Killian might not have been able to duel when he was a kid - due to his giant genes, this was the next best thing. He did wonder how dueling was in Hogwarts New Zealand versus the dueling that was over in Durmstrang. Only time would tell. He signed up again this year to help proctor the dueling matches. At least if a spell went sideways and hit him, he will likely not feel it. "Choose opposite ends of the stage. When you are ready, bow to your opponent, and begin. Whoever wins will advance." Killian took a step back and folded his arms across his chest to witness the chaos.​

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

She'd seen him in class enough to know a little about him, but he wasn't who she was really after. She had so much to prove and so little time to do it, now wasn't the time to play games. "Good luck," she said to Teddy, before taking her stance and then deciding on her first spell. The jelly brain jinx.

Winning duels was kind of Teddy's thing, he was defending champion two years running to prove it, but it was nice of Aurora to wish him luck nonetheless. He didn't really have the measure of the transfer yet, she was obviously good in class but they'd not spoken much. Teddy smiled at her, "Good luck to you too." He blocked the jelly brain hex then sent "Silencio!" The fifth years had not been taught non-verbal magic yet to get around this spells effect.

"Protego!" As if she was going to let this duel end so early, what did he think she was, a rookie? There were many things they didn't have at Hogwarts in Scotland, including all the dances, but what that meant was they had plenty of more time to practice duelling. In retaliation she sent the conjunctivitis curse at him. He can't try to hit her if he can't see her.

So Aurora can duel, that much was obvious. Teddy was impressed with what he'd seen so far. He blocked the conjunctivitis curse that had felt powerful "Yeah I can be doing without conjunctivitis thanks!" He joked then cast, "Confundo!".

"You're right, I'm really nice to look at," she agreed, running with whatever joke he was making, she was good friends with Theo after all, he would have never forgiven her if she didn't flirt a little with her opponent, even if Teddy wasn't really her type at all. She wasn't a brunette girl, she was a blonde girl. "Protego, Impedimenta!"

Teddy grinned, he was not above a bit of flirting on the dueling platform even if he wasn't very good at it, especially with girls he didn't know well. He blocked the next spell then said, "Well yeah, and on that point, I apologise in advance this, Furnunculus!".

"Well, ain't you sweet?" Blasting her with Furnunculus was simply uncalled for, and she quickly blocked it, as if she would allow such a spell to take her out, boils on her face? No thank you. For the crime of even suggesting such a thing, she aims the bat-bogey hex at him.

She deflected his spell, glad she'd been paying attention to his movements so she could get an idea of what he's going to cast at her before he did it. "What, nothing to say? Sorry I'm boring you Mr. Prefect," She said, before spinning into another "Impedimenta!"

Dante Styx watched his future opponents duel, but let's face it, he was only here to see Aurora duel and maybe win. He would love to face off with her during the official tournament. But, then he heard her flirting with her opponent, Teddy Pirrip. Someone that Dante actually did not mind. There was a huge knot in his stomach as he leaned back in his seat. Was she a flirt with everyone? Was Dante himself not special? Never would he think that he would be so bothered by this exchange. So, he didn't say a word. He didn't know what color flag to wave. Maybe they will both knock each other out at the same time.​

Teddy didn't really know Aurora but she seemed to want to chat which surprised him as they hadn't really spoken before. He smirked when she asked if he found her boring, he didn't think that but now she'd said it, he ran with it, "Maybe I should start calling you Bore-ora Chase." He teased, blocking her spell then sending out the big guns. "Diffindo!"

How dare he. As if she was boring ever, that was just plain rude. Well, time to show up or show out, she supposed. She blocked his cutting charm swiftly. "And perhaps I should call you Perfect Prince Pirrip, shall I? I've heard you're good at everything and you always get the most points, must be hard, trying to live in your own shadow all of the time." She said before trying to hit him with Silencio.

Teddy knew he had touched a nerve and suddenly the duel was much more fun than it had been. He clutched his chest as if physically wounded by Bore-ora’s comeback. He didn’t think the nickname she'd given was quite as catchy as the one he'd given her. "Tis a burden being as devastatingly talented as I am, but I think I make it work." He blocked Silencio, wondering why on earth Bore-ora wanted to shut him up. He returned casting “Obscuro!” Maybe not being able to see him would be welcome, "You know, I think you'd get on well with Veronica Walden-Cade. She doesn't have a sense of humour either." He teased.

Devastatingly Talented? As if. Aura was annoyed she'd let him steam her, as if she'd allow anyone to steam her except Dante. This annoying Prefect needed to go. "Devastatingly talented or someone who doesn't know themselves well enough to pick a lane?" She asked, blocking his blinding charm, deftly before spinning into a Leek Jinx. Let he simmer with that. She had a little idea of her Veronica was just in passing, but had never spoken to the girl. "Is she your girlfriend or something?"

