Y40 Duelling Match #1

Lena was glad to assist in proctoring again this year. She had enjoyed watching many students challenge themselves last year, and she while there would many heartbreaks today, she could at least try and keep everyone safe. Alright folks, I want to make sure you all bow before you start, and you should only being using spells your year and below. Keep it clean, and good luck!" she said before taking a step back to watch the students go at it.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Jingyi was as excited as he was confident. He'd been practicing for this, he was sure this dueling stuff was just going to come naturally to him. "Good luck!" He called across the platform at his opponent, a grin on his face as he dipped into a small bow. But he was quick to straighten, wasting no time in his first attack, "Rictusempra!"

Hamish was ready for this. Right? He felt nervous, hoping Seamus was somewhere nearby. He bowed to his opponent, blocking their spell before casting one of his own. "Locomotor Mortis!"

Xinyi had been too afraid to sign up for dueling himself, but he was going to support Jingyi all the way. He showed up to his brothers match, making sure to wear his Gryffindor scarf. He was pleased his brother got the first spell in. Jingyi was so cool.

He was trying hard not to get distracted by his twin standing watching. Now he really couldn't embarrass himself. Blocking the incoming spell with a protego, Jingyi didn't hesitate to fire back with a Stupefy.

This duelling thing was fun, taking the time to grin as he raised his wand again, "Protego!" The boy's next spell bounced harmlessly off his shield meaning Jingyi could drop it again. "Expelliarmus!"

Hamish blocked the spell, not ready to give up so easily. He shot a stunning spell back quickly, hoping he might be fast enough to land a blow.

Jingyi didn't have time to block the next spell, quickly dodging out of the way of it as it came just a little too close to hitting him. But he was still in this, turning his wand back on the boy the other side of the platform, "Tarantallegra!"

Hamish blocked the spell, gritting his teeth, shooting back a quick stunning spell. This wasn't as easy as he'd expected. He almost relished the challenge. He didn't know how this would end, but he was determined to make it a fight.
