Confined to Seperate Sides

Alois chest tightened when he heard those words, he cannot contain the pain and hurt by then, no matter how hard he denied it, it still was in there, bugging him, and it seemed like it wouldn't leave any soon either. Sometimes he just wished that he won't have to feel such thing, yet he knew that that was really impossible. Having emotions is a sign of being human, it's just the person's choice to hide what it is that he feels or not. And at the moment, he wanted so bad to hide his emotions, though it was hurting him inside. He didn't want to appear weak, being emotional is something that he didn't particularly like. Being in the dark and silent dungeon wasn't helping him either, it just makes the emotions more apparent, sadder and lonelier than before. "I don't want to feel this way Adalyn, it's frustrating." He said voice void of any emotion though deep inside, there was a turmoil of feelings which he cannot even sort out what, he didn't like it at all, luckily though, it was just Adalyn that was able to see what he was feeling now.

He continued to look at her even if she had averted her eyes when he asked his question, he wanted to see whether she'll answer him truthfully or not, and though it might be hard, probably by looking into her eyes, he'll have a chance to. "I don't understand a thing .." He said, eyebrows raised in confusion, she just blurted out random words, and he was too disoriented to piece them all together. "You don't have to answer if you don't like, I don't want to force you into doing it, but I'll be pleased if you did answer my question..."

Adalyn watched Alois as he spoke, he didn't display any affection in his voice or face. But she knew by his words that he had plenty of emotions running through him at the moment. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him telling him without words that she was there for him. Adalyn looked up at him and leaned towards him kissing his cheeks like her brother always did whenever he found her crying when they were younger. Somehow it comforting to her when she was younger and now she hoped it would help him somehow. "Then don't just forget her even if it's just when your here with me, just put your mind on something else," she whisphered to him.

Sighing she pushed back her hair, it was tough to explain what she meant without using words that would be taken completely in the wrong way from what she meant. Her hand was paused in pushing back her hair, placed on her head holding her bangs back on her head. "Alois, it's just...there's something about you...and it must be like you and that girl...except you haven't got someone to choose over me but yet...you don't...I'm not......" Adalyn's voice faded off as she looked into his eyes she didn't have anything else to say. Letting her hand fall to her lap her hair fell down covering half of her face as it always did.

Alois knew that he was being weak. Too weak in fact that he is in need of anyone, anyone at all to support him, he just didn't expect that it would be adalyn, the person that he had just met earlier, someone that he had argued with, but nevertheless, he's happy with that, he doesn't feel so alone now, unlike before when he do have lots of people surrounding him but somehow, there was still this empty space that's not reaching him at all. Yet, just that simple hug from her had meant a lot to him, even that kiss on the cheek was something that tells him that he's not going to be alone anymore. "It would be hard." He muttered in a voice that is barely audible to hear, he made no move to pull back from th hug, he didn't know what had happened but, he was breaking down in front of her, something that he hadn't done before. "Sorry for being emotional, it shouldn't be this way." He added, he didn't want to cry, he didn't want to appear weaker than he was now. It should have been the other way around, it should have been him protecting her, making her see that she was not alone and that there was someone there for her, but currently, it was the other way around. He's the one that was being cared for.

Alois reached out to brush some of Adalyn's hair of her face, he still didn't get what she meant, but there's something that tells him that even she was a bit confused about it. "Honestly Adalyn, I'm still confused with your statement, but don't mind it, don't push yourself too hard." He said, smiling at her now, a genuine smile that shows that he cared and that he appreciates having her around.

Adalyn sighed as he still seemed confused with his feelings. He couldn't let go like she could, he needed to do something that would make him feel free, like run or fly on a broom something to get himself going and just forget. She picked up her notebook from his hands and looked over the page her voice begining to sing the lyrics though they didn't fit it was all she could do.
"Just tonight I will stay
And we’ll throw it all away
When the light hits your eyes
It’s telling me I’m right
And if I, I am through
And it’s all because of you
Just Tonight...Just Tonight."

Adalyn shook her head at him, he shouldn't be ashamed of being emotional, it was apart of every person. Everyone just expresses themshelves differently. "It makes you Human Alois," she told him as she pulled back from the hug she had given him. Her eyes were adverted from him when he pushed her hair back, she wanted to shake her head to make it fall back but then his motion would have been for nothing. Closing her eyes she sighed once more it was difficult to explain what she was trying to tell him but then again it didn't seem like there would ever be a point to anything she said, everything came out in song for her. It was dificult for to speak to people, especially ones closer to her age, she never knew what to say and they would judge more quickly then others. "It's to much..." she whisphered to herself she knew he would ask about it but she wasn't paying much attention to his thoughts right then, more concerned now with what was going on in her own brain.

