It was the first round of the year's duelling tournament, and Katherine lead the first batch of competitors to the raised platform in the centre of the chamber. Gesturing for the two to take their positions opposite each other, the headmistress stepped away, and took her own place at a podium to spectate from. "Competitors, welcome. In a moment, you will begin your first round of duelling. The victor will continue on to additional rounds, and further their chances of winning the title of Champion. Wands out, and prepare yourselves." Katherine spoke with a voice amplified by magic, and allowed the two time to ready their stances. "Bow and commence."

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Willow made her way to the duelling chamber for her first duel of the year. she had watched her brother duel earlier and she was proud at how well he had done. but now it was her turn. when she saw the fixturs she kicked herself. how had she managed to put herself against diana. she had been the one to make the fixtures. oh well. she stepped onto the stage and bowed before taking her wand and waving it. "Langlock" she said she realised too late that the charm was not as effective now that people were able to cast spells silently.

Diana sighed when she saw who she was up against. It felt like she always had to duel Willow, and it was never any fun. She barely bowed to the girl, and expecting her to strike first, got ready to block her spell. She managed to block the spell she threw at her, then cast one of her own. "Incarcerous!"

Willow was not supprised that Diana managed to block her spell. "Protago" she said blocking her retaliation. "Confundo" she cast hoping a bit of confusion would help slow diana down

Diana smirked at Willow as she blocked her next spell. "Pitiful." She said, knowing her taunts could distract the girl. "Diffindo!"

willow lazily flicked her wand "protago" she said almost bored. She cocked her head as diana said pitifully. "I know it is a pity we are always against each other. it is always such a boring duel" she said casting a disarming charm non verbally as she said the word boring. she had seen her mum cast spells like that while saying something else and she had spent the holidays practising.

Diana set up a shield charm as soon as Willow started to talk, and she was glad to have done so when she sent a sudden spell her way. She snorted. "Not my fault you're boring." She said. "Stupefy!" She wasn't as skilled, knew she couldn't reliably do nonverbal spells as well. But if she got lucky, she could still beat Willow.

Willow was a little peeved off that Diana had cast a shield. "I didn't say that i was the boring one. i just said the duels were." she said after she had cast a shield around herself. "we have played the game enough times to know how it ends. and it isn't with potatoes" she said. referring to the only time she had lost to diana when she had messed up her shield charm. "langelock" she said she had noticed that Diana had not taken up the silent challenge ot a non-verbal duel so maybe shutting her up would give her an advantage.

Lysander was always up to watching Willow's duels. She was a good teammate, but she was also one of the SDA leaders, so he figured he could learn from her by watching. He was glad to see she was against Diana. She had been rude to him, and he was eager to see Willow kick her butt. He listened to their exchange, not really understanding the meaning of Willow's comment, but had to assume it was a wicked insult or something. "Burn! You show her, Willow!" He cheered from the audience. Yeah, this wouldn't end in potatoes at all.

Diana sighed as she blocked Willow's next spell. "Just a tip, I think it might be more interesting if you stop blabbing about nonsense." She snapped at her. She had no idea what Willow was going on about. "Stupefy!"

Willow snorted at diana's comment. "It is only nonsense because you can't keep up." she said. before she heard a shout from the audience. she looked up and saw Lysander cheering her on. she liked sander he was friends with her brother and on the quidditch team with her. he was a real rocket on the pitch. unfortunately, the distraction came and she had to duck out of the way of the incoming spell. annoyed that she had messed up she pointed her wand at Diana "Expeliarmus" she said smiling sweetly casting a disarming charm her way

Diana was growing impatient, but at least she had made Willow duck out of the way of her spell. Ignoring both her words and the boy in the crowd, Diana tried a different spell after blocking Willow's. "Langlock."

Willow was not upset when the girl blocked her spell. and when she heard the spell that was sent her way she lowered her wand. "you are going to regret tha.." she said as her tongue adhered to the top of her mouth. she raised an eyebrow as if to say. now you have given yourself a disadvantage you won't be able to tell what is coming your way. she smirked and then sent a silent obscuro towards the girl. she wouldn't be able to hear what spell was coming her way. and if her spell was successful she would not be able to see what spell was coming or mote importantly when a spell was coming.

Diana raised her eyebrow at Willow's words, and expression. She had no idea what exactly she meant, but threw up a shield charm for her next spell. She wouldn't know what Willow was casting, but did that matter? She knew she shouldn't be hit by anything the Gryffindor sent her way. She then cast a stunning spell at Willow.

willow watched as diana blocked her spell. She had a idea of a spell that she could use on herself that would make the duel interesting but didn’t have the time. Before she had to cast a shield again to block a return spell. She raised her wand and silently cast a Graviatus a spell she had heard about that caused the opponents limbs to feel like heavy weights. But also a spell she had never used before
