We Will Rock You

[Sapphire Michaels]

Sapphire sat at her house table, a plate full of food, bored out of her mind. She looked around at her housemates and idly wondered why she'd been put in Slytherin. She got along a bit better with the two Gryffindors she'd encountered than she did with these kids. She sighed and fiddled with her food. Diana seemed alright, but Saph had a feeling she was just looking for something to gossip about. And as for Anastasie, the only thing that had gotten her to talk to Saph in the first place was talking about herself.

Saph needed a friend in this house, and she wasn't quite sure either of them wanted to be. Maybe she needed to try talking to more of her fellow first years. Or maybe she should try the older kids. But they all had established friends and cliques by now, which of them would even think of talking to her? Saph propped her elbow on the table, leaning her head into her fist. Making friends with a Slytherin was hard.

Lost in thought, she did what she always did when she was super out of it. She began to tap her foot to whatever song was in her head. Only this time she didn't do it quietly. She stomped her foot twice before slapping the table with her hand. She repeated the process rhythmically one, two, three times before someone pulled her out of her thoughts.

Zennon, quite possibly, loved food, or the process of eating, much more than anything else in his life right now. He went through phases of what he liked and didn't like and he had to wonder if maybe he should start to try some consistency in his life. Though thought immediately made him laugh because who cared about consistency. Rolling his eyes as he looked around for any of his friends upon entering the great hall, he sighed when he resigned himself to the fact that he never tended to see any of them at breakfast, he was either too early or too late. Considering he had a few in different houses now he had to wonder if that was some crazy feat or the cosmos trying to tell him something. Shrugging, he sat with the other first years and smiled at them as he started to pile his plate with different foods. He wasn't any particular type of eater, but he liked different types of food and liked to see what Hogwarts had on offer daily. It always seemed to be something different, so he wasn't surprised when he was always eating something different in the mornings, lunches and dinners. It made it more interesting for sure.

Zennon had almost finished his breakfast when he noticed a girl who appeared to be lost in thought tapping away to a song in her head. He smiled, he thought it was cute at first until she kept getting louder and was then smacking the table. A few of the other Slytherins didn't seem to be happy about it and Zennon gave some of them a hard look before he turned his attention back to her. "Hey! What's that you're doing? Is it s song? I've never heard it before!" He said standing up and walking around to join her on her side of the table.

Sapph stilled as another first year approached her. She looked up at him with her sapphire eyes, slightly surprised. This bloke seemed a bit more... approachable than some of the other kids in their house. His question caught her off guard, she had been doing something? Judging by the looks those other kids were giving her though, she knew what it was. Well, at least it was a good song.

She watched him as he sat next to her. "Uh... yeah. Hi. It's an anthem for muggles, I guess. One of the greatest songs ever written. I didn't realize I was doing it, sorry to bug you."

He didn't look very bugged, though. More curious. She wondered if she should teach him the lyrics. The idea made her smile a little. No one in Slytherin would ever talk to her again. She held out her hand, bemused. "Sapphire Michaels."
