Y51 Start of Year Feast

Eloise was excited to be back at school. She was happy to see her friends and roommates. She was also excited for her upcoming classes and learn new things. The Hufflepuff excitedly took her seat in the great hall before the ceremony began. She had been taken aback by the new presence of the new headmaster. Eloise listened and watched the sorting ceremony, cheering and clapping for each individual new student who had been sorted. It wasn't long before the ceremony had been finished and they were finally able to eat. Eloise waited til the people around her managed to get their share of the food before she went and grabbed her own food. "The new headmaster seems scary dont'cha think?" Eloise whispers to the person next to her, leaning in towards them, so only the person next to her could hear her, though she whispers loud enough for people around her to hear her. He seemed scary and strict if Eloise was being honest.

Declan had a mixture of feelings about being back here. Sure he was happy to see his friends again, not that he had many, but he still missed them. He was not excited about the upcoming lessons that he had to endure. His parents were telling him that he needed to be a bit better with his studies, but they were still lenient with him, which Declan was grateful for. However, Declan was a little worried about his pet tarantula. Little Will seemed a little different during the break, and Declan wasn't sure why. Maybe he should've gotten Little Will checked out before he went to school, but that was a little too late for that now. Declan had barely paid attention to what was happening around him until he noticed the food appear on the table. Declan quickly grabbed his food and ate. He looked around the great hall and he frowned in confusion as he looked at the staff table. "Did I miss something? Since when did we get a new headmaster?"

Oliver was excited to be back at school. He had enjoyed his first year at Hogwarts and was hoping that this year would be just as fun. He hoped to make better connections at school this year, since he felt that he didn't make many last year. Ollie had been excited to tell his younger sister, Riley, about Hogwarts, like his older brother, Theo, had been with him. Oliver knew it wouldn't be long until his sister joined him and their brother. The Gryffindor watched the sorting ceremony, clapping along with the rest of the Great Hall when a student was sorted. Food had then finally appeared onto the table, which Ollie had been excited for. "Have a good break at all? Anything exciting you have planned for the coming year?" Oliver asked the person next to him curiously.

Honestly? Juniper was still a little bit shaken about all the shopping she'd had to do. It had been scary, but she'd made it through. The Hufflepuff knew that they'd have a new headmaster, however when they arrived to the Great Hall her brown eyes went wide. The man looked nothing short of scary. Juni felt immediately bad for thinking he looked scary and settled to sit down next to Eloise. Once the ceremony was over Juni took some food to her plate and as she was staring at it considering on eating she heard her roommate whisper something to her. "A little bit yeah... do you think he is mean?" Juni agreed quietly without hesitation, but right after the words left her mouth she turned to look at the blonde with wide eyes and slapped a hand over her mouth. "Does it make me a bad person to ask that?" She mumbled through her hand worriedly.

Deep down, Henry still thought he was being pranked. Like someone had made this elaborate plan and was gonna come out of somewhere and scream that it was a prank. That hadn't come yet, and it was making him nervous. Henry hadn't done much research or reading about the wizarding world. which Henry thought he should've done. But he was here now, and he was sure that there were some decent books about the magical world in the library, but he guessed he could also ask the people around him about it all. Henry sat near the end of the Hufflepuff table after he was sorted. He wondered what the professors and his classmates, as well as his housemates, were like. He watched the rest of the ceremony before the food finally appeared on the table. Henry followed what everyone else was doing around him and grabbed some food for himself. He started to eat some of the food, before turning to an older student that was near by, or so he assumed they were an older student, Henry wasn't sure. "Is it true that Muggle technology doesn't work in the magical world?" Henry asked. He wondered how else he was supposed to contact his family. Letters seemed like they'd take forever and sounded exhausting.

Kyousuke was in a weird frame of mind. Pride, that was one element of it - but a certain loneliness. He'd achieved what he'd wanted - he was head boy, of course - but now an emptiness had set in. He guessed maybe he still wasn't over Hazel, but maybe he just missed her company even as a friend. Kyousuke fought back a sigh and surveyed the new Slytherins. Hopefully they'd be pulling their weight - what an embarrassment, to not win the cup last year. The new headmaster? He had few thoughts. It seemed unimportant. Ultimately, all Kyousuke needed was a fresh start (again) and to get the grades necessary to move forward post-Hogwarts. That was all. He just wished he knew when his ambitions had left him so empty.

