Sloane rather enjoyed the electives fair the last couple of years. She didn't know how long it had been running, but it had been there for as long as she had at least. She had been teaching for nearly two years now and she was quite proud of that. So far it had all been so popular with students and she definitely hoped that it stayed that way because it was a great opportunity for the students to ask questions of the professors. Though Sloane's door was always open, she didn't have all of the answers when it came to electives and so she could really only point them in the right direction. When she was studying, maybe an electives fair would have helped her out a little when it came to what she needed to get done. She'd had to guess for most of her electives, but it had luckily all worked out rather well in the end, which she was quite happy with. Sloane was mostly excited to help the students to make decisions by allowing them to see what would be on offer and pointing them in the right direction. This was extremely important for their further education and she wasn't going to let an opportunity go to waste.

Sloane was confident that most of the professors would know what they were doing now and so as she set up, she made sure that everything was in place. She had all of the resources readily available and there were some information booklets at the doors to give a bit of an overview on each of the classes which could then be explained in more detail by the professors that taught them. She had some information herself, but she was not the advanced muggle studies professor, that was Jonathon. Still, she would be able to answer questions for those that wanted to head into the advanced class and anything she couldn't answer she was sure she could point them to him, but she didn't expect there to be a problem. As the Hufflepuff head of house, she had to make sure that she was available for any of her students, and anyone else that needed a question answered. That was he job after all. Flicking her wand at the doors, they opened and Sloane took her seat, waiting for the students to arrive.

Professor Kingsley stepped into the Great Hall. It had been Sloane's year to set up the fair, and she'd done a great job. "Hey Sloane" she greeted as she headed for the Ancient Runes table. She placed some items on the table that she'd brought with her, glass runes and wood ones, thinking it might be fun to do an actual reading for an interested student. The Gryffindor HoH had notified all of her students of the event, so she hoped to see a fair amount of them taking this decision seriously and not just picking electives out of a hat as she had. Luckily, it had worked out for her well enough.

Tholomyes was unsure what classes he was going to take, he had done a lot of different classes and he hadn't at Hogwarts quite found what he was good at, or had been good at, they didn't have languages or arts which he'd always been better at than everything else. The brown haired boy had a small information sheet that his sister had written for him about the classes that were on offer to him so that he could read up and ask the appropriate questions but as he stepped into the electives fair the boy wasn't sure what would be the thing for him, he had no idea about future careers for someone like him, Tholomyes wasn't particularly good at anything, he got relatively okay grades, he'd been trying a lot harder this semester than in most others but none of that helped in trying to figure out what he wanted to do. In the hall Theo stood awkwardly at the edge shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he wanted to find Emma and just follow whatever she was doing, but the young belgian boy couldn't yet spot her in amongst the still small crowd. He didn't know who to talk and how to phrase that he no idea at all what he wanted to do after school not thinking that he would ever do well enough in anything to be able to make a career out of it.

It seemed like it didn't take long for the electives fair to come around and Charlotte was very eager to have a look. She had no idea what she wanted to be when she was older and only hoped that the school offered some subjects that she was interested in and would help her in whatever she felt like doing. Picking subjects seemed like a very important thing to do and Charlotte really did not want to pick something boring. She had thought about it for a while and now was her chance to go to the elective fair and ask the questions she had been meaning to ask forever. She skipped to the Great Hall with the rest of the second years and found herself walking over to the ancient runes stall. "What is this even about?" she asked the Gryffindor Head of House as she eyed all of the unusual symbols on the table. She found it interesting that they each had a different meaning and wanted to know if the subject would be interesting enough for her to learn.

The woman looked up as a student came over to the table. She jumped right into her question, and the professor smiled slightly before leaning closer to the table from her seat. “Ancient Runes is the study of runic symbols and how to interpret them. I also teach you how to make your own runes in the course” she added, pointing to the wooden runes that were there. The Gryffindor Head of House continued on, “It’s a good course to take if you plan on teaching the subject or if you plan on going into journalism, magical law, and several other careers.” It was never too soon for the students to start thinking about their futures. They wouldn’t be in school forever. “Or just for fun as well.”

Charlotte found it interesting how she could make her own runes. Her eyes lit up at the professor's words. "Does that mean the runes I make can be added to the dictionary or something so everyone can use it? I mean, there's an English dictionary so what about a rune dictionary?" she asked excitedly, unsure whether she wanted to do it or not. Journalism or magical law definitely wasn't something that Charlotte was interested in as of yet but it still made her curious. She wondered how exactly making your own runes was going to help you in magical law and was really eager to find out if she decided she was going to take it.

