Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.
OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
Oh, and the duel begins now. Also, if someone doesn't post after 24 hours, then they are disqualified.

rhiannon was looking forward to this duel. She had hoped to have it the first semester however she was lucky that both her and perseas had won their duels and were thus against each other. It would be an interesting battle. They both know each other well and this both that advantage. However she would imagine they had different technighes. She was more a strategic fighter. Where as she could I again perseas was going to try and confuse her. She entered the chamber where the match was being held and smiled at the referee "good morning professor styx" she greeted him putting her bag down and getting ready to go whilst waiting for perseas to arrive. She was a little nervous. Though she tried not to let it show. Soon perseas was there and they were being walked through the rules. And shown to their ends on the stage. She took the North end the same end that she had been on when she had won against willow. She just hoped perseas would not be as infuriating as the girl. She was pretty sure as much as he liked tormenting her his go wouldn't be able to cope with that girls technique. "good luck" she wished him before bowing to professor Styx and then perseas. "stupefy" she said as soon as the duel was started hopefully before he could get any defence up.

His lips drew back into a smirk when he saw on the leaderboard his name matched with that of Rhiannon McGowan. A reason why Perseas had been looking forward to the second semester was the resumption of the Dueling Tournament. He did a good job last semester when he was victorious at his first two matches. Now Perseas knew that his next opponents were going to be more of a challenge. Like him, they had already won against othes, proving their potential. Like he always did, he was studying his opponent before the duels and he had watched both of Rhiannon's duels. Someone could underestimate her, and probably her two previous opponents did and lost, but he wasn't going to make this mistake. She was highly strategic but also methodical and maybe the cracks of her defenses could be found there. He revised and practiced all the spells that had helped him get to the next round and looked forward to have this duel with a good friend.

Next morning he had a light but energizing breakfast. Dueling while stuffed was a bad thing and he was going to be mindful even for these tiny, little details. After all, details were making the champion. He arrived at the Dueling Chamber to see that his opponent was already there, greeting Professor Styx who was going to be monitoring their duel. He approached her with his half smile already on his face. "Stop being a backscratcher." he broke in as he stopped next to her to leave his own bag. "Styx is not going to be touched by your kindness." he mocked her for her habit of always greeting politely all their professors, both at the start and the end of classes. Then he left for the south end to warm up with a few streches and drew his wand. He flicked it several times to hear the whistle of the thin wood cutting the air. He moved closer to the center of the arena for the custom bows.

"Good luck to you too." he wished her while bowing his head but retaining eye contact with her. He moved back to his end of the arena and pointed his wand at her, waiting for her first spell. Always letting his opponent cast the first spell.
"Protego!" he shouted to summon the protective force field in front of him as the red flash of her stunning spell zoomed dangerously close. The flash of a bat-bogey hex traveled across the dueling arena as he sent it right towards her.

rhiannon rolled her eyes as perseas commented on her greeting the professor. "good morning to you too perseas. it's not backscratching. It is called manners" she quipped in return.
As the duel started she watched her spell fly close to the boy she thought she was going kt make the first hit however he cast ten shield the nick of time and it missed. She readied her wand for a defence and was glad to see a bat bogies jinx flying at her. She "protago she said deflecting the spell before she cast her next spell. The jelly brain jinx she watched it fly towards her opponent. Feeling glad she actually had an opponent who would cast more than just protago.

Her shield charm must have been more powerful than his own one as it didn't just blocked his bat-bogey hex but instead deflected it back at him. She was also quick enough to cast another jinx and the two jets of light formed a menacing projectile, cutting through the air like a silver arrow. "Protego!" he cast in time but her jinxes punched through the protective, blue force field and smacked him on the chest. Perseas was knocked back by the impact and landed hard on the ground. He remained there, still holding his wand but with the most lost expression on his face, looking down on the ground with glazed eyes. Then, he looked up horrified and put both hands on his nose. It looked like he was desperately trying to smother a sneeze but black bats flew out of his noise. The chamber filled with screeching and flapping sounds as more shadowy forms soared out of his nose to assembly a flock of aggressive bats that dove down on him to attack. Snapping slightly out of his mental sluggishness, he used his arms to protect his face and head.

Rhiannon watched her spell jutting perseas. which was a little surprising as she could have swarn that she had heard him put up a shield, she muct have found the hole in it. she smiled slightly by his slightly dazed expression until she realised that it actually looked like he was about to sneee, and sneexse he did causing a swarm of bat-like bogies to fly out of his nose and attack him. she wasnt quite sure how that spell had ended up hitting him but it as quite funney to watch. that mush have been rather bad luck by perseas. she raised her wand, feeling a little bad for casting another spell on hom when he was jellybrained, but knowing that that was te point of the duel and the tactic behind the previous spell. "Petrificus Totalus" she said casting the body bind curse on er best friend. aiming to render him imobile and prevent him for casting spells thus letting her win the duel. though she didn't quite want it to end yet.