Eloise let out a quiet sigh of relief when her roommate agreed with her, glad that it wasn't just her who had thought that. The Hufflepuff followed suit, and her own eyes widened in surprise as she watched Juniper cover her mouth at what she had said, before Eloise giggled a little. She quickly shook her head. "No, I don't think that makes you a bad person. You're just curious," Eloise says with a shrug and reassuring smile. Eloise looked back at the new headmaster for a split second before turning back to her roommate. "He does seem maybe... a little mean... But I guess we're about to find out"

Lena was feeling somewhat at home as she returned to the castle. There were plenty of new faces, as many of her former colleagues had left since she last set foot inside Hogwarts, but some remained the same. She had been spending the first part of the day getting her class area set up. It was a much different setting than Arithmancy, but it was much preferred. Margot had been of little help, but after returning her youngest to her grandmother, Lena made her way to the Great Hall, giving her oldest daughter a wave once she made eye contact. It was different this time around as well because she would have her daughter in class. Trying not to think too much about it, she took her seat at the table and watched the sorting ceremony, enjoying seeing such emotion from each student as they were sorted into their home for the next seven years. After the sorting and speeches concluded, Lena started serving herself from the food at the professor's table, giving the person next to her a smile. "Don't you just love the start of the year?" she asked them.

Charlotte wasn't too worried about the year ahead of her, unlike many of her classmates. Grades were important, sure, but she was not going to stress about things like some of the top students did. She just wanted to have a good year and spend time with her friends. The fifth year took a seat at the Hufflepuff table and applauded the new members of her house. Eventually, one sat next to her. "Yeah, but we also have magical versions that work instead. Are you worried about something specific?" she asked, pretty familiar with muggle tech herself. @Henry Collins

AJ was feeling a little sad about being back at Hogwarts, even if he tried to look pleased about the food and the feast. The new headmaster brought a whole different vibe to the ceremony and AJ wasn't sure he liked it. But most of all, he missed his family. Being together again over break had been great, even if his siblings sometimes drove him mad, but now he felt alone again. And Hogwarts wasn't as shiny and new as it had been last year. He would just have to make the best of it. He looked up as one of his roommates spoke to him. He put on a smile. "Yeah my break was great, what about yours?" he asked in return as he loaded food onto his plate. "I'm mostly hoping to make the Quidditch team, maybe join a club. What about you?"

@Oliver Harper

Arachne had been listening quietly to Eloise and Juniper as they chatted, frowning at the Headmaster. She was sure her parents had mentioned a Professor Styx before, though she wasn't sure if it was the same one. She shook her head slightly at Juniper's question, not taking her eyes off the figure at the staff table. "No, you're not a bad person. He does look mean," she said quietly. "I think you're both right." As horrible as it made her feel, something about him made her think of Nessie. Which was why she felt so strange about it. Finally, she tore her eyes away. "I think we should be careful around him," she said in a quiet voice.

@Eloise Flynn @Juniper Veritas

Juniper relaxed slightly when Eloise said she wasn't a bad person and Arachne seemed to agree. That was a relief. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind staying out of his line of sight..." Juniper agreed with the both, daring a small glance at the Headmaster. "How were your holidays? Did you do anything fun?" She asked the girls softly, trying to steer the conversation to something lighter, something that felt less like the doomsday.

@Eloise Flynn @Arachne Westwick

Henry perked up a little as the older girl had mentioned that there were magical versions or alternatives to Muggle technology, which got Henry a little hopeful. He wondered where you could get these magical alternatives from. "Are there like cellphones or like a magical computer to contact your family at all? Letters seem like they'd take ages going back and forth," Henry asked and explained to the older girl. If he was being honest, Henry didn't have the patience to wait for letters from his family.

@Charlotte Astor Williams

Being named head girl had felt a little odd, she wasn't sure if it was the new or old headmaster who had done it. if it was the former then she had no worries, but the latter, then she did. Should she go to the head master, say hi and introduce herself. She glanced towards the man as he began speaking, though unsurprisingly his speech was short and to the point, not unlike the previous one, but this one didn't feel nearly as friendly. Apolline nodded lightly and then glanced at the food. She glanced at some of the first years. "Hi, welcome to Hogwarts, how was the train ride?" she asked.

Winnie felt very happy to have been named prefect. She'd been a wreck over the break waiting for that letter to come in, her parents too. She had gotten it and felt a weight lifted off her shoulders, one much more pressing than the one from her upcoming owls. OWLS she could do, something unpredictable like being made a prefect was less set in stone. Winnie glanced at the head master, glad for the sharp nature of his speech. She glanced at the food, looking at what was being offered that day.