Alois listened as Adalyn started to sing, it was the exact same song that she had sung earlier, but he honestly didn't mind it. It had actually helped to at least fill out the silence between them and the emotions that were being too much for both of them to take. "But it makes me appear weak too..." He said, running a hand though his hair once again before he dropped his hands to the side. He was only supposed to accompany Adalyn as she do her homework as well as the lyrics for her song, yet, as it seemed, he had just told her everything that was bothering him, he had just told him the things that he wouldn't dare to tell others. "I'm tired of acting this way, I want to change." He added, smiling once more as he watched Adalyn. There was probably a lot of things going on in her mind right now, things that he wouldn't probably understand.

Sighing to himself, he put his head between his knees and frowned into them. How could the world be so peaceful when they weren't? He needed to solve his problem fast, or else he wouldn't be able to concentrate and it would be a problem during class. He wanted to say something to comfort her, and no, it's not going to be that cliche follow your heart words that most people say, that would be too illogical, a heart dictates no feelings whatsoever. The cerebrum of the brain usually decides on those. "I'll be here if you needed me Adalyn." He whispered, it's true, he'll be there for her the same way that she's there for him to.

Adalyn pursed her lips at his reply, he was to much of a guy. One who didn't want other to see this side of him, but that was the point of music, to display the feelings people could connect too but didn't want to display for the world. "I would die for you, my love, my love, I would lie for you, my love, love, (you make me want to die)," she sung out to him she was sure that's how he felt for the other girl at that moment. He'd do anything to be with her, but she didn't want him. Yet Adalyn offered herself to him and he shot her down not wanting to use her. She couldn't tell him that she'd just be using him as well, it wouldn't seem right. "Then change. Be here and now, not there and then. I'm here Alois, just focus on me and you'll forget, but you have to really want too," she said picking his head up under his chin making him look up at her. Her free hand brushed his hair back from her face, they were truely two different sides of the same coin right there.

A faint smile appeared on her face as he told her he'd be there for her, of course he didn't understand her predicament. This was one reason why she never hung around students her own age, they were too easy to fall for and hard to get over. Older guys came and went it was as simple as having a celebrity crush when it came to them. "Alois, how can you be there, if you are the problem," she laughed out. Now hopefully things would piece together for him, but if they didn't she wasn't sure if there was a way to explain things that didn't end up in her kissing him again, which he hadn't wanted in the first place and most likely wouldn't want again. A kiss wouldn't help her move on either, she needed to find a substitute for him now, or rather something to do, maybe she would clean her half of the dorm room later as her roommate had been asking her to do so for awhile. Of course if he kissed her then it would be a completely different story but she didn't think or hope it would happen now.

Alois closed his eyes as he heard Adalyn sing once more. Those lyrics had so much of an impact to him, but he wouldn't dare to say it out loud. It's quite ironic really, how music seemed to communicate what it was that some people cannot freely put into words. How some songs tell the whole story of a person's life. "Is there someone like that for you too Adalyn? Someone that had ever make you feel this way?" He asked, his voice soft and slow as he opened his eyes to look at her, see if how she'll react to his questions, or if possible, see those emotions that would be written on her face. Alois was pretty much an open book, he wears his heart on his sleeves, but Adalyn was much more different, she was just.... he can't quite complete what it was about her that makes her so different from him. "It's hard to forget when you see the same face everyday..." Truthfully, he really didn't understand Adalyn, girls were supposed to be more emotional and more perceptive with their 'sensitivity' side than boys.Which doesn't explain Adalyn at all, he thought unhappily. Seeing as how girls were more 'in touch with their sensitivity', then emotion is should be played more often. Her actions didn't particularly make all that much sense either. A girl's mind certainly is complicated, especially if you're not a girl yourself.

He frowned a little as he heard her next statement. Adalyn was just too illogical for him. The cons of being illogical were that it just didn't make sense, it just didn't…fit right. He blinked. Was that the only thing that he had? The pros of being illogical were that she still saved him, and she talks to him, and she, at the very least, interacts with him. He smiled as he kept thinking. Being illogical means that he can still talk to her, still try to understand her. He can be near her and help her, that is, if he just understood what it was that she was saying.

He crossed his arms and blew at a strand of hair as she laughed, still thinking hard about what it was that she said. "I am the problem?" He repeated, being as clueless as he was which might be a little frustrating. Being clueless doesn't really suit him. He was supposed to be rational, the one who uses logic in most of his ways,And when logic fails, what the heck is he supposed to do?

Adalyn shook her head to him, she forget faces everyday, usually if someone asked who she had just talked too she wouldn't even be able to put a face to the voice. But that was just her, she didn't care about the person's looks. What matters is how they made her feel when she talked to them, not even what the words that were said. Now she felt like explaining this idea to him. "Alois, you doesn't matter what people say to you. Because people don't remember words, they remember how it made them feel. On your last parting with her, when you knew she was going to go off and find the other guy, how did she make you feel?" She asked him, Adalyn never liked playing the part of the doctor or Mommy when she and her siblings were younger, but now here she was playing the part for Alois.

