Adira didnt say a single word the whole time she since she entered the great hall she just kept to her self, she watched each student get sorted, she tapped her hands against her leg begining to get a tad impaitent as she waited for her go to go up, she thought her time would never come,

Ater, Adira

Adira walked up, her head started to think about her name, 'what a stupid name' she thought to herself, 'why does my name have to mean strong, and my last name dark' She thought as she slwoly came infront of the chair 'strong dark, stupid name' she thought to herself as she turned around and sat on the stool, her expression was blank, she had gotten used to not expressing emotion, she looked out into crowd, she sat, and waited.

"No doubt about you. SLYTHERIN!"

Zara waited, her joy bubbeling inside her, she couldnt wait to be sorted, her grin split across her face, she watched Student and student get sorted, she made sure she remembered there face and name as they went up to the stool, remembering names wasnt a hard task for her, she rolled on her heels and waited for her name

"Carley, Zara"

She was so excited she almost ran to the stage but stopped her self and calmed herself, she carefully walked up to the stool as fast as she could without making it obvious that she was Excited, she had read about the sorting hat, she read about how it has many owners, and it has been at the school since it started, how its stored in the headmasters tower, with a quick turn, Zara turned around and took a seat on the three-legged stool, she looked out into the crowd a grin across her face, she awaited her fate, as the hat was placed on her head.

"I see great wisdom in you. Yes, you belong in RAVENCLAW!"

Faith was sitting down reading, she was reading a very interesting book she had found in her bag that she hadn't seemed to have read before, she must have forgotten about it. She wasn't listening to what was going on, she had her face buried in the book, she squinted her eyes as they text began to get, what it seemed like, smaller.

"Faith Lovelight" the man at the front of the hall shouted, she jumped at the voice and put her hand on her chest in the fright of it all. She walked up slowly, placing the book she was reading back on the bench, and walked cautiously towards the man with a tatty old hat, that seemed the have what seemed like creces of a face on it, it was rather extra-ordinary she thought that this wall all happening.

She walked up, the headmaster placed the hat on her head, this quite scary, she could almost in a sense feel the hat rumaging through her head. 'Not Slytherin, Not Gryffindor, Not Slytherin, Not Gryffindor' she kept repeating in her head, anything but those houses she thought, she would feel like the whole world was ending if she was placed in those houses.

She closed her eyes and calmed down, she let the hat do as it pleased, whats the worst that could happen, it's not as if she was going to die in a second once the hat was placed on, she thought about everything she had known before, her old friends back home and how she would explain everything to them, but she couldn't, like her mother said, she couldn't expose them to any muggle at all.

She waited for the moment that she knew would make her jump, she was always a paranoid person, she was the kind of girl who could sit through an entire scary movie and not scream one bit, but jump and scream when the toast pops out of a toaster. There she sat, her eyes tightly shut, waiting for the hat to speak.

"No, you certainly don't belong in Gryffindor or Slytherin. The house that suits you most is HUFFLEPUFF!"

Steel yourself, girl. Don’t show you’re nervous. Act confident and you will be.

Jeod shifted. Despite all the self-help banter buzzing in her mind, she was still nervous. So many people. She didn’t like to be around people.

“Jeod Shruikan”

It took a moment to sink in that that was her name. She hadn’t really been expecting it. She took a deep breath, held her head high, and walked to the stool.

As Jeod looked out at all the people, the nervousness began to bubble up again. At first she hardly noticed when the hat was placed on her head.

"You're one that will do best in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Alex Jay walked into the great hall "it's so big" she said to herself. She saw a three legged stool. Her name was called and butterflies flew around in her stomach. Her mind was full with thoughts of what house she was going to be in. She said while she was walking up "please don't let me be in slyerin or ravenclaw."

The hat was placed on her head and those thoughts still went through her head and the hat said,

"With such courage within you can only belong to GRYFFINDOR!"

The sound of students chattering filled Taylor's ears, as she listened for her name. She usually loved being in situations like this, she didn't know why, but she did.

