"Welcome to Beat a Bludger!" Edward called out to the arrivals on the pitch. "Everyone pick a broom and get in the air. Heta on the north side. Brotherhood south." Once everyone was in position and clear that they knew how to play, he called out to start the game. Edward hit out two bludgers, one to a Heta player and another at a Brotherhood player.

  • This game is similar to dodgeball, except played in the air with broomsticks, and every player armed with a beaters bat.
  • Heta one end of the pitch, Brotherhood on the other.
  • Edward will start by hitting out two bludgers. One to a brother and one to a sister, chosen by RNG and @ those players. Both players then have 24 hours to respond and have the opportunity to @ a player on the other team who must also respond in 24 hours and so on, and so on.
  • There will always be a minimum of two bludgers in circulation at any one point and any player not eliminated can be targeted.
  • If you are hit by a bludger and/or miss posting within 24 hours, you are eliminated.
  • Additional bludgers might be introduced further into the game.
  • The team with the fewest players knocked out at the end wins.
  • The game will run for one week, extended in the event of a tie.
  • If it’s a tie, we’ll go into sudden death and the next knockout decides the winner. If no one gets knocked out after a couple of days, then it’s a draw.
When it's your turn:
  • If you’re tagged, you have up to 24 hours to respond. If you don’t reply in time then your character is out of the game.
  • Make it clear in your post who you are targeting and you must @ them.
  • If you don’t want to @ anyone, you can dodge or miss for RP purposes and stay in the game if you still post within 24 hours — just don’t write that you got hit anywhere!
  • If a bludger is missed, it is considered out of play. In that case, Edward will use RNG to send another bludger to a player on the same team.
Rules:
  • IC - all players must have reasonable flying ability. If your character can't fly then Professor Pirrip will not let you play.
  • Bludgers are altered to be less deadly than those used in Quidditch and hurt about the same as being hit by a dodgeball.
  • A school nurse is present, and anyone falling off their broom will be shielded before they hit the ground.
  • OOC - Any major injuries must be discussed with me and approved by admin prior to posting.
  • You are eliminated if you are hit (even brushed) by a bludger or go over the 24 hour marker. No exceptions!

Amory was rather excited to participate in his first Brotherhood even with Heta. He'd missed out on the first few years and honestly that was on him but he was happy to be there now. He was in air as a bludger was smacked into play and it was smacked at him, that dog (pun intended pls laugh) Pirrip aimed at him first. Amory grinned and narrowed his eyes swinging his bat as hard as he could at the incoming ball and aimed his hit at the first girl. Who in this unfortunate situation happened to be a first year with blonde hair. @Astrid Freecss , yikies oh well.

Hope I got the idea right here? Lmk if not and I need to change something :r

Ignatius wasn't enthused by this prospect, after all, he dealt with enough bludgers in practice. To deign to subject himself to such cruelty willingly and unnecessarily was foolishness, and far below his station. Of course, then he found out he could actually hit bludgers at people for a change and he was right in. He hadn't had much practice with it, but having watched enough sent the bludger coming towards him flying back towards @Alana Cosgrove who he figured ought to have a taste of her own medicine for a change. Ignatius wondered why the rules couldn't be changed for him to have a bat on the field for Slytherin. He supposed he did still need to catch the snitch, however.

Violet wasn't so lucky with the bludger, giving the boys an early advantage. Edward set up another bludger and sent it towards @Susie Lagowski

Dang - they lost one already? Susie was so busy thinking about Violet that she almost missed the bludger whizzing toward her. With no time to aim, she simply swung her bat in the general direction of the boys. The bludger hurtled toward @William Potter-Cade.

Alana took a big swing of her bat and sent the bludger toward @Felix Layton.

William saw the bludger coming and moved to swing his bat at it, colliding with it and sending it toward @Rose Edogawa.

Felix wasn't a beater, but that didn't mean he wasn't fast, like a whippet. He swung his bat when the bludger headed his way, smacking it toward @Mania Athanasiou instead.

Mania had been keeping a close eye on the bludgers and as one headed for Felix she wasn't sure if she wanted to kinda see him smacked by it or not. However when the third year smacked it HER WAY, her eyes narrowed. She had nothing but sheer determination and a dream as she whacked the bludger, sending it hurtling down towards @Benicio Matos . After the threat was avoided he returned her gaze to Felix and threw daggers coated with fire with her eyes at the boy. She considered giving him a vulgar gesture, but didn't want to seem too unsportsmanlike.

