Rowan couldn’t remember the last time she’d been home. It had been longer than she’d initially intended… and yet, it had also been less time than she’d initially planned. It was a strange half way situation that she felt a little weird about, but at the same time she was so glad things had gone the way that they had. She had needed to spend some time away from the memories of her sister, and since everything had reminded her of Elsie, she’d known there was only one way to do that. Honestly she was just glad that Elio had seen fit to accompany her. She didn’t think she’d actually wanted to be alone no matter how much she’d talked about standing on her own two feet. Of course she’d considered that independence in the view of Elio anyway. It felt strange for her to know that she was the only one left. Though she couldn’t wait to explore what that would mean for her.
Knocking on the door to the apartment where she knew her brother now lived, she leaned casually against the frame. She’d left Elio at the book store, he was meeting up with Ava, and Rowan knew she’d needed to see her brother before she saw anyone else - honestly it wasn’t that she hadn’t even seen him in nearly five years, since they’d spent a couple of Christmases together when he’d gone to America to visit their mother and cousins, since she’d done the same, though far less than he had. But it was nice to see how he was doing and she was also hoping to see her little nephew, he was such a cutie after all and she needed him to know that she was here for him if he ever needed her. She was done running these days, now she just wanted to build her life like she’d always intended.
“Hey big brother, guess who’s back in town?”