"Marino, Taylor." she gulped, and stood up shakily. She glanced over at the Ravenclaw table, and mentally crossed her fingers. The hall suddenly seemed one hundred times bigger, the stool seemed miles away. Each step seemed to drain her energy, as the small girl walked forward.

Click, click, click. Taylor's shoes tapped as she took each step. Finally she was beside the stool. Her long brown hair hid her pale face. She sat down, and saw the inside of the hat as it was lowered onto her head. She hoped with all her heart that she would be in Ravenclaw. Ray-ven-claw, Ray-ven-claw. she chanted in her head, until she was only thinking of the blue and bronze of her favourite house.

"I know you want Ravenclaw, but you belong in GRYFFINDOR!"

Gabriella's long dark brown hair fell around her face, as she read her book. About to be sorted, and her nose was in a book. Typical.

"Marino, Gabriella." the professor called. Gabriella scowled, as she put the book away in her robe pocket. She hated to be disturbed while reading! She walked up to the stool, feeling self-concious. She sat down on the stool, and felt the hat in her head. Please let me be in Raveclaw. she thought.

"Alright, RAVENCLAW!"

Ares looked around. He'd just found out his muggle born cousin was at hogwarts. He wondered if he'd run into her anytime soon.
He heard Neita was in Hufflepuff, please he thought... anything but hufflepuff.
He thought about the school year that was approaching.. 'I just wanna do really really well, and get excellent grades, then my family will
be happy.. and i'll be happy' he though to himself..
Ares heard his name called, walked up to the stool, sat down put the hat on and prayed the hat would put him in the right house.

"RAVENCLAW!"

Vanessa was really looking forward to this moment, where she could be the sole focus of everyones attention. She looked across to the Gryffindor table, which was pretty easy considering the large banners which hung magically from the ceiling. Glancing at each face on the table, one by one, she saw her sisters face. She appeared to be smiling at her. After a bit, Jade must have been talking to her friends, she could not see her anymore.

A professor had stood up and said a few words. The sorting hat he mentioned, must have been the one sitting atop a three legged stool at the front. Once the professor had finished, the sorting hat sung out a poem that she could not hear very well. Vanessa was getting quite excited, watching her fellow first years be sorted.

After a few minutes she heard her name be called out, "Caja, Vanessa!"

She strode up to the stool, a bit nervous, but enjoying it just the same. She placed it on her head with ease. She shone with a large glossy smile. (She had remembered to put on her lip gloss before hand.) She did not mumble to the hat as she had seen others do. She would accept whatever decision the sorting would make. She waited with anticipation for the sorting hat's decision.

"I can see great successes for you in SLYTHERIN!"

Kelsey stood nervously with the other students. From what she had worked out, houses were a big deal here. Her cousin Becky was in her second year, a Hufflepuff, Kelsey remembered. She wondered if she would be a Hufflepuff.... I hope not. she thought. Kelsey didn't have anything against Hufflepuffs, but she didn't think she's fit in with them. Slytherin? Definately not! She was cunning, but she wasn't mean like most Slytherins. Gryffindor? Hmm... Kelsey wasn't exactly brave, she did have a tendency to get into trouble though!

She would probably be a Ravenclaw: she spent the whole train trip reading, and the car trip before that. And the plane trip..... Well, Kelsey spent a little bit much time reading. Kelsey would love to be a Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.

She looked for Becky at the Hufflepuff table, but couldn't see her. Never mind, she hadn't exactly liked her goody-good cousin anyway.

"Adams, Kelsey." the professor called.

Yikes! she thought, and pushed her way through the crowd of unsorted students. Each step bought her closer to her fate. She was dimly aware of the chatter around her, and then she was sitting on the stool.

She thought of nothing as the hat was placed on her head. She looked at each table, imagining what it would be like to be sitting there.

"There is only one place where you belong and that is, RAVENCLAW!"

