Vanity took her job as team captain of Slytherin seriously. She wanted to wint his year. So she had decided that a good way to gather some information on the other teams was to spy on their tryouts. She really needed to watch the Gryffindor tryouts, but today she had some time and decided Ravenclaw was also a good team to look at. It wasn't really that much of a threat, but she didn't want to underestimate them either. She was wearing a big sunhat and sunglasses to hide her identity, but wasn't really trying that hard to stay hidden. Sitting at the lowest part of the stands, she had a notebook in her hand and scribbled down things while peering over her glasses. Lucy Montague was such an annoying person, and somehow she had gotten the Head Girl position. Ugh. Vanity didn't want it for herself, but she still didn't look forward to listening to Lucy at the prefect meeting. The Ravenclaw tryouts were, unsurprisingly, pretty boring. Just the usual team and a new girl who looked like a firstie but was probably a second year. She yawned. Maybe spying on them was a waste of time.

Lucy was proud of her team and their work ethic. They all put in their best, and even though she was never the most competitive person, something about it being her last year at Hogwarts had kicked things into gear for her. Most importantly, she couldn't stand to lose against Slytherin or Gryffindor. Hufflepuff, she wouldn't mind if they won. Lucy liked Marley a lot. She was musing on their prospects this year when her eyes trailed from one of the players in the air to the stands. As usual, there were some watching - however, she noticed very clearly someone suspicious-looking. Lucy frowned. A big hat and sunglasses were a classic disguise and for a moment she wondered if Teddy was playing a prank on her. She flew a bit closer to get a better look and noticed with a huff who it was. Without informing anyone else, she landed in front of the stands and walked up to the girl in disguise. Yes, it was almost definitely Vanity. A frown clouded Lucy's face. "What are you doing, spying on us?!" Lucy asked in a hiss, keeping herself relatively quiet to try and deter attention from herself. "Hardly sportmans-like behaviour, Vanity."

Vanity was doodling in the margins of her notes when she noticed Lucy flying her way. She made sure to look even more bored and unbothered, just to annoy her. When she landed in front of her, Vanity made a show of slowly pulling her sunglasses down so she could look at her. "I never claimed to be sportsman-like." She said in a bored tone. "And you can hardly call it spying if the tryouts are this boring." She faked a yawn. "Look, I just started doodling halfway through. You guys are clearly no threat." She said, showing her the little picture she had doodled. A girl, that looked somewhat like Lucy, flying into the goalposts with a sad cartoon face. Vanity leaned back, propping her feet up on the seats in front of her. "Why are you so bothered? I'm sure you'll have a thrilling finale... against Hufflepuff when you compete for third place." She said with a smirk.

Vanity's apparent boredness irritated Lucy. Lucy bristled, frustrated that Vanity was like this - always had been like this. "My team is very good, thank-you-very-much. We have something called a work ethic, don't know if you've ever heard of it." Lucy huffed as she looked at the little doodle, rolling her eyes. "Really?" she asked, her voice dripping in vitriol. She had an urge to grab the doodle and scrunch it up but she was very aware that they were in public and people were potentially watching their exchange. "Just you watch, Vanity. This is Ravenclaw's year this year. We're taking Slytherin down." She said this very emphatically. "Unlike you, I don't need to spy on others to succeed," she then added quickly with an air of smugness.

It was always so nice when Vanity could really get to someone, and Lucy made it so easy. She smiled as she took the sunglasses off completely, taking her time folding them up as if she was entirely bored. "Dunno what that is." She said with a fake yawn. When Lucy went on to talk about it being Ravenclaw's year, she laughed softly. "Gryffindor is going to crush you in the first match, and I'll be laughing from the stands." She said sweetly.
