Sorting Ceremony: 2037

Status
Not open for further replies.
Princess entered the Great Hall to get sorted, princess lined in front and watched as the sorting goes on. She was wondering where was her siblings, she thought that they were at the back. Princess wondered about the hat talking, she thought maybe there is a micro-chip inside that makes it talk or any machine, her question was answered when the Professor called her "Princess Victoria Cheney" and then she headed in front and sat on the chair, the hat was placed in her head and she was thinking about singing and plays and something about writing poems, or binary codes and many more stuff. When she was sorted she joined her house and waited for her siblings.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Julia Clarke was about to get to hogwarts. She would join her sister there, but was a little nerveus. She most be in Slytherin if not, it would be a shame to the family with all those slytherin in the family. It was happy to be away from home, her mother and father were a lot away, so when Brittany was on hogwarts. Julia was a long time along sometimes with Madison. Madison was really sweet to her, and Julia did not understand why Brittany hated her so much.. Julia had her most beautiful clothes on because she would wanted it all perfect. With a lot of bagage she stepped out of the train that taked them to hogwarts. The castle was huge but it seemed old and ugly. But maybe on the inside it was better! Julia walked into a great hall, what was the name of the room she guessed. Julia saw the older students already sitting, some laughing to a bunch of young childs. Julia felt like a more adult girl, she was just feeling so.

Some old professor said her name, and Julia saw that she raised her eyebrows by the name Clarke. Mm.. Brittany is already famous, i hope it is a good start for me then. She heard again: Julia Clarke

"Some old professor called your name, hmm? For a child who doesn't fancy herself a child it's a little strange for you to have something against 'old' people, too. Not very mature at all, don't you think? Hopefully you'll be able to learn a bit of respect from your sister. Go on then, I've enough of being on your head. SLYTHERIN!"

Melanie was wide awake in her bed, her brother had been up early and he was jumping up and down the house, because today was the day that they would take the train to Hogwarts. Melanie had her camera sitting on her nightstand and with a quick swoop the black familiar thing was hanging around her tiny neck. Her trunk had already been packed by her dad since Melanie did not care what she would bring to Hogwarts, she would be wearing a robe anyways. When Melanie was finally dressed and done with fixing her make up, she decided to pester her brother some more. ''Hey Ben did you know that if you are too dumb for the school the hat can send you home?'' Melanie giggled and had her usual sadistic smile on her face. Her brother had these big eyes and his mouth was open. ''Really sis?'' he replied almost silently and Melanie nodded quickly. Melanie did not hate her brother, she had this love-hate relationship with him, they were very good friends, but Melanie loved to play around with him, use him as her alive barbie doll. ''Kun je ook opschieten dadelijk is de trein al weg!'' Melanie shouted through her brothers bedroom door, he was still fixing his hair and making himself look perfect for the big event. Her parents were so proud that both the twins would go to Hogwarts, not that they doubted they had magic since both of them were introduced to magic when they were really young. Her dad was wearing some muggle designer suit, from a fancy brand that he had to wear for work, their mother was not home today, so the whole responsibility lay on dad. They had to use floopowder to get to New Zealand and they had an easy connection with the floo system to their aunts house. Their aunts house was only ten minutes away from the train station that would take them to Hogwarts. When they arrived at their aunts, they found the house squeaky clean. Their aunt walked up to them and gave them a tight hug. ''Oh, you two are getting so big.'', ''Charles, you are feeding them too much!'' She was now walking towards their father to give him a piece of mind about his own children. Melanie just stood there waiting impatiently to move on, in the meantime she shot a picture of her aunts living room. She had already named it 'First minute in New Zealand.'

Benjamin, Melanie, their father and their aunt, the last one insisted that she also went with the trio to watch them going of to Hogwarts in the journey of becoming adults. Melanie did not really want to sit with her twin brother, but with her trust issues she trusted him more than anyone on this train expect for her trusty camera. They both had a small package of money to buy something from the trolley, but Melanie did not trust the lady or the trolley and she did not want to get food poisoning on her first day at Hogwarts. When everyone started to change to their sorting outfits, Melanie looked down, in the regulations it was stated that she could not wear her camera during her sorting and this was a bit scary for Melanie.

When they arrived at the beautiful castle of Hogwarts and Melanie had successfully sneaked her beloved camera in, she felt really good about herself. She was going to excel her and rise above everyone else, and everyone in her way would not have a really good time her. Melanie her reckless attitude would bring her very far and she was going to win, even if it was not about winning. From the hall they walked into a large dining hall with tables and students scattered around everywhere. Melanie was not nervous, she was careless and would take this opportunity to be the center of attention and show herself to the bigger audience. She had learned from this self help book that if you wanted to excel in life you had to self promote yourself. Ben was called first and she did not even care about his house, she just clapped lazily when he took a seat with his new house mates. ''Not with Benjamin, Not with Benjamin'' was running through Melanie her head, being at home with him was already torture, being in the same house as her would be unbearable. She liked her twin to death, but too much was not good for her. ''White, Melanie'' Melanie had her shoulders up and walked straight to the chair without hesitation, she sat down and waited for the hat to do its magic, or whatever it did. Some old hat voodoo, she did not trust this hat and hoped she would not get head lice from it.

