Vivienne McAlister made her way into the Great Hall with the rest of the first years, looking around at all of the older students who were staring at the group. She gave a sarcastic wave to one boy who was laughing at something another student had said, then lifted her chin and continued on her way, finally stopping a moment later and positioning herself to where she had a clear view of the Sorting Hat.

"I should have known we wouldn't have to fight a baby dragon in order to be Sorted." she muttered, a flash of annoyance at her brother coursing through her. "Jace, I'm going to hurt you very badly come winter break!"

She didn't have time to stew over the fact that she'd been tricked by her own brother, as the Sorting had just begun. Pushing her irritation aside, she concentrated on what was going on, noting the reaction of each student as he or she was Sorted. Vivienne wished she had a last name that started with a letter at the beginning of the alphabet; however, she forced herself to stand still until:

"Vivienne McAlister!"

With a slight smile pulling at the corners of her mouth, Vivienne made her way up to the stool and sat down to await her destiny.

"Interesting...very interesting. No need to keep you hear very long. I've got it now....Ravenclaw!"

As Dominique made her way through the stretched tables to the front of the hall she spotted a old rusty hat sitting on a stool. She stood there with pride and confidence. For generations and generations her family has only been sorted into one house. Although as the students grew fewer and fewer she started to twirl her thumbs. "Maybe i am not gonna make it. Mother would not be happy." She thought to herself.

Finally it was her turn. Her turn to walk up to the stool and sit down. Her turn to get sorted.

She slowly approached the chair and sat down. She regained her confidence as the sorting hat was placed onto her head.
The time has come.

"Don't you worry. You'll continue the family tradition. Slytherin!"

Elsa Romanes might not have taken her father's name, nor her uncles, but that was because it was obvious who it was. Her father was the murder of some other person, and was in Azkaban for it. So, she was raised by Mikhail Matthias instead, who was, at one point, the Deputy Minister. Elsa had a lot of issues with her family and staying out of the spotlight. Her mother, she never really knew her, so Mikhail was the only one that she knew growing up. Going to HNZ was definitely not her first choice, but she could live with it, she supposed. She waited for her name to be called, and before long, she heard it. Romanes. So much better than Matthias. That name carried much history with it in New Zealand. She walked up to the stool and sat down. She waited for her name to be called. Since neither of her parents went here, she did not know what house she could possibly be in.

"A lot of students don't want to be here, but once they are they find their place and are happy that they came to the school. Or so I've heard. You belong in...Gryffindor!"

Kalila Katsaros was excited to finally come to a magical school. She did not care where, as long as she was learning a bit of magic. A big smile was on her face as she walked into the great hall, and waited for her turn to be sorted. Before too long, her name was called. She walked up and sat down on the stool, and felt the hat on her head. She briefly wondered if this was the same one from the Hogwarts in Europe. Kalila tried to silence her thoughts so that she could hear the hat speak.

"You can try but I can still see into your mind. It's my job, after all! I hope you're not too tied to be in a house that one of your siblings was in because you're a...Ravenclaw!"

Aristides Zhefarovich knew that he would be called, and be one of the last ones to be called. While he would have preferred to go to another school, Aries actually did not really care as long as he learned and could have his own opinions. After the ministry treating his parents the way they did, he did not trust them. Not just New Zealand, but any of them. They were all the same. It took a long time before he was called. His name was complicated, he knew. It came from Greek, and his name meant 'best'. It worked in a way. He finally heard his name after most of the first years were done. He walked up and sat down. His parents were both Ravenclaws, but who knew where he would go.

"You'll be keeping on tradition. Better be...Ravenclaw!"

Jasper Zhefarovich stood with others in his family. He was just like his dad. Quiet. Pretty much silent. His parents neither went to this school, but since his family often went to this school, why not? Jasper looked around to see everyone, to see if there would be a reason to even trust half of the people. Not even half. Maybe three people. Less. Jasper sighed as he watched students, one after another, go get sorted. House after house. It took a while before the 'Z' names were called. He watched as Aristides go get sorted, and then his name was called. He walked up and felt the hat set on top of his brunette hair. He looked over the tables. Which one? His family had a ton of options, and have been in all houses. So, there was no telling when it came down to him.

"Another Zhefarovich? Let's see where you should end up...mmhmm, ooh that would be interesting, now wouldn't it? But no, that's not quite right. Alright, I've got it. Slytherin!"

