Open Heta Omega Talent Show Y31

Amber enjoyed the large variety of acts they had seen so far. Musical ones were always nice, but she watched in some confusion as one of the two kids from the next duo act showed off a handstand. Was the other person late? The confusion didn’t immediately clear up as a girl appeared on the stage too and pushed him over. The two had a brief exchange, but then they started playing which made Amber feel more at ease. Maybe some last minute changes had to be made? She didn’t let herself wonder on it too long. The song was nice and the two of them seemed to work well together. When it was over, Amber gave the twins a wide smile. “Well done, you two. You can tell the two of you are a great team and are used to working together.” She said sincerely, though she winced when they started chasing each other and fell over. It seemed dangerous to her, and not entirely fitting for the talent show. Rather than focus on it, she decided to call for the next and final act. “Up next are Emilia Manning and Athena Holmgaard, also our last act of the evening. Please take the stage!”

Emilia didn't know what she had been thinking, letting her cousin sign them up together for the talent show. Athena hadn’t really seemed ready to sing on her own, and it had felt nice to be asked, but now that she was here she was regretting the decision immensely. To make matters worse, they were the final act. Emilia had watched the previous acts with a mounting feeling of dismay and panic, as almost every single one of them seemed way better than what she could do. The girl knew she was a good piano player, but she had never performed in front of an audience this big before. What if she got nervous and messed up? Not only would she look foolish, but she would disappoint Athena too. By the time their names were called, Emilia was pale and breathing quickly, her heart racing. Sapphire had talked to her, given her a little pep talk, but by now it was hard to focus on anything positive. Anxiously, she smoothed down her white dress. Would it look okay from the audience? She had picked it because she liked it, but she had no idea if it would look nice on the stage too.

There was a moment when their names were called where Emilia was sure she wouldn’t do it. It felt like her legs simply wouldn’t move, no matter how hard she tried. But she glanced at Athena and knew her cousin was counting on her. And Evelyn was one of the judges, which meant she was expecting Athena and Emilia to perform. Every single other performance in the talent show had gone well, and if Emilia didn’t show she would ruin the very last one. Taking a deep breath, she focused on what Evelyn would do in her position. Surely, she would walk out onto the stage confidently and flash everyone a big smile. Maybe if she pretended for a moment she was her cousin, she could do the same. Emilia followed Athena onto the stage and immediately sat down at the piano, focusing her attention on the familiar instrument. She didn’t want to disappoint anyone, but the idea of having eyes focused on her made her nervous enough to mostly hide behind her hair as she started to play. Hopefully, no one would say anything about it. Once her fingers touched the keys, a sense of calm came over her. She was still nervous about being on stage, but this she knew how to do. The two of them had practiced together many times, and Emilia had little problem playing the beginning part, even though Athena wasn’t singing yet and it really was just her making music. But then Athena joined the music with her voice, and Emilia relaxed even more. It worked, them making music together. As children they already practiced their music with each other, and though Athena was more versatile, they had always clicked. Emilia lost herself a bit in the music she was playing, though she never quite forgot the audience. She tried her best to focus on the sound of Ethan’s voice and the movements of her own fingers, though she dared a glance at the audience once. It was a mistake, as her fingers faltered briefly only a moment later. Emilia flushed, but she didn’t think the mistake was too noticeable to people that hadn’t heard her play the song dozens of times. When she song ended, Emilia stared at her fingers on the keys for a moment before turning her head and looking at the audience and judges. Her expression had calmed a lot compared to the moment she had walked on stage, but she still looked very nervous. Her gaze darted to Athena, wondering if she thought it had gone well.

Athena was nervous for today. Evelyn had convinced her and Emilia to join the talent show. Athena would never perform alone so she was glad that Emilia wanted to join her. They made a good team she knew. They often practiced together and loved music very much. Athena first wanted to play the piano or the guitar together with Emilia, because she played the piano also. But Athena wanted to practice with singing too. She was too insecure about that part and performing on this talent show and singing in front of all those people seemed to be the way to let that fear go. Or it could go the other way and she would be laughed out, but she didn't thought Evelyn was gonna let that happen. So the fact that her cousin was one of the judges was somewhat helping.

The blonde had been looking to all the acts with a smile on her face. She was sure they were nervous too. It was fun to see what kind of talents people had. When they were annouched the blonde took her cousin her hand for a moment and smiled. They were gonna do this and how nervous Athena was she wanted to enjoy this too. Athena walked on to the stage and smiled at the jury and the audience. Ofcourse she was wearing something from her mothers brand, because sometimes Athena was a living advertisment, but she liked this outfit. For the act they had been thinking of how to begin, but they decided to just start with the song. The blonde smiled at her cousin and went sitting on a stool in front of the piano but close to Emilia. Emilia started to play and Athena was kind of glad she didn't played and sang the same time. Emilia was a far better piano player than she was. But Athena played more instruments, so Emilia was a more professional piano player than she was. Athena started singing and felt how her voice was a bit nervous at first but the high note went perfect and Athena even started to smile and dared to look more into the crowd. She was glad that she could sit on a stool, because standing was more frighting and she was sure that she should fall. With the last note the blonde looked around at her cousin of how she played the last notes. Than she went standing from her stool and hugged her cousin for a short moment of how relieved she was that it was over but also of how good it went. After the jury had said their piece the blonde walked of stage together with her cousin.