His conscious had turned into an intricate maze from which he was struggling to get out. He knew he had to do something and protect himself as the bats were clawing his arms but he couldn't clearly think of what he had to do. As he was thrashing about in the dark cloud of bats, a jet of light missed him for inches and he realized that the creatures weren't the only attacker. For an instance, a clear thought crossed his mind. He was going to stun the bats but the very next moment he couldn't focus on his initial plan and instead another incantation slipped out of his mouth. His banishing spell expanded out of his wand's tip like a gust of air that drove the unfriendly flock of bats away from him and straight to his opponent.

it was rather humorous to see him trying to fight off the bogies. and somehow managed to inintentially dodge the spell he was sending to her. she was a little surprised when he cast a spell and sent them flying towards her. not quite sure how to stop it she raised her wand and they came attacking her Impedimen" however they had reched her before she could get the end of the spell out. "ew Perseas. your bogies are attacking me. That is really unsanitary and immature" she said. swatting them out of her face like flies. "preficious totalus" she said castingthe body bind curse towards Perseas before flicking the boogers away again.

Perseas watched as the bugging cloud of bogeys swooped on Rhiannon. He just stood there like a dimwitted ghoul slurping his drool while trying to mentaly release himself. His sanity was there but it was blocked by an unidentified barrier in his mind. He started laughing hysterically, snorting like a pig at what Rhiannon said. For some reason it sounded funny. The sight of her trying to get rid of the bogeys was hilarious for an unexplained reason. He tried to focus on why he was finding this so funny when it wasn't really and then he broke free from the suppression of the mental barrier. Logic spread like electrocution across his brain, just in time to see another jet of light closing his way. "Protego!" he shouted and the shield charm absorbed the curse with a loud thud. Her strategy was great; distort his mental process and then take him out. Fortunately it didn't work. Now that she was busy with those bogies it was his time to shine. "Conjunctivitus" he swiftly cast his next curse.

the blasted bogies were really starting to annoy rhiannon. one almost flew into her mouth. it was annoying. unfortunatly she missed perseas casting his next attacking spell and thus was hit in the face by this spell she blinked a couple of time and realised what it was. all she could see was darkness and light, she could see a blobby outline of perseas and professor styx but that was about it. this would be an interesting duel. one participant couldn't think straight, the other couldn't see properly and was being attacked by bogies which now as she couldn't see them were annoying her even more. "Finete" she said causing each of the bugs to stop mid air beforeone by one they started to drop each making a small clatter as it hit the floor like dried peas. the spell also caused her eyes to clear up again. the problem was that it could possibly also lift he felly brain jinx on perseas. professor styx had better keep an eye out for misguided spells. "Silencio" she said aiming for perseas. her theory was if he couldn't speak he wouldn't be able to cast any spells meaning that the duel may, just may be hers to win.

His Conjunctivitis Curse hit the target but Rhiannon reacted quickly and cast a couple of counter spells both on her eyes and the pesty bogeys which poured down on the arena like a rain of peas. "Aww, why would you do that? They were adorable." he smirked and waited for her next move now that he had missed the chance to jinx her while she was unable to see. "Serpensortia!" he shouted and scale-covered coils shot out of the end of his wand. Her Silencing Charm hit the snake before it landed heavy on the floor in front of her feet. "Oh, you have company." he commented with a devious grin. The viper he had just summoned flicked its tongue but no hiss was heard. It didn't matter as long as it could terrorize Rhiannon with its presence. Another great strategic plan from his friend but it didn't work while he was quick on the draw. The effect of her jelly-brain charm was long gone. The slit-shaped pupils locked on the girl and the viper raised its stocky build to strike.

rhiannon was glad to be able to see again. his comment to her managing to vanish the bogies made her snort. "they couldnt be that cute, you got rid of them quickly enough, or maybe they are cuter from a distance" she said. missing the incantation of the next spell. but she cirtainly didnt miss the effects. a giant serbent came out of the end of te wand and landed before her. so long it was clearly a viper and looked like it was ready to attack. she she wasnt a huge fan of snakes, but she generally wasn't scared of them. that was the job of jellyfish. But when one was poised to attack her things were different, though she tried to keep a level head. Two things she could do came to mind and with a flick of her wand it was gone in its place was a slightly surprised looking rabbit who after a few moments of surprise at its new surroundings hopped off and HUD under the stage.
it seemed perseas had the same idea as willow that she would dislike snakes, did she really come accross as that kind of girl. Though she had to admit perseas had, like always taken things further than necessary. "stupify" she said thinking the first jinx that came into her head, getting payback on perseas