"Head lice from me? I hope I don't get head lice from you! For somebody who wants to be a Slytherin you have very little regard for magic, something that Salazar would simply never abide. In fact, insulting the thing that decides your fate for the next seven years isn't very wise at all, and to even suggest Godric would take you under his tutelage is almost laughable. Fortunately for you, there was one founder with a heart kinder than any person I've ever met so people like you could still belong - though I cringe at the thought of placing you under even her name, for fear that you'll not respect it and the opportunities it affords you, either. Go on, then. Enjoy HUFFLEPUFF!"
Kun je opschieten anders is de trein al weg!
Can you hurry up, otherwise the train is already gone!

<SIZE size="50">Running a hand through what what now an unruly head of dirty blonde hair, Isaiah couldn't stop the sweat on his hands from being just awful, or the way they were both shaking. That morning his hair had been perfect, now little remained of what it had been. He spent a few seconds just staring right at his sweaty hands before stuffing them into his trouser pockets. He couldn't believe how nervous he was about this. It was just a part of his life which he had to do. Isaiah had been looking forward to it being here and getting sorted, up until that moment where he'd actually seen the school. He had turned to his side, expecting his siblings to be beside him as they usually were but of course they were not. He couldn't help but be in awe of the school, while sad for not being able to share it with his family. Isaiah was nervous about entering, didn't think of himself of really worthy of such an amazing school. Part of him, thought that he could turn back now, and just learn from home. It couldn't be that hard, but he was here now and he knew that he would regret if he didn't give this a try. He knew that his family would be alright without him, no matter how much Isaiah thought that everything relied on him. It was better now. He followed his classmates through the halls of the school which lead towards the great hall. He couldn't stop his eyes from bouncing to and from every sight in front of him. Unable to really keep his gaze on any one thing for long. There was just so much to take in at this point. So much that for some reason Isaiah was sure his brain was thinking that it would never see any of it again. He found that despite all the nerves in him, he could feel the start of the smile. The young boy knew that his siblings were looking forward to his first letter to them from school, and Isaiah was more than happy to send it to them pretty soon. Isaiah had never been away from his family for this long, and it was all he could think of currently. As bad as he didn't want to think about them, it was the only thing he appeared to be able to think about. Shaking his head slightly, Isaiah glanced around at the other students. Most of them seemed pretty normal, nothing too out the ordinary. He wondered which would end up in the same house as him. He wondered which might be his friend, and which he'd be better avoiding. He knew it would take him a little bit longer to warm up to people, but he was sure that this would be alright. Hogwarts would force him to be comfortable with those he'd just met, in a way that his last school had never. Isaiah's thoughts were interrupted when the crowd moved to the great hall, and his thoughts were suddenly silenced.

Isaiah's family had never been particularly well, they'd always had enough, but this was not just a great hall in his mind, but a grand one. He could only imagine the sort of stories the bricks could tell about this place. The things they'd seen. The ghosts which lingered, the marks of previous years. The sounds of their laughter, the tears of those students who moved on to bigger and better things. The boy glanced at the students at the tables, each of them at the right table for their house. Each of them with a different story to tell. Each with plans and future after this place. How many students had this hall seen in all the years of Hogwarts. He glanced to the front of the room, now curious as to where his future lay. In which house would he be best for. He could see himself in any of the houses. Isaiah just really didn't want to be a Slytherin. He knew that Slytherin's weren't as bad as people said they were, but he wasn't really interested in taking such a chance. He knew they had positive traits, but he just didn't want to be one. Any of the others to him would be fine. Though Isaiah was really hoping to get Ravenclaw. Isaiah always worked incredibly hard for whatever he wanted and more. He knew he was smart. He was smart, Isaiah, really however at the end of the day was not that bothered by the houses. He knew that which ever he ended up in would be best for him. Isaiah however, was so lost in his thoughts and glancing around, that he barely noticed that all the other students were slightly ahead. He suddenly found himself at the back of a crowd of kids his age. He couldn't really see the professor at the front, not that it really mattered. He could hear what she had to say. Isaiah loved the ease with which the voice could be heard, how easily it carried through this Great Hall. He realised that this hall was calming to him, it took his mind off other things. His hands no longer shook as much, though they were still sweating pretty bad. He heard a different voice singing, and it didn't take long for Isaiah to figure out that it was the sorting hat. It was deeper than the previous voice. He knew that this sorting hat was newer, and that the one at the other Hogwarts was much older. As old as the school itself, the school was older than this one, but a good many years. He wondered if this Hogwarts would ever reach that kind of age. The song ended, and Isaiah turned his attention back to the front. As names began to be called, and he was able to move closer to the front. Jeffreys was midway through, and so he had a fair amount to wait, just not as much as some others might have to. Isaiah smiled to himself as they neared his name. This was it. Hogwarts, magical school, his life for the next seven years. "Jeffreys, Isaiah"

Isaiah moved to the front of the crowd, glancing at the woman who'd said his name, and smiling at her. He wanted to thank her, but obviously could not. There was no opportunity for that to happen. He sat down on the stool, and just waited. He knew no matter what his family would be proud of him, and that was what he intended to do. Isaiah really didn't want slytherin, but knowing his family would be proud no matter what was enough to him, to trust the hat in it's judgement of him.

"Not to worry - you're no Slytherin. You're a RAVENCLAW! Albeit, a bit of a foolish one at the moment. Hopefully you'll grow out of that."

