She couldn't understand why her parents had sent her to Hogwarts in New Zealand when she was in the same area as Beauxbatons. She didn't mind all too much though, school was school. She was sure she was going to have a horrible time at Hogwarts like she would any other school. The only difference between this svhool and any other muggle school was the magic. Her father was a wizard and her mother was muggle, which made her a half-blood.

She watched as other first years took their turns getting sorted. She tapped her foot as she waited, she was anxious to see which hluse she would be placed in. Finially, her name was called and she took a seat and the sorting hat was placed upon her head. She had watched others get sorted and she was impressed with the hat's abilities

"You certainly put on an air of apathy, but beneath all the pretence it's quite clear that you're a caring person who wants others to appreciate you - and for that I'm really rather excited to see you show a bit of your truer self in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Scarlett looked up at the ceiling of the Great Hall in amazement before glancing around the room, her eyes finally settling on the battered looking hat sitting on a stool. She stood up briefly on her toes to get a better look, immediately realizing the hat had to have something to do with the sorting process her parents had been so secretive about. Both of them had attended Hogwarts Scotland, and had told her about the different houses, but whenever sorting came up they just smiled and told her she'd have to wait and find out.

The boy next to her snickered when it was said the hat would determine their house and Scarlett made no attempt to hide her eye roll. Such silliness and denseness would not be tolerated in her own home. "That hat knows more than you ever will" she muttered, just loud enough for the boy to hear. Tradition and knowledge were two of the values held by her family, and the boy's ignorance demonstrated neither one. She made no further conversation with the boy, other than a sharp look of disapproval when he poked her in the side in an attempt to further pester her.

As the professor in the front of the room grew closer to reading aloud the G names, Scarlett's excitement mingled with nervousness. Her mother came from a line of Slytherins, but her father had been the first Slytherin on his side of the family in quite some time. Though her father rarely spoke of it, she knew her father had been slightly rejected from his family because of his house placement. Scarlett herself could sense a difference in the way her paternal grandparents treated her and the way they treated her cousins. Her parents made openly snide remarks about Hufflepuffs, which was the house Scarlett was almost certain the idiotic boy next to her would be sort into. His nose even sort of looked like a badger's.

Once her name was called, Scarlett calmly approached the stool and scooted onto it, her feet dangling just slightly above the floor. With nothing to look at by the tables in front of her, she waited for the hat to be slipped onto her head. Even though she knew little of how it worked, other than some obviously powerful magic, she had little doubt that the hat would place her where she belonged-- she just hoped it wasn't the same house as badger face boy, because she couldn't imagine that working out very well for either one of them.

"I wonder how your parents might respond if they found out you were a Hufflepuff? Or how surprised you might be to find that 'badger face boy' is really a Slytherin? Making snap judgements like you are can really hurt your future ambitions in ways you'd never even expect: a real Slytherin keeps friends close and enemies closer and always aims to be fully aware of the consequences of any bridge they might choose to burn: just a helpful piece of advice, hopefully it will get you somewhere with your peers in SLYTHERIN!"

The last meal Aiden and his twin brother Lucas had with their mother had been uneventful. Before leaving for Hogwarts New Zealand to be sorted the boys had eaten fruit loops and milk, but only after much protest on Aiden's part. Ever since the new baby his mother and step father had tried to rule out all sweet treats and send the family on a health kick in hopes the twins might settle down and stop making so much trouble. Though Lucas remained a rather passive child, when egged on by Aiden the two could cause strife in any situation, that last morning had been no exception. By 9am stepfather Nathaniel had already tripped on a stray broomstick, drunken breast milk and sat on a whoopee cushion and the pranks wouldn't end there. Aiden knew his parents would likely be glad to get free of him and send him off to Hogwarts to follow in their footsteps but he didn't want to make the farewell easy on them. Sitting down to a bowl of oatmeal Aiden had taking one bite and spit it out exclaiming, much to both parents' disgust, "Merlin's beard! This tastes like crap!" producing the usual response from both adults wondering where he had learnt such language whilst his brothers burst out laughing. Getting these responses seemed to be all Aiden had bothered with as of late, attention seeking was his game, and he was good at it too. So to be truthful the idea of starting a new school was a little daunting, he wondered if he would get the attention he wanted, and if he could get far enough away from Lucas to make his own name. More than just a prankster, Aiden had grown into general trouble making, breaking things in the house with his over active antics and cuss filled complaints, but would this persona hold up at a new school? He knew the next seven years would make his personality and his future, so of course he had confided in his uncle Izaak Finch, who had himself been a Slytherin and quite the party boy when he was in school with Aiden's mother. Having acted as a stand in father for Aiden and Lucas when they were younger, Aiden had thought Izaak was the pinnacle of cool, so was eager to please him and follow in his footsteps. It seemed though Aiden didn't know who he was going to be upon starting the new school, he at least knew it was going to be a fun ride. Ambitious as ever, the ten year old already knew he wanted to make himself a name, and a successful career so it only seemed right he had spoken to his uncle whom he idolised, and his new step father's cousin nonetheless. After chowing down on the hard earned fruit loops and enduring an embarrassing, yet secretly not unwelcome, motherly hug and tousle of hair from Nate, Aiden and Lucas were Hogwarts bound and at the start of a new life and new adventures

