Forbidden Forest Protest

Jean had briefly considered the implications of being involved in a protest near the forest, but it hasn't been enough to keep him from his friends. Now, with the professors standing in front of them, Jean was reconsidering that opinion. He had a lot more to lose than some of the others. "Sh-" he cursed as he realized that he and the others were in big trouble with Styx there. They might have been able to convince the others, but Styx was known as a stubborn guy.

Orwell snuggled down into Archie as he seemed to fall asleep him, he kissed the top of the other boy's head as he looked into the fire, it was a nice little feeling, they had their placards and the flag, everything was just a little bit perfect for him and he was so pleased he had gone ahead with it. The teen instantly noticed the professor's arriving at the protest, he could see the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor first and he instantly put out the fires to then be joined by the charms professor and then by Jon who seemed to follow Styx's sentiment, the teen slowly removed himself from Archie and stood up, he held his arms up and looked between the professors, "We're not moving," he told him, "Professor Styx what rules are we breaking exactly," he moved to stand a little between where the professor's stood and where the students were sat, "We are exercising our right to protest, we are peacefully protesting, you had plenty of time to shut this down before it happened and you didn't, so we're staying," the boy stood his ground, he knew that he wasn't going to win this, but he felt like he could at the very least fight a little. He didn't want everyone to get into trouble but they didn't have to stay.

Emma's was suddenly filled with that of her uncle, and she felt like she shrank to six inches all. She murmured, "Oh no." They were all in trouble, and then the leader felt like opening his mouth, especially toward Styx. Emma's face paled, since she knew what he was going to do. Emma dropped all the flowers she held, and stood up from her spot. She walked over to where her brother was, before casting him a worried look. Her first year here and she was already going to be in trouble. But she thought that this would have been fun. Her bravery was nonexistent when Styx came into play. She figured that they would have been caught but by anyone but him.

Kalif figured that the leader of this whole thing was going to test his patience, and that was exactly what he was doing. Sometimes, Kalif wished that Orwell was in his house so that he could actually have fun with his punishments. But no, he had the kind-hearted Spenser. For now, he flat out ignored the leader, as he said, "Ravenclaws should go with Professor Phillips to see their Head of House, and Gryffindors should follow Professor Haden to their Head of House. Lydia, you'll have to come with me to the Headmistress, seeing as you don't have." Kalif then narrowed his eyes upon Orwell Brocken, and stepped forward before he stood very close to him. Within arm's reach. He said, warnings lacing around his voice to tell the kid to shut up before he got into worse trouble, "Don't test my patience tonight. You know perfectly well what rules you are breaking. This isn't a game where protests are a way to do what you want without consequence, nor will it change the rules the school has in place. Now, not only have you landed yourself in a world of trouble, but led your friends as well. Another word, and I'll escort you to the headmistress."

Orwell glanced around at the other students who were around him and then back at the professors, his gaze was mostly fixed on Styx as he informed people to go with either of the professors to be taken to the head of houses and Orwell just shook his head at him, he knew that he couldn't force any of the students to stay and he wouldn't force them too, but Orwell was going to stand his ground no matter how foolish it is. He didn't cower away from the taller man when he approached him in what he assumed to be in a threatening manner and then with his tone, Orwell just narrowed his eyes slightly at the man and then turned to the students, "If you want to leave and go with Professor Phillips or Haden then do, I won't force you to stay," he told them all his voice never wavering in confidence but allowing them the option to stay and stand their ground or to leave with the professors and likely get into less trouble, once this was said he turned back to Professor Styx, "I'm staying," Orwell said defiantly not once moving his gaze away from Professor Styx.

Archie's sleep had been undisturbed when Orwell moved away from him and even when the professors had spoken. It was surprising considering Archie had conditioned himself to be unable to sleep without Orwell nearby, but it showed the toll that planning this protest had taken on him and how tired he truly was. He had slept sound until the point where Orwell addressed the group and said they could leave if they wanted to, which had forced him to open his eyes and reacquaint his mind with his surroundings. He sat up and yawned, glancing around the group and realising that the worst had happened; they had been caught by professors and Orwell had taken a stand he wasn't going to back down from. Archie instinctively and without a second thought stood up and walked over to Orwell, standing by his side to support him like any best friend should. "I'm staying too." He said, moving to grab Orwell's hand and intertwine their fingers. He wasn't entirely sure how he was supposed to handle confronting the professors but he was sure that he'd have Orwell's back no matter what.

Theo couldn't help but smile at her response, it was always good to be able to speak in his native language and he was definitely finding it better to talk to her, her excitement and joy in the tone seemed to sing as she spoke in French. He couldn't help but just smile at her and feel pretty happy he had decided to speak in French, although it was a little sad that no one visited them, Tholomyes had spent time in a board school before this one, and definitely felt the difference between himself and the others when it came to certain aspects of school life but none more so than the idea of an empty home, when he'd gone home there had always been visitors it was usually the holidays which always seemed to explain why. As she placed the crown on his head he smiled at her, moving his head from side to side to show it off to her, he went to answer her questions but found he had to wait, normally Theo would find the constant talking annoying, but he liked it with her, "I have two sisters and a brother, my older sister goes to school here and my older brother goes to school in England and my other sister is the youngest and doesn't go to school yet," he told her, just as it appeared that the professors had arrived, the Ravenclaw boy looked between the three professors a little wary about what was to happen next. He looked at Emma who seemed to cower under the gaze of the oldest man. He got to his feet and joined with the others standing as tall as he could although he was scared, he didn't particularly want to get into trouble but the boy realised that it had been obvious that they would be caught. He watched as the leader and the leader's friend, or something both stood up to the man and declared that they were saying, he respected that, but didn't feel he was quite able to make the same declaration, he seemed however rooted to the spot standing a little away from Emma and her brother.