Eloise nodded in agreement. "I think I'd like to avoid him as much as possible. He looks like he could appear out of nowhere," Eloise theorised quietly. She felt a little bad for saying it, but he did, in fact, seem scary. She wondered what the headmaster was going to be like and wondered if he was going to make any sort of changes to the school. Eloise listened as Juniper spoke, and Eloise smiled and shrugged at the question. "Eh, it was alright. I tried to convince my brother to help me with Quidditch, but I don't really think it went that well. It's still a weird concept to me," Eloise explained with a shrug and small smile, flashing back to the school break. "How about you guys?"

@Juniper Veritas @Arachne Westwick

Henri had a book in front of him, he'd had it there the whole time that the sorting had been happening. He had no one he knew being sorted and thus had no interest in what was happening with it. Instead he was much more preoccupied with the book he'd found at a second hand bookstore in the muggle world with his mum. He had it in front of him, not hiding it, and only shifting it a little as food appeared. and in doing so, accidentally knocking over a jug of water on the person in front of him.

Oliver grinned and nodded as his roommate explained about his break, "Yeah, my break was good. It was good to see my family, though, especially my little sister. It was nice seeing her, even though she can be annoying at times," Oliver says with a small mutter and a shake of his head. But it was true, though. It had been the first time being away from his sister, and she had been by herself during the school year while he and his older brother were here. He couldn't imagine what it would be like being by yourself while being away from your siblings. Ollie grinned excitedly at the mention of Quidditch. "Oh yeah?! That's cool! I'm hoping to try out too. Any position you are eyeing out for?"

@AJ Carpenter

Magne almost felt unsteady on stable, non-floating ground. He had spent all of his time on his family's boat, and it had been so very nice. He was sure that it would always be nice, that he'd never grow tired of it. He'd begun talking to his father about muggle univeristy and mixing that with more formal magical training. Magne glanced towards the head master and to the new head of slytherin before he just began filling his plate with food.

Nico was very excited for this semester of the school. He knew it would be really fun to have his dad be a professor at the school, if only temporarily, and having his cousin too would be nice. He was happy she was in the house with him, knowing his dad would be happy he could keep an eye on her. Nico smiled and waved at his father and then just focused on the food as it appeared. "Good break?" he asked the person next to him.

Merrire had been a little surprised by her sorting, she hadn't really expected to end up in Ravenclaw of all places, but she was one. She glanced at the other newly sorted students and to the rest of the table, waving a little at her cousin before looking more towards her uncle at the professor's table and to the head master. She glanced as the food appeared, feeling a little overwhelmed and letting others go first since she didn't want to accidentally take anything that was technically someone elses.

Daiki was thankful to be back at school for another semester. He was looking forward to what this year would bring him and trying his best to not be too concerned with his OWLs. he was sure he'd be fine and stressing over them wouldn't do him any good anyway. He looked to the headmaster, and nodded lightly, before he just focused on the food and to Kairi, offering her some of the things he knew she liked.

Tiernan did not care about where first years ended up. He hadn't cared when he nd his twin were sorted, so he was not about to care now. Absolutely not. Tiernan decided to just lay his head on the table, and just half let himself doze as things were happening, only moving when finally they were allowed to eat.

Reyna was happy at the Slytherin table, she knew this was the right house for her, and even more so was pleased that Dash had been sorted with her. While she'd just met the other girl she knew this would the friendship for her. Everyone else was going to be....boring and terrible and she was ready to reign over others. Reyna glanced around as the food appeared and she found something healthy in amongst the gross food. "Do you want some vegetables?" she asked Dash pushing the plate towards the other girl after she'd served herself.
@Dashley Renner

Professor Calida had spent a good amount of time over the break working on her book, it was just about finished, she'd written and re-written it until it felt ready, ready for another person to finally have a proper read of it. She was very glad for her role allowing her the time and space to work on it. She glanced towards the new headmaster, a man she remembered from her time at school, and she couldn't help but wonder how the years under his tenure would be. Minnie's gaze moved to the students, and to her...to Winnie at the slytherin table, relieved to see a prefect badge on her chest. Perhaps Winnie would do everything Minnie had failed to do. She tried to not feel a little hurt by it. Minnie tore her gaze away and just focused on helping herself to food.
