With a bottle of wine and a pie stuffed into her enchanted bag, Cyndi knocked on her friend Monty's door. In conversation she'd mentioned the gathering to a few other people, but it wasn't as if she expected any of them to show up. This would just be a nice, quiet evening between the professors and their friend, Ava. Right?

It had been far too long since Ava had seen her friends. While she knew leaving the school was the best for her, she was jealous that the two of them saw so much of each other. Giving Cyndi a surprise hug from behind, Ava banged on the door. "HURRY UP MONTY! TWO COLD WOMEN OUTSIDE! OPEN UP!"

Cyndi jumped a mile high. "Merlin, you scared me!" she yelled, her voice joining the din Ava was making.

Given that Monty had several dozen spells at his complete disposal, he probably ought to have been able to cook a roast dinner for three. He'd cooked for Saveli all the time, but he hadn't really had to worry about impressing her with his culinary expertise, and didn't usually bother making everything from scratch, or adding fancy extras. He heard the knocking and yelling at the door and anxiously left everything where it was to answer it. "It's twenty-two degrees," he said in lieu of greeting, with a laugh. "Hello! Sorry - come in, come in. Lovely to see you. Are you both well? Er - feel free to go on through to the living room. Can I get you something to drink? Red, or white? Or I've soft drinks, if you'd prefer?"

"I didn't come here for soft drinks, Monty" the woman playfully scoffed by way of greeting. "Is that roast I smell? Yum!"

Ava laughed at Cyndi's comment. "I want red please!" She sang, before pretending to look disappointed. "Roast? Monty... you know I'm a vegetarian now right?"

Monty grinned, torn between staying to welcome his friends properly and running back to the kitchen to make sure nothing was on fire. "What?" he said, the colour draining from his face. "Really? Wh - when? God, I'm so sorry, I..." What was he meant to do?!

"Me too, Monts" Cyndi said, trying to keep a straight face.

Ava looked at Cyndi solemnly. "Maybe we should go find a vegetarian take away shop that will suit our needs..."

"Hang on, but just now you said..." Monty narrowed his eyes as the realisation dawned on him. "Neither of you are vegetarian, are you?"

Cyndi laughed heartily, unable to keep a straight face any longer. "Your face..." she laughed.

Ava cracked up, placing a hand on Monty's shoulder. "We're just teasing you. It smells delicious. Now, how about that wine?"

Monty shook his head, but even he couldn't help laughing. "Wine? Whatever makes you think you're still getting wine?" he asked. "Perhaps I'll see if there's any tap water to spare." He left them to settle down in the living room while he went to pour the drinks and check on the food.

SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG

Cyndi snorted as Monty left the room, reached into her bag and pulled out the bottle of wine she'd brought with her, using magic to uncork it. "Why wait for Monty?" she giggled before taking a long sip and then holding it out to Ava.

Ava gasped in shock horror at Monty's comment, before turning to Cyndi at her comment. She grinned at her friend. "This is why I love you." She giggled, taking the wine from Cyndi and helping herself to a long gulp. "How's school been this year?"

The food was pretty much already ruined, so Monty didn't spend much time fussing over it. He poured three glasses of wine and levitated them with him back to the living room, where he stopped in the doorway. "You could at least have used glasses," he said, laughing as he set down the drinks and fetched his friends two glasses from the sideboard. "Oh - dinner will be ready in about ten minutes, by the way... though I warn you now, it smells far better than it looks. There's still time to order that take-away..."

You guys can totally feel free to time hop if you want to at any point, hahaha!

Interrupted before she could answer, Cyndi laughed at Monty's reaction. "It tastes better this way. Try it!" she stated as she held the bottle out to the man. She nodded, glad food would be ready soon. She was going to need it.

Ava grinned as she took the glass from Monty, and laughed at Cyndi's comment. "So is school really that bad huh, drinking from the bottle?" Ava teased.