Oliver watched as the crowd of first years decreased in numbers. His last name began with a W, so he knew he would be one of the last to get sorted. But he did not mind. He actually felt comfortable in front of so many people, their eyes watching, curious to see who would join their house, already quick to judge who would most likely hold some talent, and who would not. Oliver snickered.
When Ares was called to the sorting hat, Oliver's eyes quickly followed his friend as he made his way to the stubby stool set in the center of the podium. Crossing his fingers he hoped Ares would make Ravenclaw, seeing as that was the house he was nearly certain he'd be sorted into. When the hat spat out 'Ravenclaw' not long after it had been placed on Ares' head, Oliver had to beat down the urge to dance in delight. Now he had an even bigger reason to get sorted into Ravenclaw. If they got separated, Oliver could not imagine what he would do.
"Walden, Oliver!"
Oliver did not save a moment for delay, and before long, he found himself seated on the stool. Let's get this over with already! he thought as the hat was lowered onto his head.

"Not much of a choice with you, is there? RAVENCLAW!"

Ace had his head down. Running his tounge along his teeth as he scuffed his new shoes on the clear marble flood, making the minamil amount of noise to have fun but not get noticed. The wait was almost getting to much, he could smell food coming from somewhere, he didn't care where he sat aslong as the food was better than homes like he had heard. Kids were pushing past him as names were slowly read out, cheers flooding the room, happy that the eyes werent on him yet. Clicking his nuckels he pushed the scragly blonde hair away behind his ears.

"Green, Wallace"

"It's Ace..." He muttered, woundering if his feet were going to move at all. But this could be no worse than all the eyes he had on him for his mothers funeral. There were just as many people who didn't know who he was there than there was here. He had heard of the houses, all of them rushing into his mind as he walked past the tables, the colours vibrant and obvious to each house personality. If he had learnt anything on the trip over, it was the yellow people he liked. They were kind and thorful, not pushy or mean. They had character like him. Ace didn't have brains, nor talent. There was never any thinking, just action. They said thinks straight up and were honest. Some were shy, it mainly was the variety.

But before his mind could wander anywhere else he pulled up his robes incase of tripping and kicked the stool. A few teachers watched curiously. There wasn't a seat Ace didn't test, his brothers could play some mean tricks. Ignoring the giggles he huffed and took a seat.

As it slipped over his head he had just one thing to say.

"Just put me where I'm happily undesturbed..."

"Unfortunatly that may not be where you belong. No, you belong in GRYFFINDOR!"

Amy cooly walks into the great hall. She looks around excitedly. She can't wait to make new friends.

"Ryder, Amy" They called out.

Amy eagerly walks up to the stool, puts the hat on and awaits its judgement thinking. 'Please dont let me be hufflepuff... anything but hufflepuff!!'

"No, no. Not Hufflepuff. GRYFFINDOR!"

Myste, was waiting for her name to be called. She was getting mildly agrevated, why was it taking so long? She really didn't care what a talking had to say! Finally, that hat stoped, and the headmaster started calling out names. She was paying just enough attention to know when her name was called out, she just wanted to get this over with. Just then she heard her name.

"White, Myste."

She sighed, and walked up the the stool. The hat really was ugly, she didn't know if she wanted to put it on her head. But she knew she had too. She picked up the hat, sat down on the stool, and set the hat on her head. She sighed. Well hat, put me where you must...just please not Hufflepuff.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Jessica clenched and unclenched her fists. She hoped the sorting hat would put her where she belonged, that emblem was the only one who could make any improvement to this drab plain black robes. She sneered at the mudbloods, and she couldn't believe she had to put on a hat that they wore.

"Williamson, Jessica."

'Finally.'

Sauntering up to the chair, she sat down and wrinkled her nose slightly as the dirty hat was placed on her head. 'Gross. Now hat, place me right where I belong. Otherwise I won't be pleased.' She thought angrily.

"I don't give a care whether you're pleased. At any rate, you will be. SLYTHERIN!"