Arriving in the hall to be sorted Aiden felt small, smaller than he ever had before, but he wasn't about to show it. Puffing his chest up (despite its small size) he strode on ahead of his brother, hoping to find his own kind of crowd to wait with so Lucas couldn't embarrass him. With images of the four houses before him Aiden had to admit he hadn't done much research. He was cunning and intelligent enough for his age, but he didn't know if Ravenclaw quite suited him. He didn't feel kind enough for Hufflepuff or as brave or team friendly as a Gryffindor, so that left Slytherin, could that be his fate? His cunning and willingness to succeed for himself by putting himself ahead of all others certainly seemed fitting of the house, especially as he pushed his twin brother out of the way so he could get a better view of this renowned sorting hat for himself. What would it have in store for him? He was itching to find out, eager to begin making a name for himself, and even more determined to not only succeed in school but get into a little trouble (so long as his parents didn't have to find out). It wasn't all too long before his name was called, "Aiden Lowe", Aiden strode up to the sorting hat, eyeing up his fellow students as he perched upon the three legged stool, smirking towards his brother as he did so. This was the moment of truth, and the beginning of the legacy of intelligence, cunning, and ambition he hoped to begin for his family, after all someone had to, and it wasn't going to be Lucas.

"I think there are parts of you you're not aware of at all and parts of you that, while you may think they define you at a mere eleven years of age, are really quite insignificant and you will soon grow out of. For these reasons, you're going to be joining the house of GRYFFINDOR!"

Sophie March brushed her hand through her hair, glancing around at the four long tables before her. She lingered on the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw houses, biting her lip. As far as she knew, the decision would come between the two, and while she had nothing but love and respect for her father, she didn't want to take after him in terms of a Hogwarts house.

Sophie valued her intellect. She wanted to be surrounded by people who would compliment her ability for logic and reason with their own abilities and intelligence. As kind as she knew the Hufflepuff house to be, she wanted a challenge. Her mother had told stories of chess matches and study groups, Muggle science experiments and end of term parties. The Ravenclaw house didn't sound boring to Sophie, it sounded fascinating. And its rich history only drew the young girl further into its charms.

The first couple of new students had now been sorted, shuffling with relieved grins to their seats with their new house mates. Sophie gave a shiver, both in anxiety and in coldness. She was used to tropical Cairns, warm and humid, not this dry, bitter cold that got between your bones and froze you. She made a note to purchase warmer clothes, knowing that even the summer wouldn't reach much over 30 degrees, if that.

Keeping an eye on the hat, Sophie continued to listen out for her name. She knew she wouldn't have long to wait, her last name smack bang in the middle of the alphabet. The list was up to K now, and she gulped. Her parents had reassured her that they didn't expect her to take after either of them, and that they respected their daughter as someone with her own personality. Sophie was grateful for that. She didn't want to feel stuck in the middle of the two and she especially didn't want one parent to be disappointed that she wasn't in their house.

The girl's stomach grumbled. Sophie blushed a furious red, hoping that no one really heard. Her parents had told her all about the delicious food at a Hogwarts feast, and her research had told her that there were house elves working day and night to feed the massive school. She hadn't eaten since the candy she had on the train, but had forgotten all about her hunger in her excitement, until now.

The professor finally got to her name. "March, Sophie."

Soph grimaced. She took the few wavering steps to the stool with the hat, and sat down, allowing it to be placed on her little blonde head.

"Please put me in Ravenclaw," she begged. "Please."

"It isn't just Ravenclaw that has a rich history, you know, and the expectation for a Ravenclaw goes beyond just an interest in the academic and thirst for knowledge: there's an expectation of cleverness and wisdom. Fortunately for you, I think you'll manage just fine. Go on then, you're a RAVENCLAW!"