Laying down on the ground next to where she was sitting like she had done before when they were outside, this time her feet next to his own feet however; she sighed into the air trying to figure out a way to explain. "Yes." she managed, trying to not to make him wait so long for an answer that was resonable. "This girl, isn't what you need right now, maybe as a friend but not as an interest, she just seems to be a burden to your feelings. And so I offered myself to you to help you get over her, but it wasn't going to be just you using me, I need it too. There isn't any feeling in my life now, I feel void of it and I was reaching out to you but you pushed me away. Do you understand why I shut the window on you?" Adalyn stated to him her eyes closing not wanting to look at him and see his emotions anymore. A full speech came out when she just wanted to use a few simple words to get it overwith pain free, but that wasn't happening now.

Alois tried to think about Adalyn's statement. What it was that he felt when Adrie told him about Jack? He's quite unsure. There's just too much emotions that had played by then, disappointment, anger, sadness...every negative feelings it seemed. "She made me feel...forgotten? I, don't know." He stated, quite finding it hard to put his thoughts into words. Now if only he's like Adalyn who would sing whenever she can't say anything else, then probably he would have done so too. If he could just find a way at which he can communicate his thoughts properly without being misunderstood, he'd be really grateful then.

Alois felt like he was being counseled, now if he was just by his mother's side, he would have someone to talk to about his thoughts, well, if his cousin wasn't there by then. His mom was understanding and she doesn't hesitate to tell him what's wrong with him, which is pretty much like Adalyn. "I don't want to remember such thing.." He muttered, thinking about the row that him and Adrie had had on the hall, all he would want to remember now was that happy moments that they shared before she had told him about that truth. By then, he didn't really realized what was wrong with him, why he had reacted in such a way, but as time passed by, he did realized that maybe, he had really fallen for her, and that was bad, both for their friendship as well as for him.

He watched Adalyn as she laid down on the ground, he knew that she must be thinking deeply for her to do such thing, she'd done that before after all. "I'm not pushing you away, not now. ." He stated, moving a bit to see her face clearly. Her eyes were closed, so he can't quite figure out what it was that she was feeling when she said those words. "I will just hurt you if I accepted your offer, I don't want it to be that way, I want it to be that, when I'm no longer feeling like this, then I'll help you out to get those feelings back." He added, he knew that it would be difficult to let go once he had accepted Adalyn's offer. "And you might be able to help me forget, but it would just be my advantage, I don't want you to feel like I'm just using you, you're way too important to be used that way, you're a special person Adalyn, that's why I don't want you to get hurt"

Adalyn thought about what he told her she knew the feeling, but she was sure it was a different meaning. Everytime she was shipped off to here she had always wondered if her parents missed her, or if her friends did. But neither seemed to be impaired without her there, which dissappointed her. "Hmm.." Adalyn didn't have a reponse, she couldn't very well connect with him on that level. Though she had been used before and especially misused she never really found herself in Alois's position. Running a hand through her hair she wondered how they became so close. She hadn't wanted him in her life at all and yet he seemed to get himself in it with minimal effort.

Adalyn could feel that Alois moved closer to her without her opening her eyes. She had this personal aura around her and it was always distrubing when someone entered it and she didn't see it coming. A flinch was all that was shown on her outside though and those were always hard to catch unless he was staring directly at her and happened not to blink in that same moment. "Alois. Breathe. You wouldn't be using me! If anything I'd be using you for my own selfish reasons," she said her eyes opening but they were squinted to keep the torch's light from entering as much as it wanted to. Now if anything she wanted to push him away again, leave him in the dark dungeon as she had done to so many guys before him. They all came down with her for one reason, something that she wouldn't ever give up, no matter how much it looked like she would. But Alois was different and it was throwing her off balance and she didn't know what to do with him or herself anymore. Adalyn felt the need to either slap him or kiss me, show him some emotion but instead she stayed where she was dead still, as if afraid of moving. Her face was almost blank but there was a slight pain behind her eyes that she wouldn't ever be able to find out, for it was always there no matter how happy she tried to be.

Alois saw Adalyn flinched when he moved himself closer to her, it was something that was barely visible, yet he had noticed it, he was looking at her intently to have missed that small movement. He didn't know what was really going on with the girl's mind, he still can't quite get her. No matter how close they might have been after talking for just a few hourse, she was still and enigma. Just as he thought that he was already completing the puzzle that was her, he had find out that there were still those missing pieces, and he needed to find those out if he had ever wanted to solve the said puzzle before him.