She wrinkled her nose once more, and stood up taking the hat off and throwing it onto the seat. She walked over to the Slytherin table which was cheering loudly, and smiled at her friends. Most of her cousins had been there, so she was glad they were in her house as were.

'Welcome to the best house.' Someone whispered to her. "Thankyou." She said brightly, indeed it was the best house.

Ray walks into the hall.. she is feeling really nervous and for some reason light headed..

She walks down the never ending carpet stretched out infront of her..

She gazes around at the many people staring at her..

"Hillard Ray" is called out and so she walks to the direction of the call.. She sits down on the stool and puts the hat on and awaits its judgment..

"I have no doubt that you belong in GRYFFINDOR!"

Cuthbert was literally sweating buckets his armpits were drenched in sweat, droplets forming on his upper lip and lets not even go into where else he was developing liquids. this was it the big sorting ceremony as he waited for his name to be called he stared at his shoes... they were nice shoes he remembers buying them because they had pictures of rockets on them. however in reality his shoes did not run like they had rockets. in reality his shoes were just shoes, this was upsetting...

while Cuthbert was engrossed in his shoes he didnt hear his name called the first 3 times however on the fourth time he was startled by the shrill bark of the professor. he apologised and sat himself on the stool as the massive hat was put on his head...by head i mean hair it balanced on top of his many curls. he heard a few sniggers in the hall.

the sorting hat was started to push down his hair working itsway to his brain when it said..

"Ravenclaw or Gryffindor for you. I think you might do best in GRYFFINDOR!"

Seth was in his normal outfit. No he hadn't gotten his uniform yet. Actually he hadn't got any of his school supplies yet. He did always seem to wait until the last minute for just about everything. That was just how Seth was. He waited until the last minute to do everything that he didn't really want to do. That included some of his least favorite classes. Though when Seth did get to it he did the best possible. That was just how he worked.

Walking into the great hall, Seth was right away amazed with the floating candles and just the imense area of the dinning area. Soon he would be at one of the four house tables, but which one was he going to be put at. Ravenclaw was his first choice though he wasn't sure if he completely fit there. The only reason was that he put things off until the last minute. If Ravenclaw wasn't the choice Seth could see himself in Gryffindor. He did love to break the rules and go on adventures.

Hufflepuff didn't see the choice at all but Seth could live with it. He guessed he was nice enough to everyone. Slytherin was probably better than Hufflepuff but still Seth didnt' see how he could be in Slytherin. Seth did have a small attitude and he could be really awful towards people that messed with him first, but still.

With all the choices up for the open, Seth heard his name called.

"Rosman, Seth"

With a small nod, he made his way up to the stool. The hat was placed on his head.

"No, you don't belong in Slytherin or Hufflepuff. You fit in most in GRYFFINDOR!"

Sian walked into the hall, nervously with the other first years. She saw a tall woman with her hair tied back in bun and she was wearing a velvetly green robe and a hat. Next to her was a stool with a black hat sitting on top of it.

She stands behind the other students and she starts thinking, "What if my name is called out? Whatif they send me home?" She was thinking I cannot go back home after I have seen today, it will be very strange to go back home after this.

Some students had been sorted and I was amazed out how some times the Sorting Hat took a long time to make a decision and sometimes he made one as soon as he hit the students head.

Next thing I hear is the Professor calling my name: "Williams, Sian"

I started walking to the stool, it seemed that it would take forever. I could feel my legs shaking and I never thought I was going to make it. I finally got there and sat down on the stool, the Professor smiled at me before she put the Sorting Hat on my head. The Sorting Hat was really big on me, I could see anything but black. It was really dark and I was getting worried.

Next thing I hear something in my ear and I jumped and all I could think was I hope no one saw that.

"You seem like a fair and loyal person. You belong in HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Esquire, Vivienne!"

