers strapped tightly down inside already restless and waiting to escape its confines - a whole 149 pounds of solid iron itching to be released. Esme placed her heel firmly on the lid to silence its rumblings, and her eyes surveyed the distant faces of approaching students bearing green ties. It had been difficult not to scratch some of the previous members names from the list - Charlotte's, in particular - and part of her hoped the brat wouldn't make an appearance.

As soon as what she assumed would be everyone had gathered, the seeress began. "Welcome. For those of you who, somehow, don't know who I am - my name is Esme Lancaster. My partner here is Lucien Snow and we are your new captains this year. We're Chasers, which sets the standard for that position if anyone is interest in filling as an alternate. We are not looking for players who are here just for fun. I want to see passion and dedication. You are either in it to win, or not at all. I hope I make myself clear." She stopped speaking, scrutinizing the faces of those who were present, trying to discern which among them were really set on playing for the cup. She didn't think the other teams would pose much of a threat this year as they had last, especially given whom had been elected for their house captains. But that did not give Slytherin room to slack off. "Now, before you all take to the air, I'll need your names and the positions you intend to try out for. You are capable of trying out for more than one. Once in the air, you will be instructed to take your positions. I don't think I need to explain what each position is required to do. If anyone doesn't know, feel free to leave now, otherwise, step forward, speak your name, and get ready to take off. We start now." She finished and removed her heel from the box, kicked open its front latches, and prepared for them to begin.

OOCOut of Character:
Players from the previous year are guaranteed their spot without needing to try out again - as long as attendance is posted before try-outs are over. Alternates, however, will need to try out again.

Despite there currently being only one position available, there is always a chance prior members might not return, and a need for alternates if players are unavailable. First years are required to PM me for approval before attempting to try out - which will only be accepted if there is a need for more players.

Asaiah Murphy was excited about attending the Slytherin try-outs. Quidditch was in his blood; the popular sport was played by his father, grandfather, brother and older sister, and they all played for their houses back in the day. The second year Slytherin had been training with his brother and sisters during the holidays whenever his parents were at work or getting groceries. Today he was ready to show the two new co-captains his beater skills. Asaiah hurriedly put on his robes and gear, and with his Sienna Storm in his right hand, in his left a Beater's bat and made his way to the Quidditch Pitch.

Asaiah walked onto the Pitch, ready to give it his ultimate best. The boy was not a newbie to this sport. Asaiah wanted to prove to Esme and Lucien that he was a good beater, that he had trained hard, and that he really enjoyed playing Quidditch with all his heart. The second year greeted everyone and waited for Esme to finish her speech untill he stepped forward like she told them to and said, ''I'm Asaiah Murphy and I'll be trying out for the position of beater!'' with excitement in his voice.

As soon as he said his name, the Slytherin mounted his broomstick and kicked himself off the ground and into the air, one hand holding on to his broom and the other hand clutching his Beater's bat firmly. After the kid was done flying a lap around the pitch out of excitement, he flew over to the other beaters. Asaiah began a bit rough, not hitting every bludger that was send his way, but eventually recovered himself from the poor start he had, sending most bludger the right way and preventing the others from trying to hit him.

Avie could not have been happier for his two closest friends if his life depended on it, they would make the best quidditch team captains ever, and Avie was so excited to help them win, he wanted that more than anything in the world. But it took all of his might as he arrived at the pitch to not throw his arms around them both in a greeting and instead held back just as Esme explained what they would be doing today, how the try-outs were going to work and since he'd been on the team since his second year he knew how these things went. The teen was glad when things finally got underway and he approached the two captains, "We're going to win this," he told them, with a sure nod, "Cross my heart and hope to die," he promised them both before grabbing his broom and shooting up into the air, while he didn't need to try out, he was still needing to get his skills up and improved, so that he would in the end catch the snitch in their games.

Rome had been an alternate on the quidditch team last year, and had no played one game, but this semester it would be different, she knew it, the third year felt confident in herself and in her anger that she would achieve in this game. The teen had her beater bat in hand, which she had gotten shortly after making the team last semester even though it had rarely been used for quidditch and was listening to the new Captains speak at the front, she liked who'd been picked, in the relative sense that they made the most amount of sense as the people who should be captains, they were good players and a great team. The girl wanted nothing more than to improve her own playing and get even better at it. The teen had practiced, as much as she could over the break and was happy with her own progress since last year's try-outs. The teen knew that she was more confident, and that she would just overall be better at it. They would have a great team this semester, that much she was sure of, all of their chasers were great, and everything would enable them a victory.