Audrey was so relieved she wasn't up against Teddy for once, and she took the opportunity to perch in the stands and watch briefly around her own duel. She didn't know Aurora well, but from what she'd seen in classes the other girl was kind of boring. The kind of 'recite textbook definitions to show off to professors' kind of boring. That was so first year. Audrey's sucking up to professors was totally different, obviously. "Kick her a**, Teddy!" she called. It was nice to actually root for her best friend to win a duel for a change. Plus, Audrey wanted revenge in the final.

Teddy snorted at the girlfriend comment, "Why are you asking that? Are you interested or something?" He replied, Veronica was way off Teddy's type and so was Bore-ora as well. He blocked the leek jinx then grinned when Audrey called out from the crowd. Teddy gave her a smile, before sending the Knee-reversing hex at Boreora.

"Is she blonde? I prefer blondes so I'm sorry you don't make the cut," she said, blocking the next jinx with ease. She wished he would send her something a bit more exciting than trying to ruin her looks. She had a boy to win the affection of after all. "Incendio!" She said, aiming at his robes.

Teddy shrugged, not impressed with the shallowness of only being interested in blondes, "Any hair colour is possible if you're good enough at Charms," Teddy had been in an easy routine but he was caught off by the fire singing his robes. He made a very uncool yelp and quickly threw off his robes and tossed them to one side before he was engulfed. He tried to play it cool like it was no big deal, "Or you know, you could just have no hair at all," He commented then sent the Instant Scalping hex towards her.

"That's cheating though," she said, celebrating slightly when he had to throw off his robes. She shouldn't have been too happy though, because the moment he recovered he shot another spell back at her, and she'd been a little too distracted by getting a hit in and suddenly having him comment on her hair that she missed the shield and suddenly found herself completely hairless. She shrieked, her hands going up to touch her head, now BALD, and the hair on her arms, her legs, her eyebrows, all of it was gone. Was there a potion to regrow hair? Would she be able to use it? How was this not a Dark Curse spell? She swallowed, her eyes pricking with tears, "That was.... completely un... uncalled for..."

Theo had been waiting for his own duel to begin so he'd elected to watch his dear Aura's against the President. It had seemed to be going well for both sides, and while he liked the President, he was firmly cheering on Aura for this one since she was one of his friends even before coming to New Zealand. He'd let out a whoop as Aura set the President's robes on fire, but his jaw dropped at the spell that hit the Slytherin. "WE'LL REGROW IT DARLING, JUST HEX HIS B**** OFF BEAUTIFUL!" He was pretty sure there was a hair lengthening charm, and surely the nurse or the Potions professor would have something to reverse this.​

Teddy looked shocked by the instant scalping hex and how thorough it was with removing apparently every hair on her body, not just her head. He felt a bit weird about having done that and he probably would have used a different spell in hindsight. "Oh Merlin sorry! In my defense, I wasn’t expecting it to be that effective." He'd never used the spell on a person before and took a step back, surprised how much bald did not suit her. Hearing Theo in the crowd, he agreed it would grow back, not so much about his b****. "Here, I can help, hold still." He raised his wand "Expelliarmus" By help, he meant end the duel so she could have the spell effects corrected by a professional.

Now Aura was just p*ssed off. She glared at him as he spoke, not believing he was sorry for a single second, sorry didn't bring her hair back and maybe he shouldn't have been using spells he had no experience with. That was both incredibly dangerous and incredibly stupid, but at least she knew what side of the intelligence he was on, clearly not the smart side. She gripped her wand, tears still pricking her eyes as she blocked his cheating spell. "Try to help? Really, how about you take a dive off the back of the platform instead?" She asked, throwing out Everte Statum instead.

Teddy couldn't take Aurora seriously with a bald head and found it hard not to laugh just looking at her. At the same time, he was impressed that she was still here fighting while in that condition, and also disappointed that she hadn't fallen for his disarming trick. He blocked, then kindly offered help in another form, "Can I offer my singed robes to put over your head?" He asked, "Stop you getting chilly." Then he sent his next spell. "Petrificus Totalus!"

Aura was getting physically tired, this duel was taking a lot of her energy, especially since she'd been hit by a spell, well she and Teddy both by now. She just glared at him when he asked if she wanted his robes, because no she absolutely did not. "I wouldn't want people to mistake me for a Gryffindor," she sneered, disgusted. "Merlin how embarrassing." She added, shaking her head at him. She shielded from his spell, slower than usual, she thought, this duel was dragging now. She sent the stinging hex at him.
