Professor Styx led the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He informed them of the rules, the points, and made sure they were aware of what not to do. He instructed, "Begin."
OOCOut of Character:
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun! Be creative!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Todd's time at Hogwarts was drawing to a close much quicker than he was comfortable with, and the Ravenclaw really wanted to take home dueling champion before he graduated in a few months. This was his last chance and he was up against the reigning champion first. He readied himself, bowing to her then casting quickly, hoping to take an early advantage, "Incarcerous"

This would be it, then. Yuelia's final duels in Hogwarts. She had nothing else to be proud of, although she had enjoyed spending some time in the arts club and wild patch club this year. But dueling was her thing, and there was no way she was letting a boy best her. She bowed to Todd, her gaze immediately turning from gentle to steely as she blocked the first spell with a silent protego. With a haughty tilt of her head, she pointed her wand at him. "Avis," she said, clearly, conjuring up a small flock of bluebirds around Todd.

Todd was unsettled bythe birds circling above him. They weren’t attacking yet, but he could feel Yuelia was itching to give the order. “Sorry about this,” Todd said with a half smile, aiming his wand at the birds and casting “Duro,” turning them to stone mid flight. Not missing a beat, he non-verbally banished the stone birds in Yuelia's direction.

Yuelia's lips twitched into a frown, giving an overall sad sort of look as the birds were turned to stone and then turned into projectiles. "My birds," she said, quietly, before putting up a shield to block the stone coming her way. "How cruel of you. I shall make you their replacement." She cast a canary transfiguration hex in response. It would only be a short term transfiguration, but she only needed a moment.

Penelope had no interest in dueling herself, but she was very eager to support her boyfriend. She was in the audience, sitting on the edge of her seat. She cheered a little when Todd turned the birds into stone, though she didn't want to be too loud and distract him.

Todd gave Yuelia a puzzled look as he dodged the canary hex. "I do apologise," he said, feeling a twinge of guilt as she was upset about the birds. As he glanced around, his eyes landed on Penny, and his heart did a little flip. He smiled at her, touched that she'd come to support him, though also nervous she'd she him lose. Hoping not to embarrass himself, Todd fired off his next spell, "Levicorpus!"

Yuelia didn't fail to see Todd looking at Penelope in the crowd and felt a strange twinge of jealousy. Not for anything towards either of them, but rather for what they had. Chaos had treated her so cruelly, and now Yuelia had a renewed steel in her gaze. She non-verbally blocked the next spell, before tilting her head. "Something in the crowd more interesting, is it?" she taunted, silently casting a slug-vomiting curse. It was especially vulgar, and not really her style, but she was only human.

Yuelia’s taunt caught Todd off guard. He opened his mouth to reply but before the words even formed, something far more troubling did. There was a strange, queasy feeling in his stomach moments before the first slug erupted from his mouth. It was disgusting, and Todd groaned between heaves. His wand clattered to the floor as he doubled over. He knew that meant the duel was over but right now he had a bigger problem to deal with.

Penelope put her hands over her mouth when she realized she was probably distracting Todd, but it was too late. The next spell hit, Penelope gasped loudly. She rushed out of the stands and tried to approach the stage to help Todd. "Todd!" She called, feeling upset at Yuelia for using such a horrible spell.
 
Styx watched the two duel, and then the Slytherin had to cast out that curse. He held his hand up to stop anyone from coming up to the stage, and released the curse from Todd himself, and then announced Yuelia as the winner. To him, this was sort of anticlimactic.
