Leading the first batch of duelists onto the stage, Katherine gestured for them to take their positions on opposite ends, and briefly explained the rules and formalities as a refresher, though by now almost everyone both competing and spectating was bound to know them. With all said and done, the Headmistress took her place on a raised podium overlooking the stage and the crowd gathered around it, before taking her wand to her throat. "Bow and commence." Her voice boomed clearly, informing the competitors that they were welcome to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Analei was excited to get started on the dueling tournament, and had been practicing a lot for it. She thought the training went really well with the other members of the SDA, and she hoped to see some of them taking the wins - except for the ones in her year. She was definitely going to win this year. Facing Diana, Analei bowed without taking her eyes off of the girl, before shooting off her first spell. "Obscuro!"

Diana intended to win the tournament for her year again, as Willow had stolen the victory last year. She didn't think Analei would be much of a challenge, even if she was one of the presidents. Diana blocked her spell and sneered. "Is that the best you can do? Incarcerous!"

Analei blocked Diana's spell, glad she hadn't said anything else. She was Edmund's ex, and Analei wanted to prove that he had made the right decision by staying with her. "Reducto!"

Diana was surprised by Analei's next spell, and she quickly blocked it. She gave the girl a look like she was crazy, but if she wanted to play it like this, fine. Diana hit a slug vomiting curse in her direction. Let's see how miss perfect would handle that.

Analei blocked Diana's spell before rolling her eyes. And she had been so rude about Analei's spell, and then sent her the slug one? "Expelliarmus!"

Diana scoffed at the simple spell Analei had picked next. Was she really resorting to disarming? Pathetic. Diana blocked her spell. "Incendio." She cast back, hoping to scare the girl a bit.

Analei quickly moved out of the way, not expecting the flames that Diana sent her. She sent her an incredulous look, before narrowing her eyes. Alright then. "Reducto!" Analei yelled, pointing her wand towards Diana's feet and hoping the blast would knock her down.

Diana laughed as Analei had to dodge her flames, and grinned as she advanced. But then the Hufflepuff cast as pell she really hadn't been expecting. With a yelp, Diana jumped back, barely managing to stay upright. She then glowered at the girl. "Levicorpus!"

Why wouldn't she just go down? Analei was growing frustrated, but remembered that she had been working on focusing and thats what these spells needed. She blocked the scalping hex, glaring at Diana for her petty move, before quickly firing back "Stupefy!" Oh how she would love to see the girl stunned right now.

Diana was getting tired of this duel, and it seemed so was Analei. She cast a very boring stunning charm, and Diana blocked it. "Langlock!"

Analei felt herself getting angry at Diana's words, her spell coming quickly afterwards. Analei felt a searing pain on her arm and she let out a cry as she realized Diana's spell had hit her, and cut her arm open! Analei glared at the girl, before sending the babbling curse back, trying to ignore the pain. Let's see how many spells she could send if she was talking rubbish.

Willow was watching the duel intently. it was a good one she really hoped that her co-leader would win. she kept her eye on the clock. but it was too good. She watched as analei was hit by the cutting spell. she remembered a duel she had been in a couple of years ago when she had been hit with the same spell it may have been against Dianna too. she looked at @Professor Katherine Alicastell and signalled that the time was up. and the duel was over with the professor to decide who should go through to the next round.
