The Beginning of the Revolution

Harley was absolutely seething. "Yes, if you're not here to be helpful you go!" She snapped to a younger boy, patience entirely gone. She was relieved that at least one of that argumentative band seemed to have some common sense in leading the others out, and she accepted the bottle he gave her, though she scoffed in his face. "I don't care how clumsy you are." She snapped. "Get out of here and don't come near us again." She handed the ointment off to a girl with dyed hair who looked more able to help than Harley would be in her furious state. Just as it looked like the coast was clear yet another up himself older student approached and Harley tensed, her hackles up as he began mocking them. "We organised a peaceful f***ing meeting of the minds, don't blame us for other people's actions against us." She snapped, squaring up. She wouldn't let the boy's age or height advantages intimidate her, sneering up at him. "If you're not here to be helpful take it somewhere else."

The words of the boy turning up late almost didn't make it through Harley's anger fugue, but she managed to gather herself enough to answer. "If you see problems in our society and think it's worth trying to change them, stick around. We met here to discuss ideas. If you're just here to make a fuss the door's over there." It was a harsher tone than was probably diplomatic to use with someone just asking a simple question, but Harley's blood was boiling and it was hard to tone it down.

Oliver almost slapped himself when he realized he'd actually turned his head to look for this "door". The girl who spoke to him was a bit harsh, but at least it didn't look like she'd punch him in the face. "Okay... Well, yeah, of course there are problems with our society. I'll stay and listen to what you have to say." He decided, thinking it would be rude not to hear her out. Maybe he didn't agree with everything he was hearing, but Oliver liked the fact that they wanted to do something about it. That and the fact that this girl had super cool hair.

As much as Gwen disliked the posters around the school, the Gryffindor could not avoid them. It scared her that wizards thought they could actually survive if the exposed themselves to the muggle world. With Gwen being put up for adoption simply because her biological parents thought that her magical outbursts were 'evil', Gwen knew the revolution wouldn't work. It was pointless and she knew that war would break out again if that were to happen. As the girl tried to make her way to class through the courtyard she soon became lost in the crowd of people listening to the older Slytherin girl try to stand up for everyone. Some people agreed, but some people also didn't, causing quite the argument. The usually vocal first year kept herself out of it however. She didn't want to get herself angry in front of everyone and expose herself to the many people that were there. Instead, she watched in awe as a boy punched another boy before quickly pushing past others to get out of there, tears running down her hot face. There was no way the revolution was going to work but she wasn't ready to tell anyone that.

The thought of a revolution never came across Alexis' mind. Seeing the posters around the castle prompted her to check it out in the courtyard. Reaching the place, she already expected the big crowd but not the face punching she had just witnessed. She looked around for a professor and saw Prof. Styx but had not made a move. Yet. She carefully inched closer to the crowd and spotted Oliver Foy at the edge. She came up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder,"Hey!What's going on here?", she softly asked, not wanting others to hear her. The older students seemed fueled up with tension and did not want to make it worse.

Cyan nodded as she took the ointment from the student with a saylors mouth. She looked over the item for a Monet trying to make heads or tails. When she finally felt able to do something with it other than stare and try to remember her first few years of potions, she opened it. "Hey him, what's your name?" She asked before showing him the cream, or attempting to. "Can I put this on you, is that okay?" She asked permission and waited patiently. If he couldn't answer perhaps the girl who had rushed to him first could.

When Lilyanna heard about the revolution, the Slytherin was very eager to check it out. She had always been interested in the muggle world and what could happen if the wizarding world and the muggle world were joined together. She knew that very good things could happen and was interested in listening to everyone else's opinion on the matter. However, as Lilyanna made her way to the courtyard she did not expect such a large crowd. Lilyanna did not like this and covered her ears with her hands as she tried to push herself through the crowd, making her way towards the commotion. An argument was definitely underway and as the girl witnessed a boy punch another boy she wondered why no professor was doing anything about it. "What the f***? What the f***? What the f***?" she repeated softly to herself, pacing up and down with her hands still over her ears. She didn't know what to do or what exactly was happening. She had obviously missed something big, and as the girl continued to pace, she felt everything spinning around her, eager for the arguing and violence to just be over with.

