Cameron Kingsley flicked his wand at the banner to hang itself in the Harbour. The career fair had been a success over the past couple of years, and since it was his last year as Minister, he wanted to see it in action first hand. It also didn’t hurt that it was a distraction away from the issues he currently had in his personal life. His team had been preparing for weeks, and Cameron expected a large crowd. He nodded his head, signaling the start of the event. He moved to the Ministry table in case anyone wished to speak to him.

OOCOut of Character:

Welcome to the career fair! Remember, this is happening between Y30 and Y31. If you have any IOC questions, pm me or another member of site staff. Any IC questions can be directed to Cameron. Have fun!!

Between working as a Magizoologist in the evening and picking up a part time position for a few weeks at Flourish and Blotts, Aion had also managed to land himself a place at the Careers Fair in a bid to show upcoming students and those who would soon be graduating, what was involved with his role and how it had changed his life. He hadn't always known what he'd wanted to do, but now that he could travel as he wanted, visiting new places around the world and combining this with his reading and research about various animals, he couldn't have been more proud of himself.

He'd set up a small stall down one of the sides of the fair. Large pictures hung on the board behind him, show casing the few places he had already visited since his graduation just over a year ago. He hadn't been to that many places admittedly, but he was passionate about what he did and if he could inspire younger students to do the same then that's what he would do. In the table he had a variety of books and leaflets that he would be able to talk about and hand out, but the things that were of most interest were the creatures he'd managed to bring in, that sat in small cages around him. Of course, not all of them were real, the small fire breathing Antipodean Opaleye that was proceeding to cast its flame around the place was simply a toy, but there were other creatures such as a pair of bowtruckles that sat together playing a game amongst themselves, that he'd managed to bribe into joining him for a few days.

It didn't matter to Olive that she'd only been at Hogwarts for one year. She was there to teach Potions and that was a subject she'd very much been attached to for almost ten. It had been a large part of her upbringing and something she'd done her best to pass on to her younger sister, although time would tell just how much she'd managed to pick up from the sessions they'd had together. Setting up her stall, Olive had decided to make the most of the time, and would be preparing a simple potions there and then throughout the day, where she would therefore be able to take away something productive by the end of the fair, while allowing herself time to interact with the students about the benefits of becoming a Professor.

With her new self stirring cauldron set in the centre of a table, Olive was smiling at some of the students as they passed. Even though she taught the older years, it would be good for her too to get to know those she'd be teaching at a later day, and besides, with Leda only in her third year she knew how to behave around them. Dropping a few crushed ingredients into her cauldron, she watched as it began to smoke, trying to remember whether that was normal.

This was the third time that Geo had attended the careers fair, but as of yet she'd yet to find an actual Auror to speak to. It would have been nice to know someone before she joined in a few years time, and the reminder that she would soon be entering the years that would make or break her future was nerve wracking at the best of times. While she had heard that James wanted to be an Auror too, it seemed as though first he wanted to try his hand more at Quidditch, not that she could blame him. He'd been an excellent seeker for Gryffindor and his talents would have been wasted if he didn't pursue them for a while longer before moving on to another career.

Wandering around the stalls and hoping she wasn't about to bump into anyone from the party that would question where she'd disappeared off to, she kept her head low, her blonde hair more or less hanging in front of her face as she searched for anyone that had any glimmer that they might be able to point her in the right direction.

It was probably a dumb idea for Isaac to have even come here. He didn't know what he was doing and just being in the same area as so many other people was making his skin crawl. It was events like these that he'd managed to avoid for the last few years, and as he wandered through the stalls he became increasingly aware as to why. Feeling out of place, and doing his best to ignore the strange things people put out on their table to try and entice anyone with ears into believing their topic was the best thing since sliced bread, Isaac was much more interested in finding someone who had a job that they believed brought benefits, even if they weren't particularly known for it. He didn't know what he was looking for and the Ravenclaw kept his hands firmly shoved in his pockets as he tried to navigate through the crowds, bending like a contortionist every now and again to avoid having to touch the no doubt sweaty bodies of the people beside him. So far being at the careers fair had been pointless, and he was no closer at all to figuring out what he wanted to do with his life after Hogwarts.