Finally the new captain stopped speaking and when it came to her, Rome stepped up, "Rome Savage, trying out for beater," the teen said with confidence, hoping they'd at least remember her, and then hopped on the broom and shot up into the sky. She took a few moments to do a few laps, get herself steady and ready and then began the try-out, Rome still had some faults in her flying, much like her temper it was erratic and she would fly closer to people than likely was supposed to, she missed the first bludger but his the second exactly on target, sending it flying where it was supposed to. She protected herself from a few bludgers but overall managed quite well in hitting bludgers, no massive blunders and her anger and drive as she swung the bat showed every time that she did. Rome who had a lot of anger in general found that quidditch and hitting the bludger were definitely a good and positive way for her to release all that anger which just built inside of her. Eventually the try-outs came to an end and Rome flew back to the ground, a confident smile on her face, hoping she had done enough this time around to just hopefully remain on the team.

Alana had trained as much as she could during the break, which was to say not much at all. Her parents didn’t allow her her own broom, finding the sport a waste of time and energy, so she had to make due with the bit of practice she’d had at Chaos’ home. And, she’d been one of the first to take advantage of the open sessions on the pitch as soon as the school year began. Having saved up for five years, Alana had just made the purchase of her very own broom, an Amethyst streak, the day prior to leaving for school. Alana had a lot of work ahead of her, wanting to take nothing for granted. She was small, shorter than most of her teammates, and she knew that meant she had to work twice as hard especially at her position. Not surprised to see Esme and Lucien at the front of the group, their new captains, Alana leaned on her new broom, happy to finally no longer have to rely on the school’s Cleansweeps and listened on. She glanced around, her eyes narrowing at the little girl who’d attacked her and Matthew the year before.

With a sigh of relief, Alana was happy that she was included in the students who didn’t need to try out again. She’d feared that with Lucien and Esme at the helm, they might have made how she’d performed during their last game. Perhaps Chaos had been right and everyone had been to blame in the loss. Maybe she had been too hard on herself. Still, Alana took to the skies, helping the others during their tryouts and getting some additional practice in.

Firmiana, with her new broom in her left hand, strolled toward the Quidditch pitch. Her hair already in a messy bun. The twelve year old is very determine to get on the team whether she'll be with the main guys or just an alternate. Firmiana found out over the winter that her new found family has been playing Quidditch since forever, her uncle even mentioned that her parents too played for their house team. Though, she's still new on flying, the practice her and her her cousins did was enough to master her balance.

Arriving at the pitch, there were quite a few people already. In front facing the rest of the team and aspiring players was an older girl and an older blonde guy. Firmiana had seen the team played last school year and the dark haired girl was a great chaser, strict, but great. She was doing the greeting and instructions which thankfully, Firmiana heard it on time. She gulped her nervousness as Firmiana step up a bit and said, "I'm Firmiana Asterion, trying out for the beater position." After that, she grab a club, mounted her new broom and kicked off the field. The winter wind sharp as it touches her face. The broom didn't even glitch a bit as Firmiana controlled it with ease, stopping where she was needed.

Club in her left hand, she readied herself from the first bludger that came in her way and with her first swing Firmiana hit it hard toward her target which a first attempt success. She did another one until her arm got the hang of it. Her cousins were right, Quidditch is a lot of fun. Though, when the last bludger came toward her, it nearly knock her out to the next century. Firmiana avoided it by simply ducking. Thankfully, her reflex were pretty fast.

With a bounce in her step, Kayleigh walked down to Quidditch, broom in hand. She was feeling great; she'd had an amazing break and was feeling on top of the world. She even had a boyfriend! And Kayleigh loved spending time with him, and tried to as often as she could. Of course, he had his own life, and he spent a lot of time with his best friend, but Kayleigh didn't mind that, because the time they did spend together was wonderful.
Hearing Esme's speech, Kayleigh was glad she was already part of the team. She was incredibly intimidating, but Kayleigh was excited for the push that the two captains would give them all, she was excited to win and to have like-minded people on the team.

It was Charlotte's second year of Quidditch and she was very excited. She hadn't been able to play much at home and was looking very forward to being up on a broom again. She skipped all the way to the Quidditch Pitch to attend this year's tryout with a big smile upon her face. They were going to do well this year and Charlotte was very positive that they might even get the house cup this time. Unfortunately, when she finally made it to the pitch, Charlotte's smile instantly disappeared when her eyes lay on Esme standing at the front. She was obviously this year's captain and Charlotte was slightly terrified of her position. What were they thinking making Esme the captain? She was obviously going to take the position for granted and Charlotte had no doubt of that in her mind, especially once she began patronizing the second years who were trying out for the team. Charlotte took up to the skies once Esme was done with her speech and tried her best to help all of the newcomers out, hoping that they didn't feel too threatened by the Esme's words.

Lucien Snow could hardly believe that his brother was made Head Boy of all the others, but he didn't care. He was captain with Esme, and that was definitely enough for him. He just knew that the other houses were going down. He arrived on the pitch a little later than necessary, but he had to find his broom which was stuffed under his bed, and clean it off. He practiced all summer, and hoped that everyone would be able to actually win something. He found his place next to Esme, giving her a nod, before watching the others try out.