Evelyn applaused as both of her cousins came on the stage. She felt proud that they took a chance to actually do this. She knew how good they both were and hoped that they would enjoy what they were doing too. She had to convince them a bit but it succeeded and Evelyn was glad that they did. She had enjoyed the music performances so far and was wondering what Athena and Emilia would come up with. She noticed how nervous they both looked and hoped that the audience would be as kind as they had behaved so far. It wasn't nice when people were unkind. They hadn't dared to perform and were just watching what was happening so the people that had signed up were kind of brave. The blonde went sitting for it and looked at Noemie and Amber for a moment. Than when Emilia started to play she smiled. It was beautiful and when Athena sang along it just fitted perfectly. She didn't knew Athena could sing so well and she had guessed that she would play an instrument as well but she dared to sang only. When the two were finished and Emilia played her last notes Evelyn clapped excited. '' Wow girls! It was amazing. It takes a lot of courage to sing in front of all those people. And Emilia you play the piano very beautifully. I'm proud. You look amazing too, good choice!'' Evelyn wasn't gonna lie about that and she would not give her cousins the most credit. She was an honest judge but she wanted to tell them how great they were. And after the show she was gonna tell them again. Evelyn couldn't believe it! All the acts had been and now it was time to award the prizes. She went standing and walked to the podium together with her friends and judges. '' What an amazing show right? I want to give a big applause to all of the attendeees and everyone that helped with making this show how it is. It is very brave that they stood on this stage today. And they all have some interesting talents.'' The blonde said happy. Than she looked at Amber and Noemie. '' Now it is time to decide who will win one of the trophies. So we are gonna take a moment to discuss this. Feel free to grab a drink from the table and a delicious snack in the back of the Great Hall and don't miss the price ceremony!'' Evelyn had listened to the applause after every act and they audience had helped them in some way. She was gonna award the trophy for the best outfit and she had been paying good attention to that. The blonde walked to the back of the stage and went sitting down with Amber and Noemie to discuss the prizes.

Amber had been pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the talent show had gone. It really had been wonderful to see all the different acts, and she wasn’t sure how they were ever going to choose each of the categories. After some discussion, the three of them had decided on the winners. Amber thought they had picked some varied acts, which she liked. She was allowed to announce the first winner of the first category, the best single act. Stepping onto the stage with the trophy, Amber smiled at the audience and waited for them to quiet down after the small break until she started speaking. “Thank you all for coming here today and supporting the many acts. And a big thanks for all the students who have shown their amazing talent here today. I’m here to announce the first winner in the category best solo act.” Amber glanced at her clipboard as if she had to remind herself of who had won, though it was just for show. “Please give it up for October Alcott with her act of combining ballet with violin. It was truly a magnificent performance.” She said, grinning as she beckoned the girl over to the stage and handed her the trophy. She wouldn’t be able to keep it, as it would go to the trophy room, but it would be nice for Nixon to take pictures of the winners with their prizes. Then she looked at the other girls, as one of them would award the next prize.

Evelyn was glad she had two other members in the jury to discuss with. There had been many talents performing and they were all interesting. Even the Gideon was a talent, because Evelyn would not be able to do that. She smiled and followed Amber on the stage and was glad that Noemie brought the last trophy along. Daphne was gonna introduce the first winner and the blonde smiled and applaused for October in her beautiful tutu. Evelyn had never wore such a thing but she was curious how it would look on herself. But that was not for now. She had no idea with what she would perform if she wouldn't be a judge but participant. She could show her design skills in a mini fashion show, but that was not for here she thought. Evelyn smiled as October got her prize. The Ravenclaw prefect had deserved it for her act. Now it was time to announce the last two prizes and Evelyn was gonna do both, since Noemie didn't liked to speak in front of people that much, so the blonde wanted to do it for her. '' So now the last categories. We also looked at the outfits of people. Because that's kind of a talent too. I'm pleased to announce that the winner of the best outfit is..'' Evelyn smiled at the crowd and than looked at the winners. '' Avaria and Kira! Come on the stage girls. You were stylish and creative in your choosing. Congratulations!'' The blonde gave them the award and smiled. Now it was time to award the last and Evelyn was glad to announce the funny duo. But Amber was right in them for using bad words. Evelyn wasn't such strict as Amber had been, but she had a point. '' Now are we ready for the final prize. The best duo act from today we chose..'' Evelyn than kept silent for a moment to build up the excitement.