Wynne hadn't expected for any violence to break out, and she edged herself further and further away from the violence and yelling, feeling uncomfortable. The Asian woman found herself near someone who seemed even more panicked about the situation. Quietly she asked, with all the courage she could muster, "Are you okay?" Was she a part of the revolution or was she against it? Regardless the repeated use of the f word meant she was probably not okay. She looked at the older, brunette student, then back at the crowd. Maybe she should have stayed out of it.

Though the scenery was a little on the chaotic side, someone's temper was bound to flair. Kalif did not really expect it to be anyone other than his own house, but he was wrong. Link Potter. Rolling his eyes, he made his way to the Gryffindor, tapping him on the shoulder before ordering, "Kingsley's office. Now." He turned his gaze to Murphy before saying, "Hospital wing if that bothers you." Kalif wondered if he should leave to ensure that Mr. Potter made his way to his Head of House's office or not, considering the tempers that were rising from this. He spotted one of his prefects and figured that if push came to shove, she might be able to inform him of anything else, should something else happen.

Lilyanna was drawing attention to herself, and when a younger Hufflepuff student spoke up about it she immediately regretted walking into the crowd. She didn't like the fact she was concerned about her and didn't know how to make it all stop. "I-I don't know." she stammered, still pacing. She wanted more than anything for the girl to go away and moved her hands away from her ears, turning them into fists."Why are we fighting? Muggles are intelligent people, as are we. If we combine our knowledge and work together it might work. There's no need to fight. There's no need to fight!" Lilyanna didn't mind an intelligent debate, but this was getting really out of hand and couldn't believe how immature people were being about it. At least now the professor had dealt with it and Lilyanna could feel herself calming down.

Hayley stood helplessly on the steps as the situation before her deteriorated at an alarming pace. She desperately wanted to say something, anything, but with all the shouting she had no opportunity to get a word in edgeways. There were a lot of people who seemed to not be listening to what she was saying at all, merely getting outraged on behalf of their family connections, whoever those were. But there were also a lot of people who had clearly thought along the same lines as she had, if not to such a radical conclusion. Then one of the boys who had been most vocally against her punched a supporter in the face. Hayley gaped, frozen in panic. This was not how this was supposed to go! This was so unbelievably far from how this was supposed to go, she wasn't sure how it could be salvaged. But already Harley and a few other people were starting to break the fight up. Thank goodness. Hayley was intensely grateful to her best friend.

In the face of Harley's defence, she pulled herself together. Hayley had started this disaster, she would have to finish it. "OKAY!" she shouted to be heard over the crowd. "THAT'S ENOUGH! This was supposed to be a peaceful event! An exchange of ideas!" Hayley was shaking. She wanted to cry at how far away from that ideal it had come, but she had to keep herself together long enough to finish it, to stay strong and act like a leader. She had an idea, and reached down to pull a piece of paper out of her bag, giving her the moment she needed to gather her emotions as well as to retrieve what she wanted. "Anyone who still wants to have a civilised exchange of ideas, if you'll put your name here I'll get back to you. Future events will not be like this! This event was not supposed to be like this!" She paused, thinking. Hayley could see a lot of people in the crowd who seemed interested, but who were freaked out by what had happened. How could she encourage them, reassure them that this wouldn't happen again. "You don't have to agree with everything I say, but if you'd like to talk about this further in a calm and reasonable way, I intend to arrange that."

OOCOut of Character:
This got way out of hand. As Hayley says, I will start a thread elsewhere later for more reasonable discussion. It'll get really messy if we actually try to do IC sign-ups, so if your character wants to be on the list for that and you haven't posted there already, please post in the OOC discussion thread. I'll post a list there I can update to keep track of it.
