Hailey Mckay was a woman who rarely smiled. She smiled even less since the death of her husband, not that anyone noticed. As a recent widow, Hailey was still in mourning and when it came to her Granddaughter's Graduation, she concluded that dark clothing would be her friend. However, as Hailey never wore black, the traditional colours of her family were Grey, it was for this reason that she was wearing a grey suit to one of her granddaughters graduations. She was not terribly thrilled about this arrangement, but there was very little that she could do. She had to at least be able to be seen publicly supporting her blood, even if she did shun the stupid girl behind closed doors. She supposed she should have put her foot down from the start, but then the girl was not Isla, Isla was her heir. She cared very little about the rest of the children. She did love them, that was true enough, she just happened to love Isla more. She had no doubt that soon Isla would be expecting a baby and when that happened, Hailey would be more the overjoyed. She had few great grandchildren that she got too see. Not that she really cared all that much for her current grandchildren, the filthy product of her mentally ill grandchildren defiling themselves with muggles, muggleborns and altogether houses less then worthy of a Mckay heir.
Turning to see that her heir and favourite was by her side, Hailey turned her attention to the stage. She cared very little for Kialla or her siblings and so being surrounded by a bunch of them in this moment was less then appealing. Soon the ceremony, or whatever they wished to call this started and Hailey found herself both annoyed and downright appalled at the quality of either of the speeches. The girl's was short, unrehearsed and downright disrespectful to the establishment. Whilst Hailey held no love of these halls, she was glad that she had raised her family better then the sloppy thing currently residing over the students. It had a few good points, but overall Hailey wanted to leave her seat and smack some sense into the girl, because clearly, she had not been taught the proper etiquette. Benjamin Chase was next and Hailey found herself scrutinizing the young friend of her granddaughters with an interested eye. For one, she had absolutely no idea about what he was like away from her home and two, he looked relatively decent so she had hoped that he would be more interesting. However she had been sorely mistaken. Regardless of the fact that she was sure he had been taught the appropriate way to address a crowd and speak, he seemed to either not care to use it, or was just being a dunce. Starting with a joke such as that and then breaking into colloquialisms. She was now extremely glad Kialla had not made headgirl, she would have killed Kialla for embarrassing the family like that, bad enough as two wayward children were, three was even worse. Never-the-less as Kialla walked across the stage to receive her certificates of graduation, Hailey gave a few short claps. After all, the girl had survived the school relatively unscathed, so she must have done something right.
