Hiro was pleased he had been asked to help proctor the duelling tournament again. It was something quite fun to do and he enjoyed watching the students and seeing what kind of tactics they could come up with. He was hoping to see some really good duels this year as well, smiling at the two students either side of him before clearing his throat. "Welcome to your first duel. The rules are quite simple and the winner will be moving on to the next round. But please try and keep everything above board, we want to avoid as many trips to the hospital wing as possible." While he knew it would happen, he'd rather no one got seriously injured. "If you both understand, then please bow to your opponent and you may begin!"

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Salem wasn't quite sure what she was doing up here on the duelling platform. She'd always just watched Indi and Elara compete in the past, but it being their last year and all, she figured what was the harm really. Except for maybe taking a jinx to the face, but she'd cross that bridge when she came to it. First things first though, Salem bowed to Lucie before trying to knock her back with a reducto spell.

Lucie's only reason why she was doing dueling again this year was because it was her last. She was tired, especially from Quidditch, but she would power through as much as she could. As Lucie saw Salem step up to the podium with her, she raised her eyebrows a little, unsure how good the girl would be as she had never gone up against her before. As soon as they bowed however, Salem was quick to start, sending a spell Lucie's way that she managed to block with a simple flick of her wrist. "Tarantallegra." she said quickly, starting off with the easier spells.

Salem thought hard, what would Indi do here? In fact she was thinking so hard she nearly missed Lucie casting her next spell, hurriedly stepping out of the way and landing a little awkwardly. Maybe it would work in her favour as she threw an obscuro charm towards Lucie in return.

Lucie smirked as she managed to somehow put Salem off a little, watching as the girl had to step away from her spell. She didn't want this to lose her focus however, so stayed on edge as Salem sent another spell her way, easily blocking it with a flick of her wrist. She then non-verbally sent a stinging hex, eager to win this round.

Salem wasn't ready for the non-verbal spell at all, taking the sting hex full force to the chest and hissing uncomfortably as pain rippled across her skin. "Ow, jeez, ow hah, ouch," she muttered, trying to focus and sending a vague disarming spell towards Lucie as she rubbed at her sternum uncomfortably with her other hand.

Lucie smirked again as her spell had successfully hit Salem. She was doing quite well this duel and was confident she could take it all of the way to the end. She successfully blocked the girl's disarming charm before sending a simple bat-bogey hex her way. No need to waste the harder spells if she was already doing so well.