There were no words to describe the weirdness of the circumstances. It all began with a mysterious letter found in their house's mailbox. Even the red wax seal with the strange emblem couldn't foretell what was about. An invitation to a magical school was not something that James Thomas had ever expected to receive. Initially, the boy thought it was an invitation for those schools for magicians, where you were taught how to perform tricks with the assistance of illusions and fast movements. Talent hunters were always around the places where he and his peers were used to perform. Someone might have seen his talent and invited him to improve his skills. However, the school named Hogwarts was suggesting something different. Magic was real and he was invited to attend a magic school for wizards and witches. JT thought that his friends were playing some sort of prank on him. He had been telling now and then that magic would be a cool thing to exist and he was usually mocked after such statements. But when his mother returned from her shift at the hospital, the two of them had a lot talk at their house's kitchen. It turned out to be no hoax but an astonishing truth. His mother might wasn't magical unlike what the letter was suggesting about him but her greatgranduncle was rumored to be a wizard. Perhaps this had survived in JT's blood since that greatgranduncle never had children.

The shocking reveal of a whole new world came along with much change. Change that JT didn't like at all despite his fascination about the whole magic thing. Hogwarts was a border school, which meant that he had to spend most of his time there. He could no longer hang around with his pals at the neighbourhoods and skateparks of Albany, New Zealand, his hometown. And the consolation that he could see them during holidays wasn't enough for him. Moreover, he was suggested by his mother that he shouldn't talk openly about his new status as a wizard. "People sometimes don't understand." she kept staying although JT couldn't understand why his best friend shouldn't know. Perhaps they were wizards and witches as well and they could join him at that magic school.

Along with the invitation letter, a long list of school supplies was also included. A list that made both his mother and him to think that maybe there was still a chance the whole situation to be a hoax. However, when the two of them arrived at the place where the list was suggesting they were going to find his school supplies, a whole new world unfurled before him.
Books about witchcraft, spells and potions. A whole new dress code that JT didn't like from the very first beginning. New pets. Everything was new and scary. The school uniform couldn't get more rediculous. He had to wear black robes and jumpers when the only clothes he let on his body were hodies, t-shirts and jeans. He had been keeping riding his mother for a dog pet, he loved dogs but now he had for a pet a male horned owl that he perfunctorily named it Boo. Magical people had different ways of travelling as well but he was content with his bicycle and his skateboard. He also purchased a wand. A quick research in one of his newly bought books, suggested that all the magic was happening through this piece of wood but he was feeling like an idiot while holding it. After this visit at Diagon Alley, he was no longer sure if he wanted to be a part of this new, secret world.

Days passed quickly. He said goodbye to his friends, lying to them that he was accepted to a board school overseas. He promised he was going to be back on holidays but this seemed to be so far. That morning when he arrived with his mother at the train station, his stomach was a bottomless pit. He had never left his mother alone. Ever since his father had died on that car accident, he had promised to himself to look after her. His mother was pretending to be all cool but he noticed her wet eyes when she kissed her cheeks and advised him to live the best of this experience. A steam locomotive was the students' means of transport to the school. JT wasn't pleased with this old-fashioned environment. At least he managed to have a long slumber throughout the journey to wake up to countryside and a huge castle.

First years were transported on boats that were navigating on their own through the dark waters of a large lake. The enormous castle with the crescent moon at the background looked like it was drawn out of a horror film. Apparently, wizardry world was going to be old-fashioned in every way, even with their facilities. When the boats reached the shores, the first years assemblied, dressed in their black robes and were guided in the interior of the castle. Most of his fellow young wizards and witches expressed their awe with exclamations. JT was more reserved but he couldn't deny that this place has something special. Slightly surprised, he watched a couple of decorating armors moving and waving at them and a transparent figure passing through a wall. Was that a ghost? The old, animated portraits didn't appeal to him much. To his opinion, this place needed serious redecorations. He had already spotted the candidate wall to accept his graffitis.

Then the large double doors opened to reveal a spacious chamber. Candles were floating gently above four, long tables occupied already by older students. JT stumbled on one of his fellow first years as his gaze pinned on the enchanted ceiling. It almost looked like there was no ceiling but he could see straight at the cloudless night sky. The first years slowly reached the professors' table. At a first glance, JT couldn't tell much about them. He hoped they were more progressive and open minded than the teachers he had at his previous school. Lecturing through a book was pathetic to his point of view. A teacher should know how to captivate their audience, their students. Apart from the professors' table, on the podium was also placed a stool with a rather shabby hat on it. "What? Do we have to draw a bunny out of it or something." he mused, not really caring if he was heard or not. The procedure turned to be something completely different.

To his surprise, the had was very alive and good at rhymes. JT was too shocked to really process the meaning of its song but he clapped along with the rest of the audience at the end. The headmistress explained what was going to be the procedure after her opening statement. She looked like a nice person to him and took it as a good sign for the rest of the school's staff. JT curiously watched as the first student was summoned, standing on his toes to see better what was going to happen. The rim of the old hat blocked the student's visibility and mused before announcing loudly the name of a house. It seemed to him that this animated hat could read them and immediately felt uncomfortable. Sooner that what he had expected, his name was called and he squeezed his way through the safety of the first year's herd. As he was taking the last steps towards the stool, he reminded himself that nothing wrong was going to happen. He sat down comfortably and let the professor place the old hat on his head. A fusty smell reached his nostrils as the view of the hall disappeared and the hat started invading his thoughts.

"Gryffindor."

