Y51 Start of Year Feast

Being back at school, hadn't exactly been in Vader's plans. Really he'd put this whole chapter of his life behind him. He was focused on moving forward, sticking to his photography (which was going well) and focused on his work. But, with what had happened with Padme, and with merrie at the school, he figured one semester teaching to also keep an eye on them would be fine. Being away from Ava, Dart, Plum and his nephews was hard, but he could see his kids in the crowd of students sat at various tables and felt pleased to be there for them. He applauded for the sortees, names that were familiar to him still being sorted. Equally too were some of the professors. He glanced towards the head master as he spoke and couldn't help but shudder a little. An odd choice in his mind for the leader of the school. But the food appeared and Vader found his old favourites, ones he hadn't had in a good while.

Arachne let out a soft sigh when Juniper asked about her break. It had been the same as the last, and it hadn't been great. Her parents kept trying to help her and Nessie make up, but nothing they did ever worked. Arachne had fled the house as often as she could, spending hours reading or drawing outside. She didn't want to start off the year complaining about her sister again, so she just shrugged. "I didn't do anything special," she said softly. "Practiced my tarot readings a little, I'm excited for Divination." She looked at Eloise. "Are you going to try out for the team?"

@Eloise Flynn @Juniper Veritas

Charlotte thought for a moment about the boy's question. "Not quite. We do still have to do letters, but owls do rather well delivering them. And it's pretty neat that they know exactly where to go," she said, getting some food for her plate. "But have you tried writing a letter?" she asked, guesing this was a first year if he was asking questions like this. "Maybe you could see how long it would take first before judging," she added nicely. She wasn't trying to be sassy about it, as she knew that texting could be far easier. She had a phone that she used to text her dad, but it was always acting up because she would leave it beside all the magical items in their house.

@Henry Collins

Daviana was feeling good about her house sorting - it was the same as her aunt's, which was what she wanted. She would have been okay with other houses, but she wanted to be set up for success, and her aunt was pretty successful. The newly minted Gryffindor thought that it must start with which house you were sorted into. Having taken a seat next to an older girl, she listened to the Headmaster as he gave a short little speech and made note of her head of house, Professor Cade. Once he was done, she hungrily started piling food on her plate when the older girl asked a question. "It was looooong. And the seats are exactly comfortable. I mean, they're okay, but they could use a bit more cushion, don't you think?" she replied. "I'm Daviana," she continued, introducing herself to the girl.

@Apolline Fontaine

Juniper nodded her agreement. Yeah the Headmaster did look awfully lot like he might appear out of thin air and that made the third year shiver involuntarily. She was glad both her friends had bitten onto her question and explained their breaks to her, Juni gave a keen look at each girl as they spoke and a small smile to Arachne. Remembering their chat from the beginning of last year the Hufflepuff wondered if the girl's relationship with her twin had improved at all, she certainly hoped so. "That sounds nice, you should tryout for the team." Juniper nodded towards Eloise, she'd considered she might want to tryout just to prove she could do it. "My break was nothing out of the ordinary either, I mainly just hung with my family and spent time on the beach collecting seashells for my mum. I also filled a new jar with the sand since I lost my old one." She explained, frowning a little at the mention of her beloved jar that was now long since lost.

AJ smiled as Oliver talked about his break and his sisters. He could relate to that. "I know, right? Siblings are weird like that. I spend half the school year missing them, and then they annoy the crap out of me after five seconds of being on break." He shook his head a little. He smiled at Oliver's enthusiasm after talking about tryouts. "Beater." He said without hesitation. "Do you play?"

@Oliver Harper

Eloise glanced at Arachane when she had noticed the sigh she had let out, but decided not to say anything. Though she did wonder what was going through her roommate's head at that moment. She did perk up a little at what Arachne had been saying. "That sounds like fun! I'm excited for it too! You can practice your reading on me someday if you like?" Eloise says with encouragement and a grin. Eloise was intrigued by what the class was going to entail, but she was excited for it nevertheless. The Hufflepuff shook her head. "Oh merlin no. Heights aren't for me, nor Quidditch in general. I think my brother would agree with me on that," Eloise says with a giggle and a shake of her head. After what had happened during the break, Eloise wasn't so keen on it. She turned to Juniper as she listened to the other girl, frowning in small concern. "Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about your jar"

@Arachne Westwick @Juniper Veritas

Henry frowned a little when the girl had stated that they didn't quite have phones or any other forms of communication aside from letters. That was useless if Henry was being honest. "No" Henry grumbled a little when the older girl had asked about his writing letters. Sure, he wrote letters, but that was for like school back home, not full-on letters to send back and forth between his family. It seemed that the magical world was living in ancient times or something. "I guess you're right" Henry mutters with a shrug. He was still getting used to the magical world after all. Henry began to eat some of his food, but turned to the older girl again. "You said there were magical versions. What magical versions did you mean?" Henry asked the older girl, tilting his head to the side a bit.

@Charlotte Astor Williams

"Siblings, am I right?" Ollie says with a chuckle and shake of his head as AJ had explained it all perfectly and couldn't agree more. Ollie grins. "Nice! Great choice," Oliver says with a nod. Oliver loved Quidditch; he enjoyed the sport a lot. He grins at AJ's question. "I play when I can, and I enjoy it a lot. I hope to be on the team too. My brother keeps talking about how fun it is to play on the team. It's getting annoying at this point," Ollie says jokingly with a shake of his head, with a small chuckle. He did love his brother, and Oliver wasn't going to admit that he was a little jealous of his older brother, who was able to play for the team at the moment. But Oliver knew that this was going to be his year. "I'm guessing you play too, then?"