Perseas watched aghast as Rhiannon used a charm to switch his viper with a rabbit, possibly from the Forbidden Forest. "Protego!" he said and smiled as the shield charm blocked her stunning spell. "Wow." he exclaimed and clapped his hands a few times. "I must say. This was pretty smart." he admitted with a mischievous glint in his intelligent, grey eyes. Perseas knew his opponent better than any other he had faced before and he was prepared. He had studied several strategies to make Rhiannon's time on the arena a little bit more difficult. However, what was about to follow wasn't plan. It was on the spot reaction. "You know what? I really want to meet the new friend you brought here. Accio rabbit!" he flicked his wand and the rabbit was dragged from underneath the arena and soared into his arms. "You're a cute little bunny!" he talked to it and his fingers brushed its soft fur. "This is Rhiannon. She's a bad person cause she wants to hex us." he said and his lips pulled up in a devilish smirk. Perseas was never intending to hurt a living creature. His move was perfect or he thought it was. Rhiannon hated everything unorthodox that wasn't following closely the rules and this was certainly something out of the ordinary. Plus, she loved animals as much as he did. She would have a hard time deciding whether to cast another jinx on him, with the animal caught in the crossfire. Mind games that he was hoping they were going to work to his advantage. Perseas had his wand on the ready in case she was going to jinx him or attempt to switch the rabbit with something else. He wasn't going to allow that.

As perseas summoned the rabbit from under the stage rhiannon frowned at her opponent. and looked at the professor not sure if she should say anything. about perseas breaking the rules. she tried not to but she couldnt hold it in. "professor, the rabit wan't on the stage" she said looking back at perseas. "the rabbit seemed to realise that it was not comfortable being held, after all it was a wild being after all. and it started scratching and trying to escape "apparenntly the friendship isnt muteral, wild rabbits don't really like cuddles, and i can still hex you even if you are holding a rabbit hudini hostage"[/b[ she said. an idea coming to mind, an icea that sh ehad to surpress as it would be too mean and cruel even for a duel instead she raised her wand towards perseas "Petrificus Totalus" she said aiming for perseas hoping he was too desstracted by hudini the rabbit to see it coming. there was no rhyme or reason as to why she picked that spell, it just seemed like a good choice at the time.

Perseas shook his head when Rhiannon addressed the professor. "It was when you turned it into a rabbit. It's just hid when it realized you're on the arena as well." he mocked and let the rabbit go. He couldn't risk it. With Rhiannon taking seriously this duel, she was capable of hexing him while holding it and he didn't want it to get hurt. He had succeeded at least to slow down the flow of the duel and think of his next move. He was prepared for her next spell so he thrust his wand in the air and focused on his next shield charm. "Protego!" he shouted as the transparent, blue shield flashed before him. The jet of light of her Full Body-Bind Curse bounced against the protective force field and whistled as it zoomed back to her with even greater momentum.

Rhiannon saw perseas put the rabbit down. so that it would not get hurt. despite his rebelious prankster attitude, he was really a lot more softhearted than most people thought. though she didnt have much time to think on it as her own bodybind spell came flying back to her. she should see if she could practivce making shields like that that rebounded the spell, she didnt have time to cast the shielld, instead she ducked and felt it sizzle over the top of her head. and hit the wall behind her leaving a scorch mark. she looked down the runway and saw the rabbit was still standing on it. watching the lights as if frozen in car headlights. she pointed her wand at it and undid the last spell she had cast. and where the pile of fluff had been was now once again a snake, a rather scared confused snake at that eyeing perseas in a way only a snake could eye you.

Perseas exclaimed in disappointment and pursed his lips as the deflected spell missed Rhiannon for inches. It's power must have been amplified as well. That was what suggesting the scorch mark left on the wall behind her. He waited to see her next move, planning to deflect the next spell as well. He had practiced a lot with his shield charms to be able to do that most of the time. Perseas noticed that Rhiannon's attention was pinned on the rabbit standing right at the center of the arena. He glanced at it as well and realized what she was going to do. "I knew you liked better the company I brought." he smirked as the rabbit acquired serpentine features. "Depulso!" he swept his wand to cast a banishing charm at the glaring snake. The snake soared into the air and was propelled like a rope towards Rhiannon.