Maka followed the rest of the new students into the great hall. Both Low and Una had told him about this place but he han't expected the celling to be so high, or so well charmed that he could really see the stars. he looked around. Una had told him that sorting involved doing some magic to show what house suited you better, Low had said that they set wild animals on you to see how you react, and his mum has said there was nothing to worry about, and chided the older children for worrying him. looking around he didn't see any wild animals, in fact the only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was a large ancient looking hat. maybe he had to cast a spell on it. however a lady stood up and spoke about the sorting. did they seriously just have to put the hat on their head. that wasn't too bad, not at all. unfortunately being a K there was a fair wait until his name was called. he watched intently as he tried to guess which house was which. and which one each of the students were going to go into. He managed to get a girl right who was sent into ravenclaw, and then a gryffindor boy right. but then totally messed up when a girl with curly hair who he was sure would get hufflepuff was put in slytherin. She really had no clue what house he would be in. he didn't feel brave, or hard working or smart, but then again didn't feel manipulative either. was there a house for the people who have no distinguishing characteristics, and feel slightly uncomfortable in the wait. he knew if he got hufflepuff they would tease him for the next seven years, but then again what is new here. that was a odd thing about being the youngest sibling. you got teased senseless all the time by your older brothers and sisters, but as soon as anyone else even looked at you funny they would be there defending you. but there were problems with being a youngest sibling especially when it was people like una and low who preceded you, every day on the first day of class he would see the teacher reach his name on the roll and their shoulders would sink a little as they remembered how much work the other kicketts had been, how disruptive and angry. Kickett, Maka" came the voice over the crowd and maka almost missed it he jumped slightly before scurrying up to the stool, the last thing he saw before the hat sunk over his eyes was lowan pulling a silly face at him. and he wandered if he wanted to be in the same house as his brother to have someone to look out for him and show him the ropes or be in a different house where he could possibly not have a reputation preceding him, and he decided he didn't mind which so long as he was put somewhere.

"If you don't want to live under the shadow of your siblings you certainly can't worry about their mocking your being different - that's the risk of striking out on your own. Hopefully you'll find plenty of support around you, though, in HUFFLEPUFF!"

The time had come for Veronica to make her way in the world. She wasn't sure if she was excited, or nervous or everything in between. What little she knew of this school had come from her siblings and whilst her brother was no longer here, she did have her sister still around, which was probably a good thing, as Roni could get very nervous on her own. Looking around at the medieval castle, Roni was so happy that she could be a part of this. She had been looking forward too it, ever since she found out that they would be going to a school in New Zealand instead of the one in Scotland. Not that she minded terribly, because she often thought that anywhere in Britain was far too cold anyway. At least in New Zealand they got lovely weather! As she looked around the room, her eyes fell on her sister, sitting at one of the tables and waving encouragingly at her. Roni smiled and waved back before noticing her best friend in the room too. Because her last name started with B and his with a T, she knew she would be first, so as the names started being called, she crossed her fingers and waited patiently.

"Boneheart, Veronica." Roni's eyes lit up as the group of people parted to allow her access to the stool. It looked a little scary to be sitting up there waiting for your house to be decided. She had to admit that she was now feeling slightly overwhelmed. But she was determined to get this done. She always rose to meet and defeat a challenge so why should this be any different? Sighing slightly to calm herself, Roni turned to see her sister give her a thumbs up, before sitting atop the stool and having the hat placed on her head. Darkness followed it, as the hat slipped down over her head. She was really excited, though she didn't like the darkness, not because she was afraid of the dark, but because she felt isolated. Isolation was a deep fear for her.

"I think you might get on well in GRYFFINDOR!"

Hope Blanchard had done her research a long time ago when she heard, that she can come to hogwarts. All the books did she read until deep in the night. Hope was a controlfreak sometimes but she did know that this was the moment to shine. Together with her sister Belle she would go to hogwarts. Hope wanted to be the best of the family so there was some competition about the two sisters. Her parents told Hope a few things that she most do and don't at hogwarts and then before they know it the train was driving. Hope saw a lot of sweet things, but she was wiser that was pretty bad for the teeth. She had her own healthy lunch and that was only good in her eyes. She did not had the need to talk to some people, when they tried she gived a short answer and grabbed her book quickly. She loved the sound of the train and the nature was beautiful from the window. A few hours later they arrived at hogwarts, the castle was incredible Hope wanted to see the libery as quick as she could. But first she needed to be sorted in a house. She wanted to be in Ravenclaw were the smartest students were, when she thought about that she felt pain in her stomach. What if not? Belle would be in Ravenclaw and she would be the underdog. Drowning in her thoughts she heard her naming saying by a professor: Hope Blanchard

"Want to be the best at everything, hmm? That's no small feat! You may find it a bit rough at first, but I think you'll find the most helpful house in all such endeavours is unquestionably SLYTHERIN!"

Janus glanced over at the Slytherin table where her older brother sat with his friends. All she could think about was being reunited with her favorite (well... only ) brother after barely seeing him for his first three years at Hogwarts.
She didn't have to wait excruciatingly long for her name to be called, but when she heard it, all of her doubts suddenly smacked into her at full force.
What if she wasn't sorted into Slytherin?
She walked through the still-impressive crowd of eleven-year-olds towards the front of the pack.
What would her parents think of her?
She made her way to the three-legged stool and sat facing the students.
Her parents would be so disappointed.
The heavy hat was placed on her head and she smothered her doubt with her overpowering feeling of pride at finally making it to Hogwarts. Only one thought made itself known in the jumble of magical thoughts:
'I wonder what it's like to be a talking hat...'

