“Do you think Susie will be okay? Should we go and check?” Prim asked as they headed out of the Greenhouses at the end of those twenty minutes. If Professor Carter had come back, she hadn’t seen him. She’d been so busy helping Eury with her mandrake she hadn’t seen their roommate until she’d heard the thump of her hitting the floor. They were lucky that the mandrakes were too young for them to have killed her. She didn’t know how it could possibly have happened, everyone was usually so careful she thought. “What do you suppose happened? Did she push her hair out of the way and it got caught in her earmuffs do you think?” It was the only explanation because there was no way Susie could have possibly been silly enough to try taking her earmuffs off by herself, how absolutely ludicrous of an idea.
OOCOut of Character:
This is completely open, if you were in this class you're welcome to post as you would have seen Susie. You are welcome to post even if you weren't/aren't in the class because I'm sure they'll be happy to tell a rumour.

Jonah didn’t really like Herbology class. He actually didn’t like most classes in Hogwarts but he thought that he hated Herbology the most. He actually didn’t mind the subject all that much, but he didn’t really like the professor who just so happened to be the Hufflepuff Head of House. It didn’t help that today’s lesson had been a bit upsetting. The crying mandrakes were just a little bit upsetting and made Jonah want to cry with them. It was only more upsetting when Susie seemed to drop dead in the class and the professor seemed to think it okay to leave the rest of them with the crying mandrakes. Susie was a Quidditch teammate which is just about the amount of care Jonah had for her considering she was more Tori’s friend than his. They didn’t really talk after all. “She just dropped I think,” he said softly as he walked with the group.

“Maybe Susie died,” Eurydice piped in. She didn’t want Susie to die, but Eury thought that it wouldn’t be awfully weird if someone died in the school anyway. With how dangerous even the first year classes with since professors were allowed to point their wands at students or that they were allowed to have students drink unknown random potions. It was probably only a matter of time before someone had an accident. It was unfortunate that it had to be Susie even though she and Eury weren’t exactly friends. “Do you think he’ll be fired? It happened in his class after all. I know my parents won’t be happy to hear something like this happened in class. I know Tizi-nii and Kael-nii won’t be.” And her brothers were both in the school, one of them as part of the staff so it wouldn’t be surprising if her parents were to find out about it. Not to mention, “I don’t think Ojii-chan would be happy either,” she told her cousin. Both Jonah and Eli were in the class after all.

“I doubt she would have died, the Mandrakes weren’t old enough to do that… I don’t think,” she’d never worked with Mandrakes before so she truly couldn’t be sure she was speaking any truth with any of this. Still, she doubted it, she might have thought Professor Carter should have handled it differently, but she wasn’t a professor, maybe he was doing exactly what he was supposed to do, she didn’t know. Maybe one day is she ever became a professor she could do something about it but not today. “I think she just fainted, I’m sure it was nothing that serious.” If she had died there was no way they would have been left in that classroom, no way. She was sure Professor Carter just wanted to make sure she was okay after having hit her head, that was probably the only issue.

After Susie had hit the floor (and the table) in Herbology, Professor Carter had taken their classmate back up to the castle. Even though Eoghan wasn't close with her, he still considered the Hufflepuff to be within the outer circle of his personal friend group, so it was understandable that as he passed a few other Hufflepuff's on their way back inside, he was taken aback when one of them suggested Susie could have died. Not only was it bad enough that Tori was leaving them soon, but now Susie could potentially have left the building too?

Eoghan listened closely to what they were saying, trying not to make it obvious he was earwigging. Eoghan hadn't seen what had gone wrong with Susie's earmuffs, for all he knew she'd gotten too excited repotting her mandrake and just knocked them clean off. Susie wasn't exactly known for her grace after all. "No, they weren't," he found himself agreeing with Primrose, a girl he'd never really spoken to before now. "Old enough I mean." Of course, Eoghan was no expert, but he'd done his reading. Then again, the professor had never actually told them that these mandrakes specifically weren't old enough, and only that they needed to bring their earmuffs to every lesson. "You'd think at a school that handles magic, the professors would be more careful about subjecting their students to things that can put them in the hospital wing," besides, what would the parents of those students who had them say?