Perseas snorted when Rhiannon slowed down the flying snake. He let his guard down and it cost him. The scarlet flash of light cast from her wand, connected with his hand and forced his wand out of it. He was also blasted off his feet, that was how strong was her Disarming Charm. However, his eyes followed the course of his wand and when he landed on the arena, he immediately stood up and dashed at the spot where his wand was lying. He dove and slid the last few meters away from his wand and grabbed it in time before she was able to cast another spell. "Stupefy!" he said and a red jet of light rocketed out of his wand's tip.

Rhiannon was happy to see her spell hitting perseas. and his wand fly out of his hand, she went to try and grab it to win, that was the spell had won her last duel for her too. but perseas was too fast and managed to get to it first. she heard him cast a spell and quickly waved her own wand "protago" she said and was glad her shield was strong enough to send the spell back. the duel had been going for a while, and despite being a little sleep deprived she was buzzing on adrenalin and her competitive spirit was taking over making her not stop until she won. seriously perseas would be unsuferable if he beat her at the duel. "Petrificus Totalus" she said, ti was getting too close and she wanted to get the duel done and beat perseas, or at worst case even draw, could you draw in a duel? probaby not unless they went over time.

Perseas pointed his wand by reflex action. "Protego!" he yelled with his opponent's body binding curse inches away from his chest. The transparent shield expanded with a blue flash and repelled the curse. The collision of her offensive with his defensive spell was so great that while still on his foot, he slid a couple of meters backwards. "Stupefy!" he said and the blue force field dissolved to let the scarlet jet of light fly straight towards Rhiannon.

rhiannon thought she may have gotten away with it and been quick enough to take perseas by suprise. however she felt the wave of energy that came form the shield as it colided with the spell. she must have done a good job as perseas stumbled backwards a cuple of steps. she was ready for his counter attack and as she knew it was going to come she raised her wand. "same as last time? running out of ideas. protago" she said concentrating on making a strong shield. she didn't want to be hit. she felt the strong fire of the spell as it hit then with another wave she sent another spell at him "Confundo. The truth was that Perseas was worn off but he didn't want to let his opponent see this. He clenched his wand as she succeeded once more to block the stunner. Her spells were slightly more powerful but he was more agile and quicker to counter back. "Nope. I just have that great idea of seeing you unconscious, lying on the floor." he smirked and welcomed her next spell with a Hex-Deflection. He felt the wrist of his wand hand bending under the pressure of her spell and a warm draft slammed his cheeks. Perseas had to bury his face in his free arm to protect his eyes and his wand aimed at the ceiling, sending the deflected spell skywards. The jet of light swatted the chandelier which was hanging above the arena. Crystal clanged warningly as it swung and then the hanger loop broke. Gravity pulled it down and it crashed on the middle of the arena with a heavy sound that echoed in the chamber. Crystal shards were sprayed at every direction and Perseas took a step back as some of them reached his feet. "This mixed things up a little bit. Petrificus Totalus!" he grasped the opportunity of this turmoil and casted a body-binding curse that whooshed across the arena.

Rhiannon was starting to feel exhausted. like a wave of it crashing over her, it was like she had just run out of juice, a combination of a lack of sleep due to stressing to get work done and a lack of food as she had worked through her lunch time. she watched as pereas easily deflected her spell. watching it fl up to the ceaing and hit the chandelier. it swing precociously before hitting the middle of the stage. "you are meant to bring me down not the decor." she said rolling her eyes. "seriously perse, i may be bright but not chanderlear bright she joked. almost mssing the next spell flying towards her. "she realised at the last minute, not sure if she should just let it hit her, finish the duel and go and catch up on her copious amounts of study that was building up. however at the last minute her pride took over and she waved her wand casting yet another shield it seemed as this was was still growing as the spell hit it bounced back towards its caster and rhiannon hoped it hit her.</B>

Perseas smirked at her attempt to joke. It was weird to hear her trying and he would have responded with a good dose of sarcasm but he was dedicated to win this duel. Losing focus again was going to cost him and she had caught him already enough times off guard. His smirk grew wider when Rhiannon figured out how to make the shield charm actually bounce spells off it. He waited for the deflected body binding curse to get close enough to him and flicked it right on time. "Engorgio!" he said and pointed a big chunk of crystal resting before his foot. It rapidly grew in size and just in a split of a second, it reached the size of a boulder. The deflected spell landed on the smooth surface of the gigantic crystal protecting him and rocketed back to Rhiannon. "Depulso!" he wasted no time and casted a banishing charm on the bulky crystal as well which slid towards her way. If the rebounded body-binding curse wasn't going to hit her, the oversized crystal was definitely going to knock her off the arena and grant him the victory.
