This was an important milestone in the life of a wizard, and Irene Finch knew that many of the students looked at their license as a taste of the freedom they'd earn on their way to becoming fully trained wizards. With the registration list tucked in a folder that was under her arm, the woman stepped into the room. She called attendance, making sure that no one had snuck into the room without paying their galleons. Tucking the folder away, Irene began. "Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. I'm here to prepare you for your apparition exam." She said all of this briskly. Irene was not a lady who liked her time wasted. In truth, she enjoyed teaching apparition to much of the dull paperwork she was often stuck doing. Walking around as she spoke, Irene's icy blue eyes looked at all of them and none of them at once. "The headmistress has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons. But do not attempt to do so in your free time. It would be...unwise to attempt practicing here or elsewhere outside of these lessons" she declared.

Her voice echoed throughout the room. With so few students and the furniture against the walls as she'd requested, her voice carried easily around the large room. The woman focused on a student who'd been fidgeting, her blue eyes piercing into the student. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, solely, depend on your ability to focus on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She enunciated each word. "There are no shortcuts. If you fail to grasp these concepts, you will fail your exam. First, you must choose your destination." She'd made a quick scan and found the perfect landing point. " Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been whispering while she was lecturing and continued, "you must move with deliberation like so." She gave the student a sharp look and the continued to walk.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this information. Soon enough their time was up, and they had done nothing but listen. "Don't forget the 3 Ds. I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything with you to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be." With that, she dismissed the students though she waited a few moments longer in the event that any of the students had questions.

Please RP the lesson. Remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. Without it, they can't apparate!

This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

Vader was feeling a little more stressed than he had been feeling so far this year, but returning to school he was doing something new and of course that was stressing him out. The superlatives was something he’d noted the team doing years ago, and he wanted nothing more than to get it all done well and in one go, but it would be amore drawn out process and he just had to work with that. But it had made him more stressed and was the thing currently, mostly it was keeping up at night. There were other things but he knew the stress he felt towards that was what was keeping him up. He was sure it would go well, he had a good team, a team he trusted deeply. He liked them, thinking that these people he worked with would work well. He was putting that aside in his head as he sipped his coffee and getting himself ready for the day. Vader yawned lightly to himself as he put his things into his bag, grabbing all of the different things he would need for the day. He made sure he had his camera with him as well as his wand and then headed to his first class of the day.
Vader had been nervous about learning how to apparate but he knew it was a vital skill for people his age to learn. It was a vital part of magic and opened so much of the world to him. That and turning seventeen provided both of those things. But he need to learn this, he needed to pass it. He needed to get this first time. Vader walked into the great hall with the rest of his year group. He wished that Ava were there, they would’ve been able to do this together but alas they couldn’t. Instead he just had to do this alone. The gryffindor looked to the front of the hall and noted the professor or teacher if she wasn’t a full professor at the school. He’d seen her before, around the school, but had always wondered what she taught and now he knew. He listened as she started on the lecture explaining that this was based on retention of the information she gave them, not with their house or blood. He nodded along trying to absorb it all in and watched her apparate first. He had thought maybe they’d get to do it in the first lesson, but the lecture was drawn to an end and they were just dismissed. next time then. Vader walked out of the hall, ready to go to the library and read a little more on apparition in prep for the next class.

Emily hadn't ever seen herself looking forward to a class before, but ever since the moment she had signed up for apparition, it was all she could think about. She was so ready to learn to apparate, to finally get her license and all the freedom it entailed. Home had felt empty ever since Odette and Charlie had moved out to get on with their adult lives, and Emily hated the quiet. She was desperate to have the freedom to go visit them easily by herself, without having to use the gross floo system or ask Mum to take her. So she stood close to her classmates, listening with anticipation as the woman from the ministry explained how things were going to work.

Emily didn't think she had ever taken notes in her life, but she took the most serious mental note she could as the woman brought up the three Ds. She knew it would be easy to get one of them mixed up, and she wanted to make sure she was doing this whole thing right. If she didn't get her license, that would be the end of so many of her plans for the future. So many beach trips cancelled! She watched as the woman demonstrated apparition, eyes widening in delight. She had seen her mum do it hundreds of times, but that didn't make it any less impressive. Her heart sank as she realised that today was only a lecture though, glumly heading off once they were dismissed. She couldn't wait to actually put her skills to the test, repeating the three D-s over and over in her head so she wouldn't forget.

William was a new man. There was no denying that, in his mind. His tramping trip over the holidays had been the exact thing he needed. With his seventeenth birthday fast approaching, somehow all of the stresses and worries that had plagued him for years just felt... less important. He had proven himself well and truly, he could hold his own with the best of them and survive off his own skills in nature, and that was all that really mattered. Uno could tease him all she wanted, but nobody could take that feeling away from him.

