Y37 Sorting Ceremony

Rayna reluctantly let Elitsa link with her arm. She definitely would have preferred no physical contact with anyone, but she figured at least this way, she didn't have to bump or touch shoulders with any other First Years. She knew that the two of them would be a force to be reckoned with. Rayna figured if she were with the other quads, then they'd be even more powerful, but she was too angry with them for going before her and Elitsa to want to see their faces at the moment. Rayna couldn't help but let her gaze wander around the room to the other sortees, not really seeing anyone she'd consider herself becoming friends with yet. Rayna rolled her eyes at the over eager kids, waiting impatiently as everyone was sorted before her. Seeing Elitsa being sorted into Ravenclaw was a good sign. She wasn't entirely sure what house she would get, but she knew Ravenclaw was a strong contender and it would be nice to be with Elitsa and Pavlina, but she wouldn't mind being in Slytherin with Naiden either.
Finally, it was her turn, and luckily, there weren't many students she had to elbow past. Rayna took her turn, sitting with the best posture she could on the stool, waiting for the Hat to announce her future.

"Ah, another one of you......another fair split between Ravenclaw and Slytherin....but you have a little more straight ambition and cunning than straight intelligence....best be....Slytherin,"

Martha felt the cool, textured handle of her wand in her pocket as she waited to be called to the platform. Her robes hung a little loose on her small frame - she'd grow into them by the end of the year, her dad had said - but she could hardly mind that they were ill-fitting when they had such amazingly deep pockets. She could have carried all sorts of things in there: sweets, extra socks, small animals. If only they'd been a little wider, she could have stored her books in them as well and never needed to haul around a bag. Well, that would have made walking a little inconvenient, but still-

'Flowers, Martha!'

Martha jumped. She had been so long waiting for this moment, and now it was passing more quickly than she could comprehend it. Hitching up her robes, she climbed the platform and sat down. The seat was still warm. Candles flickered like burning stars above the vast hall, illuminating watchful faces. Martha hoped she would make friends. She would make friends. Making friends was what she did best! She looked up at the dark brim of the hat on her head. It - or was it a he? - would know where to put her. The hat was never wrong.

"I am an it, an object, and yes I am never wrong, but people can change....for you there's a few things here, no ravenclaw, but a little hufflepuff and some slytherin ambition but you'll be best in.....Gryffindor!"

Brittany didn’t really care about the ceremony and wanted to sit down in one of this tables, she atleast hoped to be a slytherin, She rememberers what her friend told her and yet she blocked that memory and tried to listen to the names mentioned, when hearing her name, she stepped forward wishing to be in a house that isn’t annoying she went to sit down and waited for the Sorting hat’s decision...

"I won't look where you do not want me to...but you hope to be a slytherin and well....yes I agree with that.....Slytherin,"

Julien was curious about Hogwarts. He wasn't scared of the new place and the new people, he was actually glad he could leave home for an moment and go on his own adventure. He would miss his mother a bit ofcourse, but not his stepdad and sister. He chose for Hogwarts and not Beauxbatons in the hope that his step sister would not follow him here. And also the history of Hogwarts was way more cool. His aunt worked here so he knew already one person, not that he would hang out with her all the time. Julien left the Hogwarts express with an smile and walked towards the entrance of Hogwarts together with the rest of the students. He liked observing so he looked around to some students to see if he could see something interesting and note it in his writingbook. It was always good to know stuff about people, and he would try to write a piece about his first day here. So he would never forget in case his memory would fail him.

The blonde boy walked in the Great Hall and was blown away by the ceiling, it was beautiful. He than was a bit distracted and almost tripped against someone. He than followed the rest to the front and waited until his name was getting called. There were a lot of students and how much he wanted to know everyones name and everything he would not write that all down. He was more interested in the area around him and the table after the sorting hat, with the professors. When it was his name getting called he walked to the front and hoped that it would be an good match. He had no idea where he would end up.

"Hmmmmm, no idea is right....this is tricky, you've a lot of different things that would suit you to different houses. You'd manage anywhere really. Though it is certainly between two houses....where in each for different reasons you'd manage fine....hmmm....okay.....let's go with......Ravenclaw"

Infinite rows, of infinite people, with infinite goblets, and infinite candles. The Great Hall was absolutely magnificent! The massively high ceilings and the intricate architectural properties stunned Giraltus as he made his way to find a seat. So many students, all bearing blue, yellow, red, or green. Some students with no colors, like himself. He made his way to a group of students yielding no house, and seemingly same aged. Being that of the first born in his family, Giraltus didn't know what to expect, but so far, was stunned by the beauty.
Massive columns, and impressive statues filled the Great Hall. There was so much to look at, with so much to be in awe for.