He didn't know what to do when he heard her statement, he's confused now. A part of him wanted to say yes and accept her offer, yet, the better part of his conscience was stopping him in doing so, they'll just both hurt each other. Sighing, he placed his hand on either side of her face, making him look at her, trying to figure out what it was that she was thinking, or whether she was really serious about the proposition. Her face was void of any emotion, and it pained him to see such thing. Yet, in her eyes, he could see pain, something that is probably not noticeable if you didn't really try to understand where she's going from. He's determined to get rid of that pain, yet he didn't know how. He wanted to make her feel that she was needed, that she was important and that she needs not to say that she was an emotionless doll, yet, how could he do it when he himself was in such a wreck? Sighing as he let go of her head, Alois decided to go into the same position as she is, lying just next to her, one hand on top of his head as if to cover his eyes from something bright that wasn't even there. "I don't get you, and I don't get myself either." He said in frustration. Now he knew that they might look really silly by lying on the cold ground of the dungeon, yet he didn't care, the setting around them was probably fitting to the emotions that they were feeling.

Adalyn let out of breath as she felt Alois's hands on her face. She didn't know why he did it but she wasn't planning on opening her eyes completely anytime soon. Emotions coming from him were to much for her to handle right then. She never had to really deal with people's emotions before but then again she never dealt with her own either. Reaching up she put her own hands over his for however long it was he kept them there, staring back at him her face serious. As he layed down next to her she turned to that side to look at him, his arm going up and blocking any view she had of his face, which was good considering she didn't want to deal more with his mixed up emotions, he needed to do that himself. "Everyone is confused about everything, you're no different," she said back to him her hand reaching out and pausing on his arm that was covering his face. Now it seemed he wanted to be in the complete darkness again, and truth betold she always found it completely scary, never knowing what was there unless you already knew.

Alois peeked under his arm to see what it was that Adalyn was currently doing, if she was still there in her previous position where he had left her, or if she had stood up and left him lying there. Luckily though, she stayed. That thing he was assured of when he felt her hand reach out to him. Her touch gripped him back to reality like the freezing pull of the ocean waves; the feel of her warm skin and the constant flow of her breathe keeps him tied down to the ground – she feels nothing short of life, very much human no matter how she had said that she was void of any emotions. It's quite ironic though, for even if she herself had seemed to be tied down into darkness, she's the one that was trying to help him out, like some sort of light that was guiding him out of the wreck where he was in at the moment. "Will pain make me complete?" He muttered in French, knowing that she might not be able to understand him anyways.

Removing his hand from his face, he finally fixed his eyes on her, giving her a long penetrating stare that could have shaken the very tower of any woman's being, but not her, that thing he was sure of. "I could love her so much that it'd kill me… Yet, she would not feel it, or return it as much as I have.", Alois said sadly, giving off a melancholic smile as he turned his face away from her again. It is hard to let go, but it seemed like that was the only option that he had, it's better to do such thing then, Adalyn was right, Adrie had her own life to live, and he had his own too. Maybe he was not a major character on Adrie's story, and though as painful as it was, that thing he should really accept. "But, I had decided to try to let go from now on, it's much better this way." He added, this time smiling more genuinely.

He laughed to himself suddenly, wild and free as he looked at her again. Adalyn had helped him so much, even if she herself was not aware of it and he's going to help her too. He didn't want to brought pain and suffering to those eyes. If I could make you smile…, he thought. Unconsciously, his hand moved to intertwine with hers, A blink, and strangely enough, a small quirk of his lips had passed his features, "I might have said this a lot of times before but, Thank you." He said, determined to show his gratitude to her. Even if he have to do everything in his power – maybe even embarrass himself a million times – he'd do it. To see her smile once more and to make her see that her life is worth living.

Adalyn watched Alois as he slowly came back to this world, from his thoughts. He muttered in french and she wondered what it was that he said. She could see his eyes peeking out from under his hand and she looked back wondering what he was going to say next. Then came his stare which she stared right back at, it was penetrating but she was used to getting every kind of look from people. It had to do with the girl, but he seemed to be getting over her which was good. "Unrequited love, it customary for song writing you know...back a long time ago, traveling musicians would travel town from town and sing about unrequited love because it's something everyone can connect too at somepoint," she whisphered to him. It was a sad feeling, she knew. Adalyn gave him a light smile; she was glad he could say out loud that the girl wasn't good for him and he was moving on.

Adalyn was suprised when his hand connected with hers and he locked his fingers with hers. "You're....welcome," she replied back to him her mind suprised by his touch. It seemed now he was completely back to the world of disapointment and moving on and that meant he was capable of suprising her instead of the other way around. She rolled away from him, back onto her back and stared up at the dark ceiling. Adalyn could feel his hand surrounding hers, and now it seemed he was completely surrounding her which made her feel closterphobic. She wasn't even sure if he knew he did it, but it seemed innocent enough to her that he held her hand. Something inside of her believed he was just comforting himself still but she wished it was really because he wanted to always have her there. Unrequited love, it sucked for both of them. But atleast she just had a cursh on him and it wasn't going to hurt as much as the girl had done to Alois when she left him.

