Y49 Dueling Match #27

[Professor Killian Borisyuk]

Killian might not have been able to duel when he was a kid - due to his giant genes, this was the next best thing. He did wonder how dueling was in Hogwarts New Zealand versus the dueling that was over in Durmstrang. Only time would tell. He signed up again this year to help proctor the dueling matches. At least if a spell went sideways and hit him, he will likely not feel it. "Choose opposite ends of the stage. When you are ready, bow to your opponent, and begin. Whoever wins will advance." Killian took a step back and folded his arms across his chest to witness the chaos.​

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Christa had been a little surprised to win her last duel, but she was excited to keep going, so she bowed to Miles and then cast her first spell, hoping for an early win. "Expelliarmus!"

Not only had Miles managed to win in the first round, he had also managed to get an automatic bye through the second round. Now he was only one duel away from making it to the finals, and now he had got so close, he was determined to make it all the way. "Good luck!" He called cheerfully down the platform to his fellow housemate before offering her a bow. Christa was the first to act, but Miles still had enough time to throw up a shield before he turned his trusty wand on his opponent, "Stupefy!"

She liked Miles well enough, she didn't really hang out with him much, but that was more because they sort of ran in different circles. Christa spent more time trying to work out how magic worked than really spending time with other people sort of outside of her roommates, which was probably a shame really. "Protego! Uh, Petrificus Totalis!"

There was always some disappointment when the first spell didn't hit, but he was also a little pleased because that meant he got to duel some more. "Protego!" He was quick to block the next spell heading his way before once more turning his wand on the other Gryffindor, "Expelliarmus!"

Christa shook herself off as his spell hit her shield, one she'd quickly put up as soon as she heard the spell leave his mouth. She quickly cast "Locomotor mortis" at him, hoping that might trip him up a little.

Duelling had a flow to things that Miles was still trying to get used to, but he was still prepared to throw up a shield charm to protected himself. Though, he hesitated just a moment for the counter-attack, hoping to try and break up the normal flow of things for just a moment in the hopes to try and throw Christa off. And only after a moment did he send a Slug Vomiting Curse at the girl.

She saw the curse coming before she heard it, bringing her arm up to defend against it, glad it didn't hit her. She wasn't sure she would be able to deal with a slug vomiting curse. She quickly thought about her to counter attack, what about the jelly legs jinx? She tries that one instead.

It was rather disappointing that his attempt to try and throw her off the flow of things hadn't worked out, but he was still determined to win this duel. Once more he put up a shield, getting increasing aware of his growing fatigue as he once sent another stunning spell across the platform.

Christa had managed to get this far she didn't see why she couldn't go the whole way, right? She just had to get through this. She managed to block his stunning spell and then tried to knock him off of the platform with Everte Statum.

None of his attacks seemed to be working and he was growing more and more frustrated the longer this duel went on. Not to mention how aware he was getting of his growing tiredness. So, he decided to try and save some energy as he ducked under the next spell, letting it whizz safely over the top of his head before he straightened and aimed, "Petrificus Totalus!"

Christa was distracted, not like she meant to be, but it seemed like Miles was tired, and that gave her some energy for herself honestly. She quickly dodged out of the way of his spell and hit back with the levitation spell, trying to levitate his wand out of his hands.

There was a spark of hope as he made Christa have to dodge out of the way of his next spell. He could still do this, he just had to focus. He had to admit that trying to make his wand levitate out of his hand was quite a smart attempt, but he made sure to put up a shield charm for himself before he cast a quick Rictusempra.