Hayden's eyes widened as she stepped into the Great Hall, amazement and longing mixing together inside her chest. Four long tables were set up along the huge room, and tapestries hung from above, she could clearly see why they called it the Great Hall. Once she had seen the school her heart had started to hammer, and she wondered, not for the first time, whether she was dreaming. If so, then she wished she never woke. Hogwarts was everything Hayden had dreamed it would be, and so much more. Hayden could tell that Jaiden felt much the same as she did, but knew that her twin wouldn't be quick to clearly state their feelings, but Hayden knew. The first years were brought to the front of the hall, and Hayden shivered slightly back. She wasn't scared, but she was certainly not use to being in a room with so many people, she was normally settled in the library back home, you could say that she wasn't the most social person. Jaiden and Hayden made eye contact as names were called to be sorted, and Jaiden nodded as if to ask if she was alright. Hayden smiled and turned to look at the sorting hat. Her mother had attended Hogwarts in her day, and had been sorted to Ravenclaw house, and Hayden knew that it would make her mother proud to see her daughters sorted to the same house, and Hayden wouldn't have objected. Ravenclaw was for the strong minded, for the loyal, Hayden just hoped that she was enough to make everyone proud. To prove herself. "Black," Hayden's heartbeat skipped. "Hayden." She breathed deeply, and silently walked to the stool, sitting with her hands in her lap as the hat was placed over her eyes and darkness swallowed her. She didn't much mind where she ended up, as long as she was with her sister and bestfriend.

Jaiden saw everything. She always did, her quietness gave her that advantage. Nothing passed around Jaiden that went unnoticed, and having the intelligent mind she did, everything was stored behind her eyes, for only her to see. And so as she stepped into the Great Hall of Hogwarts, every detail from the tapestries to the goblets on the tables, all imprinted on her mind. Jaiden had been dreaming of coming away to Hogwarts for as long as she could remember, and now it was finally happening. Jaiden tensed as she stood beside Hayden and watched as she shivered back into the crowd of first years as they were being sorted, and nodded as if to ask if she were ok. Jaiden knew that everything would be ok if Hayden was ok, and if Hayden wasn't ok, then all hell would break lose. Jaiden couldn't imagine a world without her twin, Hayden was like another half of her, and Jaiden wouldn't have been able to bare if they were apart. She didn't care what house she was in, as long as it was with Hayden. Jaiden tensed yet again as Hayden was sorted, and watched as she walked to her houses' table, her small fingers crossed, and looked at Jaiden as she was called. Jaiden walked up slowly, quiet and watchful as always, and sat as the hat was placed over her head. She could feel the warmth, she could feel that it was alive, and for one of the rare occasions she actually spoke.
"Just let me be with her, just let me be with Hayden." As she wished with everything that she had that she would be with her other half.

"You'll be in the same school, and I suppose you could be in the same house - but really, you're not your sister: and I think it'll be best for the both of you if you find out who you are, and maybe even that your bond as sisters will only be strengthened through a little bit of differing experiences. You'll do just fine as a GRYFFINDOR!"

This was it. This will mark the start of his stay at Hogwarts New Zealand. While not really excited for what will happen, Alexander was still curious about the things that he'd encounter in this new environment. He rarely leaves their house and he never had the chance to interact with people his age. He was usually surrounded by adults, and usually, he was just ignored and left to his own devises. In this school, it was different. He was surrounded by kids his age, and though usually reserved and apathetic about things, he was feeling a little uncomfortable. He needed his personal space, and his 'classmates' were not really helping. His twin sister, Alexia, was nowhere to be found. He had lost her ever since they boarded the train and had not seen her since. Even the kids that he met on the ride where not in sight. He wasn't really nervous nor was he worried, but he really need to get himself out of the crowd. Finding his sister would be a huge bonus too. But the important thing was to get out. The amount of people around him was too much.

The eleven year old Nightray took a step back, avoiding the student who kept on trying to talk to him. Normally, he would be accomodating and would answer even in short sentences. But at the moment, he didn't have any time for small talks, and with the look on the said student's face, he kne wthat should be given the opportunity, said student would not stop bugging him, and he didn't need the distraction. He needed his space. His face remained inexpressive as he pulled at the end of his robes. He wanted to be in his room and read, and sleep, sleeping was always good. Even the magnificence of the castle did nothing to impress him. Sure, the place was wonderful, but the eleven year old paid it no attention. He wanted everything to be over. It didn't take long before the sorting started, but for him, it seemed like eternity. He didn't usually care much about interacting with people and he didn't have that much issue with physical contact, but the number of times that he had been bump into and pushed was already too much. His face, however, remained blank as he took deep breaths in order to calm himself. Alexia was still nowhere to be found. He then heard his name being called and he slowly walked in front and wordlessly sat down. He had heard about this from his cousins and honestly, he just wanted the hat to sort him already. He didn't really have any preference but his father would want him to be put into Slytherin and it would be great if he'd be sorted in the same house as his sister. But he didn't really care either way. He just wanted everything to be over so he could reclaim his personal space and have a time for himself.