Lydia had sat mostly enjoying the warmth of the fire as the night had progressed, she stood up from where she'd sat and wandered over to where there had been freshly planted flowers and plants, she had been about to plant a few more that were sitting beside it, when the voice of a professor broke the hum of noise. She looked round and then wandered back to the group. She felt afraid of what might happen and really didn't like the idea of having to face the headmistress. It was so frustrating that they lacked a head of house, so annoying that she would have to follow him to the headmistresses office. She got the impression however with the way Orwell was acting that she might not be the only one to be take to the headmistresses and was feeling more than a little relieved by this fact. However, she didn't know yet what she should do, and opted to stand in silence, barely hiding the fact that her hands were shaking over what was to come, she'd never gotten in trouble before.

Jean was at a loss of what to do after Orwell and then Archie had banded together against the professors. He had no idea what they could actually accomplish, but he had immense respect for the two standing against the professors. As his sister arrived by his side, Jean was struck by the complete stupidity he'd shown all night. Not only had he, a prefect, joined in on this protest but he also hadn't even thought to send his sister away. It hadn't even crossed the boy's mind. What had was that Orwell and Archie were his friends and he wanted to support them in this. It wasn't like they were doing anything bad really. Sure, it was past curfew but there had been flyers everywhere and it wasn't like they were trying to hide or run. Jean could see the indecision on several of the other faces around him, and he gave his sister a look that was meant to reassure her as best he could without talking. Jean crossed his arms, not taking a step towards the professors but also not moving away from his friends. He glanced over to Professor Haden, the man charged with escorting the largest group, the Gryffindors, away. Professor Kingsley was going to be pissed at him more than the others, no doubt. He was the eldest in the group and should have known better.

Kalif was not surprised when Orwell decided to stand up to him, but if he weren't at the school, he would have done away with the boy. However, that was not the case right now. He watched as another one approached and said that he was staying too. Rolling his eyes, one could not deny that there was a glimmer of amusement within those stormy eyes. He instead, said very coolly, "So be it. If you won't move from your own free will, consider it revoked." He walked around the two of them, before grabbing each by their collars with his hands. Considering his strength, this was not very difficult for him. He looked over his shoulder to see Lydia, before motioning for her to come with, since she didn't have a head of house (at the time). He looked to the other two, "I trust you can lead them back. If any have trouble leaving, I'll be back." Kalif started to walk toward the school once more, his grip not letting up on the two fourth years he was currently carrying, or dragging. Either way, they were not going to break free. No one was staying near the forbidden forest, especially after curfew. He didn't think they were stupid enough to go for it, but wow, they proved him wrong.

Misha wasn't sure what to expect from these students they had blatantly disregarded the rules of the school, almost flaunting it in the face of the staff that it was happening, likely to get this rise out of them, because Misha could only wonder about if it would be an event less spoken off if it had just continued peacefully, or if it would be remember because the staff had responded with points lost and punishment to likely the leaders. If he remembered correctly, the leader, who seemed to have some death wish stood with some hidden bravery directly in front of Professor Styx unwilling to back down, which Misha could almost respect if it wasn't pretty foolish. He looked at Jon who told the students to pack up, and the students just seemed to stand still, unsure what to really do it seemed, a different boy, a gryffindor, seemed to take flank position next to the leader and take his hand, Misha knew that Kalif was probably going to take both, which made Misha's job easier. He watched as both stood their ground and then were dragged away by the professor which Misha thought was a little excessive, he was sure he could hear the leader calling the professor out on brutality and they were both squirming trying to get loose. He looked at the other students, and with a small flick of his wand the site packed itself up, "This stuff will be left in the wild patch club part of the garden which you'll be able to pick up later during the day," he told them, "Now, if you want to follow your leaders to the headmistresses office, you should say now before myself or Professor Phillips take you to your respective head of houses," Misha told the group, rather than standing off with the head of slytherin house he wanted to at least give the students the option to decide who decided their fate.

Lydia couldn't believe this was happening, and she couldn't help but feel so nervous, and annoyed at her lack of head of house, she knew no matter what happened she would have to follow Professor Styx to the headmistresses office where she could only assume she was about to get into a whole mound of trouble for this. She didn't think she regretted it, she felt like it was important to not just accept things willingly and perhaps Orwell was right to question it and fight against it, but she didn't know how secure she felt in their message now that she didn't have a choice and had to follow behind the professor dragging the two boys towards the head mistresses room, she wanted to help them, but Lydia felt definitely like doing that would just land her in even more trouble. The teen glanced back at the group still with the other two professors almost longingly, wishing she'd had a head of house to give her into trouble for this, rather than Professor Styx or the headmistress who might be a lot harsher, she wished that more of them would be going to headmistresses office, so they'd be going as a club rather than being split up, but of course this wasn't about to happen.

Jean watched Styx drag his friends away and hoped he would see them again. Professor Styx hadn't looked happy and there was no way of knowing how much worse he would end up making things for Orwell and Archie. As the attention turned back to them, Jean considered his options long and hard before sighing heavily and shaking his head. "Kingsley" he breathed, reaching for his little sister's hand. He'd have to protect her from trouble.