If I could make you smile, Alois thought as he watched Adalyn's reaction to everything that he had said. He knew it was a wishful thought, a romantic stray – in more ways than one – and a fantasy that he knew would probably be hard to come true. Even as he laid there, he could not help but feel a great wave of longing lingering in his chest. It might be hard for him to make her smile, especially if he himself was trying to find his way back to having that genuine smile once again, yet, a small quirk of her lips caught his attention, and a spark of hope fluttered in his heart, she was smiling, and it was the start. What can I do to make you smile?" He muttered, more to himself than to her, however, that smile of dropped a little when he heard about unrequited love, that was probably what was going on with his life now, yet, he knew that he should stop dwelling on that, he promised to respect Adrie choice, and he'll do it, it would be very selfish of him if he kept holding on, when there's nothing really that would tie her up with him. "Unrequited love, one sided, it's a really sad feeling, and it is hard to get out once you have fallen in the depths of it." He whispered back, knowing that if he hadn't met her, then he would probably be still wallowing in self-pity and regrets, though he still was, it wasn't the same as before then.

Alois wondered what had surprised Adalyn so much that she had rolled herself away from him, that was when he had realized that he had his hand on her hand. It was something that he had unconsciously done it seemed. "… Sorry," he apologized, feeling oddly guilty all of a sudden, he didn't know whether he had quite offended her after all.

Adalyn felt bad for him, sure, but she glad he could move on after being convinced serveral times. She thought it was going to take more to make him see the light, atleast more then laying on the ground in the dark damp dirty dungeon. "Why? Why do you want me to smile. This is a very serious event that is occuring. You're moving on we mustn't ruin this with my smile," she said with a harsh laugh. Adalyn's heart burst at his statement, she wanted to wrap her arms around him like he was some lost kid she found at the market. That feeling wasn't making her feel any bit happier, she didn't like feeling things for people, it was easier to not feel.

Adalyn felt bad that she had made him feel like he had done something wrong. "It was unexcepted, sorry," she told him not wanting him to feel bad. She squeezed his hand with hers and turned back to face him already moving past her suprise. Her eyes moved over his face trying to decode what he was feeling now, relief/happiness/sadness, whatever it was he seemed to more of a mistery now that he wasn't obsessing over the girl.

"I'm serious Adalyn, I want to make you smile, now." Alois said, frowning as he heard her laugh, was she thinking that he wasn't taking her seriously at all,? If she is, then he'll prove her right. He might have his own problems, but he was slowly getting out of it, and he knew that Adalyn had her own problems too, and despite that, she made out of her way to help him, so in return, he'll help her as well. Not because he was forced into doing so, not just because he had wanted to show his gratitude, but rather, because he had chosen to do it. "It can't be that I'm the only one being helped right now, I want to make you smile, not the ones that I have seen recently, but rather, a true genuine smile...I might have to embarrass myself a thousand times just to have you do it, but I don't mind." He added, his face serious yet calming at the same time. Own feelings of resentment and sadness had seemed to be drowned and forgotten at the moment, Adalyn had that effect it seemed, that is, if she wasn't the one bringing out the topic about him and Adrie, cause when was talking about his unrequited love, it's quite bothering.

Alois shook his head when Adalyn apologized, she need not to do that after all. He knew that he must have been confusing her with his current actions, yet he himself was confused as well, he was trying to forget his problems, and focused at the task at hand, that was, to help her now. A smile escape his lips as he looked at her eyes which were now fixed into his. He had no idea what she was thinking about, yet, she herself seemed to be wondering the same thing as well.

Adalyn pulled her head back at his tone. He was being too serious right then for her joke. She sighed closing her eyes, shutting the world out for a moment. It wouldn't last, it never did, the quiet peace of being in the dark; Alois would say something that would pull her back into the world forcing her to open her eyes back up again. "I don't want it...not your help," she said knowing that he must have seen the secret in her eyes, she usually kept hidden very well. The world she lived in was where she went through the day mechanically, everything laid out infront of her and nothing would go wrong as long as she didn't wake from her path. Now Alois was trying to make her see the light in her own stupidity, but it was something she knew was there and avoided everyday. "I won't smile, not in the way you want me too. Even if you slipped on a banana and I laughed, or if you complimented me to the point of us both wearing red on the face, even if...you kiss me," she told him moving her arm to cover her eyes like he had done before. Now i was her time to hide from everything, but she didn't want to come back out like he did.

Staring back into Alois's eyes her breaths were becoming deeper as if a sense of calm was spreading over them. His hand was still locked with hers and she wondered how many hands he had held before her own, it was another odd quirk of hers to wonder who had gotten their before her, even if she was just hugging a boy, she wondered how many girls before her he had hugged. Never did she question the boy but it was a very intriguing question. "I don't understand, how...you feel about me..You're confused about her I know, so you turn away..but then you kiss my head..push me away again..and now hold my hand. It's all alittle much," she said to him knowing he might not have an answer for her, or if he did weither or not she actually wanted to hear it.