"I do a little bit more than talk, girl. How would you like me to think 'I wonder what it's like to be a giggling girl'? No matter, I'm done sorting through your head now. Run along to SLYTHERIN!"

Sal was highly excited about getting into hogwarts and now here he was. It was a dream come true for him .He had worked hard (hah good joke) for it and had got what he wanted (again). He was waiting eagerly at the gates of the Great Hall for the Professor to open the gate and let them in. Once the doors were opened, he walked ahead in the line and moved to the chair that had a hat. A hat was clever enough to know what house should one be in. He sighed and shook his head. Whatever He thought. He sat on the chair and felt the hat on his head. Well lets hope the hats puts me in the house I want. Please. Please be that house. he kept praying for the house he wanted. he hoped the hat would put him in that house but then again a hat wasn't clever enough to make decisions or so he thought.

"Hufflepuff! Oops. Did I say that? I guess I'm just not clever enough to be making such important decisions. :( "

This was it. The time she had been dreading since she got her letter to be accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Sorting Ceremony. As she walked through the Great Hall with her fellow students, she could see all the students of the upper classes sitting in the House tables that they were assigned. In the back of the room facing front were the teachers of the school. One of them holding the sorting hat. All the unsorted students cluttered into a big blob facing the teachers. "They're just as nervous as I am," she thought as she shifted her way to the front. "I will call each of your names, and you will come forth. I will place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses," announced the professor holding the hat. One by one she called their names and one by one they left with smiling faces, given the very houses they wished for. Marietta felt maybe a twinge of hope somewhere in the butterflies that fluttered in her tummy, until the professor called her name. Her heart started to pound and she grew very anxious. As she made her way to the hat all she thought was "Please let it be Hufflepuff, please let it be Hufflepuff, please let it be Hufflepuff..." The hat was then, very gently, placed on top of her head...

"Oh, come now! You'd be such a good Ravenclaw! All any house really wants of you is to draw out that thing about you which is strongest - and you're plenty clever and wise for Ravenclaw. You could just be you there too. I'm quite sure of this - but it seems you're equally sure against it. Well, you'll also make a fine Hufflepuff and if you're quite sure you don't want to be a Ravenclaw... alright then! HUFFLEPUFF!"

Delia, dressed in her school robes, got off of the Hogwarts Express with his new friends & made his way over to the huge man calling 1st years to him. Eyes widen as he stared at the person that must be Linda, the Half-Giantess! Her Dad had told him about Linda & everyone else at Hogwarts who taught there. Delia wondered where her Dad was now as she walked over towards the boats. Maybe he was getting the broomsticks ready! One thing that the young girl couldn't wait for was Flying Class. Of course if he had it his way he would just get on a broom & fly right on the pitch with Gryffindor House. Slytherin was full of bullies & evil people, Ravenclaws were full of stuffy people & Hufflepuff House...nobody wanted to be sorted into Hufflepuff House. That was the House of losers in his opinion.

Jumping onto a boat, Delia turned around to see if her new friends were following her. The Hogwarts Express was sitting there, as if to tell her farewell until the Holidays. The train was fun, eating sweets & playing with Rabbit, who was now tucked inside her robe pocket so he wouldn't get lost. Smiling she waved at the train before turning back around & sitting on the boat. Now she looked ahead at the castle looming ahead of her. It was the place of her adventure! Where she would learn spells & be the best witch ever. Nobody was better! The boats went across the lake, everyone was silent as the 1st years went across the lake. Leaning forward in the boat, Delia poked her head over the bow & watched the water rush on by. She was hoping to catch sight of the Giant Squid! Unfortunately neither appeared & with a disappointed look Delia pulled herself up to look back at the castle. "I'm so excited," she said to no one in particular as the boats finally pulled up inside Hogwarts.

Wanting to be the 1st one out, Delia jumped out of boat & onto the platform before it pulled up right to the side. It was 2 feet away from the platform & being tall for her age Delia cleared the edge. Rabbit croaked in protest from the shuffling around & Delia petted her robe where her toad was position safely in hopes of reassuring him. Finally they were led towards large stairs that led up towards 2 large doors. There was a man who greeted them with a smile, Delia smiled back up at him as he talked about the Houses & asked them to follow him. Excited, Delia made sure to be at the front as the rest of her 1st year mates & her went through the doors. The Great Hall was amazing! Her eyes took in the sky, the floating candles & the other students who were sitting at the tables. Spying her Dad at the table of Professors, the young lady gave him a wave & looked up front as Professor ****inson (the name almost caused her to giggle), brought out a stool & a dusty hat. Then the hat began to move & started to sing a song. Listening to each & every word, Delia smiled when Gryffindor was mentioned.

That was the House she wanted! Hopefully the Sorting Hat would see that she must go in there! Delia wanted to get sorted now! Sadly she had to wait since his last name started with an M. A girl's name was called. Something that she couldn't say...& she was put into Gryffindor. Clapping loudly with the lions, Delia waited as others were called out to the stool. One girl got Ravenclaw, a boy got Hufflepuff, then finally it was her turn as her name was called out.

"McKenzie, Finley"

"YAY!" Running up to the stool, Delia jumped onto it but misjudged the distance & slid off the back of the stool, landing on the floor with a loud thump! "Oh sorry, I thought it was further away!" Quickly she picked up the stool, gave the Professor a grin & slid onto the stool looking up as the Sorting Hat was placed on his head.