Jonathan was quite pleased with how popular the Elective Fairs were becoming. This was the fourth year of it happening and, well, it wouldn't have made it this far if it didn't prove popular and useful for the students. Jonathan was a firm believer of choosing electives been one of the hardest moments of a students life up until that point. Being at such a young age it was a lot of stress for the students to think about the rest of their lives and what they wanted to do with it so they could choose the best subjects. Regardless of been such a difficult decision for a lot of them no-one was ever harmed in the process so it wasn't that scary. Jonathan looked forward to these fairs as he could talk to his pupils in a much more relaxed situation than all sitting in the stuffy common room and making it easier for them to approach him if they had any questions to ask and not feel embarrassed as they might if they had their classmates watching them as they would in the common room.

Seeing as this was the fourth year of this happening Jonathan felt people were more comfortable and that the elective professors were more prepared for the types of questions they would get from the students and have all of their resources readily available. Jonathan had a small folder tucked under his arm with his own information ready if anyone approached him. He wasn't a Professor that taught an elective class but as Ravenclaw Head of House it was important for him to be there for any of his students. With the flick of his wand he opened up the doors of the Great Hall and waited for the students to arrive.

Cairo bypassed the information booklets at the door as he walked into the electives fair. He had an idea of the electives he wanted to take and he planned to seek more information about them before Rome arrived. She wasn't against any of his interests but he knew that once she showed up they would both focus on finding electives for her rather than Cairo looking at the electives he wanted to take himself. That was why the young Slytherin made a beeline for where the one of the muggle studies professor's sat and why he wasted no time asking her one of the many questions he had in his head before giving the professor any kind of a greeting. "Do we learn anything about music in Muggle Studies?" He asked. Cairo was of course from a musical family. Anything to do with music was more like second nature to him and though he had no interest to pursue music outside of school, he knew that it could be an interesting and fun subject to learn about in school even if it was in small doses. As he grew older he knew he would face his OWL and NEWT years and a subject that taught music in some form, at some point during the school year would be a subject he would not need to stress about when the important exams rolled around. "What about celebrities? Do we learn about celebrities that are famous for music?"

The electives fair was always entertaining for Jon. He loved talking about Muggle studies, whether it be to the students in his class or to students he hoped would be in his classes come the time where they began their fifth year and the electives fair helped him do just that. Granted, he preferred to keep a lower profile around the school and was not near as well known as Sloane, nor near as useful considering he didn't teach the earlier years of Muggle studies but he never let that hold him back from attending the electives fair and creating interest in the younger years towards a subject he was clearly passionate about and that year was not going to be an exception. He strolled into the great hall with a cup of coffee in his hand in perfect time to catch a student asking Sloane about muggle studies. Jon was not equipped to answer the student's first question but he was happy to leave that to Sloane and instead answer the second question the student asked. "Pop culture and celebrities are a subject in fifth and sixth year muggle studies. The fifth year curriculum is more focused on actors and actresses but the sixth year curriculum involves projects where you could involve musicians if you wanted to." He said confidently, sipping from the cup of coffee in his hand and then smiling at the second year before he spoke again. "Is there anything else you would like to ask?"

Rome wandered into the Great Hall, she hadn't wanted to come to this, but Cairo had told her to come, and so here she was, she had no interest in the electives, she barely liked the classes she did already and just didn't want to have to take on more than she should, but the platinum blonde knew that her brother thought it would be important, and spending the time with her brother at this thing would be better than having to go it alone. In the hall, her eyes scanned the room until they fell easily upon her brother standing at some stall, and as Rome approached and over heard part of the conversation she realised this was muggle studies. The slytherin assumed her position next to Cairo and gave a hard glare at the professor as he asked if there were any further questions, "What's the importance of studying muggle studies?" she asked the man a little sharply, "What careers is muggle studies useful for?" Rome didn't care about it, and there was a slight sneer in her voice as she asked, as if thinking that Muggle Studies was useless, since muggles themselves were useless, Cairo was just going to have to happy that Rome made the effort to even come to this event.

Professor Kalif Styx did not want to be where he was right now, which was the Great Hall. He had been here for the past twenty years, and now, he was pretty much babysitting the snakes while they talked about their electives. He had done this for so long, he practically knew what every job required without having to look it up first. Too many children went through this and wasted their time. He sighed, and stood off to the side, leaning against the wall. He figured that if anyone needed something, they would ask the elective professors before they would come to him.