It was Adalyn's turn to push him away now, to turn away from him, and it was his turn too to let her see the light that she had shown him before, it was his turn too to reach out for her, be it she like it, or not. Yet, it seemed that though he was trying to help her, she didn't want it at all. She was rejecting him once again, and truth to be told, it frustrates him. When she closed her eyes, Alois knew that she was shutting her self once again, away from the world, away from him. She wanted to isolate herself from the world, it was her choice, a choice that he should have respected but couldn't, cause even if he really had no say in her life, he was concerned. He didn't like her to continue living as she was now, living like a doll holding no emotion in it, just a pretty face going along the crowd, separated from the rest. "No." He said firmly, though he knew that this might cause her to be angry at him again. "I want to help, whether you would accept it or not, I'll do it." Like what he had thought about before, girls were more in touch with their sensitivity, Adalyn, however, doesn't fit that description. If anything, said girl seemed to be completely emotionless. The same stoic face every time, no matter what, but he wanted to change that.

Alois was on the verge of whacking his head on the ground repeatedly, he was getting that frustrated. "Drop that mask off Adalyn, not for me, but for yourself." He said, his eyes still locked to her even though she was already covering her eyes, he had wanted so much to just remove her hands away from her face, but he knew that that would just make matters worse. Adalyn seemed to be someone who sticks to her beliefs, and he knew that it would be hard to change her opinions, yet, he was determined to do it so.

He made no move to remove his hand in hers fearing that if he did so, she'll just bolt straight up and leave him out there in the dark, fearing that shell run away from him now. Adalyn's statement had actually caught him off guard, he didn't know that she was thinking about the said things, he didn't even realized that he was actually giving her troubles with his actions. "....sorry" Was all that he was able to say, he didn't know what it was that he felt at the moment anyways, he too was as confused as she was.

"No, no no no, is that all you can say. I refuse it, there isn't anything you an do for me now. I'm prefectly fine being the way I am. Wake up, Alois, not everything is about you," she said staring back at the ceiling instead of looking at him. Her hands were cold from the lack of movement and now her legs and arms were begining to get goosebumps. Alois was being pushy and that was one thing she didn't like about people. Things happened and people were they way they were there isn't a way to fix them. Suddenly she felt like letting out a scream, just to get all the tension inside of her out but she knew she couldn't and supressed the feeling.

Glancing at Alois from under her arm Adalyn looked to see how serious he was being. Swinging herself up like she had before she held herself above him staring down at him, a cold stare penitrating his own eyes. He wasn't trying to be harsh but his words were. Her thick blonde hair blocked most of the light that the one torch gave them and she could just barely make out his features but she was sure her blue eyes would stick out in the dark. Her brother always told her that they were her most defining features especially when she started to ring black makeup around them. "What...Mask?" She asked him harshly. Her words came out as ice, even though his hand surrounded her's wiht wamrth she wasn't going to except it.

Adalyn let out a breath moving her lips so it would blow against her bangs instead of hitting his face. "Don't be sorry," she said using his words from earlier in their encounter. A smirk was playing around her lips but she still didn't feel like changing her facial expression was worth it. "Can't you even explain how you feel about me?" She said to him her face leaning over him, Adalyn was having a hard time holding herself up with her hands when he was holding one but she didn't want to let go that was up to him. Instead she moved to rest herself using the elbow of the arm which they had locked hands. Still her face was above his as she stared down at him trying to figure out what was the matter with him now, he said he has moved past the girl yet he still acted confused.

Alois was taken back by Adalyn's statement. She was telling the truth though, and though he didn't really like to admit it, she was right. He can't interfere much in her life, it was her choice by then. But even so, a part of him still wants to push it further no matter what the consequences would be. Is the peace between them earlier only short-lived? "I know that not everything is about me, but I want to help you, I want to do it, it's my choice. And, didn't you said that you'll use me to get your emotions back?" He said as he still continued to look at her. Her eyes were not focused on him though, and it made it much harder for him to see what it was that she was thinking, or if she was actually telling what her real feelings are. He could still remember that pained look in her eyes, that no matter how much she tried to hide it, it's still there, never leaving, and he wanted it gone.

He made no move to remove himself from lying on the ground as Adalyn straightened up, her eyes were the only one that stands out in the dark, even her blonde hair pales in comparison to that striking blue eyes of hers. But those eyes that were supposed to be cheerful and calm as the ocean were as cold as ice now, even her voice sounded harsh as well. He offended her, that thing he was sure of. "Don't act like you don't care at all.... stop isolating yourself from the world." He said, his face and voice in contrast to her, while she seemed to be in rage, he was calm. He can't be annoyed now right? That won't do any of them good.

"I can't." Alois said straightforwardly, there's no need to beat around the bush, for all he knew, he can't really answer her question. He didn't get it though, he didn't get why he can't explain what his feelings were. He didn't understand himself at the moment. "How do you feel about me Adalyn?" He then asked out of curiosity, it had all been about his feelings all day, and now, he wonders what it was that she was actually feeling, she had said that he was her problem, and he didn't further elaborate on the earlier, but he figures that this would be the right time to ask, that is, if she'll even answer his question.