With all the hiking he had done in the holidays, William was quite excited to learn to apparate. He loved hiking, he thought he would always prefer doing things the muggle way, but there were definitely situations where apparition would be an important skill to have in his back pocket. He had countless memories of his parents apparating him and his siblings over fast-running rivers and difficult rocky areas when they had been small. So he listened carefully to the lady from the ministry, making sure to remember the directions she gave. Just concentrating, William could definitely do that. He watched as she demonstrated, eager to get started himself, and his heart sank as he realised... that was it. Well, next time at least. He headed out of the Great Hall once class was over, already looking forward to the next one.

It had been nice to be home for a little while, and Abian always loved Christmas. But now they were back at Hogwarts, which was also fun. He felt like he was managing to get closer to his goal of becoming a healer. His grades had improved greatly over the past two years, and he hoped that he could keep it up. It meant he had a lot less time for anything else, but he was pretty proud of himself. He also had Quidditch to look forward to. He really hoped Hufflepuff could beat Ravenclaw. That would be wonderful. Hufflepuff really needed a win.

It had been a while since Abian had a new class, so Apparition was something he was a bit nervous about. He'd heard about it, sure, but it was still a strange concept to him. No matter what the wizards called it, it was basically teleporting. And learning to teleport was a wild concept. He headed into the great hall, standing near some of his friends. The ministry lady giving them the lesson was very intimidating, and Abian spent most of his time trying to avoid her cold gaze. The professor told them about the three Ds, which sounded kind of funny. He made sure not to giggle, and instead watched while biting his lip as the professor demonstrated apparating. She then gave them more information, Abian tried his best to listen closely. When the lesson was over, he took note of what the professor said about not taking many things with him. He couldn't believe they would already aparate next time. He didn't feel ready.

Alice was excited for the new semester to start. She had the feeling it would be a good one, and she was eager to return to her clubs and duties as a prefect. Lessons were also interesting, and she was looking forward to the things she would be learning this semester. Elliot was on her mind a lot lately, especially since they had danced at the yule ball together. But she wasn't quite sure what to make of that situation yet. Did she like him? Did he like her? She didn't know. She did know Blake had hurt her a lot the last time she tried to be with someone, and she knew she had to be more cautious this time. She should focus on her classes first and foremost.

Alice made her way to the great hall for the first apparition lesson. She had been somewhat prepared for them by her four older sisters, though they had all given her different accounts of how they would be. Rose had said they were terrible, Phoebe had said they were wonderful, and Diana had said the instructor would try her best to scare them all. Alice was reminded a bit of Diana when she saw the lady who was going to teach them, though she wouldn't tell her sister that. The teacher greeted them and introduced herself, then told them about how they would be able to apparate in the great hall. She talked to them about apparating, citing the three Ds. Alice listened closely, following the teacher as she walked around and spoke to them. The lecture went on for a while, and Alice was curious to hear everything she had to say. She wasn't surprised that they wouldn't attempt actually apparating yet, but was glad to hear they would try it next week. She left once they were dismissed.

Luna had been looking forward to learning to apparate, it was easily one of the most exciting things about being in her sixth year. She made her way down to the great hall where the lessons were being held. Once inside the hall the woman at the front introduced herself as Irene Finch, the head of the department of magical transportation, Luna was surprised such a senior member of the ministry was responsible for preparing them for their apparition test. The main focus of the first lesson seemed to be what the woman referred to as the three Ds, Destination.Determination. Deliberation. These were the things to focus on while apparating, which seemed simple enough. The woman then demonstrated the ability, popping in front of someone who had been whispering during her lecture, which was pretty funny. The lecture went on for a little while longer but they were left with a tip to bring as little as possible with them for their next lesson. Luna was disappointed they would be attempting to apparate but they would clearly be doing so in their next one. Once the lesson was over she made her way out of the great hall.

For Elias, the act of learning a new skill was quite tedious but he recognised that being able to apparate would be extremely useful especially in his future ministry career. Elias strode into the Great hall for their first lesson which was apparantly being taught by an official from the Department of magical transportation. It soon became clear through the course of the woman's lecture that they would not be apparating in their first lesson which came as a disappointment to Elias but he still paid attention and took a mental note to remember the three D's as they seemed important by the amount of emphasis being put on them. When the lesson was over Elias made his way out of the great hall a little annoyed they hadn't apparated but at the very least, knowing they would be in their follow up lesson.
