Killian might not have been able to duel when he was a kid - due to his giant genes, this was the next best thing. He did wonder how dueling was in Hogwarts New Zealand versus the dueling that was over in Durmstrang. Only time would tell. He signed up again this year to help proctor the dueling matches. At least if a spell went sideways and hit him, he will likely not feel it. "Choose opposite ends of the stage. When you are ready, bow to your opponent, and begin. Whoever wins will advance." Killian took a step back and folded his arms across his chest to witness the chaos.​

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Finley bowed to his roommate and grinned. "Good luck Miles!" Before he quickly cast his first stunning spell.

His last duel had been... interesting to say the least and he was still a bit confused as to why Christa had just given up. But now he was in the finals and he was determined to win the whole thing. "Good luck to you as well, mate!" He called to his friend, bowing with a little dramatic flair before the straightened. Finley was first to fire, though Miles was equally quick to throw up a shield charm before retaliating with an Expelliarmus.

Mania wasn't all that upset about losing to Finley, okay fine maybe she was a little sad she couldn't make it all the way but that was okay. She instead decided to show support to her best friend by watching his duel and supporting him, only to realize he was up against Miles. Another of her friends and a cute one at that. Dang it. Nia looooved Finfin, he was her best friend but Miles was sort of cute, well not even just sort of, so she couldn't just pick one or the other, well she could but likeeeee she didn't want to. Staying to watch the duel with a stronger and more keen interest than before the Gryffindor kept her eyes on the duo, whoever won would deserve it.

Finley grinned at Miles, and noticed Mania in the wings so he tried not to mess himself up by letting her distract him. He was always distracted by his best friend because she was his best friend obviously. He managed to block Miles' spell and then hit back with Stupefy.

If he wanted to win he knew he had to be smart about things and not wear himself down too much. He was trying to pace himself, though still had to be quick enough to protect himself with a shield charm. But he took his time with the next spell, thinking about it before aiming across the duelling platform, "Petrificus Totalus!"

Miles was determined that he wasn't going to lose, narrowing his eyes in concentration as he blocked Finley's next attack before throwing back his own stunning spell across the platform.

He was thinking about his stamina, not trying to get as tired as he did last time. So he decided to dodge the next spell, stepping to the side so it could fly harmlessly by, instead of wasting the energy to try and put up a shield. Then, he adjusted his aim right back to the boy across from him, "Rictusempra!"

Finley was hit with the spell and started laughing, desperately trying to break it off.

He couldn't help the small surprised look which cross his face as he realized his spell had just hit. But then came the frown, tilting his head slightly as he watched Finley while he was unable to actually cast and spells while he was busy laughing. He wished he could cast twice in a row because it would be pretty easy to disarm the other boy when he couldn't defend himself properly. But unfortunately, that was not how it worked and all he could do was stand there and wait to see if the laughter would subside.

He took a moment to try and breathe through the laughter and tried to cast finite, managing to get it between laughs. He stood up straight and quickly cast stupefy.

Miles was quiet as he watched, back on the ready as soon as he noticed Finley had managed to stop the laughter. He wasn't caught off guard by the next spell, able to get his shield up in time before firing back an Expelliarmus.

He almost wished another spell had hit Finley instead of just a laughing one. Maybe he could have won this already. But he still needed to focus and he wasn't going to lose, so he made sure to put up another shield before slinging back a Stupefy.

The tiredness was coming back, so much so that he was a little too slow to get up a shield for the next spell. It hit him square in the chest and the next second Miles felt himself flying backward. His grip tightened on his wand as he crumped in a heap, thankfully not getting throwing completely off the platform in the process. "I'm good!" He quickly announced, holding his wand up to show he still had it as he tried to untangle himself to stand up again. "It's good."