Rising slowly, I walked calmly towards the stool. Well, at least I looked calm. Inside, I was shaking like a leaf. This was not what I had expected at all. While I had been told, and read in many books as to what Hogwarts would be like, I never thought it would be this.. magical. Back home, magic was only used for a few things, like difficult chores and Quidditch. Here, there were floating candles, an enchanted ceiling, and teachers that looked like something straight out of a fairytale. I definitely had a lot to learn.
As I looked around, most of the older students looked friendly enough, except for maybe the table with students dressed in green.. They looked a bit harsher. I quickly thought about which house I would prefer, weighing out the pros and cons. On one hand, Gryffindor had a good reputation, and many of my ancestors had come from there. But on the other hand, many of my friends had already been sorted into Ravenclaw, so I would probably fit in there better. I was definitely more intellectual than bold.
I sat down on the wobbly stool, and the sorting hat was places on my head..

"HUFFLEPUFF!"
(Please remember to role play in the third person. :) )

I watched as the list of new students slowly got sorted, waiting for my turn.

"Tipley, Arianna"

My stomach clenched, and I stumbled foward nervously to sit on the stool. My breath caught as the hat fell down over my eyes. I could feel my knees shaking, but didn't really care if anyone saw, they had all been through this before, and had somehow survived it. At this moment, I wasn't worried about which house I was put in, just that I would be put in one at all. Somewhere deep down I knew that was stupid, because I was obviously a witch, I'd know it since I was eight, when I was riding my neighbours pony on the road, and it had taken off and jumped a fence. I should have taken a really nasty fall, but I had somehow found myself sitting safely in a nearby tree. There had been other incidents like this one, that I had somehow come out of unharmed.
Deliberatly calming myself down, I listened to the sorting hats words.

"Your personality places you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Eddie stood up as his name was called for the Sorting. He walked rather quickly down the aisle, more trying to get the stiffness out of his legs than anything else. He wasn't particularly nervous about the Sorting; he tended to keep to himself anyway, so the whole teamwork and such thing was kind of lost on him, and it wouldn't really matter where he was placed. He just hoped he didn't end up in one of the dumber Houses, where he was instantly going to be the smartest in his Year, and everybody would be bugging him for help with everything; he hated that.

By this point, he had basically reached the podium. He walked up the last few steps, turned, sat in the chair, ignoring the stares of the rest of the school, and jammed the Sorting Hat down all the way over his face. He reclined back in the chair, stifled a yawn, and hoped the Hat would sort him fast. After all this waiting through everybody elses's sorting, he was bored out of his wits, and wanted to get back to reading one of the books he had kept from his experiences in the Muggle world, the book written by one of his favorite authors, by the name of Naomi Novik.

Eddie's mind began to drift off, and he only just barely managed to keep it alert; if he missed the announcing of his House, he'd be up there that much longer. He doubted this whole experience was going to be worth the wait....school is as school does; boring, boring, and yet still more boring. It would take something drastic to change his opinion of this school....and everything in it.

"I see a great love of charms in you, practical magic seems to be your calling. You'll do well in GRYFFINDOR!"

Zach stood up confidently. He was ready to hear what the sorting hat had to say. He glanced at his friends who were just recently sorted into Slytherin. They gave him courage and told him to think of what he wanted to hear. He sat down nervously but yet very proud and ready to take on what would come. His hands were slightly shaking. His friends from Slytherin he met on the train were making faces and he smiled a bit. and waited.....

"No need to worry. You're with them. SLYTHERIN!"

"Richards, Dylan."

Dylan looked towards the front of the hall, his name had just been called. Finally, time for me to get sorted into a house, he thought to himself excitedly. He was a little nervous, but for the most part he wasn't. Why should he be? He was just getting sorted into a house, that was all. Of course, he did have a specifec house that he would prefer to be in. Gryffindor. His dad had been in that house, as well as his older siblings. He supposed it didn't matter, but that was the house he wanted in.

Dylan arose from his seat and walked up to the front. He sat down on the stool and waited for the Sorting Hat to be placed on his head. It was. Now he waited for it to speak with anticipation.

"Just like you want... GRYFFINDOR!"
