Slytherin,PracticeVanity would never admit it, but she was a little nervous to be running the team on her own. It was a big responsibility, and she did really want to win. Tryouts hadn't been as busy as she had hoped, and she kind of hated how she had to take a second year on in a starting position and a firstie as an alternate. But that had been worth it to kick Sunny off the team. Vanity wished she could've seen her stupid face when she finally saw the team listing on the board in the common room. It had been easy enough to justify. No team needed four beaters.

She had called the team to the pitch for an early practice on a Saturday. She knew that likely wasn't a popular choice, but they had to make some sacrifices if they wanted to be the best. Vanity was willing to bench anyone who didn't show up to practice, so it was also kind of a test. She wanted a dedicated team around her. She waited at the pitch for everyone to arrive, a whistle around her neck. When the team had assembled, Vanity spoke shortly. "Alright, we're not going to play in mock teams or anything like that. I want you to treat anyone on the field like they're from an enemy team. Play like you want to win, and play like you want to impress me." She smirked. "And you do, because I'll be graduating this year, and I haven't decided who can take over yet."

With that, she blew the whistle and gestured for everyone to fly into the air and get started.

OOCOut of Character:
Just get into it!

Gaia arrived to the pitch ready to defend her hoops like her life depended on it and by the sounds of the captain, Vanity, it might as well have. Once the captain was done with her little speech Gaia got onto her broom and flew straight for her hoops.

Sybil was eager to get in as much practice as she could and took to the air quickly. She was even able to grab the quaffle first and headed towards the hoops.

Zeke was pretty happy to get alt seeker on the team first go. He listened to the captain then got on his broom to start looking for the snitch.

Sybil approached the hoops but missed her first shot. She brushed it off quickly, it was only the beginning of practice.

Zeke was just getting started, taking it all in.

Amanita was practically vibrating as she got to practice. As the only first year on the team, the pressure was real to make sure she could prove she'd earnt her spot. Vanity must have seen something in her, especially since Amanita had heard she'd cut a 5th year over her.

She felt a chill at Vanity's request to impress her, her stomach twisting. Vanity seemed so cool and in charge, Amanita would kill to look that collected and pretty all while swinging a beaters bat. Gathering her courage, Amanita grabbed the quaffle after Sybil missed her shot, trying to keep her grip steady as she took to towards the hoops.

Vanity observed the others, mostly because she felt like she had to know what they could do as captain. She hovered high in the sky and watched them. But when a bludger came close, she did try to give it a hit. She had been aiming for Sybil, but the bludger went off course and crashed into @Zeke Baros instead. Oh well.

Zeke almost fell off his broom when the bludger hit, he'd never been hit that hard in his life!

Amanita gripped the quaffle tight, checking over her shoulder to see where the other players were. Approaching the hoops however, she froze. What if she missed again. What if she missed her first official shot on the team? The idea was mortifying, and Amanita quickly passed to @Sybil St. James before anyone could notice her hesitation.

Sybil followed their new chaser as she grabbed the quaffle next. She was almost surprised when Amanita tossed the quaffle to her. Most of her teammates were a bit more focused on their own shots at the hoops than passing. She wasn't very graceful but she caught the quaffle and kept flying towards the hoops.

Kanako got right into it. She'd missed hitting things. It was therapy to her, when baking or taiko drumming didn't work out. Unfortunately, her first hit didn't work out either.

"Lets go!" Alana took to the air and got practice started in earnest by hitting a bludger at @Zeke Baros

Sybil approached the hoops and frowned as she missed again.

Gaia blocked the shot from one of the chasers, she’d also noticed one of the seekers having been hit twice now. Tough luck, at least it wasn’t her.

Amanita was glad no one seemed to worry about her not taking the shot. Passing was an important skill to practice too, she reminded herself, wiling her broom forward to grab the quaffle when Gaia threw it back in.

Kanako tried to hit another but missed again.

Amanita approached the hoops again, trying to ready the quaffle and keep a steady hand on her broom. The second Gaia came into view again though, she faltered. Sybil had missed both her shots on goal so far and no one had cared but the idea of Ama missing too, of Gaia blocking her, made her entire body want to break out in a cold sweat. Swerving at the last minute she passed to the nearest chaser again.

Gaia saw the youngest chaser, her sisters roommate, hesitate right before throwing her quaffle in and frowned a little. Was she that scary? Maybe Gaia should let her know she wasn't all that good yet herself, but then again maybe it was better to assert dominance over the younger ones, though Gaia didn't care enough for such, so she just kept an eye on the other chasers to see which one would take the quaffle next.

Kanako didn't manage to make a hit. Darn. This usually went a bit better than this.

Kanako onc again missed a bludger. This was getting a bit rough.

Ignatius felt a bit outnumbered on this team but tried not to let that get to him as he just tried to focus on catching the snitch. At least Sunny wasn't there, he thought with a degree of relief.

No bludgers hit him for a minute, allowing his breath back. Zeke kept an eye on the older seeker, word was he'd been seeker since first year and that must mean he's really good by now.

Gaia kept an eye out for selener (quaffle) in case any of the chasers wanted to take another try at getting one through the hoops. It really was a shame the first year had not tried her luck.