Rosalie's mouth dropped open as she and the other first years were led into the Great Hall. The roof looked just like the night sky outside with the stars twinkling above them. 'Wow...' she whispered, her eyes wide. When she and the other eleven year olds reached the podium where the Headmistress stood, Rosalie was bouncing up and down on her spot excitedly. This really was magic! She couldn't believe that she really was here, and that she too was magical! Wait until Justin heard about all of this! Not noticing some of the sneers that were sent her way, the young girl calmed herself down, barely, she couldn't wipe the large grin off her face, and listened to the Headmistress' speech. Listening to the Headmistress talk about how this will be their home for the next seven years made Rosalie begin bouncing on the spot again. It was so exciting! She promised herself to definitely treat it well and to take every opportunity given to her in the next seven years.

When the Headmistress announced that the Sorting Hat would be sorting them, Rosalie stopped bouncing, and tilted her head to the right slightly in confusion. How would a hat sort them? Her question was answered when the hat opened its... mouth? And began to sing. 'It sings?!' she whispered in shock, staring at it. Her eyes widened even more when the hat then sorted the first person into Hufflepuff. 'And talks too apparently...' she added to herself. As she listened to the sorting, she found her mind racing with a million questions. How long had the hat been here? How many students did it sort? How did it sort people? What happened if she didn't get sorted? Would they just send her home? She couldn't go home! Not after seeing all of this! The young girl shivered slightly at the thought. Did that ever happen? Maybe they made a mistake with her letter and she wasn't meant to be here?

"Rosalie Rosseau!"

Forcing a large smile on her face to cover her nervousness, and skipping up the steps, Rosalie sat herself on the stool, gulping loudly as the hat was placed on her head. Please, please sort me! She thought, I couldn't bear it if I was sent home after seeing all of this!

<FONT font="georgia">Nicodemus stood in the crowd of future first years excitedly, but trying to stop the goofy grin that was trying to pry its way onto his face. His English was questionable, and his relationships with his cousins were also questionable, but he trusted his father's opinion, and he trusted that he would do fine in this school. However, his more impatient side was starting to get the better of him as he waited. Being an M, it meant that he had a little bit of a wait, and so he stood silently, with his arms across his chest. He witnessed his cousins being sorted, Emily in Hugglepuff, and Nathanial in Gryffindor. He wasn't sure which he wanted more. Nathanial was slightly more fun, but Emily was less mean.

He wanted the whole sorting thing done with, even though he understood that it was important. He just wanted to start being a wizard quicker- that wasn't so bad, right? Now that he was this close to magic, he just wanted to explore it. That wasn't a bad that. He did look up, however, when he heard his name. With a grin on his face, the young boy slipped through the crowd to reach the stool, and settled himself upon it. Nicci rested his hands in his lap and closed his eyes as the hat was placed on his head.

This was all just so much. Timmy was happy. He wanted to be around people. His mommy kept him at home. The doctor said that he'd improve being around more children his age. Timmy did not know how that worked out, but he dis not understand many things. He looked out to the crowd and he saw all the different expressions and faces. He wanted to know those what all their expressions meant. He could only understand a few. If only had had his Sketchbook. He could draw all of their faces. Then he'd be able to look at each individual.

"Benenati, Timothy!"

He hated Timothy. It was too hard to say. He took a seat on the miniature chair. He kept his head down while his eyes caught sight of the miniscule things on the ground. The hat was nice on his head. It didn't feel weird like the rest of his clothing. He toyed with his fingers as he waited for the hat to tell him where to go.
"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Her face lit up with glowing orbs of light from the floating swarms of candles hanging low in the Great Hall, Belladonna walked in step with the other students. They flooded through the open space like ocean waves beneath a starlit sky. The child could hardly contain her excitement at finally being here, in the very heart of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was to be sorted at long last.
When the names were called, there came a long list before the words 'Butler, Belladonna', were spoken. Now should have come the nerves, the waves of nausea, but they didn't. The eleven-year-old was far too excited for all of that. She did not mind what house she was to be sorted into, only that she was here.
Approaching the front of the Great Hall, shoulders broad and confident, Belladonna took a seat on the stool. The hat was placed over her ears and a world of intrigue engulfed her as the rip in the old hat twitched open to speak..

Ebony stepped into the Great Hall with the other first years, and looked around in amazement, not minding the other students who pushed ahead of her. She wished that her parents could see her now, at Hogwarts school, safe and happy. She wondered whether they would be proud of her. For as long as she could remember, Ebony had always dreamed of coming to Hogwarts, a place of true magic. And once she had stepped through th0ose giant wooden door, she had felt as if she truly belonged. Her eyes scanned over the tables, green, yellow, blue, and there the red table of Gryffindor. Ebony knew all about Hogwarts, and of course the famous Harry Potter, even if his legend had long since been over, her mother and father had still told her stories of the battle of Hogwarts, and even if it was a different school she still felt the magic welling beneath her feet. She had always felt a strong connection to the famous wizard, and had always loved hearing the stories of his bravery and love, she wished to be like him one day.