All the commotion started to die down as the sorting ceremony began. All attention was focused on the front. The mystical sorting hat, who would decide which house you belonged to. Would he be Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Gryffindor? No matter what house Giraltus found himself sorted into, he would hope to make lots of a friends, and learn as much as possible. He was eagar, ready, but most of all, excited to be apart of such an incredible institution.

Finally... "Giraltus Magno."

"Which of those houses indeed...you'd match with likeminded people in all of the house and certainly your adventurous nature would suit you in Gryffindor....but that ambition.....that definitely places you in.....Slytherin."

Skylar followed the first years as they walked in towards the great hall..
the girl was rather cool and didn’t care about it anyways, she just hoped to be part of Slytherin, Her mother once told her about the houses in Hogwarts before she died, It has been a long time since her mother’s death and her hate towards her father...She felt a part of her is dead..when she heard her name, she felt chills running through her bones...maybe it was because a lot of students are watching her to be sorted, She went to sit down and awaited for the Sorting hat’s decision...

"A Slytherin, you say? No that's not quite right. You have some of the qualities, but not enough to make it the right fit. You want to belong, to be loved. You're wise as well, oh yes, beyond your years. I know now...Ravenclaw!"

It is really an adventure of a lifetime. Arijona find herself stepping out of the Hogwarts train and trace her eyes on the other kids crowding in the platforms with their peers made in the middle of the travel. As always, she's alone clutching her dufflebag with the only clothes she own while embracing the book she'd been reading for 23, 24 or 25 times already. A book about wizards, she sneaked it off the orphanage library.

"This will be an adventure of a lifetime for you! And your adventure begins in Hufflepuff,"

Pixie wasn't enjoying this. She'd been fine in the train, able to find a little spot for herself to sit in and just watch the scenery go by, vaguely listening to the noise of the kids in the places around her. Distant enough so they weren't too loud but not so distant that she couldn't hear it. After all, this was an entirely new world to her, and there were so many things Pixie didn't yet know about it. But, sorting...this sorting thing. There were so many of them, so many students around her, in her year, in the hall they were being shown through. Just...so many people. How did the magic world stay hidden with all of these kids. Pixie lingered near the back at least a step behind the other last students and kept her distance as proceedings got started. It was clear very quickly what she would have to do, and her nervousness already high with all of the people around her, seemed to sky rocket. She could feel her heart in her chest hammering away, her palms were sweaty and she was sure that she had a small look of panic on her face. Was there any way out of it. Could she walk away and just get sorted later.

No. This was her new world, and as Pixie watched the students before her be sorted, it never lasted long, some took a bit longer but most of the time it was quick. The hat only said the house, if it said other things no one could hear it and though the older students seemed interested, it wasn't with the rapt attention she'd expect. they were likely all hungry. They were all wanting to loudly talk to their friends, laugh about things, engage in the games she'd seen muggle kids do at muggle schools. The canteen hall of Pixie's last school was only different in that there were no wooden tables, no floating candles and no singing hats, but plenty of students who were loud, and giggly and hungry. Though even with all these people, she'd take this place over that muggle school any day. Finally she heard her name be called and she'd been so distracted in her own thoughts she hadn't noted that they'd gotten down to the L's. The small calm she had achieved vanished and instead the nervousness was brought back.

Pixie took a deep breath and carefully weaved through the remaining students, trying very carefully to avoid touching any of them and approached the stool. her legs were shaking so badly now she thought they might not hold her up but she sat down, immediately looking at the wood floor in front of her and not at the student's faces. She wished it wouldn't be long, it felt like the universe might try to swallow her whole if it took long. But Pixie needed to do this so she could know her places in this busy world.

"You march to the beat of your own drum and that's not a bad thing. You could do well in Ravenclaw, but I know you'll excel in many more ways in...Hufflepuff!"

