Edward had never supervised an underage dueling tournament before and he was interested to see how this tournament would play out. With his wand at the ready, he signaled for the next two opponents to step forward and take their positions. He addressed both sixth years with firm encouragement. “Welcome to your first duel of the tournament. I expect to see good sportsmanship from both of you. When I give the signal, you will bow to one another and begin. Wands at the ready.” He looked between both of them before nodding. “You may begin.”

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Last year, Hinata had also gone up against Santiago, and while she won, it had also been a fairly embarrassing fight. She told herself that she was going to do better this year. When the professor gave the signal after they had bowed to one another, Hina threw a spell, “Langlock”

Santiago wasn't thrilled about facing off against Hinata again but he didn't want to let it show. With wand in hand he stepped up to the duelling platform, bowing halfheartedly before things really got started. The Hufflepuff managed to fire off a spell first but he was ready with a shield charm just in time before keeping it simply with a stunning spell. "Stupefy!"

Hina didn't know who was glaring at her from the stands, but she could definitely feel someone glaring. She could bet it was one of the Slytherins. Busybodies all three of them. It was hard to not be annoyed even as she kept her composure in defending against her opponent with a quick Protego. As used as she was to duelling the menaces, it was starting to feel instinctive to cast more violent spells. "Confringo!"

Santiago was a little surprised when Hinata decided to try and blow him up but he was ready for it and was able to cast a shield charm in time, even if he could feel the air shift with it's impact. He was willing to turn up the heat a bit too as he cast his next spell. "Incendio!"

Hinata hadn't bothered with shielding and instead cast the Extinguishing Spell before the fire could even reach her, quickly following up, "Incarcerous!"

Santiago kept his cool as his spell was thwarted and was ready with a shield charm as ropes came at him fast. They fell at his feet uselessly before he fired off his next spell. "Obscuro!"

Hinata was regretting all life decisions with duelling. Of all the luck to be paired with Santiago. Horror was going to kill her. She blocked the spell with a shield and cast the Disarming Charm right back.
