Y37 Duelling Match #18

[Professor Matt Alcott-Ward]

Matt had surprised himself by agreeing to help out during the duelling tournament. He wasn't a very big duelist himself, but he had often enjoyed watching the duels. Once the two competitors seemed to be ready for the duel to begin, Matt pointed them to their places before speaking to them. "Welcome to your first round of duelling. The victor of this duel will be able to go on to the next round." Matt said. "If you break the rules, you'll be disqualified. Once you're unable to duel, you've lost." He explained. "When you're ready, bow to your opponent and get started." Matt said, stepping back to let the duel begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Juniper still couldn't believe she had beat Lysander. It was almost like her negative behavior and resentment towards the Gryffindor had payed off. Partnered with Ajax, Juniper wondered how intense this duel would be. She quickly bowed and threw her favorite spell. "Incendio!" she said.

Ajaccio had been surprised by Lysander's defeat he usually always saw the boy in the final and was usually always beaten by him. He smiled at his opponent, he was still excited to duel with her. she started off strong and Ajax dogded out the way of the spell, just ofting to fire back with a "Furnunculus ,"

Juniper blocked Ajaccio's spell and felt like this round wouldn't be as eventful or fun. Lysander was the champion for their year, and now someone else suddenly had a chance. Whether it would be her or Ajax, it at least brought pride to the Ravenclaw house. She threw up her wand again. "Impedimentia!"

Juniper frowned as Ajax blocked her spell. She thought with his dodging that this might be an easy win. Distracted by her thoughts, she miscalculated when to block his spell and felt a slice in her shoulder. Wincing as she deeply drew a breath in through her teeth, she pointed her wand at her opponent. "Confundo."

Ajaccio winced watching the spell hit her, and bit back the urge to apologise for it. but instead he just had to hurriedly cast a shield spell and then fired with a trip jinx.

Juniper felt her arm burning and took a moment to look at how bad the cut had been after she shot her spell back at Ajaccio. Distracted, she missed blocking his trip jinx and felt herself falling forward. She caught herself from completely face planting but managed to bang her knee on the ground. Letting out a moan of pain, Juniper pushed herself back up and threw back an engorging spell. She had beat Lysander, and this was not the way she wanted to go down.

Juniper was sick of being hit. She felt her knee pulsing a little, as the encounter with the ground had ben a harder impact than she had realized. Adrenaline was a funny thing. Ready this time, she blocked Ajaccio's spell. She sent a jelly-brain jinx to her opponent, hoping that he would also get a little payback.