The first thing Leda saw when she'd turned up to the fair, was the flaming red hair of her elder sister. Turning on the spot and heading completely in the other direction, the Slytherin would be more than happy if she didn't have to run into her whilst she was here. She'd had enough of her cheerful regard to potions to last a lifetime, and while it wasn't the worst subject in the world, she didn't need a retelling of how she came to be. No, there were much more interesting things to be found. Leda wanted something fun, something exciting, and her eyes scanned the room as she tried to find a stall that would match her preferences. Of course the best thing in the world would have been if Leda and her best friend Mervyn could have started up their own business to help people. Maybe they could track people down using their heightened set of skills, or maybe they could run their own park that would raise money for all the schools around the world and not just the one that the Headmistress wouldn't approve of. Not many people were quite as confident as she was about making their own dreams work, but with her head held high, the third year was hopeful that someone somewhere would share her passions for doing the right thing.

A brand new year was exactly what Elio had been promised. Even though he didn't have a clue about all this magic and stuff, it didn't mean that he wasn't going to pick up everything he could. "Hi," He said to the first man he saw, putting out his hand to shake his before abandoning the stall just as quickly. Within a few minutes he'd managed to shake the hands of almost all the members of staff that were participating, and deciding to take a second lap he approached the man again, much more out of breath this time round. "What are you?" He asked, glancing up and down at the weird bugs he had in the cages. Two green long things looked as though they could basically walk straight out of theirs if they wanted to, however on closer inspection it looked as though they were doing something with a tiny deck of cards. "Are these ingredients?" he asked the man, thinking the Bowtruckles looked a bit like the sticks that he'd seen in the picture of his potions textbook.

Nadia had never thought to attend a career fair. It wasn't really something she'd ever thought about. Once she'd heard about it, she'd decided to put her name down only because it would be interesting to see who would be there. She wasn't usually so free that she could skip whole days, but it didn't seem like this was going to be too much of a hassle and with the debates currently raging on, there wasn't much work that couldn't wait. She was sure the team could help to cover her in her absence and her editor hadn't seen a problem with her attending either. Nadia had known from a young age that she wanted to be a journalist and that was exactly what she had been doing for nearly fifteen years. Of course she'd started out as an intern as everyone had, but you have to start somewhere. Moving up to bigger and better stories was something that Nadia had enjoyed immensely.

With her to the fair, Nadia had brought along a couple of the last few copies of the Daily Prophet. She hoped that it would inspire students to venture into a journalist career and provide some insight into what she did. She'd also brought with her a breakdown of the sections of the newspaper and what each section did. It wasn't always exciting, but there was always something to do and you gained so many valuable skills in this line of work that would come in handy in so many other fields. Nadia couldn't wait to share her world with other people and she hoped they would enjoy it just as much as she did.

Leda had been wandering through the event for a few minutes before she laid her eyes on something that was worthy of her attention. "Do you make newspapers?" she asked the brunette, looking up and wondering how long it took to put together something so big and important for everyone to read. Leda didn't exactly know how to write, but she wasn't against getting the truth out there, and besides, with a story came a name and the Slytherin wanted to make sure she was remembered as much as possible by those around her for making the world a better place for everyone. "There's so many words though. And the newspaper comes out every day. How do you write it all in time?" She asked. She liked to think that she was smart, but the teen wasn't used to a number of concepts brought in from the muggle world and hadn't actually bothered to read a newspaper before in her life. That didn't stop her wanting to get her own stories out there though, and she peered up at the woman with great admiration.

Something about the career fair had really spoken to Amy. She could easily remember being young and not knowing what she wanted to do with her life. Probably because this had been the state or her life up until last year. Even now that she was settled in a job, she still sometimes felt unsure, but she did really love what she was doing. She hoped she could inspire others as well. She didn't necessarily want anyone to do the exact same thing she was, as that would definitely hurt her business, but she did feel like she could be an example to some kids at least. There had to be others like her, who didn't feel like they were right for many of the jobs that were available. Maybe she could at least show them there were more options out there than they might think.

She had set up her table to be bright and eye-catching. Mainly, she had stalled out some different products her store sold. If nothing else, it might inspire a few students to visit Gambol and Jape's. She had tied a few of her no-explode balloons to her table as well. Hopefully, this would draw people's attention. With a bright smile, she watched as some students started milling about. She had no idea of her niece would come to this but she hoped so. April was starting to get older, and would soon need to figure out at least vaguely what she wanted to do after graduation.

