TEAM RED - 70 POINTS
(Beater)

Wendall couldn't believe that Leda had managed to catch it again! He went in search of another bludger, hoping to do what he could to help his team. Raising his bat, he made excellent contact with a bludger, aiming for Raylee in the hopes that team red would be able to get the quaffle back in possession.

Ray had barely even moved when Wendall's bludger struck her in the leg. She gave him a look somewhere between disbelief and resignation. "Wendall," she said, "I say this with so much love. Don't give up your day-job."

Wendall frowned when Raylee told him not to give up his job, although he thought it was a very good aim. That was, until he realised she was on his team. He sheepishly apologised, flying off before he could make things any worse.

Meanwhile, Ned had grabbed the quaffle and was already off down the pitch with it tucked safely in her armpit. Honestly, this game was theirs. Two more goals, or one more snitch, and it was all over for Team Red.

Felix knew he was going to need to up his game or it was all over. He took a moment to scan the pitch, assessing the situation, before darting off again the direction of the golden glow.

Susie flew after the bludger that had hit Raylee, hoping to get another swing at it before it careered off somewhere, but she was too slow. "GO ON, NED!!" she yelled instead.
"GO LEDA!! YOU CAN DO IT!!"

Wendall was going to do his best to redeem himself, and immediately went after another bludger. As he got closer, he hit it as hard as he could toward Leda, hoping to knock her out of the game.

Eluned and Ten were a well-oiled machine. Or so Ned thought. She was sure Rudolf wouldn't expect them to try the exact same fake-out tactic twice in a row. Alas, he was paying attention this time, and blocked the quaffle easily.

Leda was minding her own business when she felt another bludger hit her in the torso. It didn't hurt but it was worrying that once more and she wouldn't be able to win for the blue team. She hoped Ned and Ten could score quickly so that even if she didn't catch the snitch, they'd win.

"Aaah, I saw that coming," said Rudolf. He had the girls figured out now. It was just a shame they were already so late into the game. He was pretty sure Red didn't have time to catch up - although Wendall was doing a great job taking out Blue's seeker. Rudolf lobbed the quaffle back into play.

Felix took the chance and flew after the snitch once more, not losing sight of it despite the commotion around him. He reached out, mere inches away from the ball, and the thought of Monty blowing his whistle made him push just a little further, enough so his fingers wrapped around it.

"Incredible! Oh, sorry - hang on." Monty blew the whistle. "Incredible! Layton-King, determined not to be left behind as he tears through the sky like an eagle, the golden snitch his prey, doomed from the moment laid eyes on it! Will anybody stop him? Can anybody stop him? It's neck-and-neck, one-hundred plays one-hundred - oh, the crowd is going absolutely bananas! I don't know about you, but I can hardly contain my excitement Freddie!!" Monty stopped to catch his breath, then blew the whistle.

Freddie, who had been quietly feeding Monty numbers and other bits of information about the match, suddenly burst out laughing. He almost felt like a real commentator - but it was better than that, because he didn't have to say anything. Merlin - it must have been nice not to mind making an idiot out of yourself. And Monty was a complete and utter idiot.

Oh, god, he was so embarrassing. Rion was glad she wasn't a seeker. She dove quickly for the quaffle, hiding behind Raylee as they flew together toward Mary Lou's hoops.

There wasn't much left in the game now, it could have just come down to two more goals. Ten moved quickly to one side of Rion, hoping Ned would take the other for an efficient tackle.

Eluned nodded to Ten, then went in for the tackle - but Rion was too quick. Ugh - maybe they'd underestimated her. They had to get that quaffle back; the game was nearly over!!

Felix was practically glowing as Monty raved about his success. He knew he only had to catch it once more and he would have beaten his aunt. He would be better than a former Captain, someone who'd been playing for years. He got into position, watching as Rion grabbed the quaffle, and hoped that the girls wouldn't make this more difficult than it needed to be.

Aaargh, where were the bludgers?! Susie could see a glowing blue ball, but it might as well have been a planet for how far-off it was. She headed toward it anyway, wondering if she could whack it toward the snitch and then come back for a second go.

Until about 24 seconds ago, Leda hadn't been worried about losing. However now the playing field had levelled out and the blue team were in real danger of losing. "We haven't come this far just to lose to them now," she'd told the girls when they'd regrouped. The redhead moved off in search of the snitch, but also secretly hoped they'd score a couple of quaffle goals in the meantime.

Rion had a clear path all the way to the hoops. She glanced around for Raylee, but the woman had hung back, almost as if she wanted Rion to shoot. The Ravenclaw took a deep breath, and threw. The red ball sailed effortlessly through the hoops. Yes! She'd done it! One more goal, that was all they needed, and Team Red would be victorious.

Alright, Rion could have one goal if it meant they wouldn't spend the rest of this trip hearing about how much she hadn't participated in the game. Ten caught the quaffle as it was thrown back out once more from the keeper and swiftly headed in the opposite direction.

Ned was starting to get a bit dizzy with all the glowing balls flying around everywhere. She rubbed her eyes as she flew after Ten. She was going to sleep well after this, even on the lumpy ground.

Wendall was minding his own business when the bludger came flying straight for him. He was almost too alarmed to do anything, but not wanted to look like a fool in front of his wife and children, Wendall raised his bat at the last moment, hitting the brown ball away from him, watching it sail straight for Leda.

Ray smiled. Rion was a good player, once she relaxed. And now they were one goal away from a very smug celebration. The redhead turned and flew after Ten, waiting for an opportunity to tackle - something Rion probably wasn't going to help with.

Maybe if this was a real game, Ten would have been less inclined to be hit by a bludger, but upon seeing Wendall aiming for Leda and knowing it would knock her out, Ten simply dropped the quaffle in mid air, trusting Ned to catch it, and letting the bludger hit her in the torso in order to save her aunt. Talk about taking one for the team.