Georgina had made the decision early on that she would not be trying out as a seeker again. Although her flying abilities had improved during her year as an alternate to Avie, she knew she could never live up to his standard when the older boy graduated. It was not a good mindset for a de Lacey but she didn't care, she would not pursue mediocrity, instead she would find the position she was good at. When Georgina entered the Quidditch pitch she felt her heart sink as she laid eyes on who the new Captain was. It was Esme, the girl suddenly felt her chances at making the team, even as an alternate again decrease before her very eyes. The new captain was not a fan of Georgina and had had come out and said in her own words that she didn't belong in Slytherin.

The girl walked up to her new captain and swallowed hard. "Georgina de Lacey, trying out for chaser," She quickly turned away from the girl and mounted her sleek new emerald streak and took to the air. Determined to prove herself, Georgina took hold of a quaffle and flew over to the hoops. Her first shot was dead centre, she sent the keeper to her left and scored an easy goal. Her second attempt smacked the inside of the right hoop before falling inside for another goal. Georgina started feeling confident. That would prove to be a mistake, she attempted to go for the middle hoop again but the keeper was too smart for that and remained in place for an easy save. Georgina did however get back on track by scoring her final two attempts to finish with four goals out of five attempts, enough to make the team she hoped. Though no doubt Esme's expectations were more unrealistic than her predecessor.

There was only one thing on the mind of Lestat Styx. He was trying out for Quidditch this year. Quidditch was not really known throughout the Styx family, but his generation was different. His older half-brother was a beater, and a captain a while back. Lestat wanted to be the same when he grew older. But there was a position that he thought that was more suited to him than beater. And that was seeker. He understood that there was one already on the team, but this was different. Avie Mitchell would eventually graduate, and that might mean that he would earn that spot on his own. He knew the captains in a very offhand way, with one being in a relationship with his cousin, and the other one being his cousin but was not the cousin that was in a relationship with the co-captain. Lestat managed to confuse himself with that as he put on his robes. His father said that he would loan him a few more galleons if he made the team, to get himself a broom. Otherwise, he would not need it. Lestat borrowed a broom from the school and made his way to the pitch, hoping not to waste his valuable time. Or theirs.

The teenager walked up to the captains and looked at both of them. He gave a subtle smirk and announced coolly, but full of confidence, “Lestat Styx, trying out for seeker. And congrats to you both.” He looked over at the seeker and hoped that he would just drop off the broom and hit his head or something. He mounted his broom, and did a couple of laps to get warmed up before taking to the skies, higher and higher to search for the golden ball that would end the game. His silver eyes looked to and fro, looking for that little ball. If there was something that he inherited from his father, it was how to observe and take in all of his surroundings. Eventually, within five minutes, he managed to find one. Lestat pushed on the broom, urging it to go faster, which it did but it protested. Lestat pushed with his hand outstretched, before snagging the ball and stopping abruptly, almost enough to toss him off the old broom. He let it go, and continued to practice until he caught it a few more times, almost concerned with damaging the wing. Whatever, it was not his snitch so why would he worry? Landing, he put the broom away and walked off, wondering if he made the team, and thus, a new broom as well.

Hayden was thrilled when he received permission to tru out for the house team, it was just a shame that first years were not allowed to have their own brooms, it meant Hayden would have to use a school broom that by all accounts looked like charmed sweeping brooms, the boy would have to wait until next year before he could bring his own emerald streak. Hayden made his way out onto the pitch in his borrowed robes clutching his tatty borrowed broom and approached the two co-captains. "Hayden Lavish, trying out for chaser,"

With that he mounted his broom and grabbed a quaffle before taking off. He made his way over to the hoops to begin his goal attempts. Hayden scored his first two, easily sending the keeper on both occasions but on the third he hesitated and the keeper made an easy save in front of the middle hoop. Somehow his fourth shot was saved by the keepers finger tips. The Slytherin slammed his hand on the broom handle amd retrieved the quaffle for his final shot, he scored, forcing the keeper left and slotting the quaffle in the center hoop. He returned to the ground very disappointed in his tryout.

Esme took naturally to the role of judging the other students performances, something she'd already inwardly been doing since she started Quidditch. From above, she watched those attempting their tryouts closely, seeing where they excelled, and especially, where they failed. The practice passed quickly and eventually, the seeress blew her whistle, calling them all back to solid ground.

"Some of you impressed me more than others, and some of you failed to impress me at all." She spoke clearly over the group of students before her, eyeing each with the same look of judgement. She had an idea of who would make the team and who wouldn't, but she still needed to confer with her friend before making the final call. Until then, the newbies would have to wait to find out their results. "That will be all. Leave, get yourselves cleaned up, and check back in the common room later today. Those who made the team will be posted there. Those who did not...well." She shook her head with a small sigh. "Be glad I won't be here if you decide to try out again next year. You're all dismissed."

OOCOut of Character:
The new team will be posted on the Bulletin Board later today, and players will be contacted via PM regarding the upcoming game.