She than smiled bright. '' The winners are the funny Uno and Phineas! But please be gentle with the microphone next time.'' Evelyn winked to the little first year boy. She awared them their trophy and smiled again. The blonde than took the microphone again and spoke. '' So this is the end of the first ever Heta Omega Talent show. If I speak for us three. I want to thank you the audience for coming and I hope you all enjoyed the show as we did. I hope to see you next year, because we are very open for it! '' Evelyn smiled for a moment and hoped that the people had enjoyed this. She was glad to be able to give the people a stage and for Heta Omega to perhaps have started a event that will go on for more years, she hoped. Last year it would be her last and she wanted to make the best of it. '' If the winners wanted to have a trophy for their own they can come to me I can arrange that.'' Evelyn could make that happen, there was not many limits for her in her life. She thanked her father mostly for that. She looked at Amber and Noemie for a moment and smiled. '' I want to thank Amber and Noemie too for their hard work and making this happen. I've loved to do this together with you guys. A big applause please!'' Evelyn said while smiling bright it was a great succes and she hoped that everyone thought like that.

OOC: The winners can react now! All other acts can react in the spectators topic if they want. I hope you all liked this event as we did! Thanks everyone for participating.

Watching the rest of the acts, October slowly felt the butterflies building in her stomach. Some of them were... silly, but some of them were really good, and she didn't know how high her chances were by the end of the show. It was difficult to keep her nerves off her face as the judges discussed their decisions, and October couldn't resist stealing the occasional glances at them as she sipped her glass of water. It had been years since she had done anything competitive for dance, the exams she sat in the winter holidays the closest she ever got. What if she had lost whatever it was that made her special? What if Dad had been right about her needing all the extra tutors and teachers? She had worked hard on her act, but what if it wasn't enough?

October's worries were interrupted by Amber's voice and she looked up at the stage, heart dropping into her stomach. Setting her cup down quickly, she tried to seem unaffected, but couldn't tear her eyes away from Amber as she spoke. When Amber said October's name it almost didn't register in her mind for a moment. That was her, she had won. Face quickly splitting into a wide grin, October's pointe shoes clunked across the floor as she hurried up to the stage and took her trophy from Amber, a little embarrassed to find that she was fighting back tears. Just a year ago, the only thing October would have been able to think was that maybe this would be something that would make her dad proud of her. But now all she felt was pride in herself, in her own accomplishment. Stepping back, October wiped her eyes quickly as she listened to Evelyn announce the rest of the winners, clapping politely for each of them, though in her mind she questioned the choice of the foul-mouthed rapping pair somewhat. She showed the other winners support though, and made a mental note to ask Evelyn about getting a copy of the trophy for herself later. She didn't want it to show dad, that part of her life was behind her. It would be a reminder of her own strength.

Phineas had great fun watching the other acts - especially Gideon, who was absolutely definitely his new hero - but he was quietly hoping none of the other duos would be quite as awesome as himself and Uno. Luckily, they'd set the bar pretty high, though the Romeo and Juliet performance came worryingly close to beating it when all of that fake blood came gushing out of Domi's stomach. At last the final act finished, and then came the agonising wait while the judges who decided who had won. Finn hurried over to the snack tables with Uno, grabbing some cookies and complaining about how long it was taking because surely, surely it couldn't take them more than thirty seconds to decide that Finn and Uno were the best duo and Gideon was the best solo? "They're probably taking forever cause of the costume one," Finn said, munching on a chocolate-chip cookie and sitting back down to wait for the results.

At long last, the girls took to the stage to announce the winners. A hush fell over the hall, and Finn for one was on the very edge of his seat with anticipation. October? Well, her act had been pretty impressive, Finn supposed; she'd probably put in more training than Gideon had. But Finn still thought Gideon deserved the trophy. Next came costumes - why were they leaving the duo until last? He clapped as Avaria and Kira were called up to receive their trophy, willing them to move a bit faster. The suspense was absolutely going to kill him. Then finally Evelyn moved on to the final prize. So confident was Finn that he stood up half a second before his name was even announced. "Yes!" he shouted, turning to Uno and grabbing her hand in excitement before rushing up to the stage to collect their trophy. He wanted to say a few words to the audience himself, but it looked as if he wasn't going to get that chance. So instead, while Evelyn thanked them for coming, Finn bowed dramatically several times, blowing kisses to his new fans. Their new trophy even had stars on it, presumably to symbolise the stars they were. Of course, they were going to need one each. Finn wanted to keep his on his bedside forever to remember what was definitely the best day of his life, besides the day he threw a water balloon from twenty feet away and hit his sister directly in the face.