Amy knew the time had come to start deciding which classes she wanted to take for the rest of her years at Hogwarts New Zealand, and she had a few thoughts already about which electives she wanted to take. The only thing she needed to do now was figure out which ones were needed for her career. She figured she would ask the electives professors, and so without any further thoughts, she stepped into the Great Hall. Amy noticed she wasn't the first one here, there were a few other students with each electives professor, but one in particular stood out to her, and she headed towards Professor Kingsley. Out of curiosity she picked a booklet and started reading it, and then after a few minutes a question popped into her head. She waited a moment to let another Slytherin girl get her information before asking what she had in mind. "So would Ancient Runes help at all with healing?" The Hufflepuff was genuinely curious, she had a few career options in mind and she had to make sure she got the correct information and as much as she could before the fair was over. She did not want to be left in the dark about anything. "I have a few careers in mind, but I'm not sure if Ancient Runes will be of use with being a Healer, or to work with animals. Or maybe even to work in the Ministry?" Her eyes lit up when she expressed what she considered her career options to be to the Gryffindor Head. Hopefully she could help her narrow it down to just two, Amy was a bubbly person so she smiled apologetically at the Professor for her ridiculous babbling. She was very eager to learn more about this class. Maybe she would take it as a class that was different from the rest, it would give her a chance to do something new, even if it didn't exactly correspond with her careers. Professor was another option, but she knew that she would have to decide on what she wanted to teach and then take that specific class, so she didn't think about being Professor right now.

"I'm afraid not" the woman replied with a shake of head as a Hufflepuff girl came by the table. "It is useful for some of the Ministry positions. Mostly, it depends which one you're interested in" Cyndi continued after the young girl had finished speaking. "You'll definitely want to visit Care of Magical Creatures if you're keen on working with animals" she added, nodding towards the table where the Care of Magical Creatures subject would be spoken about. "Ancient Runes is pretty useful if you're keen on learning a bit more about yourself, and if you like nature at all. We spend a lot of time working with wood in fourth year."

The other student that arrived didn't catch Jon off guard but he had to admit her questions had him dumbfounded. Regardless he smiled at her and tried to answer the questions as eloquently and confidently as he could. "Muggle studies is important because it is a way for magical folk to understand how the muggle world works. It can be useful in many different ways, with knowledge on muggles you might be better able to understand and blend in to their world and you could even be a part of it if you wanted to." He sipped from his coffee again, allowing himself a moment to gather his next answer though it was in vain when his mind turned blank. Careers that Muggle studies was useful for was something he was completely ignorant about and he realized that he should probably know a little more about that. "I don't actually know what careers Muggle studies is useful for. But I'm sure my colleague Professor Stark would be able to answer that." He shrugged before nodding towards the other Muggle studies professor and set a goal in his mind to research what careers require Muggle Studies as a subject, both for his own benefit and for the benefit of his students so he could answer similar questions properly in the future.

Maddie walked into the Great Hall for the Elective Fair as instructed by her Head of House. Even though Maddie knew what she wanted to do already she didn't want to upset or get into anymore trouble with Professor Kingsley so she looked for a Professor to go and talk to. She waved to her best friends Amy and Charlotte as she made her way to the Care of Magical Creatures stall to ask more about the subject that she was really interested in taking.

The word compulsory was not something James liked to hear and hated following even more but never the less he entered the Great hall for the electives fair on the orders of Professor Kingsley. He was in enough trouble with her already without risking any more. James had one subject in mind already, he was open to the others but in the meantime he headed straight for the Care of magical creatures stall, where he found Maddie, of course he did. He opted to keep quiet and instead had a nosey around the stall, maybe he would speak to the Professor.

Amy thanked Professor Kingsley for answering her questions and gave her useful information, and took her advice. She walked over to the Care of Magical Creatures stall to get more insight on the subject. As appealing as Ancient Runes sounded, Amy knew she had to make careful choices about the classes she would take in her third year. She noticed her best friend Maddie wave at her and she waved back, before Maddie came to where Amy was. She waited until she had read a few lines from the Care of Magical Creatures booklet before putting it back down, sighing. She would just have to ask questions to the elective professor about the class, it would probably be more useful.

Wren was dutifully notified of all the events that Professors were required to attend, and he usually made it to all of them thanks to his Snidget-shaped alarm clock. He was nervous coming down from the North Tower to present the subject of Divination to prospective students, but no one would know any different as his demeanour remained dreamy and contemplative as usual.

He was pleased to find seats available for some of the Professors, and he set up camp in one with a crystal ball, some tarot cards and some basic cut runes for scrying. He intended to answer questions and do some readings for the second years who were interested in Divination, but the French Professor soon sabotaged himself by falling asleep in the chair, his arms still wrapped around the large misty globe.

Arvo was happy to hear that the Electives Fair was running once more, though though that it could be on a higher floor in order to allow him to avoid all those dreadful stairs. But, there was nothing to be done - it was better than teaching Divination, at least. That would be more stairs to climb, and seeing as he was already on the Sixth floor, he really didn't need more stairs knitted into his daily routine. When he took the job he fully acknowledged that it was in a castle, but never actually made the connection that a castle would have two billion stairs until he had to climb them all on a daily basis. A fact that amused his awful wife every day.

He greeted his fellow professors as he entered, and found a nice place to plant himself. Arithmancy often seemed to be intimidating some students, but the pint sized professor wanted to ensure his students that there was nothing to fear. After all, he was there to help them, always.
