Y41 Duelling Match #3

[Professor Angel Castillo]

@Jingyi Huang vs @Felix Carnahan

Angel stretched as he stepped up to the duelling platform, motioning to the two students to join him at opposite ends before surveying the crowd. Content everyone looked ready, he addressed the gathered students. "Welcome to your first round of duelling, let's have a nice clean duel today. The victor will be able to continue on to the rest of the tournament, and the loser will sadly be eliminated. When you're ready, please bow to your opponent and begin!" He said with a flourish, letting the students get started.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Jingyi was quite excited about the duelling this time. Now he knew he was capable of winning, he wanted to win again and just keep winning. He bounced a little from foot to foot as he stood at one end of the platform, eyes looking across at his opponent. "Good luck!" He offered brightly with a smile before bowing forward. But the second he straightened he whipped his wand towards the other boy, "Expelliarmus!"

Felix was excited but a bit nervous to try dueling for the first time. He wasn't sure exactly what to expect and he had been going over different spells in his head all day so he wouldn't forget them once he was up there. He nodded to the professor as he explained the rules and bowed. He was a bit slow and had to dodge out of the way of the first spell. That wasn't a good sign. But he raised his wand and cast his first spell. "Locomotor Mortis!"

[Sawyer Carnahan]

Sawyer figured he should probably be more concerned for Felix entering the duelling tournament but considering Felix played seeker he wasn't sure there was much that could happen to him on the platform that would be worse than taking a bludger or two. Plus Sawyer had been tempted to jinx his brother more than once so he liked to think of this as a little karmic justice as he got to sit back and relax while Felix got to work slinging a few spells back and forth.

He was a little pleased that he was already having to make the other boy move to dodge his spells, but Jingyi wasn't going to let it get to his head. Instead, he remained forcused, shouting a shield charm to protect himself from the first spell spent his way. Grinning as the spell bounced harmlessly off his shield, he thought for only a moment before deciding on his next spell, "Stupefy!"

Felix was ready this time as Jingyi cast his next spell. Reflexively he raised his wand and cast a shield charm just in time before casting a jelly finger curse right back.

The other boy was still standing, but that was okay, Jingyi still had time. Once again casting protego to protect himself, it was Felix himself who gave him the idea for his next spell, the Gryffindor grinned just a little and he shot back a Jelly Legs Jinx.

Felix felt a moment of relief after he cast his spell but it only lasted a moment as Jingyi blocked it. He was able to block with a shield charm as well but froze when it came time to cast another spell. "Uh...tarantallegra!" he cast finally.

The long pause from the other boy gave Jingyi plenty of time to get up another shield charm, but he still couldn't help but grin a little. "Do you want some suggestions?" He called out rather cheerily once he had dropped his shield. "Petrificus Totalus!"

Felix's timing was getting all off. He had been so relieved to cast his last spell that he wasn't ready to block when the next spell was headed right toward him. He was able to duck out of the way at the last second but he had to wave his arms to keep his balance. "No I'm good." he said, his voice sounding a bit higher than he intended. He took a moment to catch his breath before moving quickly to cast his next spell. "Expelliarmus!"

Jingyi almost felt bad for the other boy. Almost. Not enough to make him want to go easy on him or anything. "If you say so!" He simply responded before quickly protecting himself with another shield charm. The next spell was already in his head as he aimed at the other boy, almost hoping to end this quickly. "Stupefy!"

Felix was getting tired and it finally caught up to him. In a moment of hesitation, he moved to slow to raise his wand or move out of the way. The stunning spell made direct contact and he felt his entire body freeze up before falling over. He just hoped someone would help him up soon.

Angel winced as Felix Carnahan took a stunning spell full on, watching the third year hit the deck hard. "Ouch," he said to himself, striding up to the platform. "And that means Jingyi Huang is the victory, congratulations," he announced, stooping over to cast a quick renervate charm before moving to help Felix up. "You should probably get checked out at the hospital wing just in case that hit knocked anything loose."

 

[Sawyer Carnahan]

Sawyer wasn't sure how he felt to see another kid heckling Felix. As much as Felix deserved it, it was only really fun when Sawyer was the one messing with him. It didn't last much longer though, as Felix seemed to react a moment too slow before taking a stunning charm. Sawyer winced as his brother hit the duelling platform unconscious, already standing up and brushing off his robes to go check on him as Professor Castillo called the duel.
