Eleanora couldn't believe everything that had happened in just two short days. She had gotten to Hogwarts, been sorted, separated from her only two friends, started classes, and made new friends. It had been exhausting really. Yet still here she was in the forest instead of her extremely comfy bed. This was the longest she had been separated from her twin for as long as she could remember. The two had been stuck together like glue since before they were even born. So Ellie had taken matters into her own hands, and slipped him a note at dinner that night that asked him to meet her here. They had heard stories about the forest, and how dangerous it was. So of course they had to explore it. Once all her house mates had settled down, and snoring could be heard from a few beds Ellie tipped toed out of her room, and somehow made it all the way out of the castle without being spotted. Once she was outside sneaking around was a little bit easier. There were more shadows to hide in, and less staff to sneak around. Ellie broke into the trees, and waited quietly in the meeting place she had mentioned in her note.

Venturing into the Forbidden Forest has always been on Lysanders list of things he wanted to do once he'd finally made it to the castle, after hearing countless stories of the place from his fathers - some of which sounded too wild for even him to believe. Despite all of the schools warnings against it, the boy wasn't too worried about the supposed dangers of the forest, not when he knew he'd have his sister with him. The two of them could totally handle anything, he was sure. What were a bunch of trees going to do? Nothing, that was what. If anything they would probably get to meet some centaurs for the first time, if his father hadn't been lying about them living there. It would all go perfectly fine.

Lysander slinked out of the common room as quietly as he could, his shoes in his arms to avoid any loud noises, and his pockets full of stink pellets in case he needed a quick distraction. Shockingly he managed to descend all seven floors without much more than a couple of annoyed comments from the portraits in the corridors. By the time he'd reached the courtyard, his socks were dirty from all of the dust he'd picked up while tip-toeing around, and he took a moment to pop his shoes back on before hurrying off to find his sister.

By the time Lysander spotted his siblings blonde hair by the treeline, it was cutting it close to ten minutes past the specified time in her note. In his defence, he had to do a whole lot more walking to get out of the castle than she did. "Psst, Ellie." He whispered with a sheepish smile. "Sorry, these trees all look the same. You ready? I guess Spencer isn't coming is he?"

Ellie sat with her back pressed against a tree as she waited for her brother to arrive. Normally she would be exhausted by this time of night, but the adrenaline of sneaking out, and breaking the rules was keeping her wide awake. She kept her ears, and eyes open trying to listen for anything dangerous coming from the forest, or worse, a Professor on patrol. She knew from eaves dropping on her father's conversations that he liked to patrol the forest in animagus form. It would give him a smell, and hearing advantage. One she hoped to also have one day, but that was far in the future.

She was starting to worry Lysander had gotten caught when the boy finally appeared. She quickly wrapped her arms around her brother and gave him a tight hug. She hadn't realized quite how much she had missed him until he was here. "Yeah I'm ready! No I didn't tell him. He's so nervous about being in school I didn't think he could handle any rule breaking this early." Ellie explained. Of course it would have been nice to have Spencer along. The boy seemed to always know when something was about to happen. "How far in do you think the centaur herd lives?" She asked in a whisper as she started making her way deeper into the forest. She hoped they would meet some.

Lysander returned his sister's hug with as much enthusiasm. It was harder than he thought to have to spend so much time away from her now, and tracking down anyone in such a big castle was a mission in itself. They needed a better way to communicate than notes over dinnertime, so he could see her whenever he needed that comfort and familiarity. "Ha, I don't know if he could ever handle it. It's okay, we can tell him all about tonight when we see him next. I just hope he doesn't feel left out." Sander responded, taking a hold of his sister's hand as they broke their embrace and moved on. He didn't want to lose her in here, or get lost himself. It was hard enough finding his way around on his own, as evidenced by how long it had taken him to reach their meeting place to begin with.

The boy thought about his sister's question for a moment, having not considered how long they'd have to walk until now. "Um, probably like way, way in the middle or something, I bet." He said, waving his outstretched arm toward the distance which each "way". "I don't think it can be too far though. How big can this forest be? They need to hide it from all the muggles, right?" Sander had no idea how big of an area could be made invisible, but with how many small pockets of magical places there were, he wasn't sure it could be massive. Otherwise, surely they'd all just live in one magical country together and not have to be so careful all the time. "It's so dark. I can't see a thing." He continued, cautiously digging into his pockets for his wand, all the while trying to avoid setting off any stink pellets. He really should have kept them separated. Carefully lifting the maple wood, he gave it a flick in the air. "Lumos." He said, watching as a small light blossomed on the top of his wand, before flickering out. Furrowing his brows, he tried again. "Come on, Lumos!" He incanted again, watching with a gleeful smile as the light that shone stayed lit this time. "Isn't this so awesome? We're real wizards and witches now." Sander laughed, holding his wand out to illuminate the path, and all of the roots he'd be in danger of stumbling over.

