Chloë was quite excited for the yule ball this year. Especially since it was the first time she was going with Sully since they had started dating. She knew they had gone last year and had even taken the dance lessons together but things still felt a bit different. At least this time around she wasn't any type of nervous to be going with him. If anything she felt confident they were sure to have a fun evening. She had tried her best not to mess up her make-up and even managed to straighten her hair for a change. Her dress was bright, definitely a statement. She liked it though and was confident enough that she could pull it off. She felt good in it nonetheless, so it didn't really matter what others thought anyways. Except for Sully, obviously, since she'd be lying if she said it wouldn't be a bit of a bummer if he didn't like it. Either way, she was keen to get going and made her way down from her dorm to the common room as quickly as she could. Which wasn't as quickly as she had hoped due to the limited movement wearing a long dress allowed. Luckily, the skirt of her dress was still some sort of stretchy fabric though and whilst getting down the stairs from her dorm didn't seem like as big of a challenge as she had thought it would be it still took relatively more effort than it normally did. Still, that was only a single set of stairs which was nothing compared to the long way down she still had to go. All the more reason she was glad they had decided to meet up in the common room because between her dress and the heels she was wearing she wasn't too keen on having to get all the way down on her own. Just in case. Chloë looked around when the few girls walking in front of her dispersed into the common room as they headed for the door, taking only a few seconds to notice her boyfriend. "Hi." She smiled when she reached him. "You're looking sharp." She nodded approvingly, before adding in a little joke. "Kind of miss the bow tie though."

Sully and Chloë had settled into something Sully could only describe as comfortable over the past year or so they'd been dating and Sully couldn't be more thrilled. Others were having relationship drama left and right and Sully got to sit back and be smug cause he was dating one of the coolest girls in the school. A thought he still held in high regard even as he watched Chloë perilously make her way down the stairs into the common room, grinning crookedly at her as she joined him at the bottom.

"Damn straight. And you look amazing, as well," he said, unable to resist brushing his fingers lightly through her hair, enamored for a moment at the way the light hit it when it was this straight. Sully let out a laugh at Chloë's bowtie comment, holding up a finger so she'd pause before grabbing his wand from his pocket. "Hmm, maybe... bowus tieus," Sully tried, pronouncing his made up spell in a grand voice and tapping his tie three times. He watched, pleasantly surprised, when his tie did an aborted sort of somersault, scrunching itself up near his throat. The smile faltered when his tie suddenly pulled tight around his neck and Sully made a choking sound, wrenching it loose and shooting Chloë a sheepish grin. "Okay, maybe not," he wheezed, laughing quietly at himself as he ran a finger along his collar. Making up spells was still Sully's favourite hobby, but he probably needed to shelve it during formal events. "Ready to go then," he asked once he was certain his tie had given up trying to kill him, offering Chloë his arm so they could make their way downstairs.

Even though her dress had been less of a terror to walk down the stairs in than she had expected Chloë was still sure she hadn't exactly looked graceful doing it and she was glad Sully had decided not to comment on it. Or maybe he was just saving it for the long way down they still had to go. She figured Hufflepuffs and Slytherin had it far easier at events like these. They only had a couple of stairs to face after all. Still, she wasn't going to let being all the way up in the castle keep her from looking good, never backing down from a little challenge anyways.

"Thanks, I try." She smiled, looking at Sully fondly as he brushed his fingers through her hair. Even if they had been together for a while now it wasn't unusual for her cheeks to still turn slightly red at little things like that every once in a while. She figured that was a good thing though, a clear sign she still really liked him. Although she didn't need to feel herself blushing to know that she did. Chloë watched curiously when Sully took out his wand, for a second thinking he had actually managed untill his tie tightened around his neck and her eyes grew wide. "Definitely not." She emphasized, slightly shaking her head. "You're an idiot, you know that?" She let out a soft chuckle as she reached for his tie, trying to fix it after he had gotten it to stop strangling him. Once she had straigthened the tie out she gave it a little pat before taking his arm, grateful for the little extra support in walking down the stairs. "Do you think there'll be any blind dates drama this year?" She asked as they started to make their way down the stairs. The blind dates thing the clubs organized sounded fun and she was sure there had been plenty of people who had a good time last year, but it had been hard not to notice some of the dates that hadn't gone so well.

I am a genius, thank you very much,” Sully said loftily, trying not to blush as Chloë straightened his tie. Unable to resist when she was so close, he leant down, giving her a quick peck on the lips before straightening back up and wiggling his eyebrows at her, just to lighten the moment. Let no one say Sully wasn’t a romantic or something.