"You could quite easily be a Gryffindor, but I think you may have more to learn about the value of your books beyond just their pages and into the real world. Yes, let's see how you can be shaped in RAVENCLAW!"

"Rennell, Freya."

Freya pushed her lips together tightly to keep her teeth from chattering in fear or something equally as stupid. She wanted to make a good first impression on her peers en masse, on her school, her professors and, she supposed, on this raggedy old hat. She was told that it would be placed on her head and would interprete her personality and change her fate which was somewhat daunting for the child. She wondered as she sat down if perhaps a bunch of ten and eleven year olds were a good group of people to do this with. It felt too early to her to have everything so finite. She preferred the ephemeral and anything that could easily be changed for she was an indecisive person. One moment she preferred Ravenclaw to Hufflepuff or Gryffindor to Ravenclaw for herself. She could barely decide on her favourite colour if truth be told.

Although it was very daunting, Freya still managed to have the sorting hat placed on her mess of red curls and she waited on what felt like baited breath.

"You could go a couple of places, but the most likely fit for you seems to be GRYFFINDOR! I trust you'll grow into it more as you figure you out."

Ever since Levy had gotten her Hogwarts letter, she has been nothing but excited. For her, it seemed like the chance of a lifetime and though she knew that Princess seemed neutral about it and their brother deemed it to be quite bothersome, she didn't care. She was just too excited about it, especially that their grandparents had told them lots of stories about their school days and the young girl has been enchanted by the idea of entering magic school ever since. Though she had to admit that she was quite disappointed when she was packing since she could not bring all her books with her. Her grandma told her that it was alright for her to bring ten of her favorite books and leave the rest and she was also reassured that they were going to be well taken care of. But still, she wanted to bring all of them, and then again, her brother was right that she had too many books in the first place and besides, there has got to be a library in the school somewhere right? Shaking her thoughts out of her head, the young girl entered the Great Hall along with the rest of the first years.

Soon enough, all of them were gathered in the Great Hall and Levy just couldn't stop fidgeting once in a while in utter excitement. Thank the heavens though that her name was near the top of the list and that meant she didn't have to wait long. Maybe she could search for the library and take a look at their collection once she was sorted? She hoped that was allowed. Her thoughts were distracted until she was pulled away from her own little world thanks to her name being called, "Cheney, Levy." Levy skipped her way through the crowd and sat herself on the stool before the so-called Sorting Hat was placed on her head. She knew it could talk, heck it was even shouting the house names earlier. Maybe she could ask it or him or whatever where the library was. Well, it was worth a shot. "Mr. Sorting Hat, is there a library here? And where is it? And can I go there now?" she asked all too quickly not even bothering to pause nor take a breath. She really didn't mind which house she was put in, all she cared about at the moment was where the library was and if she could get her hands on a book.

"I'm not your tour guide. I'm the sorting hat - and where you belong is clear as day to me: but don't let anybody ever convince you it's just your love of books. Your wisdom, even at eleven, is clearly apparent and your house founder would have jumped at the opportunity to pull you into her fold. You're a RAVENCLAW!"

Bellamy can't contain her excitement, after a long wait she is finally standing in the halls of Hogwarts. Her new home, better than France anyways. She is grateful that her mama tailored her blouse a bit, the fit is much nicer. Bell is a tad nervous, she shows a bit by playing with the ends of her hair, that smell like peaches and cream. Goodness, that doesn't even matter! Her mind is racing, thinking about everything besides Hogwarts, suprisingly, and yet she is standing in the very place.

The professor slowly opens the big oaken doors, the aroma of pumpkin and sugar fill her nose, and the clashing of laughter and chatter erupt from the rooms, all withing the blink of an eye. It all seems so real, she will be sitting on that stool within a matter of minutes. Bellamy stands near the front of the line, not wanting to seem to eager, but not wanting to seem uninterested. Time seemed to move in slow motion, the anticipation almost killing her. She shyly pulls up her socks, knowing that atleast someone will be looking at her. The sorting begins, the hat sings his song, and they begin to call last names, in alphabetical order; Bell now wishes her last name started with an A. She watches the others first years get sorted enthusiastically, clapping and cheering everybody else, who knows, they could be her house mates.

The professor called out "Pike, Bellamy" startled by the sound of her name, she has a little skip in her step, and sit down on the stool; the old worn hat slides onto her head, a bit too big. "Please don't have lice," Bell mumbles quietly to herself. She takes two deep breathes and waits.

"Oh lice, huhh? How very creative. I don't want to be here for a second longer than I have to: SLYTHERIN!"

Gajeel didn't really understand the concept of houses. Why did they have to be sorted in the first place? It's not like they'll be learning different stuff while they're in different houses right? And it's not like they'll really be separated. He had to wonder if the whole thing was pointless or there was some hidden stuff behind it all. He wasn't one to pay attention to stuff like this after all. In fact, he wondered what the heck his two sisters were getting worked up for. Sure the castle was big and it would be interesting to explore, and magic was something they grew up with and they'd be meeting new people, which he found quite bothersome, the rest were nothing special. Well, except maybe the part where he can actually play quidditch with a team and against a team, instead of playing with Levy who was surely not getting the practical concept of the game soon enough. Shoving his hands in his pockets, he waited for the his name to be called like the rest of the first years.

