Professor Misha Haden had been a bit surprised to be asked to help out, he didn't often, but he didn't mind it. Though of course he was feeling a little more tired than usual with the boys keeping him awake. It was nice though, they were adorable. He looked at the two students whose duel he was overseeing. "Let's keep this clean," he said, before inviting them to get started.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Eoghan was a little apprehensive about the dueling, but he believed he was ready. His first opponent? A Slytherin. The twin that Felix was dating, although Eoghan hadn't really gotten to know Esme either, so he had even less of an idea what to expect about Imogen. She shared a name with his own sister, but that was about as far as the correlation went. The Ravenclaw was unsure as to how he felt about the situation because he wasn't here to hurt anyone, but he did want to put what he'd learnt into practise. "Stupefy," he said clearly, the moment Professor Haden gave them the go ahead to begin. He wasn't giving Imogen the chance to get in there first when he'd prepared himself for this.

Imogen Styx-Cade was ready to duel. She loved being the center of attention and this was giving it to her. She eyed her opponent. She knew nothing about him. She bowed slightly, and then quickly cast a protego to prevent herself from being stunned. So, that was how this Ravenclaw was going to play it. She pursed her lips together and cast, "Everte Statum!"

Eoghan was quick to protect himself from Imogen's spell, firing out a shield spell of his own. He didn't know enough about this girl to know what her weaknesses were, so he would just have to try an array of spells. Picking out a jinx from their class, he shot back with the jelly-leg jinx in the hope of making her lose her balance.

Tori was moving between her friends duels today it seemed, and she grinned when she saw who Eoghan was paired with. She didn't know Imogen all that well, they did classes together but that was about it. Esme was a dear friend, but that wasn't going to stop her from cheering on her best friend. Instead of being loud like she had been with Jasper and that had nearly messed him up, she held her wand up she cast a small bluebell flame and held it in a candle in support.​

Ew, she would never want to lose her balance in front of an audience. She put up another shield, which was just in time before the spell would hit. If he wanted to focus on legs, she sent out a verbal Tarantallegra toward him.

Eoghan hadn't come this far in his eighteen months of training just to be ousted in his first match. He blocked Imogen's spell, before casting another "Stupefy," of his own. It was simple, but sometimes the simplest methods worked the best.

At least her new Protego spell managed to block the second Stupefy, which made her step back from the force. Imogen narrowed her eyes and intoned, "Depulso!"

Between blocking Imogen’s spell and sending out another of his own, Eoghan glanced down to the crowd to see Lilith watching him. A small smile appeared on his face before he focused once more. “Scourgify.” Perhaps not the best spell for a fight, but a spell nonetheless.

Ruth was trying not to look like she was rushing between duels to support her dormmates even if that was, in fact, exactly what she was doing. Green ribbons in hand, she waved them about as she watched Imogen duel, curious to see how she'd go and silently willing her to win.

Wait, what? She was so baffled when Eoghan sent out a cleaning spell, which hit her robes and effectively cleaned them of all the dust. She gave him a bewildered look. "Seriously? We are dueling, not trying to clean the dungeons." Imogen aimed her wand and sent out a Stupefy.

Eoghan chuckled when Imogen called him out on the spell of choice. He’d remembered what it was for, but she was clearly concentrating hard if she stopped herself from blocking it. He blocked the stunning spell sent back his way, before sending out another disarming charm of his own. “You admit it needs cleaning?” He’d not enjoyed being in the dungeons, it could use more than a few windows.

Imogen blocked the disarming spell, and opted to send out a Trip jinx after she retorted, "Yeah? It is dusty and grimy and gross. Imagine sleeping down here."

Eoghan nodded, agreeing with her that the dungeons were awful. “I don’t know how you do it,” he replied, blocking her trip jinx. Even though he was trying to speak to the Slytherin he was making sure not to break focus too. “Expelliarmus,” Eoghan said, trying to disarm her.

Imogen managed to lose her focus by the conversation that they were having. Her wand soared out of her hand, which mean that she lost her wand. She stood there with her mouth in a little 'o'.

It did seem like sometimes trying to have a discussion was the downfall of most duellers, as it was for this girl. "Eoghan Blyth is the winner," he said.
 
Eoghan hadn't expected to win of all things by talking too much. As Imogen's wand flew out of her hand, it took him a second to realise that meant he'd won. After Professor Haden confirmed it, he shot a glance to his friends with a grin, before turning back to the Slytherin. Eoghan took a few steps closer, "It was a good duel," his hand was outstretched to her, because while he knew it was important to be polite when dueling, he could also appreciate that she'd gone a long time keeping up her defenses. ​