Adalyn shook her head at him, she wasn't happy with his answer and she wasn't going to accept it. "Oh Alois. I said no. Accept it and move on, jeez," she said to him. He didn't know, he knew nothing. Her and Maxxie were the only two that went to this school of her family. Her brother and sister were to young and her other brother, well he hadn't gotten the magical gene. Of course they weren't sure if the younger kids had magic as well, but her sister was displaying the same signs that she had when she was younger.

Staring down at his calm face didn't help her any bit. It wasn't going to make things better, she wouldn't ever tell him the reason to her pain, no one would know except her family. It was almost like a pact no one here knew. Her band mates suspected something was up but they had never really been to her house enough to know about her brother. "There isn't anything in the world I care about, except my music. I just don't care, Alois," she told him her honesty had always driven people away, and she ashamed of it, nothing could ever stop her mind from speaking the truth. It was another agreement in her family to always speak the truth, except for their dakr hidden secret.

Her head dropped at his answer, her hair hanging in his face but she was looking at his tie now. The dumb school made them wear the strangest of clothes, big red cloaks all year and then a typical boarding school outfit underneath. "You shouldn't be confused anymore. If you've given her up, then it's an easy yes or no answer to me. Do you like me or don't you?" She said to him, it wasn't really a question just something for him to think about, but he took everything as question. Adalyn looked back into his eyes at his question. There wasn't a real way to answer his question without knowing his answer first, she was completely awful at making the first move, her actions earlier seemed to prove that. And yet again she couldn't help herself but to kiss him. This time it was a corner of the mouth kiss, something more innocent and sweet, her stomach was tightening which made her nervous she felt the same fear as before that he would push her away. Pulling back she noticed a tear had fallen from her eye and landed on him and she couldn't react, she was a statue waiting for the questioning.

Alois frowned, why was it that when he wanted to do something, he was always told to move on? Why was it that when he wanted something so badly and others would think that it was really impossible for him to have, people would always tell him to move one? Can't he do anything that he wanted by exerting much effort without anyone discouraging him or something? "Can't you give me a chance? Even once." He said gazing at the young woman before him silently, trying to figure out an answer. He knew nothing about her of course, but that's precisely why he wanted to know her more, to make her smile if he must.

He didn't know what to make out of Adalyn's next statement, she just didn't care did she? How can someone be like that and not care at all? When she was talking to him earlier, when she was trying to help him out, did it meant nothing to her but some sort of way to keep him from annoying her? Was it not care and concern back then? He can hardly believe that it was possible for a person to be so apathetic about her surrounding, to not care at all, for in one way or another, a person is bound to be tied to another, their path crossing because of some string of fate, and in one way or another, a person is bound to care for another, be it something that was just too small to be noticeable, be it something that cannot be really considered at caring at all. "Of course you cared Adalyn...it's hard not to."

Adalyn's hair had obscured all view for Alois, all he could see now was her face, though her eyes weren't fixed on him, making it quite hard for him to actually decipher what it was that she was thinking. Hearing her question, he didn't what to say, he was uncertain about the said question, and tried as he much to conjure up a plausible explanation for her sake, he can't. It was something that wasn't meant to be answer at the moment by then, it was something that would probably keep him up all night again, thinking about it. Alois, unaware that he had been thinking about her statement intently, gasped quietly as he felt a her lips on his, what was it that had made her to do that so? Faced with this new situation, and his cheek still tingling from her light peck, all he could ever do was to stare at her. This one wasn't like the one before, this one was more innocent, and if he was correct to assume, it has more emotions to it as well. He can't really push away now, he didn't want to offend her, to make her feel like he was rejecting her once again. Just as he was about to say something, he saw a tear falling from her eye, it was something that he didn't really expect at all. And just looking at her by now pained him, was he the reason of that tear? Holding up his hand, he slowly wiped the tear that she had shed away, she was warm, making her looked so alive than what she was appearing to be.

Adalyn stared down at him her face questioning him, she didn't understand what he meant by his question. She said no and yet he was going to prester her more and more about it. There wasn't any real thing he could do, prehaps steal her mind away while he was around but it was when she was alone she was afraid, the memories that came back to her made her not want to care. For caring would show her emotions to the world, and she didn't need comfort she needed a way out, that was what she wanted Alois for, in the begining. She shook her head at him not bothering to open up and say anything to him.

"At one point, sure I did. But now...now nothing matters," she said not going into details. She couldn't after all, everything was dark and mysterious about her and her family. Everything was crazy in her life and she wondered if anything was going to calm down now. Most likely not, though but not caring things were easier for her. It gave Adalyn a place to go to, a sort of retreat for her mind when she was around people. It was in the quiet darkness, when she was alone at night that her emotions came out and her roommates often complained of screaming coming from her, but she was afraid. They just didn't know why, and the nurses said there wasn't anything they could do about it because she would claim she didn't know she screamed or what she dreamed about, which was half true. All her dreams had to do with him, but it was a choice she made not to remember them, ever.

