Killian might not have been able to duel when he was a kid - due to his giant genes, this was the next best thing. He did wonder how dueling was in Hogwarts New Zealand versus the dueling that was over in Durmstrang. Only time would tell. He signed up again this year to help proctor the dueling matches. At least if a spell went sideways and hit him, he will likely not feel it. "Choose opposite ends of the stage. When you are ready, bow to your opponent, and begin. Whoever wins will advance." Killian took a step back and folded his arms across his chest to witness the chaos.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

@Professor Edward Pirrip vs @Professor Gabrielle Moncrieffe

It was somewhat amusing to Gabrielle that her duel was being proctored by her neighbouring professor, though she was certain that Killian would not show any favoritism one way or the other. She had rather gotten back into dueling over the past couple of years. It was more for demonstrative purposes than anything, she felt, and although there was technically a title on the line she thought it was more important to put on a good show for the students. She bowed to Edward - a man she didn't know too well but seemed pleasant enough, and cleared her throat. "Now, don't go changing me into a canary or anything," she joked, quirking an eyebrow. "I've been working hard on intimidating the students, and I can't lose that reputation in one fell swoop." With an elegant wave of her wand, Gabrielle punctuated her sentence with a wordless Levicorpus.

Proctoring duels had been fun, but now it was Edward's turn to have his own fun on the platform. He faced Gabrielle and bowed to her. She was a talker as it turned out, "Oh so you would like me to go easy on you?” He teased. Edward reacted to the first draw, wordlessly deflecting the Levicorpus. "You weren't kidding about that reputation." He readied himself then cast his first wordless spell which was Incarcerous.

Gabrielle smirked. She'd never been very good at being friendly and affable, but she at least owed it to her daughter to try. She'd been here long enough to not have much of an excuse. She deflected the ropes with a diffindo spell, always finding that a bit more fun and flashy than simply blocking (and it being a good example for the students) and shot out an obscuro spell in response. She had no doubt Edward was experienced enough to deal with it if it got through his defences, but it was worth a shot.

Edward liked her style. He cleared away the obscuro spell and now suitably warmed up, decided to incorporate Transfiguration magic into the duel, it would be a good opportunity to demonstrate other uses to students. He pointed his wand at Gabrielle's robes and cast a non-verbal spell to turn all her buttons into beetles. Though unlikely to win him the duel, he hoped it would be distracting having beetles crawling all over her..

Oh, he was clever, thought Gabrielle. She was a little too slow to defend and shuddered a little at the beetles crawling over her. Reminded her of finding her way through ruins back when she was younger. At least they weren't leeches. Those were the worst. She had expected he'd have the advantage over her on transfigurative magic, but he'd find her no pushover. "Ha! And I told students that that wasn't a useful spell..." she said, guiding the button beetles off her with a non-verbal oppugno to set them on Edward instead. At least it wasn't her good robes.