Time was ticking for Fleur, and she hadn't realized it until this year. As much as Fleur looked forward to working with dragons in her future, she also really enjoyed her time at Hogwarts. But she was now in her sixth year, which meant she didn't have much longer to enjoy it all. She hadn't gone into the forest nearly enough, and was annoyed with herself for letting her Prefect's badge keep her out last year. It was high time for some adventure, and maybe after her siblings had settled in, Fleur could take them into the forest too. She grinned as she stepped into the woods. It was even better to explore at night, though she knew it also added to the danger. But Fleur knew quite a few spells by now, and she actually really wanted to meet some of the creatures that hid in the forest.

She was making her way forward through the dark forest, ducking under branches and moving as quietly as she could, when the sight of a sudden light made her freeze in her tracks. She peeked through leaves to find the source of the light, and could now also hear a young voice. Fleur grinned. Some other students had also gotten the idea to go exploring. From the little she could see, she guessed they were first or second years. If they were first years, they did have guts to come out here on their second night in the castle. She wondered how they would react to some spooky noises, and purposely rustled some leaves to see what they would do. She knew it wasn't very prefect-like to tease some younger students, but being in the forest in the first place was already against the rules. Besides, if anything actually appeared, Fleur would be able to protect them, she reasoned.

Eleanora nodded in agreement when Lysander said they would make sure to tell Spencer all about their adventure. Maybe if they came back alright they could convince him to come along for the next one. "We'll make sure to invite him along next time. This way we'll have a good argument about it being fine." Ellie whispered back to him. She nodded when Lysander rationalized that the forest couldn't be that big. He made a very good point. As her brother pulled out his wand and cast a spell Ellie couldn't help but feel a bit competitive. She could cast spells too! The young girl took hers out as well, and with a flick cast, "Lumos". Unlike her brothers hers didn't flicker out, but it was much duller. She gave a frustrated huff before casting the spell again. Thankfully the second time the light was brighter.

Ellie was just about to respond to her brothers excitement when she heard some leaves rustling to her side. She quickly tucked her wand under her arm to dull the light. It was a habit formed from years of sneaking out of bed at night. "Did you hear that?" She whispered to Lysander as she gripped his arm with her free hand. Hopefully it had just been the wind.

His twin's huff of frustration elicited a chuckle from Lysander more so than the luminosity of her wand, despite his own flickering failure on his first try. He hadn't had a lot of time to practice any spells in the short period they'd been at the castle, nor was he entirely sure where to even begin. There was already so much going on as it was, between finding his way around to classes, or anywhere else in the school for that matter. It was a lot to adjust to and somewhat overwhelming, so even having learned one simple spell was something he considered a huge accomplishment.

The sound of rustling leaves had Sander whipping around on the spot, his eyes peering uselessly into the darkness. It was impossible to see, and if anything he thought the light of his wand made the distance appear even darker. Following his sister's example, he attempted to dim the light of his wand by hooking it under his cloak, concerned for a moment that the sound may have been a professor who had followed him. The last thing he needed was to get caught after barely walking a few metres into the forest. "Yeah, I think so." He whispered back. He stepped forward to stand protectively in front of his sister, despite the fact her growth spurt meant she was taller than he was.

As much as he wanted to believe it was the wind blowing through the leaves, it didn't feel like it was a particularly windy night, and the rustling sounded almost too deliberate, like an animal crawling through the undergrowth. There were no wolves or bears in New Zealand, but that didn't mean there weren't plenty of other things lurking about. "I bet its a hag." He teased after a short pause, throwing Ellie a devious grin. "Don't worry, I've got this. This'll scare anything off." The boy kept his wand firmly pressed beneath his arm and dipped his hand into his pocket. Withdrawing a couple of small green pellets, he proceeded to throw them in the general direction the sound had come from. They landed, and with a small puff of smoke, released their noxious fumes.

Fleur grinned as she saw the kids react to her noise. She often played jokes like this on her younger siblings. Mostly Emma, who was best equipped to deal with it. She figured any kids willing to sneak into the Forbidden Forest on the second night at Hogwarts were made of pretty sturdy stuff too. Fleur thought it was pretty adorable how the boy stepped in front of the girl. She was just about to reveal herself to the two of them, not wanting to actually traumatize a couple of first years, when the boy threw something in her direction. Fleur only had a second to wonder what it could be, because then the smell made itself apparent enough. She yelped in alarm and started to cough, waving her arm in an attempt to wave the disgusting smell away. Pinching her nose closed, Fleur jumped out of the bush she was hiding in, coughing and pulling faces. "That was uncalled for!" She called to the two kids, though she couldn't help a small laugh from escaping too. "But.. eugh, effective and pretty resourceful." She admitted, moving away from the smell and approaching the two of them. She wrinkled her nose. "Do you know if that will cling to my robes? It'll make sneaking back into Gryffindor more difficult." She said, looking down at herself with a sigh. She looked back at the two kids again and relized she recognized one from Gryffindor. The other looked unfamiliar, so she assumed she was in a different house. She rubbed at her face, then shook her head. "At least it seems like you guys aren't helpless and lost here."