The names were being called, and as they were Ebony's eyes scanned over everything in the room, from the professors to the other students, she could tell that Slytherin wasn't a place she would do well by the grunted looks the slytherins were giving the rest of the students, as if they were nothing but dirt. But what if I am in Slytherin? She wondered worriedly, her brow creasing. What if the sorting hat sees something like that in me? She shook herself free of those thoughts, remembering the words that her brother had told her at the train station. 'You will do fine, and I know that mum and dad are proud of you, just like I am.' He had almost made her cry with those words, he was all that she had left, and leaving him had almost been unbearable. To people like those in Slytherin she didn't care whether they liked her or were proud or anything like that, she only cared about the people who were loyal and loved her thought, and she couldn't think of anyone, well anyone still alive, who loved her more than Derek.

Ebony care back to her reality as her name was called by the professor standing in front of her, and everyone's eyes landed on her. She gulped and moved forward towards the sorting hat, her stomach filling with sudden dread. The professor raised that hat as Ebony sat down on the stood it had once been placed on, and then her eyes were draped in black as the hat was placed over her head. She could have begged the hat to place her in Gryfffindor, she could have worried about headlice, which she would have bet the other girls had done, but Ebony did neither, she opened her mind and allowed the wise hat to see into her heart. But she could stop the small whispered that slipped from her lips.

"Please not Slytherin, please."

"Not Slytherin? I'm sure you would do quite well there, actually. If you're absolutely set against it, I suppose I can very reluctantly put you in GRYFFINDOR!"

He was finally there in Hogwarts, everything he had heard about was all there in front of him and now he was ready to be sorted into his new house. Sure Apollo was a little nervous about it all, but he tried to not let it show on his young face as his eyes moved around the room before settling on the sorting hat. People were called up one by one and Apollo waited his turn before finally hearing his own name called from the hat's mouth. This was it. This was the moment he had been waiting for since he had received his Hogwarts letter in the first place explaining he was a wizard and could learn magic. Nothing could stop him now...except maybe the thought that the hat could have made a mistake and he could be sent back home again. However he did hope that was not going to happen.

Preparing himself he walked up the steps towards the hat, eyeing it nervously before lowering himself down as the world in front of him was blacked out by the hat being placed over his eyes. All he could really do now was to wait for the decision and hope everything was not just some big mistake. That would be nothing short of heartbreaking and his life completely ruined.

"I've never made a mistake: neither in sending out letters, nor in sorting those who come to this school. You'll be a marvellous RAVENCLAW!"

'So many people,' Broderick thought as he was practically squished by the other unsorted students, rushing to get inside the Great Hall. He was starting to get annoyed, until the professor escorting you opened the doors. It was the most beautiful place he'd ever seen. The candles floating just over their heads, the clear night sky on the ceiling, the four tables that held the four houses, and in the back of the hall was a very long table holding the Hogwarts staff and Head. He didn't very much know it, but he was smiling like an absolute idiot.

They walked up to the front of the staff table and the professor that escorted them faced the crowd. Broderick's attention quickly snapped back when the professor spoke, "Now, when I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head, and you wil be sorted into your houses." He had to admit he was quite nervous which house he'd be put in. He wasn't exactly confident which house he would be in. Ravenclaw was the one he wanted to be in like his mother, but he shows signs of Slytherin, thanks to his father. Seems like it might be a close one with those two. When his name was called he seemed to whisper to himself "wings not fangs, wings," as he approached the hat. Very gently, it was placed on top of his head. One more time he whispered "wings, not fangs, wings..."

Zoey nervously follows the other students along the aisle in the great hall. She feel the lump in her stomach grow as they come to a halt in front of the stool with an old hat on. She leans a bit to her left and ask the girl next to her: "Is that the sorting hat?". But before the girl have time to answer the professtor standing beside the stool starts calling names. Soon the professor calls her name. "Roberts, Zoey". Zoey tries to walk up to the stool as gracefully as she can, but not being used to wearing robes she stumble on them when she walks up the few steps to the hat. When she sits on the stool the professor puts the Sorting hat on her head. It falls down and cover her eyes.