Well, soon enough his name was called and of course he went before his two sisters, thanks to his name beginning with a G. "Cheney, Gajeel." He dragged his feet towards the stool and sat on it before the magical hat was place atop his head. He had to wonder what this hat could do while it was on his head. He wasn't really one to be curious unlike Levy and Princess, but then again, it's not everyday you see a talking and shouting hat, right? I wonder if this hat could fly or do magic stuff. Aside from shouting, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Slytherin of course, he thought non-chalantly. Well, it was not like he had anything better to think about right? After all, he didn't particularly mind which house he was put in.

"You'll just have to keep wondering about that. But for now, go enjoy your time in GRYFFINDOR!"

Aspen Faye had a weird sensation in her stomach. Her mother told her it was nerves. She had never experienced it before, but as Aspen walked next to her cousin, she felt a feeling of butterflies in her tummy. The blonde's mother had told her that she was probably feeling nervous about being away from her parents. It was helpful to have Riven with her, but they were quite different from each other. She doubted they'd even be put together in the same...house? Being a muggleborn, Aspen wasn't quite sure what was what, though walking through the big hall was pretty amazing. She didn't know much about Hogwarts, her family couldn't afford to get many books or even have a computer for research.
Aspen clutched onto her cousin's hand as the group of eleven year old's stood at the front of the hall. She felt the eyes of all the older students on the group, but Aspen quickly forgot as the Headmistress started to speak. She listened carefully, trying to take in as much as she could. She almost lost it when a Hat started singing, but instead a smile grew on her face, that was awesome! Her nerves quickly turned into excitement as the Hat started shouting out names of what she assumed were the Houses. Aspen was called before Riven, so she squeezed her hand before letting go and making her way up to the stool, waiting eagerly for the Hat to be put on her head.

Riven Faye was beyond excited. Finally, she had an actual place that she could call home. The young blonde didn't know what blessed her to be able to leave her stupid family and their constant travelling, but she was happy that she had a stable place to stay at. Maybe she even had a bigger space to put her clothes! She didn't want to get her hopes up, but as she entered the giant hall, Riven knew it was entirely possible.
Riven didn't mind her cousin being there and she smiled encouragingly at her when Aspen grabbed her hand. She usually wouldn't want someone needing her at a time when she just wanted to enjoy herself, but Aspen had grown up with her, they were like sisters. Riven half-listened to the Headmistress, more interested in the roof, which seemed to be an endless sky. However, her attention was brought back when a hat started singing. How bizarre! Riven listened to the hat, and then waited, uncharacteristically patient. She watched her cousin be sorted, and it was finally her turn. Excitedly, Riven made her way to the stage, waiting for the hat to be put on her head.

Paige's nerves had reached fever pitch by the time the doors of the Great hall opened. The hall was everything she had ever imagined based on the stories from her parents. As she looked round she remembered the story of how they met at her mothers sorting, she ended up sitting across from her Dad when she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She dreamed that one day she would have her own stories to tell her own kids. Paige had almost got lost in her own thoughts when her group came to a sudden stop at the front of the hall. Before them laid the sorting hat and a new fear took hold. What if she didn't get put in Ravenclaw. It wasn't long before the sorting hat called her name and her fear became more real as she took her seat on the stool and prayed. "Please..." she muttered as the old hat was placed on her head.

"You don't have anything to worry about - you're certainly a RAVENCLAW!"

Nathanial stood beside his sister, finding her presence to be one of the only familiar things around him. He wanted to be patient, but it was really hard. Really, really hard. he just wanted all of this done an dusted so he could move along to other stuff, like eating. Food was great. He was mainly looking for his mother, and when he found her, he was not entirely impressed. He rarely saw her anyway, and now he would be seeing a lot of her, and he wasn't crash-hot about that. In fact, he was quite aggravated about it. Now that he was here, he would run into her everywhere and it wasn't fair. She was never, ever around, and now he was stuck with her. He frowned slightly at Emily's reception of their mother, and in an attempt to avoid her wrath at a later date, he too gave her a wave, but not as enthusiastically as his sister. He did, however, grin when his mind turned from his mother and of where he was once more. He was finally at school - ready to have fun, make friends, and use magic like an adult. It felt amazing, and while he knew he had a lot of growing up to do before he was an actual adult, he felt pretty amazing. He could not wait to get that hat on his head and then his butt at a table.

His sister was called before him - considering their names. He, however, paid little attention to her sorting, and instead thought about what he would do after this. He was standing in a crowd of potential friends and he was psyched about it, and one of the reasons he wanted to go to school and not be home-schooled. Running his fingers through his bushy, messy hair, Nathanial jerked his head up when he heard his name, and almost ran towards the stool, before sitting on it and feeling the hat on his head. He chewed his lower lip in anticipation and waited in silence for the hat's decision.

Last year went by so fast and the police had only caught him one for a small fire he had started. This time he had not done it with a lighter or a magnifying glass, it just started automatically. Just like Magic and that it was, a week later an old looking letter arrived with the daily mail. When Jasper heard about this Magical school, he got really excited and could not wait to learn more and maybe grew big on this so called Magical school. His mum and dad were super excited that they had a wizard in the family and Jasper loved all this positive attention, not that he was a person that loved to stand in the spotlights, most of his plans happened when he was hidden for plain sight. Jasper had a pretty thick Kiwi accent, but he could put this Romantic undertone in it. Girls swooned and boys always took the blame for his pranks or fires that he made. When Jasper and his parents arrived at the train station he hugged them goodbye and promised he would be a good boy. If he would become famous at this school he wanted the illusive name of Fire starter. Since he was a little boy he was already in love with fire, his parents had given him a magnifying glass for Christmas and he would always burn ants with it.

