Lillith was so excited for halloween, the candy, the spooks and the costume. Except that, she didn't have a costume and nor did she have the creative capability to design one. She had considered going as a ballerina, of course it would've been probably the easiest of costumes, but she didn't want to, she would've just been dressing as herself. So instead she took a slightly different route, a gymnast, she said, and just wore her red leotard, something she had worn under her ballet costumes. She put her hair up in a red scrunchie and her last-minute halloween costume was complete. Maybe she should've planned it with Harper, but it was too late for that. The young hufflepuff gorged herself on sweets as she looked around for her. Soon she found Harper, who seemed to be getting herself some food at the table. "Harper!" Lillith shouted, right behind her, hoping to scare the girl.

@Harper Alston

While Harper had been looking forward to the Halloween feast and all the fun it would bring, she had been dreading the costume part. She tended to pack lightly, so trying to make a costume out of her limited wardrobe was near impossible. For a second, she had considered just borrowing a tie from Hunter and going as a Hufflepuff, but that would have been lame and a betrayal of Gryffindor. Thankfully, the solution to her problem came when Sky proposed an utterly absurd but very amusing group costume idea. After a frantic owl to her family, she'd gotten her outfit sent to Hogwarts.

And that's how Harper ended up in a hot dog costume. She'd caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror in the dorm and had giggled at how ridiculous she looked. At least she wasn't the only one. Sky was dressed as a ketchup bottle while Hilda was mustard. The only problem was that Harper had promised to meet up with Lillith at the feast, so her hot dog outfit looked completely random and out of place. Maybe she could find her roommates later for pictures.

Harper wasn't sure where to find Lillith but decided to start with the snack table, knowing that the Hufflepuff had a sweet tooth. As she searched, she grabbed a plate and started to load it with treats, figuring she might as well multi-task. She was just about to add a cauldron cake to her plate when someone behind her shouted, causing her to jump. Harper turned around and grinned when she saw who it was. "Lillith! Hi! You scared me," she said with a laugh. She eyed Lillith's outfit, noting that her leotard looked like a real one and not just a costume. "Nice leo. Did you used to do gymnastics?" she asked curiously.

"Hi!" Lillith giggled, satisfied that she managed to scare Harper. She grinned at the Harper's compliment, her costume may have been put together haphazardly but it still looked pretty good. "Nope! This is from my ballet costume." She said as she put her arms in front of her and standing on her points, mimicking a ballet stance. It was good thing that it had actually been Harper in the hot dog costume, and not some other person, because she could've totally scared someone she didn't know to bits. "I like your costume!" Food was always a good choice to go for in terms of anything, but it was a good thing she shot that idea down as soon as she remembered the she was terrible at making things.

Harper gave a small clap — or at least tried to since she was still balancing her plate — as Lillith got up on point. "Will you be doing more ballet on the dance floor later? Or is it strictly cartwheels and backflips since you're a gymnast tonight?" she joked. She smiled when Lillith complimented her costume. "Thank you! I don't know why hot dog costumes exist, but I'm glad they do." It made her wonder what other weird costumes were out there; maybe next year she'd start her search earlier.

Harper took a bite out of the cauldron cake she'd been holding and held out her plate in a silent invitation for Lillith to grab something if she wanted. The sight of the food gave her an idea. "Do you think they're serving hot dogs here? Then I could be a cannibalistic hot dog! Much scarier," she said with a grin. A cannibalistic hot dog was much better than an out-of-context hot dog.

"Just ballet." Lillith said. "But if you're lucky enough, you might see me do a cartwheel." She added giggling, Lillith was only kidding, but she was confident she could do one, she had never done a cartwheel before, but she did try tumbling and how different could that be?

Lillith took a treacle tart from Harper's plate, she would never take down an offer for food. She took a bite and swallowed, laughing a little at Harper's statement. "Mhm, Maybe we should look for one." Lillith said, only half joking. "You could even put some ketchup on your mouth. You know, to sell the look." Yes, ketchup as hotdog blood sounded about right to Lillith.

Harper made a face at Lillith's suggestion before laughing. "Gross! But you're right, ketchup blood would complete the look." She liked ketchup okay, but filling her mouth with the stuff did not sound ideal. She'd seen a couple of other students in costumes covered in fake blood and wondered if they found it sticky or uncomfortable. "If we find any ketchup, you could add some to your nose. Maybe you fell off the uneven bars and faceplanted. Very tragic," she said, giggling slightly at the mental image even though she knew it wasn't very funny in real life. She'd had her fair share of injuries when she used to gymnastics; thankfully none had been very bloody.

"Yes, I'm always right." Lillith said dramatically, flipping the empty space where her hair would be if it were down. She giggled and finished her tart, taking a mental note to take some more before the Halloween feast was over. "Hmm.. Yes, very tragic indeed." She said as she stroked her imaginary beard-goatee. The thought of ketchup on her nose didn't exactly appeal to her, but she did consider it for a split second. She could use something else instead of ketchup, paint maybe? "Do you think they have red paint anywhere?" She asked. The girl could definitely try looking for red paint later before taking her Halloween photo.

Harper finished her cauldron cake, smiling as Lillith stroked her imaginary beard. "Oh, maybe!" she said at the paint suggestion. There were all kinds of strange things in the Great Hall, and it wasn't really a stretch to assume that some kind of fake blood substance was nearby. A house elf walked by, its tattered gown covered in blood red paint. "Looks like the house elves had the same idea." It was nice that the school put so much effort into the Halloween feast.

Harper popped a chocolate in her mouth and chewed thoughtfully. "We could check out the haunted tent thing over there?" she suggested, gesturing towards the tent in the middle of the room. "Bet there are pools of blood in there, so maybe we'll find some paint nearby." She was starting to get full from all the sweets she'd eaten, and she was eager to start exploring the room and checking out all the other activities available. "Want the last one?" she asked, holding out her plate which held a lone chocolate.

Lillith looked to see the house elf that was walking by and smiled at it. Lillith found them adorable, one of them had made her a huge ball of cotton candy that was even bigger than it's head. She thought about the cotton ball with a dreamy look, maybe she could ask for another one when she visits the kitchens again.

Lillith's thoughts were cut short when Harper mentioned the tent, the young hufflepuff looked towards it, "You're right! They probably do have some." She said, starting to already head towards the tent. "Oh! Yes please! Thank You." She said, taking the last chocolate. The two girls headed towards the large tent in the middle.

Harper tossed the empty paper plate in a nearby bin and eagerly followed Lillith into the tent. The first thing she saw were several funhouse mirrors that while slightly disorienting, weren't exactly scary. One of them made the mustard stripe on her costume look even wavier and gave her a bulbous nose . "Wow these make me look even more ridiculous," she giggled, striking a pose. She moved to another mirror, smiling when it made her very short and round. "These aren't very scary though. They need more blood splatters." Hopefully the rest of the tent would be filled with spookier surprises.

Lillith popped the chocolate into her mouth and peered inside the tent after Harper went in. She wasn't particularly scared of horror or anything like that but she did hate jump scares. Well, there was nothing like that in the tent, instead, as far as Lillith could see, it was just a bunch of weirdly shaped mirrors. Giggling at how Harper looked in one of them, Lillith entered the tent and found herself a mirror that gave her a particularly large head. "I look like those bobble-head things!" She said, as she shaked her head around. The young hufflepuff agreed that it was not scary enough for Halloween, it seemed more like a fair thing to to her, "Maybe they have some blood over there." She said, gesturing at another opening.