Charlie could not wait for this day, a new start, a new adventure. Her hair was tied to the side of head a tiny red bow at the end. Charlie's mother thought it would be a good idea. Appearance is everything was just one of the many sayings she had been taught growing up. Though appearance was the last thing in her mind as she entered the Great Hall. "Boy is this great" she spoke under her breath knowing great did not even come close to describing the wonders she saw with her own eyes. And wow are were a lot of people she thought. The amount people seemed almost overwhelming and exciting at the same time; excitement obviously was the stronger emotions. Tempest was a name that would definitely come close to the end, but at least she had time to look around and watch people. People watching was important. You could easily read people, see who you could befriend and who you wouldn't want to waste the time.
Finally her name was called "Tempest, Charlie" Taking a deep breath, Charlie walked towards the professor and hat that would seem determine her future at this school. scary thought. someone else in control She thought as she sat on the stool, prepare for any decision the hat would make.

"Your loyalty to your friends above all will make you a superb HUFFLEPUFF!"

The night was chilly, or maybe Prue was just a bit jittery. This was her first time staying away from home. She was brave and didn't cry during the farewells, even though both of her fathers did. She hadn't really talked to anyone on the trains, but it was okay. Prudence needed time to read a little bit. She had been reading the history of this school all last week, and when she wasn't packing, eating, or sleeping, she was reading it this week too.

Prudence had found that there were four houses, and the entirety of the ride she'd been reading about them, and about people who were in those houses that were of honorable mention. She thought maybe Hufflepuff; maybe Gryffindor. She wasn't sure. She knew she didn't belong in Slytherin. She was determined, but she wasn't exactly cunning or sly. She didn't feel right tricking people out of anything. Even though she had sort of decided, she wondered if her decision mattered. She had heard that different magical schools sorted in different ways, using magical items. What item would they use here?

Prudence and the other students were ushered into a room that seemed impossibly large. Her eyes were wide as she tried so hard to take the sights in stride. However, the sound of 'wow' came from her peach colored lips. She approached a stand, and hear each name being called out slowly. She could hardly believe that this was happening. As she heard her name being called, Prue seemed to snap out of her haze. She approached the stool that she was supposed to sit on, and realized tat this small decision was going to decide her fate.

In her mind all she could think about was how no matter what, her fathers would be proud. "Mr. Hat." She muttered, having seen other children talking to it. "If there is any house that I can be in, to show how brave, or smart I am, please put me there. I want my fathers to be proud of me. And I know there is a perfect house for that." Prue wasn't sure what the house was, but she knew it was there, somewhere.

"Houses are not opportunities for you to display certain aspects of your character, but simply places where traits that you have, buried deep within you or right on the surface, make you belong. You shouldn't try try to exemplify the house, you should just be you and be another variation of what the good thing of that house can mean. Be the most ambitious, wise, brave, and fiercely hardworking person that you can be no matter where you are! That said, there's little doubt that you are in fact a GRYFFINDOR!"

Enrico rocked on his feet as he looked around the hall. He was looking for one person in particular, Clara. He had not seen her for a while, but he was sure he would find her if he saw her. However, being an A,he had little time to locate her. He couldn't even remember what house she was in. He was a terrible cousin! He chewed on his lip as his name was called, feeling a little deflated as he walked. He had not seen Clara to the best of his ability, and this made him feel quite terrible. However, allowing this feeling to roll off his shoulders, Enrico sat himself onto the stool, still wearing a huge grin on his face. After this, he would be able to start school - and that was really exciting! He couldn't wait to meet new people and make friends!

"Hey Hat, let's do this real quick, yes?"

"Hey kid! I'll do this as quick as I can manage. Now sit still. Hmm. As strange as this will seem, I think you'll do well in the house of SLYTHERIN!"

The great hall doors opened. The lights shone through brightly. Dayton could barely hold his excitement back. Conner did not get a spot here he thought knowing quite well, in the back of his mind, that next year Connor would receive and invite. He was a year younger yet had the brains to overpower even Dayton's wit. Watch me get into Ravenclaw. Show that stuck up brother what it's about He thought smirking as the names began to get called. The speech entirely missed his ears; he was so determined. None of it mattered until he was sorted; until he was an official student of Hogwarts New Zealand, the first in this family ever. This would make him better than all the rest; or so he thought.

"Meade, Dayton" was called from the distance as the scrawny yet straight standing boy walked towards the front, pushing the students out of the way to get his place in the spotlight. If only mum could see me now; ha if only Conner could He thought sitting down upon the stool. The hat would know all. He was tricky, or so he thought. Only happy thoughts now. Positive. Powerful. He needed the hat do know where he had to go, the perfect place. His negative thoughts about wonderful Conner and perfect baby Issy would not ruin things for him. Not this time.

"Where do I belong" He whispered closing his eyes hoping that for once he would come up on top.

"Your determination to make something of yourself makes you an excellent candidate for SLYTHERIN!"