Adalyn stared down at Alois as he moved and wiped the line of water the tear left on her face. Their other hands were still intertwined but her hand was loose from shock. She hadn't excepted herself to cry, but all her thoughts were focused on were slight images, ones that haunted her dreams and thoughts everday. Being left alone, the dark night, her brother the non-magical one, who was her twin. A strange cloaked figure. And then there was Alois. Looking back up to Alois, she saw the light that she had put back into his eyes, he could be happy now if only there was the chance for her. She let herself slip down so she was over him using her elbows for support and brushed the tear of hers that had fallen down on him away. Her hand gently traced the outline of his jaw her eyes following it. Her thumb and index finger paused at his chin and she looked back up to his eyes, full of question, pain, hurt, hunger, love; those emotions floated through her as she looked down at him. Adalyn was begining to feel the sensation of caring again and it was scaring her now. "That was dumb I know, you don't...." she said lightly wanting to add more but those words didn't fit. She wanted to add something of how he didn't care for her in that way but she didn't want him to get defensive and just add more confusion into the mix.

Adalyn fought the urge to pull away, it wasn't going to do any good now. He would chase even though he didn't have too and she would give in, even though she didn't want too. "Alois?...What is love?" She asked her eyes darting around her face, she was almost embarrased by the question she couldn't fully look into his eyes. When she finally did she found his darker blue eyes, they were less striking then hers, but her dark makeup really helped her own to stand out more anyways. Adalyn now found herself staring into his eyes, they were darker but more full of life and good emotions then she could imagine her own holding. Whenever she looked into the mirror she always noticed how cold and distant hers seemed, that must have been something that Alois wanted to fix, bring her back to the world of the living. But half of her was already missing, nothing could hold her down anymore, she was gone. He just hadn't realized that yet, but he didn't know either so there wasn't any possibility that he could know there wasn't a hope for her.

OOCOut of Character: Hmm
Well that was fun. Post inspired by Emzies, :)

Adalyn wasn't making anything easier, she was pushing him away, though he wasn't sure whether she was aware of that or not. It seemed to him that she was bottling everything inside, refusing to let anyone in. It would have been better if she had screamed at him, yelled, not hat silence or that distant feeling that she was giving of. He wanted to understand her, to see who she really was, and annoying as it was, he'll do it. He was annoyed that she wouldn't let him in, yet he was also concerned at the same time, that was evident in his eyes. He didn't want her to stay as she was now, be it that she'll be angry at him or not, he didn't give a are, all he ever wanted at the moment was to tell her what his thoughts were.

Adalyn's life is shrouded with mystery, there were just too many things about her that one couldn't completely understand. She's really different. At one time, she'll be approachable and she even showed some concern for him back then, yet, at the moment, she was blank, dispassionate, distant. What had happened to her that had caused her to be that way? What was it that had made it so, she'll be that emotionless doll that she was, one that wouldn't are about anything at all. What was it that had robbed her of her feelings? of being human? "Don't bother coming to the darkness that you don't need to see... I don't want to show you the darkness that doesn't belong to you...Don't let yourself be hurt so much anymore... Rather, let me be your strength."

Alois knew nothing about what it was that he really felt for her, but one thing was for sure, it wasn't pity. No, he knew that it just wasn't right to pity someone, it's probably the worst feeling that one could ever feel, being pitied. That's why he didn't like it at all, he cannot bring himself to feel pity for her, it would just bring her down, and of course, he wouldn't like that at all. He wanted to show her the light that she had just shown him, though he also knew that it was a harder task for him to do so. Adalyn had had this set of walls around her already, walls that he needed to break down if he wanted to reach out to her. But as he had thought that he had he had gotten though one of her barriers, more and more would still come, and it frustrates him so much. He felt her hand tracing through his jaw line, and if they weren't in the situation that they were in, or if she was somebody else, he would have pushed away by now, but he didn't. Looking at her eyes, he had gotten lost. There was just too many emotions floating there, emotions that even him could not understand. He would have retorted back and tell her that he cared, but at some point, he knew that that would no do him any good, he doubt that she'll even believe him in any way.

What is love? That question had actually taken him back, not because he hadn't expect her to ask such thing, but rather, it was because he hadn't really thought about that question. Love had always been there, he need not to define what it was, cause for all he knew, a lot had already tried to do such thing, but hadn't succeed in doing so. He figured that the definition of it was something that depends on one person to another. "Love is the greatest mystery that one cannot really explain Adalyn, it can give you the happiest feeling, yet, it can also give you the greatest pain that you would ever feel. If you love someone, tha person could make you sad, that person could even make you feel lonely sometimes. But that someone can also make you happier than you'll ever be...." He said, a twinge of uncertainty in his tone, but he still tried to conjure up a sound and logical explanation for her sake.