@AJ Carpenter

Apolline gave a little smile as the first year replied. Apolline had long grown used to the seats and to the fact they weren't the most comfortable. She opened her mouth to tell the girl that you grew used to it when her gaze flitted to the headmaster and then back. "You know, I think you're right, I'll make a note of it and take it to the head master," she promised. She was head girl, her job was to be the leader and spokesperson to the student body. "I'm Apolline," she replied holding out her hand to her. "It's very nice to meet you,"
@Daviana de Lundin

Arachne listened to what Juniper said about her break. She nodded at Eloise's suggestion, though she felt a bit nervous at the idea of giving her a reading. It was one thing to do it for herself or her parents, but her friends were a different story. Despite knowing she shouldn't, Arachne worried that saying the wrong thing would drive them off. What if a bad reading did the same? "Oh, that's too bad. I would have liked to cheer for you," Arachne said mildly. She had considered trying out herself, her mother used to be on the Quidditch team back when she was at Hogwarts, but the idea of so many eyes on her made her want to crawl into a hole. "Did you bring the new jar with you?" She asked, remembering how Juniper used to carry the old one around everywhere.

@Juniper Veritas @Eloise Flynn

AJ was glad Oliver liked Quidditch too. He felt like he had known this vaguely, but he hadn't gotten to know his roommates as much as he'd wanted last year. "That's cool." He said. "Though I also get why it'd be annoying." He smiled a bit. "Yeah, I play beater. What position do you play?" He sat up straight, eager to talk about his favorite subject. "Maybe we'll both make the team this year, that would be fun."

@Oliver Harper

Ollie had been glad that there had at least been someone else who was interested in Quidditch in some way that he was. Sure, he'd be able to talk about it with his brother, but that got boring fast. Oliver grins. "Beaters fun! I like to play different positions, but I mainly play chaser," Oliver explains with a smile and shrug. He and his brother always seemed to play that position too, so his brother had time to practice when they were home, with passing and such. Oliver nodded at that. "Yeah! I can already picture it," Oliver says jokingly with a grin, but nevertheless he agreed and could actually see them being on the Quidditch team together.

@AJ Carpenter

AJ felt a bit strange when Oliver mentioned he liked to play different positions. AJ was so focused on being a beater, he had sort of assumed everyone had their one Quidditch position they worked on. He smiled and nodded as he said he mainly played chaser. He laughed when Oliver said he could picture it. "Even if we don't make it, maybe we can practice together sometime?" He asked, wondering if this could be a way they could become friends.

@Oliver Harper

Juniper smiled a little when Eloise said she was afraid of heights, so was Juniper. She'd been thinking of maybe trying out for the team to fight against that fear but wasn't so sure yet. "That's okay..." She said softly when the blonde expressed her apologies over the jar she'd lost. It really was okay. "I did, though I think I'll just keep it in the dorm on my bedside table to avoid losing it too..." and to avoid older kids or younger ones even at that to make fun of the silly jar.

@Eloise Flynn @Arachne Westwick

Oliver grins eagerly at his roommate's suggestion. "Yeah! That's a good idea, they'd make a terrible mistake if they don't," Ollie says with a nod and grin, his tone lingering with a joking tone about it being a mistake if they weren't chosen. Deep down, Ollie would love to be on the team; he had to be on the team. But he was happy with the idea of practising with AJ if they did end up not being on the team.

@AJ Carpenter

Eloise didn't mind the idea of not trying out. She preferred watching to being up in the air anyway, so that wasn't a hard option to decide. The Hufflepuff frowned a little as Juniper had said that she was going to keep the jar back in their dorm, though from observation, it seemed there was a little more meaning behind it, but decided not to pry. "I guess that makes sense, at least it'll be kept safely at the dorm. It will take some time to get used to seeing you without your jar, though. I think it's cool! Something to remind you of home," Eloise says with a smile and grin. She sometimes wished she had thought of something like that. To have something that reminds her of home.

Dashley was relieved, more so than anything to be sorted into Slytherin. It meant she would be constantly with her new best friend @Reyna Flores , of course the most ideal outcome for her, and it also meant she wouldn't be sat at the piggy Gryffindor table, where she eyed one of the older students digging their teeth into a piece of chicken like, well, a pig. It caused her brows to furrow in disgust, appetite mostly gone by the time Reyna offered her a few vegetables, but of course she wasn't about to say no to the one person she felt would be a true ally for the next seven years. "Ugh, at least broccoli isn't as gross as chicken." She commented, adding a few different vegetables to her plate. "Could you imagine being sorted into Gryffindor? They're eating like animals." Dash added, gently nudging Reyna with her elbow to garner her attention and nodding in the direction of the Gryffindor table. She truly felt as if she had dodged a bullet, not being sorted into her dad's gross house and instead being given the chance to create her own legacy.

Reyna glanced at the gryffindor table as Dash pointed one of them out. "Oh gross," she said watching as the other older students at that table was shovelling food into them. "Slytherin is much much better," Reyna said with a smile. She had a good amount of vegetables on her plate, and took a glance at the students they'd been sorted with. "did the hat say anything to you?"