Augustina Knox couldn't believe that she was finally at Hogwarts New Zealand. It had taken her all weekend to fly from Adelaide, Australia to the HNZ Express. Her mother was the only one to accompany her to Hogwarts, mostly because it was to expensive to fly over her two siblings and step dad, and also because she was closest with her mum. Her bags were extremely heavy, she over packed a bit, so her arms gratefully didn't have to carry that sucker into the castle. Augustina couldn't believe her eyes, the ceilings were magnificent and all the lighting features and paintings blew her away. Wide eyes and quiet she wandered trying to see all she could.

One Professor Ava Davershire came to collect the new students. Gusta placed herself near the front, eager to see more of the castle. Once everyone was clumped together the huge wooden doors opened, and all her senses exploded, it was electrifying. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. The ceilinng was charmed to look like the sky, and tons of children sat and four long beautiful tables. She noticed four main colours: red, green, blue and yellow. She was confused, she didn't know what they stood for. Professor Davershire opened with a speech, and then a rickety stool and old hat got placed in front of the hall.

The hat started singing; Augustina froze, never had she seen that before. The other students didn't bat an eyelash. Names started to be called out, alphabetically by last name. All Gusta could think about was food, she slept the whole train ride and has been ravenous ever since. Augustina realized that the four colours stood for houses, and the singing hat sorted you into a house. Gryffindor for the brave, Slytherin for the cunning, Ravenclaw for the wise, and Hufflepuff for the loyal. She didn't care where she got placed, everyone seemed to share a excitement for the sorting.

Finally, her name was called out. Surprisingly the pronounced it correctly; she was so grateful. It never ceased to suprise her how may people couldn't pronounce her name.

"Knox, Augustina"

She waddled over to the stool, plopped down and looked up as the hat was placed on her head. Not sure if she should talk to the hat or be silent. "Hello? Sorry if I don;t smell very good. I'm kinda nervous."

"RAVENCLAW!"
OOCOut of Character:
I'm not sure if the sorting hat can smell or not and didn't want to make that call, otherwise I would have interacted with you more! D: Sorry!

Keye wanted nothing more to do than to sit somewhere and read. It wasn't that she didn't like school or interacting with other people, she just found herself to be someone who is not quite used to being surrounded by a lot of people even those of her age. She found the quite hard to do as she was more used to the comfort being given to her of being surrounded by paper and writings. It was more peaceful that way and even though there were times that she preferred attention at times, surely not a large-scale attention was something she was uncomfortable with. She had the whole school's attention after all when that hat is placed on her head and that was something she wanted to avoid. Though try as she may, she had already gotten into Hogwarts New Zealand and sorting was a process that she would never be able to escape. Maybe she should have asked Daddy if she could go to Beauxbatons instead. Or Durmstrang? Or maybe she should have home-schooled. Anything really that would help her escape the attention of the whole school from the span of one minute to ten minutes, if she was absolutely unlucky, that she sits in the stool with the Sorting Hat on her head.

But then again, this was a situation that she cannot turn away from now. She was there already and they had already entered the Great Hall and were already waiting for the inevitable. Keye knew that it wouldn't be long before her name was called and though she wasn't really nervous about the whole thing, and she doesn't particularly care which house she ended up with, drawing attention to herself was something she wanted to avoid. In her seven years of stay in the school, the only goal she wanted to really achieve was to enter peacefully, be ignored by most people so she could live on normally, and graduate without being caught up in any major drama in the school. After all, she was so used to peace and quiet and now she would have to deal with living in a place with too many people that she has absolutely no clue about who they were. Caught up in her thoughts, Keye had barely heard when her name had been called, nevertheless, she had managed to maneuver herself quickly through the crowd and sit herself on the stool. She felt the hat being placed on her head and she inwardly wished that the hat wouldn't say anything that would make her get a lot of attention in her whole seven years of stay in Hogwarts. Really, just saying her house was enough and she hoped that that would be the case.

Despite only being in the castle for a few moments, Lyra was already beginning to feel homesick. The students around her already seemed to know one another and she felt rather out of her comfort zone. The hectic environment of new and old students chatting to each other in the large great hall was quite unnerving for a girl who had grown up in a solitary shack in France. As the unsorted students made their way to the front of the hall, Lyra felt a cocktail of emotions stirring up inside her. Hogwarts was far more incredible than her Godfather had described it to be, despite his long stories about the castle's enchantments and mysteries. A smile which she could not control spread across Lyra's face as she took in the new world around her. She had, of course, seen magic before. Her Godfather was a talented wizard. But never had she seen a place as extravagant and beautiful as this. Unfortunately, at the same time her stomach was doing triple somersaults beneath her robes, and a thin layer of sweat was starting to form on her forehead.
Lyra watched several students become Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws and Slytherins before her name was called. At last, the moment Lyra had been obsessing over for weeks had finally arrived. There was a slight tremble in her step as Lyra made her way up to the sorting hat. Though she could not deny the fact she was scared, fear was not the only thing causing her to shake as she sat down on the stool. She was excited, nervous, and ecstatic to be sat there. She faced the sea of students at their tables, refusing to close her eyes. A few jumbled thoughts ran through her buzzing mind as the sorting hat was lowered onto her head. I'm sure I'll do well in any house I'm put in. But I think I know where I belong, Lyra thought as she waited eagerly for the sorting hat to make it's decision.