The train trip went by quickly and Jazz stepped out of the train and a giant looking castle could be seen from far. When they entered the castle and he saw the large wooden tables, some images about starting a giant fire were flooding in. He would not do it, but his mind just worked that way. He was a Muggle born and all these other students would have a slight advantage over him, he was not the smartest person here, but he was not dumb either. Jazz was a normal boy with some slight problems. All the newly students were walking in a group and Jasper was already sorting them in houses, not that he had any clue what he was doing, but it was something. The hat that was currently residing in the Headmasters hand would provide his future. The hat was magical and should be worshipped, he had this big task of putting boys and girls in houses. ''Would that hat be flame retardant?'' Jazz thought to himself, he hoped that it was, since who would sort these kids without the magical hat or did the hat had a magical sock brother. The hat looked old and filthy and he was wondering how old it actually was. Jasper always had his head filled with questions and plans to destroy things. He loved creating small fires and just to see things burn. Jazz had cheered and clapped when other students were sorted, everyone else was doing it and he did not want to stand out. He did not need to be the centre of attention to gain power. People that always stood in the spotlight would be caught and found out eventually. When the hat called his name, he silently walked up to the stool and awaited his faith. ''Do your job hat, I have faith in you.'' Jazz had emptied his head, so the hat could unleash its magic. Jasper would always protect himself from harm or destruction, he would try to excel at the school even if he had to use an unfair way.

Alexia had been waiting for this for years. It wasn't like she was excited to learn in Hogwarts New Zealand. It was because this was the chance she had been waiting for to prove herself to her grandparents and to her father. This might be the only chance that she would get to prove to the elders that she even if she was a girl, she was better than Rivaille and Liam and would be a better head for the family. And maybe then, she would actually gain her father's affection and acceptance. Well, first off, she needs to get through sorting first. And she wasn't about to settle for Hufflepuff nor Gryffindor. Ravenclaw was a good choice, but Slytherin was the best if she wanted to prove herself worthy of being the head. Liam and Rivaille were both Slytherins after all. Shaking the thoughts out of her head, she walked into the Great Hall right behind the rest of the first years, wanting to maintain some distance between them in case some of them were mudbloods and half-breeds.

Alexia didn't like waiting, but then again, she had nothing else to do but wait whilst she crossed her arms and looked over to her twin, her eyes showing her obvious dislike of waiting. The young girl wasn't in a hurry or anything. She just didn't like the idea of just standing there and listening to the Hat's loud voice announcing the house of every person that sits on that stool in front of the crowd. Several minutes passed by and finally it was her name that was called, just after her twin brother's. "Nightray, Alexia," the woman called out and the girl maneuvered her way through the crowd, careful to not make contact with anyone before she finally sat on the stool with the hat on her head. She hoped it would be quick and though she wanted to be in Slytherin, she would not ask this filthy hat to put her there. Perhaps it was smart enough to know that she belonged in the house of Salazar Slytherin.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that you're smart enough to recognize when you should just relax and not try to control everything or, indeed, to realize that perhaps a magical hat doing this for hundreds of years is more adept to it than some tiny girl that's too afraid of her family to live her own life. But as you wish: SLYTHERIN!"

Jeanne was nervous, she was pressed in the middle of the unsorted students, waiting to be called.
She was worried she wouldn't recognize her name, it had proven really hard for new zealanders to pronounce it right. Fortunately, in the school year she had spend on the island, she heard almost every mispronunciation possible, so when her turn came, she knew it was her time to walk up to the weird looking talking hat. Jeanne shyly made her way through the crowd and, watching her step so she wouldn't trip on her own feet, reached the stool where stood the sorting hat. She sat down, closed her eyes, trying to breathe deeply to slow down her heartbeat and waited for the headmistress place the sorting hat on her head.

Lucas Xavier Chase walked into the Great Hall that he heard so much about. He looked ahead with his intense, brown eyes. Nothing could save him from being sorted. It had been years why he decided that Hogwarts was not the best match for him, and he would have to share the school with one of his siblings. Obviously, his parents disagreed, and now he had to go. He had to listen to his parents. Rules were laws, and could never be severed. No matter how much he protested and begged, he had to go. He thought of ways to avenge this. Lucas would find a way to rebel, but how can he rebel without attracting too much negative attention to himself? He did not want to be known all over the school, yet he did not want to be known as Benjamin's or Victoria's little brother. There was truly no pleasing the young boy. He would have to find a way around this, and he would have to find a way to save himself the agony of going to this school.

"Lucas Chase!" the Headmaster called out with a booming voice. Lucas grumbled as he shoved his way through the crowd. The crowd was large, of course, thanks for the fact that he was one of the first ones sorted. He sat down where he needed, and felt the hat upon his head. He stared ahead, looking over the crowd. His eyes filled with older students from the Gryffindor table. He saw his sister, Victoria, sitting there. He looked down at his hands and he started to think, 'I really don't want to be here, but I don't have a choice. Please, don't put me in Slytherin or Gryffindor. I want to be separated from my siblings. Please, Sorting Hat.' With his luck, perhaps the hat could hear him, and grant him his wish.

"You could do quite well in Slytherin, you know - your desire to learn as much as you can about magic would see to that. But if you're quite sure, I suppose you'll also find a home in RAVENCLAW!"