Jace McAlister, already hungry and tired from the long journey from London to Hogwarts, watched irritably as the Sorting began. He wondered vaguely where his sister Vivienne was going to end up, and was very much not surprised when she was placed into Ravenclaw--it was really the only place she logically belonged, considering the fact that she constantly had her nose in a book and was doing research on one thing or another even during her free time. This, however, wasn't her Sorting now; it was his. A lot of his new friends that he'd already made during the journey to school had already gone to Gryffindor or Ravenclaw--one had even gone into Slytherin--and he was growing more antsy by the minute. After what seemed forever, he finally heard:

"Jace McAlister!"

Jace sauntered up to the stool, looking back at the other students with a smirk on his face. He sat down and grinned even more widely as the Sorting Hat was placed on his head.

"All right, Mr. Hat. Do your thing." he murmured.

"I will! But we both know where you're going to end up, right? It's going to be...Gryffindor!"

Leora was starting to get seriously impatient. Everyone was getting sorted, and her name was yet to be called. It was taking far too long. All she wanted was for the sorting to be over and done with. It was embarrassing to stand in front of the older students while they spectated the sorting. She watched her classmates get sorted, while she wondered what house she would get into.

When Leora heard her name being called out, she headed up to get sorted. It was finally time to find out.

"Don't worry, this'll be worth the wait. It's one of the most important decisions that will be made about you. This decision will impact the next seven years of your life. You'll find your new home in...Slytherin!"

Alfie entered the Great Hall together with his classmates, eager to make friends as quickly as he could. He was a particularly chatty person, and could not wait to make conversation with the others. He took note of some of their faces, as he was bad at remembering names. As the sorting started, Alfie watched as he waited for his turn. He did not mind either of the houses, and was curious to where he belonged to. His mother had told him she would be proud of no matter which house he got sorted into. Once it was his turn, Alfie headed up to get sorted.

"Nothing to say to me? That's ok. I can see everything I need to place you in...Hufflepuff!"

Chloe wasn't at all worried, because she knew in advance what was waiting for her, she had prepared for her whole life, and so she calmly went up the stairs to her hat when her name was mentioned. Chloe Lee This name was given to her by her foster parents when they had taken her from the child. Chloe put the hat on her head waiting for her decision, because she did not know which house would be the right one and which could be called home for the next 7 years, where to find her friends and do everything so that her parents could be even more proud of her.

"You're going to find your home in...Ravenclaw!"

Nia stood with the other students, waiting for her turn. Both her older brothers had been sorted into different houses, making her even more curious as to which one she would be sorted into. Both having been graduated years ago, had often told her about their time in school. Nia was ready. She was ready to learn, and she was ready to excel in her classes. She had a goal, and she was going to work towards it. Running her fingers through her curly hair, Nia turned around, scanning the tables of the different houses.

"Nia Delisha Khan"

Nia went up to the stool determinedly. "I trust you hat, put me where I can excel and be my best."

"Your focus on learning makes you a sure fit for...Ravenclaw!"

Atlas was thrilled to finally be attending Hogwarts and it was made all the better to have her brother by her side. With the train ride in out of the way, there was just the small matter of the sorting ceremony to find out where they would spend their next seven years. Atlas wasn't nervous to find out where she was going but she wasn't thrilled by the idea of being separated from Castle. Atlas waited among the group of first years watching the others get sorted ahead of them, keeping a mental tally of who went there, it was good to pay attention to who was in what house so she knew who to watch out for when she eventually found out where she would land. Eventually it came to their name and Atlas was the first of the twins to be called, she nodded to her brother, wondering if he would soon be joining her at her house table or if they would have to wait until the following day to see each other. Atlas was suddenly filled with a feeling of dread and nervousness as she took her seat on the stool and the hat was slowly dropped to her head.

"Hmmmm....interesting. You are a curious sort, a good gryffindor you would certainly make, plenty of adventurous spirit, but there's something else here....yes....Slytherin,"

Alex walked into the Great Hall behind the rest of his peers. It was such a huge room, and there was so many people! He couldn't believe that this was only a small part of the castle, and if that was the case then there was clearly so very much for him to explore! With a big grin on his face, he stopped at the front of the room and tried to stand by himself while he watched and waited for his turn. It came before long, and he took his spot under the sorting hat, quickly rushing up to the stool before shoving it over his head.

"Well, you are a bit of a mixed bag, there's a little bit of everything here, and while your ambition could do you well in slytherin, I know that you'd be better suited for.....Hufflepuff,"