The walk downstairs actually went a lot smoother than he’d expected, and Sully figured he should probably give Chloë more credit considering how coordinated she could be on a broom with a quaffle. Though he did have to resist the urge to knock her off balance whenever they reached a new floor. “I think everyone’s obligated to have drama at the ball,” he said, trying to remember who he’d seen on the list at the Brotherhood meeting. “Daintree’s taking Jarica, which’ll be interesting. Oh, and Noel’s got Eric’s ex, you know the one he lost it with and yelled at last year? That'll probably be a laugh,” He said, ticking the names off on his fingers. “Also convinced René to sign up and he’s with an older girl and losing his mind over it, which has been funny as,” Sully added, still laughing at the thought. Despite how annoying all René’s questions had gotten after awhile, Sully still enjoyed that how René had clung to every scrap of advice. “Wonder if we can spot them,” he said, craning his neck to check the crowd as they reached the Great Hall.

Chloë smiled when Sully took the opportunity of her fixing his tie to give her a peck on the lips, breaking out in a soft laugh when he wiggled his eyebrows after. She was quite keen on his silliness, especially since it seemed so easy for him to make her laugh. She was also more than grateful to be holding onto his arm as they moved down the flights of stairs. So far, it felt like she was going pretty steady and she had managed to keep her balance but whenever she felt like she might lose it she was glad he was there. Although she did hope she wouldn't just take him down with her if she did somehow manage to completely mess up.

"Well there's a positive thought." Chloë chuckled at his response to her question, listening to the names he mentioned. "She's one of your friends, right? Jarica?" She asked, wanting to make sure she had the right person in mind. She liked to believe she was pretty up to date on who Sully's other friends were by now and tried her best to match faces to names, but still she figured it couldn't hurt to ask. "Yeah, I saw that." She nodded when he mentioned who Noel was paired with. "I figure that'll be interesting for sure." She added with a small grin. Obviously Noel was their friend and she wouldn't wish anything bad on him, but him being paired with Nicole had to make for an interesting evening at the very least. "So did you give him any solid advice or have you just been getting him to do whatever you told him?" Chloë laughed when Sully mentioned René. Judging by what she knew about René so far she was certain he would've come to Sully for advice and knowing her boyfriend she didn't doubt he'd been getting a real laugh out of it. "I'm sure we will," She nodded as she moved from holding onto his arm to grabbing his hand when they reached the hall. "And I reckon the dancefloor is the best place to start looking." She added with a grin as she started heading for the middle of the hall.

Sully nodded when Chloë asked about Jarica, trying to image her with Daintree and coming up blank. He could never really tell what Daintree was thinking. And Jarica just thought about books a lot. "At least it means no Noel this year," he added, grinning at Chloë. Noel was one of Sully's best friends, and he loved the dude, but if he'd spent this year's ball hanging around him and Chloë like he had last year, Sully might have needed to set a bludger on him.

Sully scoffed when Chloë asked about what he'd been telling René, making a non-committal gesture. "I did my brotherly duties and teased the hell out of him," he announced proudly, squinting round the hall and making a pleased noise when he actually spotted René in he crowd, easy enough considering his brother was pretty tall for a first year. "And I gave him my hat. I'm very generous. Look, over there," he said, pointing René, hat and all, and his date out as Chloë lead them out onto the dance floor. "But he seems fine," Sully said, still distracted by the sight of Chloë's dress moving under the light filtering across the dance floor under the enchanted snow. He gave her a little tug once they were situated more on the dance floor, hoping to pull her closer.

Chloë let out a soft laugh at Sully's words about Noel, although she had to admit she didn't exactly mind either. He was obviously on of their best friends and having him tag along at the valentine's dance last year in an attempt to cheer him up had been fine, but it hadn't exactly been what she imagined it would be like before. "Now you're just stuck with me for the night." She grinned in return. She had been to multiple dances on her own in the previous years and she had always managed to have fun but she had to admit going with someone she liked, going with Sully, definitely beat them all. Even last year's when they had gone together as well. Just not together together.

Chloë shook her head with a soft laugh when Sully mentioned teasing René about his date. It wasn't like she had expected anything else from him though, or any older sibling for that matter. "That's what I figured." She responded amusedly, before rolling her eyes when he mentioned giving his brother his hat and how generous that had been. As soon as Sully had found René in the crowd of students she followed his finger with her eyes untill she had found him as well. "I mean he's got a date with a girl, what, two years older? Surely that must give him at least some brag rights. Don't think you've ever pulled that, huh?" Chloë joked, keeping her eyes on the younger kids for a second before focussing back on Sully when they came to a stop on the dance floor. She chuckled when he gave her a tug, luckily managing to step closer rather than stumble over her own feet. At least her balance still hadn't failed her. She losely threw her arms around his neck now that she was closer, looking up at him with a smile. "Well this definitely isn't the amount of distance they told us to keep in those dance lessons."