Victoire had decided that she was now at the point of her knowledge where she could start to give back. She loved her job but she had high hopes. She wanted to do more, be more active with the ultimate goal of being minister. She just felt too young this time around. However, this was not what she needed to be thinking about now, the woman was set on correctly informing anyone interested about what she did for the ministry, the interesting work that she took a part in. Victoire smiled as she set up, having brought a few useful leaflet of information and definitely hoping to interact with people though the entirety of the place was currently very unfamiliar. It would still be interesting. She was ready for the questions, and hoped that the ministry would be of interest to people especially with the election going on.

Amara Madden, the current watcher of Cat Tennon, was on another task as a newly recruited Auror for the past year. Amara was a police officer in the USA for several years before moving to New Zealand. She set up her table and magically hung a banner for attraction of the young minds to see if they eventually wanted to join the dark wizard catching group. It would not hurt her feelings any if she did not receive any visitors. If they were not interested, they did not have what it took to work in such a dangerous field.

Flavio had attended the careers fair in the past, but never with a specific career in mind until that year. He had previously attend with a vague idea of working in the ministry, thinking that if he asked enough questions the ministry people attending the career fair would be able to help shape a real idea of the career he wanted. But that year he had researched prior to the fair, reaching the realization that it was not career in the ministry that would allow him to help people and utilize his knowledge in new and creative ways like he wanted, but instead a career as an Auror. Flavio was not someone who ran into situations looking for a fight, but he was someone who knew how to defend himself and think strategically and out of the box, and in his mind that would be important for an Auror. He knew he could not be sure until he asked about it however, and did not hesitate to approach the first Auror he saw at the fair when he arrived. "Hello." He greeted the woman. "My name is Flavio, and I am interested in becoming an Auror, what kind of skills do you think would be important for me to learn?" He then asked, smiling politely as he waited for a response.

It hadn't been too long when out of the corner of her eye she spotted Flavio up ahead, and with a small smile appearing on her face she quickly hurried her steps to join him at the stand. She'd been unaware of whom he was talking to until she turned her attention to the woman and the banner behind her, and her mouth dropped a little when she put two and two together. She'd spent good portion of her time with the Ravenclaw last year, although it had been during their study sessions as opposed to speaking too much about their lives outside of their classes, but she still considered him to be one of her closest friends. It was because of this that she was surprised to hear the words leave his mouth, about his interest in becoming an Auror, and turning her attention to the lady in front of them, she wondered if she was going to give them any more information that the Professors had at the electives fair two years ago. This woman was the first real Auror Geo had ever laid her eyes on, and glancing her up and down as she spoke, she was feeling a little speechless with awe while in her presence.

This would be the third career fair Tristan attended, and he was curious to see if anything would be different. He hadn't bene too impressed the previous years, as a lot of the people there seemed to not be that successful. What could he learn from a shopkeeper? As usual, his eye was drawn to the ministry table immediately. To his surprise and delight, he spotted the minister there. The previous years he hadn't been here personally, so Tristan knew this was his chance to talk to him. He tried to keep his stride confident as he walked over to the table. "Minister Kingsley, hello." He said, pausing to gather his nerves. "My name is Tristan Collins. Could I ask you some questions?" His voice was hopeful despite his best attempts to stay casual. A part of him wanted to blurt out to the man that he knew his son. That he had tutored Jacob in potions. But he held his tongue. That wasn't important right now.

Nadia smiled as a young girl walked up to her and asked questions. She laughed slightly. "I don't make them exactly, at least, the place I work for does, but my job is to write for them. We have many different departments that do all sorts of different things to make the paper successful." She said spreading out the materials in front of her to show the girl. "Each department has its own focus and so we don't all write for the same release. Some are daily, like current events, others are seasonal for things like Halloween and Christmas." She pointed to one of her own articles, of course then there's me, with the special events department, so we write about anything out of the ordinary, like elections." She crossed her arms on the table and leaned forward. "I'm Nadia, what's your name?"

@Leda

Leda listened intently as the woman described her job, although it did sound very complicated that there we so many different departments although she did know that if you worked as part of a team it was easier to get things done. She had a team of own back at Hogwarts, so it probably the same as that. The Slytherin didn't really care about the elections, as far as she was away it was just one massive argument rather than anyone saying anything new, but she did like the idea of writing about special events. "Would you write about this?" she asked referring to the career fair, and then whether she would be in the article if she did. Maybe she should be doing more to keep herself noticed? "I'm Leda," she smiled at the woman, glad that she'd taken an interest in her but then, that was also why she was here right? She wished Mervyn and Zennon was here, it sounded like something they could have done too. "What's the most ridiculous thing you've written about?" she said, the more strange, the more excited she got.

@Nadia