Cindy didn’t know what to think about all of this. She knew what magic was of course, well, she’d seen so little of it, but it was within her, she knew that much. With Mary Lou, the magic had been more… destructive, but, for whatever reason, the way the magic manifested itself for her was through almost bringing her drawings to life on the page. Well not really, because that would have been weird, but that was absolutely what it felt like and honestly who was she to say that wasn’t possible. She had already seen so much in this new place that she ran the risk of looking like a fool if she contradicted anything. Of course, as an eleven year old, she didn't have much of a frame of reference in regards to these matters and whilst she did regret leaving her brother and sister behind, she wasn’t really sure what else she was supposed to do if not for that. She wanted to come to this magic school after all, both to find out why Mary Lou hadn’t returned her letters and because it was a magic school and she was super excited to be there honestly. Who didn’t want to learn magic, right? Come on. No stress.

Looking up at the roof or… what she thought was the roof, had been something of a mistake, Cindy soon realised, as she was faced with the sky instead of the stone she expected to see. Did that mean that they were out in the open now? But that can’t have been true, she distinctly remembered walking into a building and they certainly hadn’t walked back out again. The walls were made of stone and not open like the sky seemed to suggest. How confusing. She didnt know what she was supposed to do with this information at all. Still no stress!

A few names were called before hers, putting a hat on their head that seemed to be able to talk and she honestly felt so proud of herself that she’d only gasped once. This whole place was strange to her and though she had tried to prepare as much as possible for what she might run into, this had done very little to help her feel like she’d managed to prepare. How could she prepare for something like this anyway, right? It just didn’t make sense.

“Prieland, Cindy?”

Her name. Finally.

She was careful as she walked up the steps, not entirely sure what she was going to find when she got there. She knew the hat was going to sort her, but of course, as with everything else, nothing was quite able to prepare her for the sound of a quiet voice in her ear. She shrieked, louder than she intended and clamped her hands quickly over her mouth. Terrified of removing her hands, they remained there as the hat made a decision on which house she was best suited for. She was glad it was someone else deciding, because she didn’t have a damn clue.

"Don't worry, no one expects you to decide. That's my job, and I'm good at it! The right house for you is... Hufflepuff!"

Hello my name is Emilie, I am a freshman but I still don't know how I can get my house, could someone help me please

"I can help with that. I'm a magical hat, and it's my job to sort you into your house. You're a first year but so is everyone else waiting there. But don't worry. In no time, it'll be like you've been here forever. Although you're brave, there's another part of you that craves knowledge and learning and that makes you a...Ravenclaw!"

The first thing that came to Isadora's mind while on the Hogwarts Express was that she didn't know how she would cope if she wasn't sorted in the house she wanted. Of course, she knew all the Hogwarts procedures, her parents had been talking about this school since she was a few years old, that's where her incredible desire to be noticed in this wonderful place came from. She was not nervous, she knew that everything would go well, everywhere she went she always made good impressions and everyone loved her even for no particular reason, maybe her charisma was a reason.

As she got off the train, she managed to catch a few glances. It was impossible not to, Isadora was a pretty girl and had an imposing posture.
Behind her, appears a boy, he seemed quite fit in Isadora's circle, maybe these two would become best friends, or the worst enemies. You never know what the future holds, especially when it comes to Isadora's spontaneity.
For a start, she gave him a simple smile and continued on to the Great Hall.

Every step Isadora took seemed to take The Great Hall farther than it really was. This wasn't because she was nervous, but because everytime she looked around she saw so many scared and nervous students, wondering why not everyone had self-confidence. Then she remembered that not everyone is a libra with self-confidence and ambition. Immersed in her great thoughts, large doors open in front of her, and her smile begins to show on her face. All she had to do was wait in the crowd of students dressed in black robes. She didn't make wishes, she knew that whatever it was, she would be fine and she was sure about her powers and desires. Again, lost in her thoughts, Isadora hears her name and her gaze is fixed on the chair on which she was to sit.

- "Isadora Cooler!"
"No need to waste time. You're truly a Slytherin!"

Yuki was positively beaming with excitement as she walked through the double doors to the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony. She could almost believe she was buzzing with nervous energy, though she wasn’t normally the type to get nervous. Normally she was very confident and all the martial art training she did with her dad she felt made her a generally calm person, but she couldn’t deny how exciting all of this was. After all, this was Hogwarts, the school her mum and dad went to and barely ever spoke about. She wasn’t always sure if it was happy or sad memories they held of this place, but she was determined to find out. Apparently, Corey had found some things out and now it was her turn to find out stuff too. She wondered more than she probably should about what her parents lives had been like when they were here.

She was pretty early in the list she assumed, with her name starting with E. At least it wasn’t B like her mother, whom she assumed probably went pretty early. She was also going to miss Japan as well, since she had her own room and stuff and Corey had said she would have to share. Maybe she would be in the same house as him, or as one of her cousins, that would be cool. She didn’t see them as much as she liked and she definitely missed them so now that they were going to all be at school together, that meant she would see them more, right?

