Beauxbatons Quidditch Practice

Being hit by bludgers didn’t look like fun, and Grace grimaced as the keeper was hit by one. She knew being a beater was the cause for others getting hurt, but it was the only position she really liked doing. So far the other beaters didn’t have much luck with bludgers like before, and Grace had to find one of her own. The girl noticed that the younger one of the seekers, Theodore, was flying more towards the safe side. She didn’t blame him. After a few minutes Grace became frustrated, there were no bludgers in sight or near her and even if they were she always missed them. Maybe it was not her day to hit anything today, even though she wanted to impress her captains.

Maia focused all of her attention on the two other Beaters as she flew next to Elvira. They could take a shot at the Seeker at any given moment so she needed to be ready to defend her.

There was a bludger! Leaning forwards on her broom she struck the side of a bludger, hitting it towards the youngest Seeker in an attempt to practise her aim for a second time. Fletchers face quickly winced though as once again it went right past him and smacked instead into the younger Chaser that had the Quaffle. "I'm so sorry!" she called out, knowing she'd already been hit once and that wasn't going to help things.

Jamies flew along side the other chasers, he hadn't been too involved int he practice thus far, his mind having been somewhere else. But, not he was more active and he was following in behind. He hoped that they would be able to practice enough to win again come the end of the semester. He was ready to take the ball if it was thrown out to him.

Nadine was gearing up to score again, readying herself to throw the Quaffle. Just as it started to leave her hands, a bludger slammed into her side, completely throwing off her attempt and making her broomstick swerve to the side. Tears sprung into her eyes again, and she didn't have to look to see the Quaffle went wide completely. Angrily, she turned her head. "What good does sorry do for me?!" She shouted back. She understood that being hit was part of the game, but to be hit in practice twice in a row set her temper off. She flew away quickly before she could say anything stupid. She had to cool down.

Fletched hadn't meant to hit the girl, and as she shouted at her, the fourth year had to do her best not to get too upset about it. She knew it wasn't a fun experience to be hit with a bludger, but the new girl hadn't even been her target. Not wanting to create a scene the red head flew away, keeping herself to the other end of the pitch for a while, perhaps it would do her good to only play defensively for a a bit.

Grace watched in horror as the younger seeker was hit and she refrained from heading over to her to ask if she was okay, she knew that being hit was part of being on the team, and clearly the other girl wasn’t okay. Grace was glad so far no bludger had aimed for her. When she least expected it, a bludger was in her way and Grace got excited - she could do this! Taking her chances, the alternate took a swing, but missed completely, and she groaned. Seriously, the first bludger she could hit she actually hadn’t managed to hit. She figured she got way too excited.

Maia turned her head around to look what was going on behind her. The new alternate was shouting something at someone, though she could make out what or to who. She looked back at Elvira, wondering if she had heard what was going on also. Whatever happened, surely everyone would be fine at the end of this practice session

Hoping that she wasn't going to get in trouble for her miss, Fletcher knew she needed to prove that she did know how to aim properly, and as soon as she could get another bludger she would have. Flying closer to one in the air she raised her bat, but missed hitting it completely, turning awkwardly on her broom to chase after it.

Once she had orientated herself in the practice again, Celine made sure to keep her eyes on the newest chaser as she approached and attempted once more to score. Her close attention meant she saw the next bludger hit up close and personal, and she winced at the expression on the girl's face after the impact. Celine massaged her own hip lightly, but didn't want to press too hard and further aggravate the bruise she was sure would be forming there. As she went to retrieve the Quaffle and throw it back out to the other chasers, Celine couldn't even blame the young girl for yelling at Fletcher - it was unfortunate that this had happened during the girl's first practice, but bludgers were a prominent part of the sport.

Theodore couldn't be sure, but it seemed suspiciously like Fletcher was trying to target him with her bludgers, if not for the fact she was hitting everyone but him instead, like he had some sort of anti-bludger shield around him. Was it coincidence that they all came so close to him, or was it him flying close to her actual targets? He didn't know, but he flew closer to the redhead after she was told off by one of the newer players to ask. "Are you trying to hit me? Those bludgers keep coming really close. I'd be happier if you didn't, please." He said, looking around at some of the others flying by. "Can't you target some of the older players? They're probably stronger. I feel like the new chaser might quit if she gets hit again." At this rate, Nadine would probably need a trip to the hospital wing, and he hoped it didn't scare her off from the team.

Fulke frowned as some of the players seemed to have a brief altercation over being hit by bludgers. Maia had the right idea with defending Elvira, though perhaps Nadine was in more need of someone to intercept any more incoming bludgers. The captain took possession of the quaffle as it was thrown back into play, but immediately passed it to the closest chaser before flying off to keep an eye on the younger players, just in case it got a little out of hand.

Grace noticed some of her teammates getting angry at the fact that the bludgers were always seeming to target them, and instead of trying to look for bludgers she switched up her game and went to fly close to the new chaser who had been already hit twice this practice. She was going to hit any bludgers coming her way away from her and Nadine.

