It's that time of year again everyone and it won't be too long before Christmas is upon us. So, to join in with the festivities, we here at Hogwarts New Zealand have decided to run the popular Secret Santa gift exchange program. For those of you who weren't here for Secret Santa in past years, here's a basic run down of what it is:

The main aim of Secret Santa is to send someone a gift, but not have them know who it was from. And it is that simple. The 'Secret' part adds an element of surprise to Christmas, and we all like surprises here.

Taking part:

Between now and the 12th of December, we are allowing sign-ups to take place for those of you whom are interested in sending some-one else a gift. After the sign-up period, an exchange list will be created; and each of you shall be contacted with the name of your recipient. After you receive their name, you will have a few weeks to create a gift. This gift could be any one of a number of things, such as a signature banner; avatar; animated picture depicting your friendship; a song; a poem; or anything else your creative mind can think of.

Ideally, the deadline will be December 22nd to allow time for behind the scenes work, although some wiggle room will be available if I know beforehand. On Christmas day (or Christmas Eve night), a topic shall be made available; containing the gifts and who they are for. You will each then be free to glomp your Santa.

Can't submit?:

During this gift exchange, we would like you to keep your recipient a secret. As we mentioned, we like surprises. If you sign up to submit a gift, but some-how cannot do so within the given dead-line, we would really like it if you where to inform us of this; preferably before the 20th of December, so we may use a fall-back option. If you fail to notify us, then, in the interest of fairness, you will automatically forfeit your own gift. None of us wish for this to happen, especially at Christmas; so please make sure to plan appropriately.

With all of that out of the way, sign-ups are now open. Simply fill out the small set of questions; which will allow your Santa to better design your gift. Once done, simply enjoy yourselves during the whole event.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas.

So it's not officially Christmas Day everywhere in World but regardless it's time for Santa to come to deliver all of the lovely people from HNZ their presents. Over the past few weeks (or so) people have been working hard on completely presents for their recipients and I want to take this time to thank each and every one of you for your hard work on all of these presents - I'm sure it's going to mean a lot to whomever receives them. I would also like to thank you all for making this another very successful Secret Santa.

The eve before Christmas or a visit from secret Santa

'Twas the eve before Christmas and all around the site
People waited for Santa to visit that night
Gifts had been made for others with pride
In the hope that they will be received and well liked

All members were tucked up all snug in their beds
While ideas and plots formed in their heads
And Jessye in her distant part of the country
Dreamed of glitter, feathers, Christmas and Glee

When outside her window came such a hubbub
She left her warm bed to see what was up
Off to her window she went with great poise
To find out the reason for all of the noise

The first thing she saw when she looked through the glass
Was a glow from the snow freshly fallen on the grass
Then around the corner and up the drive
An odd array of people started to arrive

Lead by a lady her blue eyes aglow
Jessye knew from first glance it must be miss Snow
Then more people into the garden came
And from the window Jessye knew them by name

There was Alyssa, Ostensia, Aphrodite, Ariah
Kairyx, Theodore, Iulian and Desdemona
Then came Astoria, and Kaia, and plenty of more
They made Jessye wonder what they were there for

There was one in the group Jessye didn't recognise
Mia was her name and Briar her disguise
She mounted a broom and then with great skill
Flew up to the window where Jessye watched from the sill

Then with a look of surprise on her face
Jessye moved back to give Mia some space
Mia nodded in thanks and started to say
"I’m sorry to suprise you on Christmas Day"

She reached into her pocket and withdrew a present
"I hope that you find the content quite pleasant"
Inside was a scroll that had on it a rhyme
"It may not be much but it took me some time"

She then got on her broom and gave the signal to go
Jessye look as the others mounted their brooms below
Then she heard Mia call out as she flew far away
"Merry Christmas to you, may you have a good day"