"Maybe that's a little too confident - sure, any house I'd be willing to put you in you must belong in and do well enough in: but it's not like you would just succeed in any old house. Regardless, you're a GRYFFINDOR!"

Little Jaskai Tuuri tugged at the end of his robes as he followed the other first years into the great hall. He was easily one of the shortest student there, if not for his cousin Evander, and thus, it was hard for him to see what was before him. The students in front of him was blocking his vision, he could see nothing but their backs! The little eleven year old began to jump, he already attempted to push through the crowd earlier, but it was of no use, it's either they couldn't see him, or they just chose to ignore him. Sulking, he crossed his little arms in front of his chest, tapping his feet incessantly on the floor as he glared at the students' backs. "If I'm a ninja, then I can jump through the roofs and I can see everything," he muttered, swaying on his feet. He was growing quite impatient and he was getting pretty hungry too. Restless, he glided between his fellow new students until he found himself near the tables. He extended his hand before him and made some outrages hand movements before he attempted to jump on the table, but an older and much taller student just glared at him and ordered him to get down which he reluctantly followed, but not without sticking out his tongue first before running away and hiding behind his fellow first years.

It didn't take long before the woman in front, he assumed it was a woman because of the voice as he couldn't really see from his position, started calling out names. His surname started with a T, so it will take quite sometime before he was called. And once he did hear his name, he quickly made his way towards the front where a gigantic stool waits for him. He frowned and stood next to it, as if comparing its height against his own. He looked around him, he didn't need help, he could climb it just fine. He was a good climber after all. If he could climb trees, then surely, he could climb this stool. He pointed an accusing finger at the it, glaring. "So this is a challenge, I will not lose to you Mr. Stool, not me," He hissed before he started to climb it. His face broke into a huge smile as he found himself sitting comfortable on the stool. Finally, he could see the crowd, no one was blocking his vision. This was actually quite good. He could stay and sit here forever. However, the fun abruptly ended as the hat was placed on his head. He couldn't see anything and he hated it. He hated not being able to see. The hat covered his whole head that he thought it could actually eat him, luckily, it has no teeth inside. "So you're my next challenger? I will win," he muttered, hands gripping the side of his seat.

"I am no challenge to be overcome, and there is no victory after meeting me. I simply am: I do my job, and I do it well - which lets you get the most out of these next seven years of life at Hogwarts. You'd like to be a Slytherin, hmm? Well there's certainly only success in Slytherin. Go on, then. <SIZE size="150">SLYTHERIN!"

The train ride was boring, the students are boring, hopefully the ceremony won't be as bloody boring. Arabella Lebeau and the rest of the unsorted students stood in the Great Hall awaiting their names to be called out, so they may be sorted into their houses. There was this whole speech and introduction thing they went through, but Arabella wasn't paying attention. She was focused on the hat the professor was holding. Slytherins always get far in life, they turn into famous and powerful wizards and witches. They reach impossible goals. Arabella's glimmered with anticipation. She was confident she would be placed in Slytherin, but they called her name first, all her confidence suddenly faded. She grew timid and walked up. Everyone was staring at her as the Hat was placed on her head...

"Don't worry - you are certainly a SLYTHERIN!"

The train journey had left the small brunette in an odd state of mind, a fuzzy, surreal feeling washing over her. How was it that she could really even be here, walking through the Great Hall beneath the night sky and a forest of floating candles? Zenith listened to the chatter and mumbling as she moved along the floor, her eyes meeting those of older students as she passed on by. Nerves should have struck her, now, but they didn't. The world felt a whole dimension away.
Zenith came to a halt and waited with baited breath as the room fell silent. One by one, students were called up to the front of the room. Her limited height made it hard to see, but from what she could make out, each student, in turn, approached the stool, seated themselves, and then had a had placed atop their head. She was beginning to wonder what this sorting ceremony really entailed when her name was called out.
"Barselona, Zenith."
Zenith excused herself from the crowd, pacing gracefully towards the stool. It all felt like a hazy dream. She stood for a moment beside the stool, her eyes in a fog of light. A hand guided her down onto her seat and there a hat was lowered onto her head. Zenith listened to the muffled sound of her own breaths.