Why did everyone seem so angry today? She couldn't always control where the bludgers went and she was a little surprised that one of the seekers asked her not to target him. "I'm just aiming for the action," she said honestly. Everyone was getting more annoyed than they were appreciative of her actions, so she purposely tried to stay away from any bludgers so she couldn't do anymore harm.

There was a lot happening and Cheryl made sure she stayed focused. The young alternate chaser got hit twice with a bludger and Cheryl felt bad. '' Are you okay?!'' the blonde shouted as she flew closer to the girl, making sure she was fine. The younger one seemed fine, she could understand the girl's frustration. When the game continued as it ofcourse did she flew quickly back to where the quaffle was. As Brendan took posession again she flew next to him. He passed the quaffle to her and so she took it inside of her hand. Cheryl was quick so she flew to the side of where Celine was guarding the hoops. Cheryl wanted to score badly and see if she still got the hang of it.

Elvira seemed to be doing alright so far so Maia decided to stop defending her and once again take on the attacking role. A lot was going on at the moment and everyone seemed to be angry at Fletcher. ''Just ignore them, Fletcher,'' she called out to her fellow Beater. ''They're just jealous because you're playing fantastic.''

Fletcher smiled as she heard Maia calling out to her, grateful someone thought she wasn't hurting people on purpose. She remained hesitant to try again though, feeling guilty about so many people angered. Perhaps when they'd had a few successes of their own she would try again.

It seemed like Fletcher was much less engaged in the practice following her exchange with the other players, and Fulke appreciated Maia's attempt to try and rouse her out of it. Flying over to the younger redhead, Brendan braked in front of her to get her attention. "Come on. We need you to be as good as you can be for the actual matches. Everyone else is going to have to learn to take a bludger from time to time, its all a part of the game, and you're just doing what you're supposed to, so keep it up. If you want to practice targeting me instead, go for it, I just want to see you staying involved, alright?" Not that he was too enthused about taking a bludger hit himself, but the boy would have much preferred her to hit someone rather than no one at all.

Celine watched closely as Brendan passed the Quaffle off to Cheryl, continuing to hover closely in the approximate centre of the three hoops. She was less familiar with the girl's attack style, which made her more cautious than she had been with Brendan or the relative inexperience of the new girl.

Theodore felt a little bad for how defeated Fletcher looked, but overhearing what their captain had to say about having a job to do reminded the youth of the snitch he had to catch. He needed to step up his own game, and try to catch it before Elvira could to prove he was still worth keeping on the team, so the blonde flew off to resume his search.

Maia smiled at Fletcher and pushed forward, chasing after a bludger. She was determined to hit another player today.

Cheryl flew quickly to the hoops and was determend to score. When she came closer she threw the quaffle, but it went with less power than she had hoped too. Celine seemed to be more alert and her attempt to score was blocked by the keeper. Cheryl had hoped to score but put up her thumb to Celine for getting it. She would try again soon. Cheryl wasn't worried about the bludgers, it was a part of the game. She didn't liked to be hit too, but it didn't matter how old you were. You could always be hit by one. So she stayed out of the small discussion that it seemed.

Elvira watched in alarm as the youngest chaser got hit again and then yelled at Fletcher about it. The two girls quickly separated, so she didn't feel like she had to intervene yet. She knew being hit wasn't fun, but the chaser would have to learn it was part of the game. She gave Maia a small shrug as she noticed her glance, but then she noticed Theodore was also going to Fletcher to talk to her. She didn't need her team member heckling the beater for doing her job. She was glad to see Maia and Brendan both talk to her in support, and flew up high. She cupped her hands around her mouth. "More avoiding bludgers, less complaining about being hit!" She shouted at her team before resuming her search.

Nadine felt bad about her outburst as soon as she had calmed down a bit, but stayed away from where most of the action was for a while. She gave the older female chaser a quick smile when she asked if she was okay, nodding quickly. "I'm fine!" She said, watching as the blonde girl grabbed te Quaffle and tried to score next. She was vaguely aware of some discussion with the beater and a few other players, and blushed. Had she caused this? Cheryl moved closer to the hoops, and as Nadine flew closer to try to get the ball next she heard the female captain tell them off for complaining. Nadine frowned slightly, but bit her lip. It had hurt and surprised her, that was all. She knew it was part of the game, but she had never been hit before. Could she really be blamed for being upset? As Cheryl failed to score, Nadine took the Quaffle next and flew off to do half a lap before attempting to score.

It wasn't like her to question whether she was in the right position, but as Brendan paused up ahead of her she nodded at his comments. They would have to get used to being hit and she was only doing her job. Elvira called down too which helped reassure the fourth year that she shouldn't be taking it too personally herself either. Once she was back in the air, she focused on finding another ball, and spotting one headed towards one of the chasers she lay low on her broom to catch it before it met it's target. Bat in hand she hit it as hard as she could, successfully throwing it off course and towards the eldest Captain. She still felt bad, especially since they'd been supportive of her, but she was just doing as she was told.