“Edogawa, Yukiko.”

Yuki looked around and spotted her brother sitting at the Hufflepuff table with her cousin a couple of people down. More of her cousins were spread about the hall and she looked for them as best she could as she headed up to sit on the stool. It was easy to forget how big her family was sometimes. She waited as the hat was placed on her head to find out her house.

"You care about what others think of you...and that ambition is there...no need to look further than...Slytherin!"

Yulian Zhefarovich-Dolohov was not looking forward to the whole Sorting Ceremony if only because he was certain that it would be a very long wait before he got seated. Actually, he would bet a few knuts that he'd probably be the last first year that would be sorted considering his last name started with a Z - and even if he had some relatives joining in this year, his first name ended in a Y. A very long wait and since his patience was not that large to begin with, he wasn't really all that happy about the arrangement. In any case, at least the castle was quite nice to look at. It was huge and the ceiling and new environment were certainly entertaining - though personally, he thought that it would probably something that would grow old really fast. He definitely wasn't wrong since looking around the Great Hall and taking in the sights took only a few minutes and by then the sorting had barely gotten quarter past the amount of students. He didn't really care what houses his yearmates would be in so he had decided to look for the relatives that he did know and stating their full names in his head along with the names of their parents. At least that would pass the time by a decent amount.
It definitely took a while before he heard his name being called and the young boy merely sighed and walked up to the stool where he was to be seated. He could barely hide a grimace though as the Hat was settled upon his head, hopefully it didn't stink or anything especially since he was among the last of the students. The Hat would have been on a lot of heads tonight. With his thoughts getting off track, he sighed and told the hat - as politely as he could with his frayed patience - to just get the sorting over with.

"Slytherin has a history of helping ambitious students reach their goals, but you don't need a house for that. Your intelligence will get you there, and that makes you a... Ravenclaw!"

Levi Zhefarovich was named after his beloved uncle, though without the "aithan" on the end, which was good because he did not know how to pronounce it. Levi he was, and Levi he was going to stay. Levi knew that he had quite a wait on him already, after he entered the Great Hall. He hated having to leave his mother behind, and his little brother. His mom was seeing some guy named Isaia Romanes but Levi did not like him. He didn't want his mother to suffer like she did when his father left her. For a while, he and his brother were raised by Axel, his grandfather, who said that Drakon likely just lost his head. Whatever that meant. Levi pushed his thoughts aside while he heard people being sorted. He recognized a couple of names, but not many. There were several members of the Zhefarovich family sorted this year, but only two of them were siblings. The rest were just cousins. Thankfully, he was not the last of them to be sorted. He heard his name and walked up to the stool, and sat down. He felt the hat on his hair and waited for the hat to hurry and sort him.

"Another Zhefarovich? I'd tell you that you'll join your family but you're everywhere. For you, it'll be...Ravenclaw!"

Andromeda wiped her hands secretly on the insides of her pockets. The sick feeling she'd first noticed on the train still hadn't gone away - if anything, it was getting worse. She was a witch. It was supposed to be exciting. Everybody else was excited, or at least if they were nervous, their nervousness was the fluttery, happy kind that would go away before bedtime. The butterflies in Andromeda's stomach had wings studded with nails and as heavy as rocks. She lifted her chin a little, but the gesture did nothing to inspire confidence. Witch. Witch, witch, witch. What did that really mean?

"Reyes-Shirey, Andromeda."

The crowd parted in anticipation. There was nowhere to go but forward. Chin still raised, she sat down stiffly on the stool. Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. Simon had told her it didn't matter where she was sorted - it wouldn't change who she was as a person. That was true. But it might reflect who she was as a person. Witch. She closed her eyes and thought clearly to herself: sort me.

"I certainly will once I get a good look in there. Hmm...oh, I see now. You want your independence, don't you? Intelligent too, yes, very bright. You'll do well in...Ravenclaw!"

Bais walked into the great hall with all the rest of the students, but her head wasn't their- it was looking up, staring at the sky in the enchanted ceiling. She was so busy looking at the thin wispy clouds to remember to be nervous. when they called her up, she gave a little jump as she remembered where she was and walked up to the stool where the hat was placed. The nerves that had just arrived jumped a bit in her stomach, but she pushed it aside and placed the hat on her head.

"You're meant for... Hufflepuff!"