Rose was not a beater by nature, but she knew how to play the game, and besides, her mother was one, so really she knew how it worked. She quickly dodged and swung her bat at the incoming bludger from William, sending it in the direction of @Dominic Owens-Lee

Benicio was not the best flyer but he could manage enough to play pick up games of quidditch with friends. He was finding it fun to fly around and stay out of the way of bludgers and people though it was short lived as a bludger was smacked his way. Benicio's bat made a loud thwack as it made contact with the bludger, sending it hurtling towards @Audrey Beauchamp

Audrey had to laugh when she saw the Heta vs Brotherhood event. Really Teddy, she'd thought. I know I'm hot and I don't blame you for being in love with me, but this is a bit too obvious. Of course, she knew that wasn't the case, but she'd tease him about it if he took his tongue out of Hugo's mouth long enough to talk to. And Audrey had to laugh again as Benicio dared to hit a bludger at her. She knew she was the most dangerous person on this ground. For fun, she thought she'd hit it to the second most dangerous person on the ground. @Santiago Torres

Santiago wasn't the biggest participant when it came to club activities but it was hard to pass up it lined up so nicely with his interests. But considering everyone who signed up didn't have the experience he did, well except for Audrey, he knew he'd have to take it easy on them. He grinned as she lobbed a bludger in his direction. He was tempted to send it right back to her but to avoid a back and forth he aimed an easy shot over to one of the first years. @Rose Glass

Rose's eyes widened as one of the oldest, tallest Gryffindor's who also happened a real life beater for his house, swung the bludger toward her. That was hardly fair. Thankfully the first year was ready and the balls weren't as heavy as they would have been in Quidditch. She hit back at the bludger herself, although with a lack of aim and strength she didn't send it toward anyone specific. She just watched as it trailed slowly through the air in @Lumos Walden-Cade 's direction. Yes, well done Rose, that would surely put her back into his good books.

Lumos saw the bludger coming, though it was hardly a real bludger. Not like what he would be playing if he'd actually been playing, but he wasn't on the team so it was fine. He glanced at Rose and grinned at her, before whacking the bludger at @Mania Athanasiou

Mania let out an audible gasp as a bludger was whacked towards her again. BY ONE OF THE CADE TWINS! Well now she knew which one was the cuter of the two. The one who didn't whack bludgers at her. Swinging her bat as hard as she could Nia had one target and one target only, she smacked the bludger, hard, and watched proudly with a smile as it hurtled towards @Felix Layton.

Edward watched the game carefully, keeping an eye on the play and soon noticing that Dominic Owens-Lee had been eliminated. Edward checked he was okay, then sent another bludger out to a Brotherhood player. @Angelo Dela Cruz

Angelo had chickened out in trying out for the Quidditch team last semester. Duelling did not go quite as expected either. It was great that the Brotherhood was hosting a sort of Quidditch, so it would be nice for Angelo to sort of have a trial run before he tries again next year. The problem was that flying was... well, it was cool but also... weird. But hey, he was managing fine in the air—he felt a little wobbly, but maybe that was just his imagination, but hey, he wasn't quite used to flying one-handed yet! It was going well so far though, with most members just ignoring him, and he could just sort of, ya know... fly and get his bearings. He was even trying to swing his bat at one point or another. Or maybe repeatedly. But yeah, he was doing well with staying in the air and swinging his bat. Or, well, at least he was until the bludger came right towards him. He swung his bat quite valiantly. Only to miss quite badly. Mostly because he hadn't been sure how to hit it, and doing a backhand was not his smartest idea so yeah, the bludger hit him quite solidly, which made him let go of his bat and clutch his midsection which threw his balance off just a little but it was okay because he stayed in the air like he was supposed to! Just well, clutching his broom a little tighter as he leans down because that somehow made him more stable. "I'm okeeeh!" he yelled as he slowly lowered down to the ground. Phew. Yep. Probably not trying out for Quidditch next year.

Felix knew it the moment Lumos hit the bludger at Nia that he was about to recieve a dish served cold. He smirked as the second year whacked the bludger in his direction, no doubt for the one he'd sent her earlier. Felix may have been a seeker but he wasn't bad with a bat, either. He hit it towards the girls again, this time it was headed for @Sybil St. James. At the same time he heard the yelp coming from one side and spotted one of the younger boys headed to the ground.

Mania was just a little bit bummed when her shot did not hit Felix. Shame. However she soon heard a familiar voice calling out something and her eyes shot toward Angelo for a moment. She was glad to see he was back on the ground safely before turning her attention back on the game as to not get hit for being careless.

Two hits in a row put Heta one point ahead. After checking Angelo was okay, Edward hit out another bludger to a Brotherhood player to replace the one that was lost. @Benicio Matos
