Hello all and welcome to another bi-weekly update! There's quite a few things to discuss so let's get right into it.
End of Year 45
It's the end of another year here at Hogwarts New Zealand. My, how the time flies! The end of the year means there are a few things happening, including graduation and Slytherin winning the house cup! By now, all students have been promoted to their new groups and graduates have been moved to the graduate group, leaving them some time to finish up rps around the castle or post in the graduation ceremony.
Hogwarts publications
The end of the schoolyear also marks the time for two of Hogwarts' most fun publications to be revealed to us all. One of which is the second edition of the Hogwarts Monthly which has been published right here. This edition involves some particularly interesting op-eds on life at Hogwarts and is certainly worth checking out! Next to the Hogwarts Monthly, the Accio! Yearbook has also been published so if you're keen on seeing all of your students' pretty pictures, check it out right here! A big thank you to everyone working on both the Hogwarts Monthly and the Yearbook again this year.
Year 46 coming up!
One year ending means the start of another is right around the corner! If you've got any new kids that are planning to attend Hogwarts this year make sure to get them sorted or transferred in time.
And if you're stronger than I am and did not cave when you've been telling yourself you wouldn't be sorting this year there's still plenty of fun to have school shopping. With the shopping system back in place all students need specific items for the classes they're taking so make sure to send your kids shopping before the year starts! Not sure which items your student already owns? Easily find their inventory by heading over to hogwarts.nz/inventory.
Quidditch Tryouts!
New year, new chances! With a new quidditch season coming up our quidditch captains are looking for re-enforcements to their teams. Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor tryouts have already been posted so make sure to check those out if you have any students that were already part of a team or have someone willing to try out. I hear the Hufflepuff team has quite a few spots to fill
Applications
As per usual during the sorting season, most applications have been closed to allow our admin to get all of the sorting and transferring done for the new year. There are, however, a few fun ones that are open and definitely worth your time.
Professor applications: always dreamt of having your character fill a professor position? This is your chance to make that dream a reality! There are currently two full-time professor positions open at HNZ: one for DADA 5-7, one for Arithmancy 3-4 and one for Astronomy 5-7. If you have been thinking of applying for a professor but find the process a little daunting we also have one temporary position available for Astronomy 1-4. Anyone applying for this position would only be applying to teach this class during Y46.
Shopkeeper application: Not too keen on the whole teaching thing but looking for something more to develop your character? Perhaps running a shop is exactly what they need! There's currently two places that need a new shopkeeper: the Makutu Dinette and the Inner Eye, both located at the Makutu Mall.
MESSI Applications
Now I know this one's technically also an application, but I figured it deserved it's own little header. Since there has been a term limit of one IC year set to being a MESSI member that means our first MESSI group's time has come to an end. A massive thank you to Rowan, Maria, Anna, Kiersten and Camilla for being a part of it and putting their time into coming up with ideas, creating new threads and continuing conversations about how we can improve the onsite OOC aspects of HNZ!
Now because the year has come to an end the MESSI application has been re-opened and we're looking for the next group of people who're willing to help us achieve this mission. Anyone part of MESSI will receive some fun benefits for their efforts, including access to the private MESSI forum and a fun MESSI badge.
Holiday forums!
Just a quick reminder that we're now inbetween schoolyears which means all holiday forums are open to students. These forums offer a great opportunity to roleplay your students outside of the castle walls and let them have experiences in places they're not often allowed to go, so make sure to use this time for some fun rp's!
Moving bio's
It's not something that needs to happen every day, but moving biographies is a small task that you might need happening every once in a while. Like when you might have a character whose bio has been moved to the inactive section and you would like it to be moved back. It happens, no biggie. Should you ever need a bio moved for any reason please message a GM (rather than an Admin who have other things to focus on) and we'll happily get it done for you!
Book Club: March/April
January and February have flown by, which means the Book Club is moving on to their next read! If you'd like to join in deciding which book that'll be, check out this topic to see the options Rowan has provided.
Characters in training
This is your general reminder to pay attention to the time if you have any character that's 'in training' for something (like a healer, animagus or an auror. Once you notive your character has been in training for the needed amount of time (which is app dependent) and should thus be allowed to leave the training title behind them please make sure to reach out so the appropriate changes can be made to the lists we use to keep track of those.
